Without meaning to sound mean to Cami or Complin, that's literally his job. A reserve for a team using r/r has to be prepared for 7 rides. The most important meeting if the year, gotta make sure he can do 7 heats if needed, ask the club for help with a mechanic, make sure 2 bikes are set up, club could plan when to grade the track to give him extra time. It could end up being the difference between winning the league & finishing second.5 points

So Glasgow come down to Wimborne Road with a huge 14 point lead. Pirates fans can almost give out a sigh of relief that it’s not 22-24 points, as it was looking to be heading that way after heat 8. But like the champions they are, Poole rallied well and actually won the second half of the meeting by a couple of points. But make no mistake, 14 points is a huge lead and defendable. If Pirates don’t start on the front foot it could all be over by heat 11. But there is a chance. Glasgow are clear favourites and who can stop Bomber in the form he showed tonight? He rides Poole well and if he is backed up by Tarasenko and Basso it will be enough. We need all the boys to be on their best form straight from heat 1, like Glasgow were tonight. Can Pirates pull off Mission Impossible: Back From The Dead?4 points

Vlad had problems with his first bike some sort of vibration after ht 11 and jumped on his spare bike which was set up the same but was a bit too strong for his last ride in ht 13 i think his mechanic fixed his first bike and was out having a lap to see if it was sorted i think it was a snapped bottom frame bolt4 points

Now if Lee had come out and said this I would accept it. But he has made the exact same mistake in the exact same heat the past two meetings, he only got away with it last week as the ref called an all 4 back and Ace was injured. I’m sorry but I’m not buying that one.4 points

012.4.4 Rider Replacement (RR) Facility allows the absent rider’s programmed rides to be shared out between other team members (including any Guest riders), subject to: - a) the rider who by MA is directly above the absent rider and all riders below may take one RR each b) a reserve can have more than one RR c) RR is not permitted in Heat 15 d) only one position per team may be declared as RR e) a nomination once made cannot be changed f) A rider nominated as an AR may, at the Team Managers discretion, take any ride at any time in heats 1-14, apart from the protected riders position in heats 2 and 8. Whilst the minimum ride rule does not apply, the maximum number of rides is 7. Bedtime4 points

Pijper does not have to take an r/r ride. Complin x 2, Brennan, and Tarasenko can take the 4 rides. And Complin can then take one of Pijpers programmed rides to have 7 rides to Pijpers 3.4 points

This is the problem with British speedway IMO. Teams of course want home advantage but where possible tracks should be prepared for the best racing that can be provided and with the crowd in mind, not how the home riders want it.3 points

Over 53 years 300 plus riders have ridden for the Panthers, if these riders particularly wanted to go nothing was stopping them from attending. As for those who wanted to go but didn’t get invited, really, is it that important to for ex riders to think they need to get invited for free to consider attending the very last match at the Showground.3 points

Lee Complin has the biggest balls and heart in that side, he rides with a f***ing trailing leg !!! So the shoe bit is beyond me, he just got two points in heat 11. I am convinced Lee would've ridden with his arm in a cast and a pair of flip flops if the side needed him. Either someone's made a mistake, or someone's been told to put Ace out.3 points

When about a dozen people disagree with you on the r/r ruling, is it not time to consider, you may be the one who has the rules wrong?3 points

Was only 4/5 races probably last night. The biblical rain and time of the year obviously had an effect on it. Fact was any kind of passing or racing I thought was huge testament to the track staff. Sorry to be broken record but as with Ipswich at Sheffield and Sheffield at Ipswich we're running the biggest meetings of the season at the least optimal time of the year. Why do we run Bsn trophy at start of season for example and not end? Go straight into league racing could have it wrapped up by end of August and then can move onto a tournament that sure teams would like to win but if run in poor conditions then more acceptable imo. Might even extend some clubs seasons who don't make play offs too (not in terms of more meetings but fans not having any home matches after August can't be easy)2 points

Lisa did not say there wasnt any passing . Glasgow .Ashfield is one of the best racetracks we have especially now Peterborough has gone and racing is usually terrific .2 points

Much worse things have been said at speedway tracks. If Woffy wants to be back, I'm sure Sheffield will more than welcome to having him back.2 points

There wasn't masses of passing last night. Only towards the end of the meeting when Bomber didn't gate. Even Basso couldn't find a way past in H15.2 points

