As has already been pointed out, the issue is Oxford said the meeting was on AFTER it stopped raining, so it has nothing to do with the weather forecast. The forecast after 5pm ish (when it stopped raining) was actually for overcast with spells of sunshine. Oxford even tweeted a lovely picture of blue skies! A lot of people made the decision to travel once that had been confirmed, therefore presuming the meeting would be on. There was no rain between that 5pm time and 8pm when it was called off - meaning it was purely down to a wrong call by Oxford in regards to the state of the track. Jamie Courtney even stated that himself in the 'apology' post on the website, so stop going on about people making a call knowing about a bad weather forecast. It's just not true.9 points

Going back to Berwick v Poole £1,000 was collected at the meeting in aid of injured Bandit Thomas Jorgensen7 points

Any rider with the slightest bit of ability would not have fallen, and certainly not jumped off the back launching his bike at Adam Roynon. It was the slightest of touches and Roynon was completely passed. Wood is a danger to himself and other riders at this level. Shouldn’t be riding Championship speedway.7 points

Do you honestly think Poole should be awarded the victory after 5 heats? Again I'm sure on forums individuals aren't allowed to be targeted specifically, but I am seriously questioning your ability to tie your own shoelaces. Speedway is raced over 15 heats and a meeting result can only stand after 10 heats have been completed. Thinking a little further, are you by any chance behind the construction of the rulebook and league schedule this year, cause if so, that would make a lot of sense.6 points

Just shows what a farce the season has been when just about every team (in both divisions) had spells of several weeks without fixtures. When you consider Plymouth have not had a home meeting since 20th June you have to wonder if they will be able to complete their season both time wise and with the financial burden double headers etc could bring? Sooner we go back to one big league with teams able to race on their chosen race night and have weekly meeting the sooner British Speedway may recover.6 points

The Facenna‘s in my opinion are one of the best things to happen to Scottish and British speedway.5 points

Everyone will be pleased to hear Peter (the photographer) has posted an update to let everyone know his condition thank god it’s not as bad as first feared. Hello all. Thought I'd provide a quick update. First of all a massive THANK YOU to everyone who took the Time to message and call. I truly felt the love of the Speedway Family and am blessed to be part of it. I have just come out surgery to close two wounds on my head. All went well. I do have small breaks to my C2 and C3 vertebra and will be in a neck bracelet for about 12 weeks but again everything will be fine.4 points

Aye riders knew how to adjust their handlebars, tyre pressures and wheelbase length back then to adjust to the conditions and kept an old boiler suit or pyjamas in their kitbag3 points

I am finding myself in full agreement with you. Which I am also finding rather uncomfortable.3 points

Don’t get your knickers in a twist Steve. We can ride on Saturdays as an off race night. So they’ll be no forfeiting of ties. Daft suggestion also but expected.3 points

Just came up short today, tough track to pass on. Well done to our lads for their efforts today hopefully we can get the aggregate point on the return leg. Plenty of noise from the travelling Comets fans!3 points

Running 4TTs would mean promoters would only have income from 1 home meeting in 4, there would be more riders to pay, and as you say more heats. No matter how many riders you have in a team, someone will get injured and you'll still have to replace them somehow, except that one rider will now represent 25% of your lineup rather than 14% of it, so the relatively impact will be greater on your team. On another note, if speedway can't run 20 heats in under 2 hours, turn it really sums up what's wrong with the sport.3 points
-
Why is it wrong? He wasn't brought in to strengthen them, but to replace an injured rider. Wouldn't have been signed otherwise. Far more preferable than borrowing a rider from another club.3 points

For all the whinging about Complin guesting for Poole, there has been very little solution been given, and the majority of solutions given being an absolute load of crap. At the end of the day riders are for the most part paid for points, and at this level it isn't always the best paid job. So if Lee can earn some extra money taking a guest booking, then I can't see the problem? And its hardly something new, guests have always been part and parcel to speedway, a necessary for a dangerous sport where injuries arise. The way I see it is Poole shouldn't be punished for a rider getting injured, so the suggestion that they should have to field a lesser averaged rider because they're at reserve is ludicrous. And if a rider can earn extra money, they should also be allowed to.3 points

