Okay, I’ll say it again, wow. First of all, both sets of riders should take a bow because the racing we were served was nothing short of world class. I’ve never heard a roar like when Harris and Brennan hit the front in the first heat or when Pijper and Complin did the same in heat two, but when Tarasenko passed Masters in the thirteenth heat, Ashfield was lucky it didn’t have a roof because it would have came off. The goods weren’t only served-up by Glasgow though, because Masters pulled-off a last gap pass on Harris in that first heat, Jordan Jenkins outstandingly took over Basso in heat five while Masters was basically dancing with Brennan in the tenth heat before bettering him. Did anyone notice Heeps versus Basso for third in heat four? Wow. 60MPH, side-by-side at times and inches from the fence. Basso didn’t get past, but that was an incredible piece of track geography by Heeps to stay ahead. I’ve no idea how he managed it. It was almost as if the racing line was a lottery. There was passing on the outside and there was passing on the inside, both on the bends and on the straights. Incredible. Michael Max was back in the centre green one last time, so I felt like everything just came together again as I relived my youth. That smell of burning methanol is better than the aroma coming out of any Michelin starred restaurant on the planet. The Ashfield I last saw and the Ashfield I experienced last night was night-and-day. It adds to the spectacle. Apologies for the rant, but this guys hooked on speedway all over again and is devastated the season is coming to an end, but will be back for the play-offs, 100%.17 points

Place was jammed last night just as well as we have a massive wage bill according to BSF accounting.9 points

Speedway IS on its arse. Several clubs are on the brink of extinction, 3 riders have failed drink/drugs tests in the past few months, more have "withheld their services" and the sport is still (for the most part) badly run in poor stadia unfit for the modern age, attendances number a few hundred hardy souls at most clubs and the streaming you mentioned barely has any significance outside of people who already follow and support speedway. But one exciting meeting changes all that? I want to take a shot of whatever you've taken!8 points

That was my first speedway meeting since 2016 and second in ten years; I’m hooked again. I’ve no idea where to begin, but it won’t be tonight. I’m knackered, so I’ll fire my thoughts in here tomorrow, but wow. The atmosphere, the smell, the racing, unbelievable.8 points

It is impossible. Totally utterly impossible to have watched last night and not have every aspect of your love for this sport not restored and amplified. it was wonderous.7 points

Well..... you wouldn't think there was a meeting on at Berwick tonight. 5 and a half hours before tapes up and neither team have a preview on their websites. The BSPL have TBC in both teams, so heaven only knows what the line-ups are. If the teams (particularly the hosts) can't be bothered, then why should the fans. And they wonder why the sport is dying on its backside.6 points

Honestly cracks me up on here. Best meeting you're ever likely to see and got the usual suspects on here looking for negatives. Glasgow speedway must have some amount of accountants that everyone knows what our riders get. Gees peace. Bare in mind we never wanted to make the change and Vadim wasn't even first choice!! Anyway, what a bloody meeting that was, first class from all 14 riders. Ben's tape touch probs cost us the bonus and good to see Lee back among the points. More of the same in play offs please6 points

What have the failed (none negative )drugs/alcoholic tests got to do with how the sports performing. I work in an industry where we are tested, is it the companies fault if idiots break the rules and get caught? Withholding services? Happens in every sport, want a transfer but the managers not letting you go ? The difference being they have squad systems that can replace defective or ineffective players. I 100% agree that the sports organisation and rules are a joke and something my 5 year old could write. What ruffles my feathers is having people continuously drone on about how horrific the sport is and how it's going to be the end of speedway. Speedway will never ever die and if anyone thinks it is they need a quick shake up to how life works. As long as people like seeing bikes go round and round in circles and riders like riding bikes anti clockwise there will be some form of speedway.5 points

Was my guess as Ben and bomber couldn't take r/r ride they got heat 15 as meeting was won and bonus wasn't affecting anything.4 points

What a read this thread has been, a rollercoaster. Some people just not grasping it. How dare he not ride for Redcar on a Sunday rather than the Ekstraliga play off semi final infront of a sell out crowd with Laguta, Bewley, Janowski as teammates!4 points

It's a view I suppose... he's seriously suggesting that driving a car is comparable to racing professional competitive motor sport. I can't believe a director of a Speedway club is advocating riders pumping themselves full of steroids/HGH in order to be competitive. Speedway is struggling enough to be taken seriously this would be the final straw for many I would suspect, the media would drop it in a heartbeat for starters. He says Speedway falls into line with sports like athletics or weightlifting, not quite true, it falls into line with almost all other professional sports. He's also suggesting that riders are required to walk in a straight line or something before a meeting to test whether they're "fit" to ride. I think he's had one dram too many before writing that post!3 points

Fricke a very decent replacement for Woffy - certainly any perceived weakening there is more than offset by Vissing being missing Too close to call overall - could come down to which side gets that little bit of extra luck at a crucial time If ever Erik and Keynan wanted an opportunity to repay the loyalty and faith shown in them these next few weeks are it......3 points

