  1. Personally as the dad and mechanic of a rider I also go to bike first after a crash leave medics to do their job whilst I do mine . If bike is ok when picked up then see how lad is . It is difficult to do this at times but it right to keep out the way at first

  4. I have no idea how he missed that, every fan on the back straight was dumbfounded when he put Ace out, after two falls in his previous 3 heats.

  5. Would be a sad way for his career to end. Last 2 seasons excluded he's been a helluva rider, as entertaining as I've ever seen round ashfield

  6. We are indeed. Hopefully get a bit further up the M6 this time!

  7. Posted by NK Iversen this morning on Twitter. Status after crash last night. Scans shows nothing is broken but I am pretty battered. They kept me in hospital overnight for observation due to a knock to my chest. Thanks for all your concerns. Haven’t been able to reply to everyone yet

  9. Last nights cash grab to help fund the KL 2024 kitty hasn't gone down well, Hardly a shock though considering no effort was put in from the get go. Panthers will be back on track at some point, I have faith in those who are working hard behind the scenes.

  10. Oh dear. I see now Lee's form has picked up a bit going to double down on ace. Maybe, just maybe he wants to be part of a possible league winning side and is doing everything to be fit. You know the way you'd be desperate for if it was Ben or bomber. Ace has done more than the job was asked of him this season and using Smith against Poole isn't going to score you more points anyway imo. Theo I think on every fall bar the one against Berwick has gone to the bike first lol. I suppose it's a mental thing at times that he has to distance himself from being his son to thinking of him as would any other rider, take the emotion out it

  11. I'll have to disagree, while Poole want & deserve the choice of having the second leg at home, that shouldn't allow them to postpone matches. What if Glasgow couldn't re-arrange till the Friday & Poole call off the Wednesday match (in perfect weather) but the following Wednesday, when they plan to re-arrange it, gets postponed & it gets put back another week, you could end up with the KOC being abandoned, because Poole were so adamant to get the second leg at home? Apart from that, what about any Glasgow fans who could possibly have booked time off work, hired mini-buses, paid for hotels, all for nothing - just because Poole want the season leg? Obviously there's a risk of rain when you make these expenditures, but seems rediciulous that they could postpone a match, which could cause many problems, just to get the second leg at home.

  12. Don't think many clubs will be interested in Cookie,to much of risk for managers and promoters.

  15. Can’t see anything other than a similar season to this from CC. Teams aren’t going to offer up a place to him when you don’t know what you’re going to get.

  16. As a current clerk of the course I can inform you this is all sorted at a pre meeting discussion . The referee runs the meeting, and track grading is sorted between the ref, the team managers and the track curator . Team managers, riders etc can ASK for track grades during a meeting at any time, this occurred on Friday, but it’s upto the ref if he allows it. Some tracks don’t have intervals , Redcar being one of them. Im sure every Clerk has his own club protocol to discuss with a referee before a meeting.

  22. Now this meeting is over i hope Chapman would step back and let any interested potential owner promoter take charge of the Panthers and see what can be done if anything.

  24. There's going to be a big crowd on the back straight to meet Barabas/WBW/Colin McHutchinson face to face. Wonder how Gazc's tete a tete went? didn't see the swat team dropping out of the copper chopper.

  25. Shambolic. Whatever your thoughts on Keith Chapman's final cash grab of a farewell meeting, surely everyone can agree that it's evident minimal effort was put in here. Mountain, Edwards, Starke, Brennan, etc? This is one of the biggest clubs in the country, countless legends and major moments, and this is the line-up that was mustered. If Chapman wants to stealth some more money with a farewell meeting he could've at least done it with some dignity and respect for the Panthers and the Showground.

  27. Next time am at glasgow will let u know and will talk to u face to face no probs,as for ace he wasnt the only one to fall off yesterday ,a magic moment was when his dad came running onto the track and went straight to the bike ignoring ace lol

  28. First of all I hope Puk is OK, i didn't hang around for the final as nobody really seemed bothered who won, there was no prize to ride for (?). As a "farewell" meeting what a p155 poor effort from the promotion, where were all the club legends? As David Howe, who was only there in his capacity as Dougy's spannerman, said he was hoping to catch up with, Sam Tesar, Hans Clausen & Ronni Pedersen etc. You have to assume that none of these ex riders were invited and Ully & Emil turned up under their own steam. Even the programme cover was a p155 take, of all the riders pictured only Ully was there! Buster was even on car park duty taking my final £1 in a final "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" gesture? And his "thank you" speech was quite rightly greeted with silence! Of all the memories i have of the EoES through the years, there were absolutely none from last night and it will be quickly forgotten.

