  1. Now read that out aloud in one breath.

  2. …….or conversely, the Premiership contains too many Championship riders…..which is why IT got watered down making the two leagues too close. Doubling up made it the farce that it is.

  3. Is Friday night a protected CL night for Lincolnshire teams only?

  4. We couldn't fit Ben and Bomber in and I think Ben will be aiming higher than the Championship, Connor is a no-brainer for a return. But in a watered-down league, it will be difficult to get two big hitters in looks like one big hitter Four second strings, and Two reserves. Teams should be built to 42,14 heats x 3 it's not rocket science well it is for some. Agree about admission watered-down product on track should mean watered-down admission.

  5. Contains the grand total of 0 Leicester riders . I mean I'm not having a go at you but it's a nonsense really isn't it? Extra meeting and a Disney medal no doubt but it's ridiculous to call it "the final"

  6. Exactly, then where are the many unlucky kids who don't get a rising star place gonna learn to get better if no more NDL !!! Once again lack of forward thinking by the bspa

  8. Jubilee Poole v Leicester confirmed for Wednesday 25th October as a one-off meeting at Wimborne Road. Leicester 1-7 based on a 40 point average as at start of 2023!

  9. I think Egon made so much money on the Continent with little of the hassle that came with British speedway, it wasn't worth it for him . And then he had the side show of his singing career and concerts. Which he usually put on as part of the long track weekend as well . Where it was and to some extent still is a weekend event with people camping out at the track

  10. He made it clear he had no intentions of leaving Scunthorpe for another Championship club, its purely a decision to try and further his career by taking on extra challenges in Poland and Sweden etc.. Thanks Ryan for everything you have done for Scunthorpe Speedway over the past 10 years. All the best for the future and hope to see you back at Scunthorpe in the future as you will always be welcome back.

  11. 6 man teams with greater riders for me = better product

  12. For me the core product is very good, it is just the nonsense rules that prevent the actual leagues from ever being taken seriously... How the hell can anyone take seriously Peterborough's Bomber helping Ipswich to beat Belle Vue in the Semi, and then helping Sheffield beat Ipswich in the Final? You simply cannot market that.... Less riders per team would mean more riders to replace injured ones, so guests could be eradicated if the will was there .. A fit for purpose RR facility would also mean no need for guests... Development should be the 2nd Divs priority not Div 1, and clear demarcation within the leagues should always exist so the top league can be marketed as "Elite"... Every sport needs a "flagship" league that sells the sport with the other leagues feeding off it.. National generic marketing has to be the biggest opportunity. Huge amounts are spent on riders, very few of which bring a big crowd in, yet very, very little is spent on marketeers who may be able to put some bums on seats... Being able to take league racing seriously first though is needed before any money is spent hiring any marketing companies...

  14. Wiggy probably made more money on L/track riding in Europe on grasstrack as well ,think the same can be said for Kelvin Tatum a bad injury early on plus racing L/track effected his S/way career but not his bank balance I suspect .

  15. Can we have Dan bewley on his 2018 championship average? Glasgow have form for getting riders on a dodgy average, so maybe the comets could

  16. Connor and Ace had Championship places this season. I can see Luke Harrison and Sam McGurk possibly securing a berth next season. The Championship even watered down is a tough step up. Even though we have had the pleasure of watching some great young talent this season who have often outshone older team mates admission costs will rise and with it fans expectations. I would like to think that in the absence of the NDL something will be created that will still allow young riders the opportunity to race and develop.

  20. Why not just invite 14 riders along and then pick the teams on the night. Like we used to pick footy teams in the playground. Could be more riders than supporters showing up. What a farce!

  22. There's clearly more than 9 available, wether they are up to the correct standard is up for debate. I'd certainly prefer an RS rule to be under 3.50, feel it's a shame if the riders just above 2 (up to Pijper) could miss out.

  24. Probably dreaming, but us Lynn fans, more than deserve a good team i think Vadim NKI Lawson Harris Basso Freddie ( If his 2017 average of 9.29 was still used) 41.90

  25. Surely it is up to the Promoters to vote agaist points limit coming down for 2024. Just look at this season with 40pts limit how many riders started the season on the sidelines Dan Thompson, Kemp, Bailey, Clegg, Wethers etc.

