The information did not come to light until 3 minutes before we went on air. At that point there was no official statement, we were simply informed they had been removed on medical grounds. Once the SCB statement was released we made sure to read it to inform the fans. Anything prior to that is speculation and we are not looking to get into that. So yes, any other broadcast organisation would have done exactly that, went by the book not rumour.27 points

Hi, The reason is because our resources are stretched to the limit at the moment. We are a small team - away from race days it is only myself and Martin Hunter that run the business, including all admin, video editing, customer support, promotion, graphic design and stream preparation. Although a stream is only 3 hours long to the customer/viewer, the reality for us is that it’s a day’s prep for the stream itself, an 18-24 hour shift on the day of the event (travel, setup, stream, pack down and travel) and then half a days admin for reporting, customer support, paying staff etc. This week we are streaming 4 days (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) in locations stretching from Plymouth to Glasgow, so we are working around the clock every day just for the streaming of the events alone. Nobody has ever put out as much live British Speedway in the timescale we have - it’s a huge undertaking. So we simply don’t have the time to add video editing to that when our schedule is so demanding - the streams obviously have to take priority. Ideally we would have somebody assigned to video edit for us, but we stream to a niche audience when compared to sports such as football for example, so the finances are simply not there to allow that to happen. A huge proportion of our profits are given to British Speedway, as BSN was created to support it. A big problem we have is that we are suffering massively from piracy. We are a small company (basically 2 speedway fans who are trying to do something positive to support British Speedway), yet we have been targeted by a small number of criminals who are selling our stream via IPTV for massively reduced rates to profit from us. It’s the biggest threat to BSN’s survival! Some even have the audacity to boast about this here on the forum and on social media. That said, we have some very good news on this front and will be making a public statement in the near future. I can’t say much more on this, but anyone using these illegal services are committing a crime and should be very careful. Watch this space! It’s also important to remember that we are a very new company (just over a year old). Rome wasn’t built in a day, but we are committed to progressing quickly and have made rapid progress since we created BSN. Improvements such as more consistency on the video editing side are in the pipeline as we expand our team, who are all speedway enthusiasts such as ourselves and have been incredible to us. Please give us some more time and we will get to where we want and where our viewers want us to be. Onwards and upwards! Hopefully that gives some explanation and thanks for your support. A big massive THANK YOU to all Speedway Supporters across the U.K. who have taken time out to put comments and/or objections to the development proposals of the East of England Showground that will ultimately see the end of Peterborough Speedway, you are top people and clearly love your sport! However we need more comments, we need a ground swell of support from anyone, anywhere. Already the number of comments/objections has raised eyebrows, please if you can, leave your comments. Here’s how to do it: Search Google ‘Peterborough City Council Planning Applications’ Search the planning register ‘Showground’ You will see the two applications references are: 23/00400/OUT and 23/00412OUT click on either and/or both Click on documents Click on associated documents You will then see the comments/objections that have been already left there are 25 to a page. Go down the different page numbers to eventually find the planning application detail. To make a comment/objection go back to the page where the associated documents link was and click the comments link. Leave your comments/objections and press submit. Anyone can comment/object. You can comment on both applications. Your support is so appreciated.7 points

I saw Dan Bewley at 16 years-old, riding for Edinburgh at Ashfield and if you told me he’d win the British GP six years later, I’d have spat my bovril all over my Rusty Harrison programme board. I’m not an expert, but this young man - Boughen - enters corners with pace, technique and confidence very rarely seen in a teenager, so that’s worth talking about alone.5 points

The Pandemic got in the way of timescales, so yes, the athletes were put up in Student Accommodation on the University campuses in Birmingham. The construction of 947 apartments on the site of the former University, which can be clearly seen on photos of the stadium was finished not long after the Commonwealth Games. And to this date, not a single person lives in any of them. Not one has been sold and not one has been rented out. And nobody has any idea when the rest of the development site is going to be started upon, which will feature more apartments between those already constructed and the One Stop Shopping Centre (to the south of the stadium) and an estate of town houses that will be built between the apartments and Wellhead Lane. All this available development land and all these unoccupied properties, and someone thinks it's a great idea to tear down a functioning facility in order to build more apartments that might also never be sold or rented. It Beggers belief.5 points

Is it not the case that they only take 1 sample and split it into 2 as the 2nd sample as the standard procedure. It is in a lot of other sports.4 points

to be fair after his last few meetings, his services weren't up to much anyway!! However to be serious, the guy has some major health issues to overcome, and for his own good and others, he should have to pass some sort of approved health exam before being allowed back.4 points

