I think the Aces will use Rew in place of Norick and Lambert for Charles. When you take into account the plus 6 points we start on with topping the table we might make the final and by then we can include Smarslick. Bearing in mind that Foxhall isn’t available now and they have to ride their home leg at Buxton, where Russians aren’t allowed don’t forget I think Sky sports are on a winner here, especially with it being shown on terrestrial BBC for the first time. Note: I was going to check the facts of this post with all the readily available information but I didn’t think it would matter.7 points

Imagine if they had just let it go, and stated that they decided to do so because the rule only says "may". A lot more of a corrupt looking decision than the one they made, which applied the rule as written. Besides, the rule said they may and they did. So where's the issue?5 points

Good to see Doyle hasn't broken anything. Not usually one to criticise Tatum but his commentary was woeful yesterday. I don't think he realised all night that Hansen was promoted into the meeting to replace Zmarzlik. They could do with having someone who understands the rules, can count and has the statistics to feed them that information.5 points

Not sure they will gain much from this sport. All sounds a bit advanced for most speedway fans. Remember, most of them can't even find the GP coverage on the Discovery+ app.5 points

As I said, it's the same in most sports today. In darts, for example, the players must agree to ALL the terms of the contracts, INCLUDING DISPLAYING THE MAIN SPONSOR(S) LOGOS. If not, they don't play. Like it or not, that's the way sports and sports contracts are these days. It was mentioned earlier how Zmarzlik was recently threatened with a fine for not standing in the correct position. It's the same with darts, and players can be fined for walking back from the board on the wrong side. Yes, ALL players are made aware of this stuff, so you can be sure that ALL GP riders know what they need to do.4 points

I don’t think a speedway rider, given their ability to remember to display their sleeve sponsors, branded water bottle or logo cap at the mere sight of a camera, require reminding of their contractual obligations.4 points

I think there's an awful lot of those around at the moment3 points

Pretty sure Rye House and Mildenhall had team racesuits in the 70s. Rye House were sponsored by Alvima or Infradex. Looked very smart Mildenhall had Gold leathers with black tiger stripes. Tassels on the arms too, if the memory ain't playing tricks.3 points

i hope all sponsors logos are being correctly displayed, they pay thousands for us to see them.3 points

Apparently Zmarzlik was wearing "SAVE PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY" on his kevlars hence the disqualification.3 points

I think that introducing a 20mph speed restriction in all built up areas is pure nonsense but that's just my personal opinion.3 points
-
Spot on. It may seem absurd that 7.81 is an assessed average, but as a matter of fact it is. And is clearly shown as such on the Greensheets.3 points

Well Blodorn hasnt scored well recently and Ben Cook is in very good form. They will miss Wright but Lidsey is in great form and Brennan is good at his home track so not as bad as losing Doyle in my opinion.2 points

What a performance from Artem Laguta. Good support from Bewley and Pawlicki. Wroclaw very much in this.2 points

Not sure what it's got to do with you, however it was a Poole fan that brought Plymouth up on this thread, back in your box now.2 points

What a meeting this would have been with a full strength Wroclaw side.2 points

Not sure what any of this has got to do with Poole v Scunthorpe, but there again it is Lewy!!!2 points

And then plenty of people on here would be busy posting about how corrupt speedway is because, yet again, it can't follow it's own rules etc etc.2 points

Can see one big league using Championship averages and a limit around 35/36 plus a RS at 7 or 39 if averages used for all 7....2 points

Should have known that seeing that he saw his career out as a "Cheetah" although injury had really affected him by then...he suffered with reoccurring collarbone trouble if I recall.2 points

So you think that a sponsor who has probably paid 10's of thousands of pounds will just say "that's fine by me". Pull the other one. What do you think will happen at the next GP....... I'll tell you what would happen..... it would happen again, and again. Then it's anarchy, it will be a free for all....... truly seen as a Micky Mouse sport. Can you imagine England playing a world cup football match, and the entre forward says I'm going to wear MY sponsors logo today. If you want speedway to be recognised as a world sport then it's got to be done professionally all As for you point "I think we should be able to see what's gone on here", I agree with you. In an earlier post I commented BZ did a simple mistake, took the wrong kevlars. Others have pointed out he knew what he was doing and giving publicity to HIS main sponsor. If that theory is proved the case I can see BZ being thrown out of the whole series for this year with no certainty of a place for next year. It's getting very interesting.2 points