Complin is doing nothing special at Berwick it’s just Berwick are not very good at home.3 points
-
It is. Along with clay tracks, home tac subs and race jackets. I'm just turning into a grumpy old man But I care about British speedway and hate seeing it going down the pan by its own doing.3 points
-
Exactly. Poole get a good guest, Complin earns a few quid extra, everyone's a winner.....except those who value sporting integrity, some of whom probably don't go any more having walked away.3 points

I have always said and I still say that any abandoned fixtures should not be rerun , but each team awarded 1 point. Would incentivise the promotions to race the fixtures - and prevent casual call offs due to reasons various. Might be considered harsh ..... but we would see fixtures complete by the cut off and the p. offs being run in a timely manner. As for the fixture list .... never been any different in recent seasons.2 points

Big well done all you fans that made the journey, Sittingbourne is a long way from Workington . I was thinking about doing both meetings but the forecast for Saturday knocked it on the head for me personally.2 points

6 and 7 last year started with Danyon and Connor Year before Jensen and Connor Year before Bickley and eventually Connor Before that was Sarjant and thomas I wouldn't say the past have been a problem at reserve, I would completely agree that this year it has been a weak spot, but the management went in knowing full well that Ace was in his first year and making his average was the Goal, which he has done. This put all the focus on Lee scoring well at 6.2 points

Pretty much nailed on I would say, probably already taken a guest booking.2 points

Wrocław v Leszno over 2 legs this season 94-86 Wrocław v Torun over two legs 109-71 Wrocław v Czestochowa 97-83 Wrocław v Gorzow 96-84 Wrocław v Lublin still to be completed Of the 6 playoff teams, not counting Lublin, Leszno have the highest aggregate score v Wrocław. I think that blows your theory out the window.2 points

Have to disagree. This is the first time Dayle Wood has crashed or taken anyone off since he moved up to this level. I've seen lots of better riders who have crashed and taken others off this season. Are you saying that Lewis Kerr shouldn't be riding at Championship level after he overcooked the corner and ran straight into the back of Craig Cook three months ago, taking Craig off and launching himself into the air fence at Oxford?2 points

The family seem to have gone to extraordinary lengths to keep the club going and gone to hell and back with their health and really do deserve support for the valiant efforts. Just a shame about the threats earlier on from the BSPL or whoever over the staging of Nora meetings and obviously with the intention of making the raceway a viable proposition. I really hope the BSPL are proud of themselves. You have to ask though why people like this go out of the way to keep the sport going when being kicked in the teeth by the governing body. Just shows that deep down some people really do care about the sport even if the bullies in charge prefer management by fear. Good luck with the fund raising and hopefully the club will be around for many years to come.2 points

Adam was never down to commentate at Plymouth or Poole and neither am I as I’m on the radio in the NE this week, Jason Harrold will be taking care of the southern trip and I’m doing Glasgow on Fri.2 points

The irony of that from a Poole fan... The thread busters.....2 points

Cheers for that personally I'd call it constructve discussion. While I appreciate the points you make, for me the integrity of the competition trumps all of that. The Polish Extraliga is the best competition in terms of attendance and the way its run and when riders are injured they use R/R or a junior, no ifs or buts. No borrowing from a rival. Half the trouble with speedway in this country is that its run to appease the riders not the paying customers. Until that changes and the punter is put first and looked after much better the downward spiral will continue.2 points

Worrall should never of been signed in the first place, don’t think I even remember him making a pass at the Showground this season, I do remember him leaving the door wide open time and time again. Anyhow good luck to him and welcome back bomber.2 points

"Speedway isn't run like that" is not quite true, Sweden and Poland both run squad systems. "British speedway isn't run like that" would be the correct statement. In football comparison, we (British speedway) are probably kicking around the Vanarama national League level of international speedway. If Complin isn't on the shopping list for Berwick 2024 after his performances there this year then there's some cages needing rattled.2 points

I quite agree regarding the golden heat & play offs both divides opinion but certainly add something. Speedway used to have a great tournament the old 4s, in the NL days. Something different at your local track when the qualifying round was there. Finals day at Peterborough was awesome 2 semi finals & a final in one day…..that would be a great meeting to sell to Tv. The highlights used to be on itv!2 points
