So after finally catching up on most of the weeks events it’s quite apparent that this will go down to the wire with Brandon Estates and the council along with the SCS group really showing how evidence is cross examined and my word a few of the guys had a tough time. I have seen comments about when will the state of the stadium come up but as it’s a planning issue being looked at and in the councils opening statement i don’t think it actually matters in the context of this hearing however in the broader evidence that will no doubt be looked at by the lady appointed by the Secretary of State it’s quite clear and I’m sure has been seen many times the woeful neglect of the stadium will be clear to see. Phil Morris was absolutely brilliant and after the hard time Neil Allen was given I was fearing the worst but then after seeing it when the tables are turned it’s clear to see that anybody being cross examined gets equally a grilling and water is sipped at quite a rate. The surprise from the SCS group was that the lack of action plan when Mr Hunter was asked as such but then as mentioned with no access to the stadium and the condescending way it asked about structural engineering backgrounds etc. But B.E don’t have much to go on so anything is going to be tried to give them any kind of advantage. Mr Eady spent most of his time in the cross examination so far back you couldn’t hear him or so close it was hurting my ears listening. When he was asked questions most of it was “if that’s what he said” or ask someone else further down the line. His back up for viability was sketchy at best and again it’s all centred around speedways viability and not the fact stox is the main money earner is totally irrelevant to B.E funny enough. Not knowing how many riders in a team, not knowing about Oxford and the best bit was trying to fluff his way through the Swindon question. The 3G pitch saga nearly sent me to sleep on many occasions but funny enough considering the way Brandon Estates speak about it and how it’s so good for the local area, well it obviously wasn’t on at least the first 2 plans they submitted as it’s not included it’s only when that box needed ticking that they decided to do anything so it’s clear they’d never in a million years have bothered unless that had too so they have no thought still for the community only making millions of pounds. Looking at the latest plan, the football pitch is on the left hand side of the site as you enter from rugby road but at the back of the houses already lived in. So these houses will potentially have 7 day a week noise from football pitch, floodlights and car noise right at the bottom of their back gardens. Nice touch ! I hope the guy from Bradford is able to make it and also Matt Ford, it will really need people with some presence in the cross examinations as the guy for Brandon Estates will be as annoying as he was this week. Phil Morris gave him as much as he got and as much as the legal teams try to be pedantic the facts are the facts and being strong and confident during cross examination is all important. No doubt Mr Osbourne will have some obscure reasoning behind the Swindon venture but hopefully the SCS and especially the Council legal team will be as good as they were this week. The man for the council I think is especially good and he will need to be the same next week as the closing statements will hold be massively important in trying to get the appeal to hold up our way.6 points

I’m no Poole fan but regardless of what people think of the fords and middleditch they always get there team building right every season the top division need teams like Poole in it Poole do not need the top division so. Credit where credit is due and if they win it again it’s up to all our teams to beat them and at the moment we are all found wanting. So no grumbling from me if they reach the top step again they obviously deserve it.5 points

It's not every year the top 5 are so far ahead of the bottom 4. But yes, the less teams in the play-offs the better! Personally I think it's a bit rediciulous finishing 6th of 9 gives you a shot at the title!3 points

Yes so if Edinburgh away is rained off we get the points and if its not rained off we still should get the points so no worries .3 points

From Sportowefakty: 18:43 17 . Run interrupted. The fall of Bloedorn. An ambulance appeared on the track. The German got up on his own. Heat 17 was the Final - it was "Rerun All 6" and Blödorn took part.2 points

FGA or any other of the grasstrack organisations up and down the country still have a host of young men ( & women) wanting to have a go at speedway. Problem is the powers that be seem not to want them, so involvement in the MDL is vital to them and clubs should be pushing for more teams not less.2 points

Hoggart helped stabilise a fast sinking ship and for that he deserves thanks. As team manager he seemed to get the riders working as a team. Maybe a few tactical errors during matches but he got the Stars to end of season. Thanks Dave.2 points

Assume it’s just Sedgmen for Howarth(for Wright) for the Bears. Only saving grace might be that Danyon and Connor might score better than they do on other away tracks because of their Glasgow experience. Expecting a Glasgow win by a decent margin.2 points

Some folks may already be aware that Ray Day of the PL (e.g. Bradford Panthers 1962) has passed at 87. Similarly Peter Morrish speedway author, statistician and Team Manger at Stoke in the early sixties has also passed recently at age 872 points

