You do realize he is still only 16 and learning very quickly, at that age you are invariably going to be inconsistent, Young Ace is coming along just nicely and has exceeded my expectations, honestly I have no idea what some people are expecting.6 points

My God TV meeting threads are full of moaning and groaning. Certainly nowhere near the best NSS meeting you've seen due to the grippiness/recent rain but those last few heats were excellent. Still comfortably the best track in the UK if not the world.5 points

My thoughts exactly. I've never been to iwade but sure I've read it's quite a specialist track if not set up then can struggle. Like you said he's a young kid, he's taken quite a few bumps in last month or so. He's not tai woffinden but no one ever thought he would be. He's doing fine and should be left alone to develop. About 3rd or 4th time this has come up this season as if it's ace that's the problem we're looking 3rd/4th team in the league, ridiculous5 points

It may prevent casual call offs but unscrupulous teams could manipulate an abandonment to secure an otherwise unachievable point…lol.5 points

Seemed a decent crowd for a TV match too.. A few Sheffield fans there as well to add a bit of atmosphere.. Woffy added a bit of panto villain moments as well.. Booooooooo!!!! My lad said "if it was like this every week the place would be packed"... He isn't wrong...4 points

Best rider in the league and one of the nicest, stood for pictures for a good 15 minutes, class act.4 points

Woffy has been great, but greatest ever British rider I'm not sure on that. Most world titles yes but best isn't something that's clear cut. Peter Collins for me would be above on that list as would Peter Craven (who would almost certainly added to his 2 world titles).4 points

Yep. What a bad career move it would be if his average went down so he could take more guest bookings and be a more attractive proposition for teams to sign next year.4 points

Totally agree but the way Kent has been treated by the authorities beggars belief. No doubt Vatcher has had an hand in the way Kent have been bullied and the rest of the governing body should hang their heads in shame but in the cold light of day they probably could not care less. They allowed the IOW to drift away and yet the IOW seem to be doing reasonably well because they understand the business model that works for them but you look at the sports governing body and they seem to despise those who want/need to do something different. Fixed race nights do not work given the rate of the current outstanding fixtures and need to extend the cut off date, you no longer have the flexibility in the running of 5he sport. Whatever happened to the days of open licence tracks? Where are the current day promoters who did what it said on the tin (Len Silver, Dave Lanning, Johnnie Hoskins, Charles Ochiltree, etc.) who entertained the punters and engaged with the supporters to create an atmosphere that made the rivalry an art. Under today’s regime you have the power brokers whose mantra is do as we say. If I had a track the only game in town would be Nora with invitational meets with top riders invited on the assurance of top quality sponsorship. Maybe easier said than done but I am sure if you plan an event with the best in town riding and exposure through the most popular media channels targeting the widest audience, sponsors would be interested. Sponsors are not interested in league meetings simply because you do not have the top riders competing against each other and they have become boring because of the contrived rules and regulations. Teams like Kent need encouragement and support, not penalising. BSPL think on.4 points

I wasn't going to come tonight but then I found out that our British Superstar, and the No1 name in Speedway, would be here... So had to come and see him... Woffy is here too, which is a bonus...3 points

Don't you think it would be wise to wait & see what Bomber has to say before passing judgement?3 points

He certainly wasn’t woeful, racing decent riders though.Maybe he is more of small track specialist given his Rye House years.Just as good as anyone we’ve had at reserve this season though.3 points

The BSPL has a saying for the smaller amateur like teams, and it is "Do as we say not do as we do" but you only have to look at the state the the Sport has got itself into after being led by the BSPL, BSPL Speedway has got itself into a position where it is no longer viable in it's present form yet the BSPL continue to resist change in the areas where it is most needed, the promoters at Kent have gone above and beyond what is needed to keep the Sport alive in the South East yet the BSPL seem to have offered no help in there hour of need, in fact earlier on in the year they seem to have done the exact opposite and allegedly gave them a suspended fine if I remember correctly, the BSPL is in fact not fit for purpose.3 points

