With respect, that's not so. In the forum's early days (~20 years ago) I built a circle of friends, amongst the regular posters, that extended all around the world. And continues to this day. Groups of posters used to meet at the British Final, go and sit together at Cardiff etc. Perhaps most important was the quality of debate on here. We didn't all agree, far from it. But we knew the value of a considered and well presented argument. As well as some truly amusing comments. I see elements of those early days, to this day, which is why I'm still here. Although I agree with much of your analysis in that the eternal bickering, trolling and conspiracy theorists are much in evidence. Not to mention those that have "inside knowledge" but refuse to tell, beyond the click bait initial posting. We could all leave. But that would be a case of "throwing out the baby with the bath water". Better still, completely ignore those that don't play "by the rules". And before you say, "What rules, Fd?" consider how we'd behave if we were all physically together, rather than sat behind our keyboards.11 points

I used to quite enjoy looking on these forms, people used to actually talk about Speedway and all the good things it has to offer. However, more recently it seems to be generally full of people who do nothing but moan, complain, are rude and just down right nasty. It's full of comments that have no relevance to the truth or are just made up rubbish. Arrogant self-opinionated people, who obviously have nothing better to do with their life other than put people down and think they are either funny, clever, or both. It really is simple. Perhaps have an open mind to things, stop trying to see a conspiracy in everything and that people are trying to rip you off all the time. It's a fantastic sport. Enjoy it, go and watch a meeting on a lovely summer's evening, except it for what it is.................... Get a grip.8 points

First of all. Best wishes to the cameraman. Hope all this is just precautionary, get well soon. that was a freak horrible accident, I was told these bikes are not built for small tracks nowadays especially with people so close to the track. thoughts also with Craig. He will be heartbroken over it.6 points

Not matter what the opinion is on here one thing is certain we all want speedway to get a grip & sort itself out. The comments on here have become more negative & I’ll include myself in that. The negativity is however in-line with the on going line of decline that the sport is witnessing. It’s all very well saying get a grip it’s a great sport go & watch it but the reality is those who are willing to do that is declining at an every faster rate. I used to genuinely love my speedway & I had my rose tinted specs on for years. My watershed moment came about 15 years ago when the rules were changed mid season around the elite league play offs. In a heart beat I went from attend every week to 4 or 5 times a season, when I finally got fed up with the ever increasing number of riders missing meetings, the guest fest & out of control doubling up. This saw me stop attending all together, although the past couple of years I have gone once or twice as a night out to catch with with the group who used to go to speedway. From the age of 10 though to 32 Speedway was my sport Ipswich my team, however I lost interest in the sport & my emotional attachment to my team because of the reasons above. This year I have been to Foxhall more times than since 2009 the reason is the racing has been good in the main & the Emil factor. However it’s a night out I don’t attend as a passionate Ipswich fan because I can’t get that level of attachment any longer hence can’t see myself being a regular again. on the flip side the way Ipswich is ran & presented gives an insight into how speedway could look given half a chance.6 points

If you're not prepared to have your opinions challenged then Forums are not for you... agree there's no need to be rude or nasty though.6 points

Suggest the guesswork and speculation is avoided. I’m sure we will find out soon enough and let’s hope to god the news is positive.5 points

As already been said the guesswork and I heard this and that happened isn’t the time or place. Freak incident that I hope to never see again. All the best to Peter and hope he makes a full recovery he was responding to the paramedics which is fantastic news. Also hope Craig is okay I know he struggles mentally as it is and I know he thought the worst at first, hopefully we will see him back in action sooner rather than later. Also hope Adam is okay says he’s broken something in his shoulder area just not sure what, but was in good spirits still. And for people asking for refunds on BSN you’re an embarrassment.4 points

Awful. Thoughts with cameraman and his family . All at BSN and EMTV and Craig. Reminded me of when he and his bike cleared fence at Cardiff in 2018 I think. One point though. Incident nothing to do with size or shape of the track. Could happen anywhere. Seen 2 valves and uprights do same too. So no need for any silly anti small track point scoring puerile Fingers crossed for all.4 points

You do realise the irony of moaning about moaning. This place is the same as it’s always been. People complain, people squabble, people troll. But nobody would be here if they weren’t speedway fans.4 points

I've seen Dayle Wood twice now on BSN and I don't really like what I see, he looks a danger to himself and others on the track3 points

Let's be honest speedway is a superb spectacle but the structure of the British premier League and the things that are allowed to go on and the way it's managed is a joke...so of course people are going to moan as it's just unprofessional and can't be taken seriously as a proper sport not because of the riders but because of the infrastructure and the way it's governed.3 points

There is just something very ironic about this post, I just can't put my finger on it.3 points