Ouch... that one hurt... Firstly, get better soon Anders, never nice to see a rider get hurt like that.. Congrats to the Pirates, dominant performance and good luck in the remainder of your title defence... Guess theres still the KOC for scunny to try get2 points

Given that it is Local Government, via Rugby Council, that is refusing BE permission, it's probably not helpful to critisise it. More likely to be either the Inspector or KCs that needed the early finish.2 points

In July 2015 Bradley Wilson Dean had an established NL match average but was given an assessed average for racing in the PL. He was blocked from guesting for Rye House as his assessed average took precedence over his established average. In September 2023 Robert Lambert had an established PL match average but was given an assessed average for racing in the PL. He was allowed to guest for Sheffield as his established average took precedence over his assessed average. http://www.ryehouse-speedway.com/news.php?extend.1046 http://www.speedwaygbarchive.co.uk/files/downloads/nl15_issue_9a.pdf2 points

Unless there's some kind of magical land in the back of a wardrobe where do they expect to find land where everybody else has failed for the last 27 years? I do wish these things weren't given the oxygen of publicity, it just gives fans false hope2 points

Surprised he has time to worry about such things given how much effort it must take to think of new ways to cheat every week2 points

I can't understand why Wood has a Champ team spot, as there MUST be stronger British riders out there. I often get told, they are not willing to travel up, but unless the club posts a list of riders, who were unwilling to sign for them, have to blame them for not signing someone stronger!1 point

Matter of angle I assume then. Connors looked very fast on all his visits this season, taken a big step forward this season. Being busy was always the key to him and having 3 leagues plus Poland U24 he's definitely busy!1 point

Rules are kept ambiguous so they can be "interperated" as and when is needed.. You can't "make it all up as you go along" if rules are clear and beyond any subjectivity... And that would be no good for UK Speedway who depend on that "moments notice" change in personnel...1 point

There's no complaints about guests per se, it's just the promise of transparency is so often ignored. Read the Regs and then explain why Lambert can guest ... the BSPL has decided what the Regs don't say, and what the Green Sheets don't say, allows Lambert to guest. How many professional sports do that? Where's the transparency, let alone the scrutiny? Accepting what we're being fed is not the answer, that's why so many people have walked away from the sport over the years, while the Happy Clappers are taken for cash cow mugs.1 point

We seem to go out of our way not to mention line ups until the last minute if there are riders going to be missing. The Phil Lanning piece could surely have given the teams earlier this morning. If we don't make the final, are there any plans for a further meeting f any kind or does the season just tail off?1 point

Top of the league and, so far, top of the mini league despite a sluggish start at home, an enforced late change of team manager and the loss of a rider in heat one. Edinburgh now become the next potential banana skin for Shovlar to worry about1 point

Those running the sport haven’t got a clue either. It’s one thing to get a guest, such as bomber for example who is a bona fide supporter of the league , but something quite different to bring in a carpet bagger who is just making up his money as the Polish season winds its way to an end. No wonder clubs are struggling to get fans through the gates. It’s a pity they don’t have the ability to rule “ Not in the best interests of Speedway “ to give the league and play- offs some sort of meaning.1 point

I didn't catch all of today's proceedings - I watched from around 10.45am, but got a real feeling that the SCS guys scored very well picking gaping holes in Mr Eadies report (which incidentally he only edited as the legwork was done by someone else in the office!). The inquiry is due to go on til at least Thursday, with 'summing up' scheduled for Friday, which may go into the following week. Matt Ford is due to fly in to speak on Wednesday(27th) and Clark Osborne at 0930 on Thursday (28th). The final input today was the Council's Labour Cllr who 100% confirmed their cross-party intention to save Coventry Speedway and Stadium. Good to hear.1 point

That’s bang out of order! Hoggart is a good bloke. The fact is spineless clown Chapman could not be arsed (or capable) to run KL team and gave him the poison chalice and brought him in to the firing line to run a rubbish team rather than do the job himself. Mr Hoggart does not deserve any flack he was clearlyhelping out KL. it’s the pathetic Chapman who’s to blame.1 point

Another rule we'd never heard of until today If he's got an established match average which he clearly has then why is it shown as assessed in the greensheet lists? What does that achieve exactly?1 point

Will cyclist have to obey this or are they exempt as is the case When it comes to insurance as other road users are normally required have, number plates for identification purposes, ignoring traffic lights, riding on the pavement, deliberately pulling out in front of motor vehicles etc. riding too fast on public footpaths in the countryside and expecting everyone to get out of their way and generally being some of the most inconsiderate road users.1 point