  26. I had mixed feelings when the move to the championship was announced yesterday , I have enjoyed this year with these young lads we have had in our team and think they may be lost to the sport If there is no Third League of some description. i must admit I did not have any interest in the “ third division” when Workington were in the championship back in 2018 but there seems to be a real camaraderie with the boys this season that does not always exist with some teams . I hope many of this years team can be in next years line up , this would mean a weaker championship but maybe that is a good thing. One thing I do know Is the promotion at Northside have put a lot of work in to making this season a success , so well done to Andrew Bain , Steve Lawson and the many people behind the scenes who work tirelessly every week.

  30. Are you hearing 36 or 38? Both will water-down Champ teams which I guess is overdue in order to stop them fielding so many Prem riders?

  32. No, Monarchs have seniority over everyone else for Friday nights, and to be correct its North Lincolnshire, with Lincolnshire being an entirely different county and Boston Barracudas long gone.

  33. Not sure that'll be the case in 2024 with the rumoured points limit. There should be plenty of riders around and only a certain number of team/squad places available in Poland!

  35. Of course the BSPL are going to recommend thru go into the Champ, hardly gonna recommend they close down or join Nora are they! Which begs the question, was the recommendation in the best interests of the club or the BSPL?

  36. Just out of interest, I looked up Olle Nygren and Ove Fundin's first year averages using your criterion of 10 matches minimum.. Olle Nygren's was 7.6 from 10 matches (Harringay 1952) Ove Fundin's was 10.34 (Norwich 1956). (The previous year he appeared in 6 matches and scored 73 points.) I think it's fair to say that Ove Fundin began as he meant to continue!

  37. My third visit to Workington this season and I just love the place . Track has to be the widest in the country and its great news they are moving up . As for yesterday , a bit of a Sunday afternoon stroll in the sun for Connor Bailey , winning races by half a lap at times . But an enjoyable meeting nevertheless . Can't wait to watch Bomber blast round the outside of those bends next season

  38. Brilliant news yesterday . The Northside track is fantastic , got to be the widest in the country . Can just see Bomber blasting round the outside of those bends . That track deserves to be at a higher level , roll on 2024

  39. I've seen this comment many times & I'm not sure why? Cook was having a fantastic season, had upped his average and was out performing Pickering, until the incident against Poole, which I can only assume affected him badly. It's not like he never finishes a season, I'm sure it's the first time he's not finished a season (unless injured). Even so, teams use guests all the time, don't understand how that could be considered as negative

  40. I wouldn't have advised that - if the NL continues. Lots of very promising riders have struggled in their first Champ season... but if the Champ is weakened next season, he may not have than concern. Probably be irrelevant as the NL looks over (sadly).

  41. It was quite clear at the start of the season the fixtures that were included in the package you subscribed too.You can purchase any other you want to watch separately. Nothing to talk about really.

  42. If the rumours of points limit being 36/38 plus a rising star, think your beloved team will need major surgery to get under the limit

  45. Out on the very same limb as they were in 1970 to 1981 and 1999 to 2018......during both of those periods I recall very much of seeing a great many away followers at Derwent Park....then enjoying a pint with many post meeting. Workington is not on Mars ok.???

  46. This year, second string, yes. At 38 points, Connor might be a heat leader, but at the least, a strong second string. We've all got to adjust our expectations of who fits where. Half the heat leaders might be unemployed next year, and will come back in 2025 to replace the 2024 heat leaders, whose averages will increase so much they become unemployable.

  50. 100%, however what we have is pretty much all there will be.. Some tracks are "playthings" of the promoters who choose to spend big amounts on it.. This means that winning or losing doesnt make much difference to them as they will keep subsidising their "hobby".. Some tracks are the actual business of the promoter so they need to make money.. Meaning getting a "winning team" is paramount regardless of what entertainment value is on offer, or what integrity impacting rules some may need to try and circumnavigate to get that winning team.. The bottom line issue is very much a chicken and egg situation in that the sport needs big outside money to come into it, either via league or club sponsorship, or via a bigger TV deal... However, given the often "Mickey Mouse" way the sport is ran, you haven't a hope in hell of any major nationally well known businesses wanting to tie their brand to it... Hence, those well meaning, but ultimately bereft of the required skill set, "amateurs" will continue to try and run a professional sport... Doing "their best" i am sure, but with the inevitable outcome...