This entire forum is about engaging with other fans. Talking about racing, tracks, transfers, old times etc and obviously with all this comes moaning. I understand people may not like moaning all the time but quite frankly the British are the best at it. It's not only speedway where fans moan. It's in every sport. It's all doom n gloom and if there is sport where moaning is at its highest..it's probably speedway and rightly so. If you've been going for number of years even decades and you see your beloved sport slowing dying right Infront of you, you are going to get moaning and groaning and miserable old farts thinking the world is going to end. I moan, but I moan not only about speedway but the ashes recently, my club west ham not signing anyone and pretty much everything I buy in a supermarket. Moaning is what the forum is almost built for. Have a winge, have a laugh and get some opinions off your chest. I love the moaning personally. I stand with people every week at Leicester who moan and groan about the speedway world but we always end up laughing about in at the end.3 points

It can’t be long before 10 home meeting season is a struggle. If the suns not out match off will be in the rules.Weather must be a new thing on the scene.3 points

IMO the level of moaning and complaining on this forum has increased, and is commensurate with the continuing decline in the sport in the UK. Nothing has been done to attempt to reverse this decline and so people DO have legitimate reasons to voice their complaints and criticism. The rose coloured glasses brigade who think everything is wonderful are just as entitled to keep on spouting their opinions as the others who think that the closure of Pboro and Wolves and poss KL is the continuing slow and sad demise of the sport. No need for rudeness though I agree.3 points

He raises a good point tho - I recall attending a football match once - one fan sat behind me spent the entire game moaning - 'yer effing Shi8E Wednesday' according to him the ref was bent in both meanings of the word, the opposition were cheats - he left five minutes before the end and missed his sides winning goal from a penalty in the last minute - it had actually been a decent game ending in a 3-2 win for his side - My takeaway from that game was why the heck did you go if it caused you so much stress! Some people are just never happy - as i often say some would complain if there was owt to complain about!3 points

except he usually doesnt! from memory he has won it twice this season - just dont let reality get in the way of having a pop at either Hawkins or King3 points

Makes me wonder if the Leicester track drains could even cope with a full Nick Morris bladder, but I guess we’ll never know.3 points

Don’t be ridiculous. I haven’t read a single comment on here which doesn’t agree the meeting should have been called off with everyone wishing the very best to the cameraman who was injured. Stop trying to make a comment to inflame something that isn’t there.2 points

I didn't think that was ever a question. Kelleher is a 4.00 Champ rider, Wood is a 4.00 NL rider.2 points

Interesting decision in heat 2. Wood shouldn't be near champ imo, danger to himself and others2 points

Including last night.. Home 9.80, away 10.17. For anyone that is fantastic. Let alone a rider that hasn't been over here in 10 or so years. Very classy rider.2 points

I think most of us on here see the racing itself as as good at any time of its life, and are quick to say it as often as we can.. The marketing and operating model of it though is, quite correctly, questioned and called out for not being fit for purpose if you ever want the sport to move forwards.... Constructive criticism is vital for growth if you are open minded enough to accept it, and, more importantly, use it..2 points

If Schlein is fit possibly but Lawson and Worrall are far better riders and Hans is on the on the way down. I fancy a Pirates win2 points

Roynon’s accident at Lynn was a bit of a freak situation with regards to his bike. Could have happened anywhere at any time as far as I recall.2 points

But as Laguta has found out it may not have the host of big stars but British speedway isn’t easy……it’s a far different proposition to the full throttle of Poland. If this season has shown anything it’s probably that Emil is the most naturally gifted technical rider at the moment.2 points

I did some updates on some speedway sites many years ago but for the life of me can't remember how I did it!2 points

Stadium motocross (Supercross) and arena motocross (Arenacross) audiences are not much to shout about in the UK. I'd doubt they make money. The benefit motocross has is a fairly solid participation base, and products made by mainstream motorcycle brands. I am a lifelong speedway fan and I find the team sport thing tenuous. I can’t believe today’s more sophisticated consumer will buy into it. The interaction between team mates in speedway is negligible. They are just a bunch of individuals who wear the same colour and the team that wins is the one whose individuals score the most points collectively. Compare this to real team sports, where the individuals work closely together. They pass a ball between each other, with players having a specialist role to play. I just don’t get it. I get how it could have been in the past. People were less discerning. Teams were more stable and often more local, so there was a connection with the individuals that made up the team. Even in some of the sports which have huge emphasis on the team (think Formula One and cycling, a la Tour de France) the focus is on the individuals. Real teams, like national teams as seen at the recent World Cup, interests me a bit, but personally I just want to see riders racing for themselves and would see that as a future to introduce new spectators, and riders, to the sport. Speedway needs to start at the ground up, as an individual amateur sport. League speedway can still have a place, but it has to be commercially viable and a separate entity to the individual sport.2 points

Prospective fans aren’t going to be watching BSN. TV/streaming coverage isn’t there to promote the sport, it is there to cover the sport. Warts and all, and boy are there a lot of warts.2 points

Don't worry, BSN are at Poole next week and I'm sure Roynon (and Shovlar) will be gushing about the track... while we're all falling asleep2 points

Switch it to ashfield, perfect weather up here today . Which is of course the usual when there's no speedway!2 points
