Don't give up on Peterborough yet. It's been a big week locally https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/other-sport/the-potential-saviours-of-peterborough-speedway-will-fight-to-the-bitter-end-4376067 https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/politics/council/cambridgeshire-mp-shailesh-vara-says-no-stone-should-be-left-unturned-to-save-peterborough-speedway-track-4378647 And AEPG got a right kicking this week from the planning and environmental committee that they've got to sell their 10 year building site to https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/politics/council/peterborough-council-refuses-application-for-car-storage-depot-at-east-of-england-showground-43756972 points

Think they are both giving up Championship so they can commit more to Poland. Josh said on a podcast he was riding at Armadale on a Friday night then driving to London to catch a flight to Poland to race on Saturday. Polish teams have practice sessions and they were missing those. On a plus side for us Championship fans if these top riders are giving up our league for Poland maybe we can get back to regular weekly home meetings instead of working round riders schedules.2 points

It doesn't always work like that. I well remember the 2007 season. We had a number of injuries and finished near the bottom. That year, the likes of Andrew Tully, Matthew Wethers and Derek Sneddon were 'stalwarts'. William Lawson had also featured for a while and, albeit not part of the declared 1-7, Aaron Summers was used as the equivalent of what's now an NL guest on a number of occasions. Roll on to 2008. Kaj Laukkanen and George Stancl were replaced by Ryan Fisher and THJ, joining the 5 named above. The result? A brilliant season. Strolled the league title and added the Premier Trophy for good measure. I should probably collect stats as to how many winter changes teams make on an annual basis. Sadly, I can't be bothered, so I can't actually say whether the above is the exception to any potential rule!2 points

This year's top 6 for the Witches is 39.16. Take off King and Hume 2.5% reduces that to 38.88. As Cinderella would say... "it fits"1 point

Decent looking team but I wouldn’t have cook. When’s he’s on, he’s on but he’s a liability these days.1 point

Think would be a big risk if they had 2 x 2 pointers even though both have long term potential. We saw that having at least one strong/er reserve pays dividends. Also on Kyle Newman. Will he retire after this season as he said prior to season start he would review situation depending on how this season went. Would he be a better option going forward compared to Anders Rowe who although slightly higher may have better scope to improve being still only 21. A 38 point limit sure makes it interesting even if quality reduced a bit. Would the Ford's look at one H/L compared to the 2/3 of before. With a 7.55 point drop on the current team av, we know that probably one of the current 2 may have to go. Especially if both the Cooks (who I believe still lodge together at Middlo's) are still on an upward curve. I also think Ben's GSA would have been even higher had it not been for EF's or mishaps. Also to finish. The Thompson Twins mentioned in earlier post would perhaps be interesting, as sure they would enjoy riding in same team in Champ with I assume Dan doubling up with his parent team Leicester in Prem. I also think Joe would have been singing the praises of Poole who improved him after signing towards season end. Lots of food for thought in coming months. I am sure both Danny & Matt probably know already who their ideal team will be as they sure won't want to miss out on that lower order which will be so important to get the right mix. Assuming the well rumoured 38 points is the new limit in 24.1 point

Fair point. I just think the four riders (Hook and not Borke) had last season as well as this season, with the club going backwards, so going for a third would be a mistake, in my view. Would love to be proven wrong, obviously!1 point

Harris will prob guest for someone that once rode for Wolves1 point

Must admit that’s something I never noticed with him when he was at Ipswich a couple of seasons ago either.1 point

There’s two points between them. Rew on a 4.00 would be a far superior signing than Cook on a 6.00. Cook has done very well this year don’t get me wrong, but in the long run Rew is a far bigger talent and will go on to be a much better rider IMO. Why would Ipswich not use Rew though? Sign him on a 5.00, give him a bedding in year to learn the tracks, and then not retain him on a point less? Makes no sense from an Ipswich perspective. Rew has struggled at times hence his average, but has also shown flashes of his undoubted ability. He’ll kick on next year.1 point

With you on that one, I'd not be surprised to see Pickering back at a similar level in due course. Then again, good on him for giving it a go. I can't say I understand those crabbing Tom Brennan choosing to move up either - it's his career and his cross to bear if it goes south.1 point

I don't think any rider should be criticised for not riding in our second division if that's what they feel is best for their development, shows a bit of ambition and a willingness to get out of their comfort zone.1 point

For those of you who didn't know the names of those trying to save our great club. The PT reveals the six potential speedway saviours of speedway in Peterborough (peterboroughtoday.co.uk) Once again a massive thank you to all six of you involved.1 point

Risky but they are 2 riders on the up but can’t see Brennan coming to us not with his “friendship” with Charles1 point

Put us down for last with that side. I know it most definitely won’t be that thankfully.1 point

Wouldn't mind having Coles back but would leave Etheridge well alone. Scored more guesting for Sheffield in a final than he scored every away Berwick match this season apart from Plymouth. Has been the same other seasons doing better for Belle Vue than for Berwick.1 point

On the little difference in their average I would say Brennan would be a better signing than Flint.Flints average is inflated because of his home form, whereas Brennan’s away average is higher than his home average and IMO a better all round rider at this stage of their career’s.1 point

If he only rode for Berwick I'd agree with you, but he rides in the Prem & Poland without a "safety net". I guess I'm hoping for Berwick's sake he stays, they've not been strong for a while & losing Flint would hurt them badly imo1 point