To be fair it was a shambles from start to finish Zmarzliks disqualification was the first but then we had commentators who clearly didn’t know the rules (not for the first time) a complete failure to provide heat results and then the complete farce of Basso being awarded second then third and back to second again. But the main gripe was the track which was as slick as a baby’s bum (not for the first time at Vojens) which was clearly overwatered at times and offered very little overtaking opportunities although managing to actually stay on the bike was apparently challenging towards the end of the meeting. I have never been to Vojens and to be fair it’s never been high on my bucket list but really the speedway there is bloody awful and one wonders why it was packed last night because it’s pretty much the same every time.2 points

Since the start of the season according to the PGE website & he has been riding for them in the PGE under 24 Extra League so certainly is a squad member.2 points

He just posted this on his Instagram. For those unfamiliar with Polish, allow me to assist; ”They’re bothered about my race suit? Leon Madsen’s that small he gets his from Build-A-Bear. Phil Morris drink or choice is Lambrini and I’m going to win the world title in Toruń, anyway. Bye”2 points

This is so funny ..You get to the final and you have to used Connor Bailey for the likes of Woofy and Magic . This final is a complete joke and has made the rest of the season a waste of time..its amazing people just ignore the crap rules in Polish speedway when be jumping upon anything crap rule in UK speedway..The biggest laugh is trying to make out this is going to be close . Watch out Bart Connor Bailey is next to you on the grid..2 points

If next years gp’s get the”fresh” riders some posters on hear want because “it’s the same ones year by year” THEN you would see the weakest gp field ever for a whole gp year. Next year I would have in the current top 10 plus the SEC winner (possibly) Michelson as it stands, plus the 3 from GP challenge. The GP challenge May put Jan Kvech into next year GP…. that’s how the rules go, but IMO he is not GP quality….yet.2 points

Belle Vue to their credit have shown the ability to run in conditions that other tracks couldn't cope with (far from ideal but possible) Given this and the complications (TV , further date extensions etc) that a postponement would cause I would expect it to go ahead unless Noah turns up with his ark2 points
-
Ok so just to be cynical here. What if he did it on purpose because he was fully expecting to win the title last night? Then every photo on the Polish websites and newspapers would show him with his sponsor displayed front and centre. And from an FIM point of view of the only punishment was financial - even say they increased it to €10,000. Then what would stop the sponsor paying the fine for him - because that kind of exposure would be well worth the money to them…2 points

Certainly the Commentators and Media are not putting their head above the parapet on this one, watching their backsides in case their jobs are at risk maybe. No opinions apart from “ in the rules”2 points

On issue 32 of the Team Declarations https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2023-premiership-declarations/ Robert Lambert has an * against his name. The key says that means an assessed average2 points

I'd prefer nobody was injured, guests on both sides takes the shine off the tie. This is one of the issues with Play Offs unfortunately.2 points

Incredible that no one told him to not go out in those kevlars... So many must have known... Including him, his team and all the meeting officials, as all will be privvy to the rules, and any consequences.... All very strange...2 points

Don’t understand the amount of people defending Zmarzlik. He knows the rules like every single rider in the field, even the reserves would know them! They’ve followed the rules and are being professional, and people still twine and complain! Sponsors will have it wrote in a contract agreement to display there logo in certain places etc. People seem to forget without these sponsors, we wouldn’t have the GP series or it wouldn’t have the field it has. Rules are rules, break them and pay the consequences no matter who you are. Would people be kicking off this much if it was Kim Nilsson or Patryk Dudek? I think not.2 points
-
It doesn’t matter if we have never heard of Infinite Reality. The fact that they have been prepared to splash the cash on speedway is great news and Zmarzlik has abused the rules. If he got away with it then all other riders would as well and the sponsorship would be lost and a possible lawsuit appearing which would kill off the sport. The fact that the WC and leader of the series broke the rules is even worse imo.2 points
-
Sponsors have paid a small fortune to have their name plastered on the riders kevlars, especially the Infinate Reality splashed front and center. For the WC to not have this but his own sponsor is a major breach of the rules. More I think about it, I can understand why he has been punished. Won’t make a mistake like that again.2 points
-
I appreciate the frustration at Zmarzlik’s disqualification from the meeting, but these rules are set in FIM contracts which the riders adhere to; Zmarzlik has no-one to blame, but himself. I’m assuming it’s sponsor-related. Any external investment in speedway is welcome and appreciated, so riders cannot pick and choose what they wear when it comes to advertising.2 points
