Wasting your breath if it was black they would swear it was white. But Kings puncture must have been a worse puncture than Bombers.6 points

I'm referring to the recent teams and tracks at both clubs. For some reason both tracks have become abysmal when they were the best race tracks in the country at one stage.5 points

Well it is relevant to me. I was looking forward to seeing Tai at BP tomorrow (actually today). I didn't question Emil's commitment to British speedway when he came to BP, I just sat back and looked on in awe. Each meeting is an event. Enjoy it for what it is. You seem to suggest that a rider has to be fully committed to our national sport for his appearances to mean something. That is, with respect, a rather outdated concept. Are the foreign riders participating in the Polish leagues "committed" to Polish speedway? I think the pay cheques out there might have more to do with it. There are riders. There are meetings / races. Enjoy one taking part in the other and be thankful that sometimes you see something quite memorable. The fact that Tai is British, the fact that some believe his loyalties are more Australian, are all meaningless. We can claim him as ours when he rides for GB but otherwise he is no more or less "valid" as a participant in "our" leagues than Max, NKI, or any other rider, foreign or carrying a British passport.4 points

Wolves like every track has had prep issues. Odd comment about tracks because he has been very vocal about UK tracks being poorly prepared and of course we have had the tyre gate issue at Peterborough and Pedersen didn’t even last a lap before being injured. Clearly the offer and timing suits him so he seems happy to skirt over that issue.3 points

Trying your upmost to get meetings on is commendable and I appreciate the being restricted to Wedneadays situation, but there is a reason clubs call meetings off early nowadays, its to give supporters clarity and prevent that nightmare situation where folk are standing on a terrace watching a tractor go round with little or no hope of racing. I would also say that having done it myself many times in the past, if you travel to a speedway meeting and the forecast isn't great then you know that risk when you decide to go.3 points

Slightly off topic but of all the so called big hitters (GP riders or not) coming back to the UK this year, Emil is the one that stands out. His attitude and commitment makes me proud to be associated with this sport and is a joy to watch. Just wish he’d stop winning so many bloody races at Leicester though!3 points

Looked like two chains he shed which is unusual , this was the expert opinion of Adam Roynon though, so it was probably two blown engines.2 points

Adam Roynon just said on BSN in the build up to tonight's meeting that the material used on the track at Kings Lynn & Peterborough is rubbish. So there you have it.2 points

Undoubtedly without Len Rye House would have ceased to exist years ago. What his critics don’t realise is that his “budget “ was the profit from his Silver Ski business that paid for his purchase of the track and balancing the books on the running of his loss making speedway team. There would be no Rye House without Len undoubtedly. Before that he worked extremely hard, “ above and beyond “ to keep the crowds coming to Hackney. Far more than most promoters would do. Speedway owes him a lot. With his organisational talent he could certainly have been a wealthier man if he never got involved with Speedway promotion. I think he became a big old school in his presentations in the later years but that’s hardly a big deal. As for Boxall and Doyle I don’t think back in the days when Doyle was a reserve at Poole that many people would put money on him becoming world champion. On the other hand I think Boxall really was was one of speedways lost talents. He had great natural ability on very poor and unreliable machinery and could have been a pretty decent rider had it not been for an unfortunate combination of injuries mechanical problems, lack of sponsorship/funding, and mental attitude. He just needed someone to get him to focus more, but in terms of natural ability he was very good.2 points

I would say tracks are generally better prepared now that they was a few years ago which is what Woffy was saying. that riders he’s spoke to said the track are much better prepared now. but like pottering said. That’s because majority are big tracks now2 points

I think he means Sheffield have a very good sponsor that will pay good money to get success,,, as his other team don't seem to be able to bring him any2 points

I was catching up on reading the Speedway Star yesterday and there was an interview with Adam Ellis in the issue a couple of weeks ago. He mentions that Woffinden and the GB team had organised a practice day at Wroclaw, understandably didn't expect Tai, Bewley or Lambert to need to be there but was surprised to find he was the only one who turned up. Again, if he's prepared to put the effort in when others aren't, those riders can't complain when they don't get selected.2 points

