For those of you who didn't know the names of those trying to save our great club. The PT reveals the six potential speedway saviours of speedway in Peterborough (peterboroughtoday.co.uk) Once again a massive thank you to all six of you involved.8 points

With you on that one, I'd not be surprised to see Pickering back at a similar level in due course. Then again, good on him for giving it a go. I can't say I understand those crabbing Tom Brennan choosing to move up either - it's his career and his cross to bear if it goes south.3 points

Maybe Tom wanted a change of scenery, It’s all conjecture but wherever he ends up I wish him all the best.3 points

I don't think any rider should be criticised for not riding in our second division if that's what they feel is best for their development, shows a bit of ambition and a willingness to get out of their comfort zone.3 points

Peter Facenna has already stated that the plan is for Glasgow to remain in the Championship (Facebook/Podcast).2 points

Poole YT channel just put this up. Features Josh G, is that a hint Though it just reminds us what an amazing team rider Darcy was. Tai was with them for most of the race and still he team rides Josh G around. Lots of no1's would clear off for the win if that was happening to them. Anyway back to 2024...2 points

I'd rather go for a 2.00 rider instead of Roynon and have Rowe or another 6.00 rider instead of Nielsen2 points

If Birmingham go up Alfie Bowtell would be a rider to fill in the bottom end of the team would come in under4.5 with his reduction1 point

Absolutely nothing and will be in high demand, maybe Glasgow definitely going Premiership and Brennen is already in someone's plans in that league? Probably wrong, but can't imagine many reasons to shed him at the moment.1 point

Glasgow website Peter facenna. "tom initially indicated he was unsure about continuing in the championship". Given Glasgow would want their ducks in a row early presumably made plans without him. As Gaz said if was kept at 40 might have been back but most 3rd HLs this season I imagine be around 5/6.1 point

I agree that Tom is at least a year away from being consistent enough to give up championship1 point
-
We'll that's a bit of a Billy Big Bollocks attitude if true. The likes of Ryan Douglas and Josh Pickering I can fully understand but Brennan is 2 to 3 seasons away from that consistency level at least, if ever.1 point

The showground used to bring a lot of jobs and money into Peterborough. The people who attended the events at the showground came from far and wide together with their money staying in local hotels and spending their money at the events and in the surrounding businesses. If any of the fictitious jobs from this fantasy development cannot bring that old value plus new money into the area, then losing the showground will be a net negative to Peterborough. This proposed development is already affecting a lot of people up and down the country, so I am sure that the council cannot just pull the drawbridge up and close their minds to regional and national populations.1 point

If the current team fits with brit reductions,, I think it will be the same team1 point

It was interesting to see him first time having to back up his rhetoric rather than just spouting it as fact and the way it is. The challenges on community engagement (and the bloke behind doing the Pinocchio impression ) and Peterborough jobs in the PE area (which stretches far and wide over 39 districts) were particularly interesting. If he/AEPG wants to claim that the many objections to their applications are from outside Peterborough (if they are?) then we'll have to use the PE postcode area (which includes Kings Lynn which is interesting?) as our marker.1 point

Just over a point under as it stands. With a top two taking up so many points, ending up a point under still would be criminal. Swap Riss for Freddie Jakobsen and I’m sure Witches fans would bite your hand off.1 point

Risky but they are 2 riders on the up but can’t see Brennan coming to us not with his “friendship” with Charles1 point

No you haven’t ,you have been waiting for Redcar who put a testimonial meeting before the semi final tie on a number of occasions1 point

Every suggested side should look like a poor side if teams are going from 42 (on average) to 38. Not saying it will be that team, but to me doesn't look much worse than the current side (who made the play-offs) with every other team having to weaken don't forget.1 point

Crowds still very good and fairly decent for most Chargers matches as well. Not a fan of moving up at this stage, much bigger outlay in wages, won't really get bigger crowds and sponsorship levels already decent. Tv money? Whilst welcome, surely it won't cover the extra expenditure. Monday or Thursday racing? Impossible to tell if that would have any effect either way, one off matches are ok but not a true reflection if using that day every week. All in all, not for me.1 point

Wouldn't mind having Coles back but would leave Etheridge well alone. Scored more guesting for Sheffield in a final than he scored every away Berwick match this season apart from Plymouth. Has been the same other seasons doing better for Belle Vue than for Berwick.1 point