  29. Not correct. The ref asks the Clerk of the Course when you are grading and when interval is. That I know as fact having assisted many a time.

  30. See the ahem (prat & wally) on here who don't get this is a forum for opinions & points of view feel free not to come on here then...I don't call them names I could its very easy to hide & be a keyboard warrior ?.. i comment on the speedway & if I think a rider isn't good enough or is dangerous to others ,gonna cost my team a chance of title I will put that point across its allowed ...no points made here then no forum surely its not just for cheerleading you can do that with pom poms at any speedway stadium...if you don't agree it's fine but see if you wouldn't say anything to my face don't txt it on here & run away ...as for ace rode his socks of at Workington that is nowhere near the level required to beat Poole...he has clearly been struggling for glasgow Workington has got nothing to do with it ..he's fell again tonight fact which is something he is regularly doing that was my point ..I think in a few yrs he might be ok but he's struggling badly now thats my point & I stand by it ..

  32. Erm, this entire thread is about Phil Morris's evidence to the Coventry Stadium inquiry in which he said it was likely that a new track completely new to Speedway would be coming into the leagues next season. What on earth do you think we've been discussing for the last 4 pages?

  33. So, you want speedway to become a contact sport? The more riders in hospital the better, eh?

  34. It reads as if the article was actually written by AEPG, and the timing of its publication was "impeccable"

  37. We travel the 120 mile trek to Scunny every week! It’s even further still to Redcar and both Sheffield/ Belle Vue involve a 70 mile round trip! All of these are stretching it, from a cost point of view, for most fans in the North/ West/ East Yorks belt. The supporter interest generated both old and new in those regions would comfortably sustain the Odsal investment in my opinion. The problem with British Speedway is that promoting nous and ambition has been at virtual zero for decades. Supposed promoters have focused inwardly and even their ability to do that is questionable. I’m certain that financial investment in the sport has never been higher than currently brought by Discovery Sports. With British Speedway withering to the point of extinction before our very eyes, l see it as a great opportunity to utilise some of that funding to collectively reinvest in a proper stadia/ track to help sustain/ grow the sport. If you think back when we had real entrepreneurial promoters, then if one door closed they just moved on and opened up in another Town/ City. The sport kept moving forward and expanding. As it stands we have a total of 14 tracks left and potentially more in that number on the brink due to potential land development. If we don’t counter this by getting out there, promoting and opening up new venues then Speedway is dead and buried in this country for sure.

  40. Has anybody mentioned Trent Raceway near Burton yet? It's an established dirt oval and has been used for speedway practice. I'm sure Tom Wolley posted video's of him having a skid round there on youtube.

  41. Spedeworth need speedway at Foxhall to make the venue financially viable and I believe have a decent relationship with the MIldenhall speedway promotion at West Row Stadium which they either own or have the lease for. Brafield raceway was shaled over a few years back and staged speedway in the 50's and 60's. I always wondered why this venue was never opened up in the late 60's and early 70's when the success and viability of the new 2nd Division saw many would be (and already existing ) promotors look at all sorts of different venues and locations to run a 2nd tier team out of? Spedeworth are only tenants at Great Yarmouth but the owners aren't against speedway indeed they are the same family who owned it when speedway was staged there in the 40's - 60's and former Bloaters rider Billy Bales opened the new restaurant there about a decade ago. - That said the track would be extremely small and the speedway closed there in 1961 cause they could only get a viable crowd in the holiday period. Hednesford did stage a few open meetings and speedway practise sessions after the war so would it qualify as a new speedway venue? - Not far out of the Birmingham/Black Country conurbation speedway hotbed which is just about to lose another track in Wolves. Could this venue work as a speedway venue? I hope Phil Morris' words of hope about a new track bear fruition!

  42. I'd argue "boring" is the wrong term, then again so is "incredible overtaking". There were a couple of decent outside passes but the spectacle was ruined by the weather, and it was a bang average meeting overall. It makes you wonder what the driver behind it was. Ipswich rescheduled a day later against Ipswich Town football, Sheffield persisting in treacherous conditions. Why? It's the first week of October during a spell of decent weather. Ho hum. A pity Glasgow has also fallen victim to the weather today. Hopefully tomorrow night is better.

  45. That’s why theses fixtures should have been raced earlier in the season when tracks are drier and can be worked on 9 team s in a league , BSN series and knockout cup fixtures and still riding in mid October is crazy

  47. The only trouble with this is it totally makes the next season averages all over the place, you’ll potentially have reserves with higher averages than heatleaders. six or even five man teams is probably the way forward.