The main problem for me is that the rain had passed by 6pm (ish) and Oxford said the meeting was still on at this stage. With no further rain falling, most fans obviously presumed the track was in a fit state to race and travelled, paid for tickets (at £2 extra), bought programmes etc., etc. Now I've no complaints with Oxford delaying a call off while waiting for the rain to stop and checking out the state of the track, but it was obvious (at 6pm) it wasn't going to happen. That's when the call off should have happened and saved everybody's time and money. No riders even went out on a bike to test it, suggesting the track was a long way from being in a fit state to race. Oxford returning has been a dream for me and I love the club, but there have been some very questionable decisions (especially this season). Will it stop me from going again? No it won't, but there's probably less passionate fans that simply don't feel the same way.2 points

I was commenting more on Len’s account of his time as GB team manager. The job was run on such a shoestring he even had to buy his own jacket . Its a few years since I read his book and can’t remember all the details but that aspect was not a glowing account of the inner workings of British speedway . Undoubtedly Len Silver is a very single minded character, but the same single mindedness that makes him a very difficult man to work with, also bred the commitment that kept Hackney and Rye House going against the odds for many years. He was undoubtedly a good servant of speedway, did his best for the riders and was a showman who engaged with the fans (although he did eventually pass his sell-by date) . He wasn’t the only one like that of course but if a few more showed half his commitment the sport would be in a better place IMO.2 points

I doff my metaphorical hat to you, Sir!! A fella who sits near me at Owlerton called him "Climb Ev'ry" when he rode for us2 points

When I arrived at 7pm it was clear the track was in a poor condition and 40 minutes later it was called off. Having seen the track at close quarters I don’t think there was ever any realistic chance of seeing any Speedway tonight given the earlier rain today. The return of Speedway to Oxford has by and large been a great success and one to celebrate but these questionable decisions to chance it to the last moment do a lot of damage to the club and undoubtedly will drive fans away.2 points

It’s a literal bleeding’ miracle that Belle Vue can put on a full top league league program plus Colts, plus PCMT, plus Women’s championship, plus short track, plus British Final in their allotted time. Tale wagging the dog again in Speedway as we pander to the lowest common denominator. If you’re a car crash, no worries we’ll work around you. Jesus, things will never change. Switch the lights off on your way out.2 points

Let's be honest,, there is zero chance of them not winning,, providing they all make it to the stadium,,,1 point

No chance of that. I'm keeping my patch of the Outer Hebrides a strictly Elon Musk-free zone1 point

I doubt Not being able to ride mondays or Thursdays was an issue. Speedway restarted long before the greyhounds did so they could've ridden any day they wished.1 point
-
Fair enough. They wasn’t allowed up to top league because they could only race Wednesdays. But obviously it’s Mondays and Thursdays they can’t race , My apologies and there for there was no need for such a gamble last night and last week1 point

They are not restricted to Weds though, think Phil is getting mixed up with Brum. Poole have had a meeting there on a Tues before and some NL meetings have been a Tues also (but that might have been last season).1 point
-
Fair enough rider safety is paramount, what annoys me is that there was absolutely no chance that the track was going to be ready. So why wasn’t it called off earlier, why were we allowed into the stadium, people were buying tickets at the stadium (on phones). Didn’t matter who you were it was obvious the track was in no state for racing. Add to that as I said earlier it started raining at 20:00.1 point

In one of Briggo's book back in the 70s he said speedway needs an all weather surface. I just guess there is nothing suitable. Tarmac or concrete etc would either be dangerous or change the sport into a road racing or possibly the Japanese modification of dirt track speedway1 point

Mind you, the whole article could be condensed into one line. An unidentified lab has been given an unexplained testing task on the shale and then Ole will build the track in exactly same way he has done for years (including last year).1 point