Been ferreting again. Companies House has a lot of useful information, all of which is in the public domain and can be identified, repeated and understood! The whole story has been described in the 2022 Annual Report of the Charity/company known as the "East of England Agricultural Society" including the family trees of the whole place and what money has been allocated (not to be spent until the end of Phase One of the actual development). Most relevant is that the report does not mention the Speedway anywhere in it, including the report on the B/S that was put to the council when describing the wonderland this change as going to invent. I think they made an off-the-cuff remark to the council that the only comments they have had about the speedway were complaining about the noise. OK so it is a bit noisy for around 15 minutes every other week for about 6 months of the year, but I suspect that could be a bit of an issue for anyone who only hears a golf ball being displaced a few yards at a time. Many years ago, the local farmers cooperative charity devised a company known as "East of England Showground Services Ltd" who actually managed the day-to-day Showground events and passed their profits to the charity for good charitable uses(Not owned by the farmers now, but two familiar names crop up yet again now).. The charity lists a whole load of events that were held at the showground in 2022, but again do not mention the speedway at all again. Bottom line is that anyone reading these various documents and going to any AEPG presentations would have no idea at all that the speedway even existed. AEPG is apparently the overall holding company now (a company with one director, one £1 share and £1 of assets). AEPG is listed by the Services company as the owner of that company and it looks as though the land owner is still the charity until that Phase One completion. Apparently that constitutes a viable operation! Like I said, all information that is in the Public Domain. When we had a similar planning situation round here, our long-time councillors were ousted and replaced with independents. These councillors took the residents side in the planning committee meeting that was meant to rubber stamp the plan and the developers had to go back and lick their wounds and either give up and try somewhere else for their future income, or appeal - we await the next instalment of this particular fight. The new councillors pointed out to us that it was perfectly legitimate that as well as making all the consultation comments, we should write to each member of the planning committee detailing our concerns just before the actual planning approval committee meeting - it is called lobbying.. Obviously non-Peterborough speedway supporters cannot do this, but there are plenty by the looks of the planning portal.4 points

Won’t happen it has been going on for at least 30 years that I have known of, excuses including pot laced fruit cake, spiked drinks, cough medication and still is now, if you are lucky they admit when they have been found to have taken harder substances. The argument for drinking someone brought it for me and I didn’t know what was in it, I only had a pint, I used a hand sanitiser etc. When Darcy was done for drinking at the Latvian gp, another rider was interviewed and said it’s all well and good testing for alcohol but drug tests needed to be conducted more regularly and how many years ago was that? If it had been the year before I could have told you several names that were up ‘til 2am doing shots in Latvia, that would have been banned. You are very wrong in thinking it is the more elite riders that are the only ones to gain. Think about it the more you can score (points that is) the more money you get, you may not do it every meeting trying not to draw to much attention but how many riders have you seen over the years who have been riding badly then have a maximum the next week. I am not saying this is the case for all riders in that situation but you are left with a question over it. I have seen posts on other sites from ex-riders saying it’s the tip of the iceberg and they could tell you the names of many riders that are taking drugs. Let’s face it, it’s that well known amongst the riders then in some cases officials at the club also see what is happening. What I don’t understand is if it’s that well known who is abusing the rules why is nobody informing on them? What they are doing endangers everyone on the centre (medics, track staff, riders, photographers etc.). The question that you will never know the answer to is how many accidents have been caused as a result of someone who has taken something on the banned list alcohol/drugs? How many careers have been ended or life changing injuries caused because of this? Also why do the drug test just at the start of the meeting, if you are going to try and beat the system as some do, some riders/mechanics get warning calls that there are tests being done at that meeting (then suddenly you hear the van has broken down, food poisoning, traffic jams etc.). Would you turn up under the influence or once you know the test has been done or is not happening what’s to stop you from taking something then, some drugs are absorbed into the system quicker than others. The bottom line is that all riders know the license conditions and what drugs (legal or otherwise, including alcohol) they can or cannot take and even if they don’t it is their responsibility to make sure they comply with the regulations.4 points

Probably about time people stopped making excuses for Worrall, the guy is an absolute walloper and an embarrassment to his brother who conducts himself with the utmost professionalism. Richie has no respect for the paying fan. The only people who respect him are the ‘risks his life for our entertainment’ crowd. The remarks he made recently on social media in response to some light criticism were nothing short of appalling.4 points

I actually care about my beloved Leicester Lions and do not like the current mess we are actually in. That said, I do take the sport in this country for what it really is, amateurish at best. If those of us that follow the sport can't have a laugh, I can assure you that there are millions of non followers that would pee themselves if they were given an insight as to what actually goes on in British Speedway. Thank goodness it is a minority sport!3 points