Staring a new Drinking game. Every time I see a post including the phrases: "Speedway is on its arse" Or "Final nail in the coffin of speedway" You take a shot. Rewind 2 years ago, there was very little championship speedway being streamed at a professional level. Now we have multiple meetings every flippin week, coming at you in Sky Sports quality productions. If you don't like it, sod off and watch cricket, I'm sure you'll find it far more entertaining.3 points

Whinging toad, seems to be ruffled too easily. I understand he runs a pub, but I bet they’ve never had a happy hour.3 points

Oxford were very good tonight but the whole package was excellent tonight, the racing and the atmosphere from a large crowd plus the glorious weather. Whats not to like.3 points

Thought Simon Lambert did very well tonight. He did Plymouth proud. Also got to mention Jacob hook who was tremendous . That’s the season over but already looking forward to 2024 .2 points

Our coverage last night won’t have showed you how many were in attendance very well as our cameras are on the 1st and 4th bends, looking away from the grandstand and the home straight where the majority of supporters sit/stand.2 points

Agree, what a sad ending to the season for all concerned.2 points

Cherries are playing Stoke at Vitality. Would affect attendance.2 points

WHY INDEED? Can only assume from that he doesn’t want us to continue either at the EoES or elsewhere!2 points

Truth is we'll never know, but if he hadn't fallen off and managed to have an injury and fall-free run for the first weeks of the season I expect things would have been very different. I do agree with a previous comment, it's a bit of a coincidence that the team has become a lot stronger since the former co promoter left the scene2 points

Don't think things would've been very different - I wouldn't be surprised if he was only due for 28 days anyway2 points

Have you got a link to where I can buy some of these rose tinted glasses please? The four riders on the track has never been in doubt. That’s always been the draw. It’s the rest that has been, and still is, failing massively.2 points

I’d imagine they’d do 1 home meeting from all 6 clubs if they can. Easier said than done for the Friday ones.2 points

GP riders swear if they get a camera shoved in their face after something happens that they’re not happy with. No speedway rider needs PR lessons, not enough people care.2 points

Hopefully, BSN will stream where there is no in-house streaming, like Oxford and Glasgow until the final when I guess they will then stream both legs. ?2 points

Poole didn't win the league, they topped the qualifying table. I think that should mean they are league champions, but they are not (yet?) I don't think the jumped the gun announcing a match on Wednesday, for example Redcar & Scunthorpe may have both agreed to go to Poole or Oxford on Wednesday, depending who picked them. You'd think Poole would choose Edinburgh, but I really can't decide between Redcar & Scunthorpe, who is the better option to race against?2 points

Didn't look like it was on its arse in Glasgow tonight. I think anyone who came, whoever they support, was thoroughly entertained and I can't think anyone regretted spending their money at Ashfield tonight. It did go on a bit, but it didn't seem like many cared given what they saw.2 points

The sport in this country is going to be a poorer place when Bomber finally retires2 points
-
Actually, I think having the likes of Tarasenko in this country is the complete opposite of the sport being “on its arse” His arrival in the Championship has opened up the race for the play offs. And I doubt he’s more expensive than, say, Schlein so not much cash needed splashed.2 points

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. However, no one knows what would've happened if that first corner, on the first lap, in the first meeting didn't happen2 points

Charles Wright has given everything for Redcar for many years. Been on the lower end of wages despite being one of the top riders in the league. Turned down numerous approaches for much more money from other clubs. Hes now been given a once in a lifetime (especially at his age) opportunity to ride in the top league in the world and has to miss a match that ultimately means nothing for Redcar. Playoffs are confirmed and league position now means nothing. Give the guy a break!2 points

Seems to be a bit of pals act going on with you. On one hand you defend Worrall for ‘saying it as it is’ and verbally abusing a fan online. Then on the other hand you are saying this? Of course the vast majority do not know the full picture! The vast majority are only interested in the actual sport not the personal lives of the riders. @davieb1 is only commenting on this from a sporting perspective. Everybody has their own issues and there are hundreds of riders in this country that ride week in week out that do not behave the way Cook does. How long do you expect people to keep giving him a pass for?2 points

I think it makes perfect sense - a 2 legged tie is different from a mini league. At the risk of staying the obvious, a 2 legged tie is one where the outcome is decided over 2 legs. So a knock out cup round or a play off final (and semi in the case of the Premiership) is a 2 legged tie, a league, full or mini, isn’t.1 point

Something about this struck a chord about this topic and hey presto I found it. Scunny v Eastbourne June 21. Kyle Newman tyre, disintegrated. Plenty of pictures if you search for it. Maybe Skidder you could ask Kyle. I'm sure he'd remember it. Sometimes Refs aren't interested. Clerks of the Course feel compromised. Mark had the balls to ride round Exeter, that's proof enough for anyone to know he has rider safety at heart. Hopefully Plymouth will stay under BSPL and not be lost.1 point

You cant say that on here Rusky . But your right. Look at the team since CJ jacked cleaning the bogs. It will get the usual laughing emoji's from the usual suspects no doubt1 point