I used to quite enjoy looking on these forms, people used to actually talk about Speedway and all the good things it has to offer. However, more recently it seems to be generally full of people who do nothing but moan, complain, are rude and just down right nasty. It's full of comments that have no relevance to the truth or are just made up rubbish. Arrogant self-opinionated people, who obviously have nothing better to do with their life other than put people down and think they are either funny, clever, or both. It really is simple. Perhaps have an open mind to things, stop trying to see a conspiracy in everything and that people are trying to rip you off all the time. It's a fantastic sport. Enjoy it, go and watch a meeting on a lovely summer's evening, except it for what it is.................... Get a grip.2 points

Peterborough have a run of home meeting which is a track I’m sure he prefers as a home circuit so lots of earning potential. Won’t be in the playoffs with Peterborough but can do the guest bookings instead. if his average drops that’s a advantage for next season. Good move I’d suggest2 points

Did Tai ride enough meetings in 2016 to gain a new average? Was Joonas fit to ride in those consecutive meetings? Was the ringer rule brought in for the 2017 season? Just trying to get my facts straight. Thanks in advance for your assistance in answering these questions.2 points

Worrall and Lawson don’t get on cook and Lawson ain’t best friends either I think maybe Lawson is making way for someone else to2 points

That’s an interesting thought, although they would need Holder to return by 31 August. Not sure if Pickering and/or Ellis and/or Kerr would be excited at the prospect of being released …2 points

I was even including an interval in the 2 hours! You could run 20 heats in 1.5 hours if the will was there.2 points

I never understood why many regarded the British final mainly just as a qualifying round of the World championship. It is first and foremost the final of the British Championship, in itself a worthy title to aim for.2 points

I agree with all above, but just to add that It baffles me that some need passing for it to be a good race, the heat 5 of Dan v Tai was a great race with no passing. Going back to your post the atmosphere is what gets fans coming back, tonight was sensational, and the aggregate bonus point kept it going all the way.1 point

The racing for the NSS was only "OK" in all honesty, cracking last few races apart.. It was the noise generated by a decent crowd and having some away fans there that made the real difference tonight, for me.. "Local Derbies", in particular should maybe have both teams discounting away fans' ticket prices..? There were around 20 Sheffield fans there tonight on the back straight, and they made some noise.. But a couole of hundred would have added even more. Maybe knocking 200 tickets out at a tenner each for away fans each meeting, not just derbies, would help add that much needed atmosphere, so desperately missing most weeks, at most tracks.. Hardly any travel now away, so not much to lose, if anything.. Quite easy to "police" too, to ensure only away fans get them.. Spent 48 quid for me and my lad tonight, and came away very pleased with the value for money that got delivered...1 point

Brilliant meeting that, atmosphere was sensational. If speedway was like that every week it would be full stands.1 point

Best white shirt too... All the stops pulled out tonight...1 point

This was when Lawson was on the podcast as the guest and he was asked about leaving KL. He seemed to indicate the travelling between KL and Poole for home meetings was too much.1 point

I thought Rory was number 1 also but he is number 9. He meets Scott Nicholls, Ben Basso and Craig Cook in his first race (Berwick website). https://www.berwickspeedway.com/news/rory-to-roar-in-redcar/1 point

Interestingly, Bowtell and Atkins have exactly same average as Rowe, or you could have Nielsen or Starke who are slightly lower. Although @Bagpuss won't like it if we have Atkins as a guest1 point

If Dickson can get Craig’s head right, I’m quite optimistic. When the Lions started up again in 2011, for the first few seasons, Cookie was very difficult to beat at Leicester and we used to dream of him moving to us. Things have moved on since then (I used to have hair etc) I know but if he can gate, he will hold his own. Must admit, I’m not sure what he will deliver away though.1 point

We had a night out in Sittingbourne last night with Leicester being rained off. Enjoyed the meeting today plus another track ticked off I’d never been to. About 2.5 hours off home now …….1 point

...I was a bit like that with SKY "LIve" meetings one argument being that it would attract sponsorship which it never really succeeded.1 point

I still can’t get my head around the idea that streaming is the answer, when all that does is take away the spectators paying their entrance money at the tracks1 point

Is it not just down to fixed race nights and riders being able to plan their calendars much more easily, as opposed to previously when race nights were all over the place?1 point