Oh wow, Love the way that you can't resist a dig at the Tories for their 8 years in tenure, in which they were actually in coalition with the Lib/Dems. So, it's all their fault now? Nothing to do with Labour who were in charge forever before 2004 and who've been in charge for the 11 years since 2012? But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a good politically motivated punchline, eh? In reality the Equal Pay dispute has been decades in the making, decades in the disputing by ALL political parties, and now has finally been acknowledged as a major issue following years of heads of all persuasions being buried in the sand. If you want to point the fingers of blame, look to the Unions who have the ability to pull their bin MEN out on strike if they don't get juicer cuts of the pay budget as opposed to those Unions in the social care sector who look after mainly WOMEN who aren't as militant and consequently couldn't hold the council to the same level of blackmail, leading to the pay inequalities that resulted. Add up the little differences here and the little differences there, and they all add up over time, and it's been a long time in the making. And in any case, the issues over the lease on the stadium and the Planning Application will be over before the next council election so any thoughts about the political landscape changing is not going to alter anything.3 points

So rather than try to prevent a potential problem in an already dangerous sport, wait until someone gets hurt or worse than test? Riiight…3 points

I think is should be obvious, yes you are aware what is happening but if for any reason you got a name wrong or an implication is made that turn out to be false or an error you would leave yourselves wide open to being sued. Therefore you guys can’t say anything until you receive an official communication of what has happened. For example the BBC has to have a story they are covering confirmed from at least two sources before they can report something.3 points

After following the sport for nearly 40 years I've struggled to take team speedway seriously in GB for a while. Riders doubling up and down and guesting all over the place! It's quickly becoming a case of just having any rider in the meeting to get it on irrespective of club affiliations! Sad times.3 points

The SCB have now released a statement confirming that Worrall and Boxall were the ones tested and provided ' non negative ' results. This coincides with the riders names that did not compete in the Plymouth v Berwick match. Thanks for the SCB clearing up all the doubts by stating the bleeding obvious on this matter.2 points

That doesn’t lower your inhibition’s though, one of the reasons for using cocaine for example (and going on what other rider have said) is that it gives you a false sense of confidence which means you go for gaps that any other rider would not dream of taking.2 points

It’s not just about age but experience, cook for example in his 3rd year in uk speedway, if rew is only a 4.8 rider in 3 years I’d be very surprised. in terms of the best young Aussie tag he is the current Aussie u21 champ - surely a good metric for that claim. currently 2nd in the sgp2 standings also2 points

The lad just needs to ride his bike as much as possible. Whether that's PL, CL or NL. The more experience he gets the better. A winter spent down under riding every day would certainly do him no harm. But at 16 that's a big step.2 points

You are going through exactly what I went through. I came back last season after about six years out. I couldn't believe the difference and what people now put up with. I've resided myself to just enjoying the racing and my team rather than try and get my head into it. Teams have just vanished! With absolutely no rumbles of life to get them going again.. it's tragic.2 points

Done this many times . Even the slowest trains used to get us to Pardubice in 90 mins , buy some bus tickets at the train station on arrival for a few Czk's & jump on the speedway special bus to the the stadium. Once you get used to the system it's quite easy & as many have stated previously the Golden Helmet weekend is something every speedway fan should exprience at least once.2 points

38.7 currently so under this years rules, your team is doable and just shows you can build a very good side by retaining the top two. You could also replace Douglas with Ellis giving an extra point, move Thompson to rising star and then find a 4 pointer at 6. There’ll be plenty of options if they go the top heavy route again.2 points

The drug testing company used turn up in the pits only about an hour prior to the start time & only the Referee will be told to expect them. As the rules state that all riders need to be at the track at least an hour before they should not be missing. I'm not saying it has not happened in the past but the testers learn quickly. There can be no excuse for taking any type of drug, the selected riders are asked before any testing is done have they taken any drugs at all & even headache & flu medication would be suggested. I know a rider once failed an alcohol test after using mouthwash. It was a minimal reading & the tester offered him time &suggested he rinse with cold water then the second test was a zero reading.2 points

I don't know, I'm just a punter who turns up, pays and goes home, I'm not party to all the rumours, only what I read on here really. There seems several types of potential offence, recreational, performance enhancing, medication or faulty test. I can't think that unless you were near the pinnacle of the sport you'd be using performance enhancers. Ignorance is no defence for medication and then there's recreational. Speedway, being an extreme sport, naturally attracts those seeking the high of an adrenaline rush... maybe that's just not enough for some riders. This needs stamping out... and right now. You'd hope to hear of some elevated testing from now until the end of the season from the authorities2 points

Nice gesture from the Lions management. When you put it like that it's hard to resist, I've done Auschwitz, the salt mines and Krakow... well worth spending time at... just a shame about those first 3 events when we know what the Wroclaw track can serve up But apart from probably the best world cup final in history, the emotive attractions, the lovely weather, the beautiful sights and architecture and the cheap prices what have the Poles ever done for us?2 points

People should be careful what they wish for, you couldn't ask for a better place than Cardiff, over the 20yrs there's been more excellent meetings than bad ones. BV is a great track but sadly lacks everything else that attracts people to Cardiff. Leave Cardiff and speedway for Britain takes a step backwards in my opinion.2 points
