I didn't catch all of today's proceedings - I watched from around 10.45am, but got a real feeling that the SCS guys scored very well picking gaping holes in Mr Eadies report (which incidentally he only edited as the legwork was done by someone else in the office!). The inquiry is due to go on til at least Thursday, with 'summing up' scheduled for Friday, which may go into the following week. Matt Ford is due to fly in to speak on Wednesday(27th) and Clark Osborne at 0930 on Thursday (28th). The final input today was the Council's Labour Cllr who 100% confirmed their cross-party intention to save Coventry Speedway and Stadium. Good to hear.5 points

Come on Wolves, I don't want to see the British Speedway USER make a mockery of our league again. Wolves vs. Ipswich final sounds perfect to me, Two clubs that have played by the rules and stuck with their main body riders all season.5 points

Lambert has an * next to his average. The rules on the greensheets are as follows assessed MA due to one of following New Foreign Rider Converted MA New Rider Re-assessed MA Est MA older than prev 2 seasons So using thier rules Lambert has a. "assessed MA" as it's an established MA older than 2 seasons!4 points

Poor from Belle Vue but you have to give Ipswich credit, solid throughout the team last night and appear to be peaking at the right time. There's always plenty of jokes about Harris riding for everyone and understandably so, but there's a reason why he's the go to guest for everyone. Especially at this time of year when conditions are often not great and you can see that some don't fancy it. There's going to be a huge hole in British speedway when he eventually retires.4 points

Looks like there’s going to be a lot of supporters /fans / keyboard warriors who never go having some sleepless nights this weekend. Stop taking the sport so seriously. Guest riders have been in use for donkeys years and the sport can’t survive without them. FACT. We can’t run squads. Not enough riders and too expensive. Are Sheffield expected to use 2 juniors to make up the team ? That will definitely help Wolves get a healthy crowd. Not. Just accept what we’re been fed. Pay to watch or don’t go. Simple. Enjoy your weekend everyone3 points

Isn't it amazing not one Sheffield fan questioning Lamberts inclusion,,,is it cos this year it benefits you?3 points

He is a Sports and Leisure consultancy that uses Sport England And various football playing field directives, which are all based on participation numbers rather than spectating numbers. His report should be torn to shreds its so full of holes and inaccuracies.3 points

The BSPA Office has confirmed that the Regulation does not state that a rider with an assessed average cannot guest, only a rider who does not have an Established MA. Robert Lambert has an Established MA from 2019. So you can make it up3 points

Last rode for Lynn over 2 years ago hence his average is not classed as established. I think he was 1 meeting short of getting his new average which would probably be significantly higher. Another end of season balls up by the BSPA3 points

012.4.2 Guest Rider (G) Replaces an absent regular team member subject to the following: - a) if the absent rider, with an established MA, is in the top 1-5 of the team, then the missing rider’s MA will be enhanced by +5% at a home meeting to determine the allowance for the guest rider. So when did Lambert get his Established MA?3 points

Ipswich wanted it more. Congratulations to you guys. Very disappointing result for us. In fact quite angry about it. ipswich deserved the big lead they have.3 points

Yes those early years out cost him a world title. They should both be back in the GP series next year, but unlikely to happen.3 points

Kurtz has been improving each season to be fair to him.3 points

Will go down as one of the best to never win the world title. No shame in that, the club is full of exceptional talent. There will always be a big what if over his earlier hiatus from the series when he was arguably at the peak of his powers. Now it is Zmarzlik’s world and everyone else just lives in it. I think there’s an awful lot wrong with British Speedway but having Emil here has been a breath of fresh air. I’d love to see him back in the GP series but can’t see Russian riders getting a wild card even though Emil and Artem Laguta should absolutely be in the series. The clock is ticking time wise for Emil on that score but hopefully we see him in the UK again next season.3 points

Laguta would never do that would he!3 points

Well that was against all expectations. What a win. I am well know for being pessimistic and after last Wednesday and the abysmal performance I thought the writing was on the wall. So happy to be proved wrong. Now we mustn’t mess it up at Edinburgh.2 points

Those running the sport haven’t got a clue either. It’s one thing to get a guest, such as bomber for example who is a bona fide supporter of the league , but something quite different to bring in a carpet bagger who is just making up his money as the Polish season winds its way to an end. No wonder clubs are struggling to get fans through the gates. It’s a pity they don’t have the ability to rule “ Not in the best interests of Speedway “ to give the league and play- offs some sort of meaning.2 points

The guy who used to do the job moved on to work with Celtic football, tbh he is a great miss at Glasgow as he did the job well,2 points

Wolves fans will though... But to be fair, they seem to moan about lots of things all the time..2 points

Why not? Clubs like Belle Vue and Wolves regularly race on the same day, home and away, on Bank Holidays. Jack Smith is racing as a guest for Glasgow in this match, then high-tailing it down the road to Berwick to ride for BV Colts.2 points

My thoughts on the Zmarzlik situation. I think everyone reasonable would agree that the rules should apply to all equally. All concerned should be responsible for their responsibilities and actions, whether they be failings or not. And this must include those responsible for ensuring the rules are being adhered to, namely Zmarzlik, Morris, Olsson, Ackroyd, & Hanne Thomsen. This did not happen, but only Zmarzlik has been penalized. The FIM jury fell short of their responsibilities as well, and apologised, but have not been held accountable for their failure to ensure the regulations were being complied with. In today's Speedway Star it says "Under section 12.3 of the SGP regulations, riders CAN be fined and disqualified.....................". The critical point is that the regulation is quoted as "CAN", which infers discretion, as it does not say "MUST". Morris states that the only sanction listed for the offence in the rulebook is disqualification, plus fine. Both of those interpretations are diametrically opposed, and cannot both be correct. Everyone has accepted that the rules have been broken, so the only debate is whether the punishment of disqualification was non negotiable by any of the persons involved, or not. "CAN" and "MUST" mean different things. Which was it? Just to muddy the waters further, the regulations further state "The sanction must be proportionate to the offence, and to circumstances................." That again is at loggerheads with Morris's saying there was no option but to disqualify & fine, meaning that being able to be "proportionate" in any way was not an option.2 points

Using juniors is not the answer but using guests within the rules is an acceptable alternative in my view, using an assessed rider is not within the rules.2 points

Good grief - that is bending of the regs at its finest!! Total farce2 points

Interesting to hear the council's Labour group representative say, applying accepted criteria, there is no need for more housing, or a 3G pitch, in the local (presumably, Brandon/Binley Woods) area. The Labour group, he says, supports retaining sporting and cultural assets (such as Brandon Stadium).2 points

Most Polish fans seem to think the exact opposite, play-offs would be ruined by allowing guests. In any other sport in the world (plus foreign Speedway leagues), teams with injuries are weakened, don't know why British Speedway feels this is not fair?2 points

Adams is always the one that springs to mind for me. Probably the last rider to retire who should have won one but didn’t unless I’m missing someone glaringly obvious. Hans Andersen is another. Was the best in the world in 2006 but only got the second half of the GP series when Rickardsson packed it in. A massive digression from the thread there, apologies.2 points