I would honestly be massively surprised if they weren't both at Poole next year.1 point

Great track. Has bedded in remarkably well this season. Testament to Steve Lawson’s hard work. Interesting to see how CL heat leaders ride it. A good few lines.1 point

…….or conversely, the Premiership contains too many Championship riders…..which is why IT got watered down making the two leagues too close. Doubling up made it the farce that it is.1 point

Word on the terraces was that he had asked for an extra £20 a point, lynn said no , Leicester said yes1 point

I had mixed feelings when the move to the championship was announced yesterday , I have enjoyed this year with these young lads we have had in our team and think they may be lost to the sport If there is no Third League of some description. i must admit I did not have any interest in the “ third division” when Workington were in the championship back in 2018 but there seems to be a real camaraderie with the boys this season that does not always exist with some teams . I hope many of this years team can be in next years line up , this would mean a weaker championship but maybe that is a good thing. One thing I do know Is the promotion at Northside have put a lot of work in to making this season a success , so well done to Andrew Bain , Steve Lawson and the many people behind the scenes who work tirelessly every week.1 point

Brilliant news yesterday . The Northside track is fantastic , got to be the widest in the country . Can just see Bomber blasting round the outside of those bends . That track deserves to be at a higher level , roll on 20241 point

Poole out on a limb for the Comets and other northern and Scottish teams as well but the comets supporters will be down to see you UTC1 point

Out on the very same limb as they were in 1970 to 1981 and 1999 to 2018......during both of those periods I recall very much of seeing a great many away followers at Derwent Park....then enjoying a pint with many post meeting. Workington is not on Mars ok.???1 point

For me the core product is very good, it is just the nonsense rules that prevent the actual leagues from ever being taken seriously... How the hell can anyone take seriously Peterborough's Bomber helping Ipswich to beat Belle Vue in the Semi, and then helping Sheffield beat Ipswich in the Final? You simply cannot market that.... Less riders per team would mean more riders to replace injured ones, so guests could be eradicated if the will was there .. A fit for purpose RR facility would also mean no need for guests... Development should be the 2nd Divs priority not Div 1, and clear demarcation within the leagues should always exist so the top league can be marketed as "Elite"... Every sport needs a "flagship" league that sells the sport with the other leagues feeding off it.. National generic marketing has to be the biggest opportunity. Huge amounts are spent on riders, very few of which bring a big crowd in, yet very, very little is spent on marketeers who may be able to put some bums on seats... Being able to take league racing seriously first though is needed before any money is spent hiring any marketing companies...1 point

Throw in hefty question marks surrounding the futures of Plymouth, Edinburgh & Birmingham in the coming seasons. The custodians of the sport for the past 15 years should hang their heads in shame. No need for a NDL as there won't be a sport to progress into in 5 years time. Cheers UK Speedway it was fun while it lasted.1 point

Not defeatist, just realistic... My thoughts on why we are where we are? The bandwidth of the forum wouldnt take it.... FWIW, there are two watershed moments for me... The first, the Sky tens of millions being used to basically pay top GP riders rather using it to invest in the sports' future, (both stadia and UK rider development).... (GP riders who pretty much all 'Foxtrot Oscared' when the money stopped).. And the second being post Covid. A HUGE opportunity to do something radical which would have been a "free hit" given the fans' craving to get back to watching speedway again.. Instead we had "same old, same old", which clearly hadn't been working pre Covid.. For those that still "take it seriously" and "believe it is real" similar to all other sports, I would never criticise their choice, and hope whoever wins any of the cups or titles enjoy the experience.. However, when something is allowed to take place as happened with Bomber in the semi and the final of the Premiership this year, you are asking a lot if you expect your sports' fanbase to regard it as a bona fide sporting championship.. Ultimately the Promoters do their best, but unfortunately many don't have the correct skill set to market and administer it, and, to be fair to them, probably don't need to as their track is often their personal hobby as a fan, so "big global picture" thinking doesn't form part of their overall remit... Unfortunately, that lack of "big global picture" thinking is probably its ultimate downfall... But, on the positive side, it is also its largest opportunity for generic growth should it ever be tried and delivered...1 point

Because at start of season he indicated would be his last in the championship so was left out of team building for next year.0 points