"There have been a total of 152 public responses to the plans with 151 being objections" - if they throw a wobbly at that then AEPG's planning applications are at 1400, most of which are objections, and they think that they'll quickly iron out the issues raised. They'll need an additional planning application to store the steamrollers they'll need to smooth out their cock up!2 points

Sorry people. Sarcasm is perhaps not called for. I've no idea of the difficulties that Birmingham have had re-staging this event. I just want to see the competitors on track racing for, what is to them, an important achievement in their careers. I've become a big fan of the youth arm of our sport. I've learnt a little, just how difficult it is for young riders to break into an expensive career. And putting "U19 / U21 champion" in your CV is a big thing. I really hope this meeting doesn't fall off the end of the fixture list.2 points

Interesting that the last part says (my highlight) 'AEPG has previously said that the DHL car storage operation is a means for the venue to secure an income until two outline planning applications to build 1,500 homes and a leisure village on the Showground, which is owned by the East of England Agricultural Society, are considered by the council. However, officers will tell councillors next week that a decision is not expected to be made on these applications in the near future.' With any luck AEPG will run out of money before the applications are determined I've queried with the Council why it has put a statement from AEPG about the loss of speedway on it's website as though it is fact, without clarifying that this does not represent the Council's view AEPG Statement regarding Peterborough Panthers use of East of England Showground - Peterborough City Council Update: quick response from the Council as follows From: Communications <Communications@peterborough.gov.uk> Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2023 1:18 PM Plng Control Enquiries <planningcontrol@peterborough.gov.uk> Subject: Re: https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/news/aepg-statement-regarding-peterborough-panthers-use-of-east-of-england-showground Hi xxxx, We added the statement to the PCC website on request of the council's Leader Wayne Fitzgerald, who spoke about this issue during a recent ' Ask the Leader' session. We will add a line to emphasise that this statement is APEG's view and not the councils. Kind regards, Ken. Many thanks, The Communications Team2 points

As I said on the other thread unfortunately I think Glasgow had a chance to take the tie by the scruff of the neck but failed to take it, six lasts in the final seven heats last night killed their hopes. They needed a lead of 20+. Poole to win comfortably on aggregate.2 points

Allied Presentations signed a 99 year lease with Reading Council in 1974 for the Smallmead land, as already stated for whatever reason a new shorter lease was agreed at some point between council and Allied (under the stewardship of the Dore family). I assume for a cheaper rent In 2001 Allied sold out to Gaming Intl who spent a few quid on stadium bars to bring them up to H&S standards! In 2008 council didn’t offer an extension to short term Lease and sold Smallmead site, a new piece of land (close to existing site a former MX track) was offered several years before that to GI who gained planning permission to build a racino (speedway, dogs and Casino) of course surprise surprise it never happened and eventually the council sold that piece of land off for industrial use. The original Smallmead site lies barren but for match day football parking a lot of people have a lot to answer for - but prospects for speedway in town are about as close to zero as you can get.2 points

Joe probably let heat 2 get into his head. Most Glasgow fans probably thought it was a rightful exclusion while Poole fans though it was a harsh decision with Joe in front at the time of Ace's off!2 points

All these young” throttle jockeys” should watch Bomber entering the bends when chasing opposition, understeering to keep the speed up the swooping round he outside out of bend a true masterclass of throttle control and “balls”.Plus he is loving it.That was some display he gave last night.IMO2 points

Being serious, I don't think playoff matches should be allowed to finish with less than 15 heats.2 points

His steel shoe could only manage 6 tonight. After all it’s a big ask for a steel shoe to do 7 rides in 14 heats.2 points

Total bollocks. He's embarrassing. Complin would have bitten his hand off for 7 rides.2 points

That's not the rule. They are eligible to take a ride. It's not a requirement. If they so choose, one reserve can take all four (although you'd then need a reserve switch in one of their own).2 points

Total ineptitude by our team manager. Even if Glasgow win this tie, which is pretty unlikely, Brown has to go. Anyone who cannot see that Ace was guaranteed to be last and that Complin "might" not be, isn't good enough.2 points

You inevitably become too comfortable in your own surroundings.. The Aussies come half way around the globe and head to Britain, Poland or Sweden.. No surprise that a fair proportion of those that do it, go on to a much higher level than their UK counterparts... The Poles usually stay put and develop, but they run the risk of losing a team place if they don't perform, given the potential over there of so many, hence they either develop upwards or disappear quickly from the upper echolons....1 point
