  1. Whatever the ins and outs of it I think most Glasgow fans would tell you Connor needed a season away to improve, was in his comfort zone I'd say. He also improves when he's busy, having only one team last season was a problem. With 3 teams and improving can see the difference in him the 3 times he's been back this season. I doubt he'd have won that last season. Gladly have him back in the stripes

  2. What a fantastic racetrack Glasgow is. Right up there with Redcar and Scunny in the Champs.

  3. Phil Morris said on the podcast that a new promoter was in place but he wasn't going to name who it was... this was directly after talking about how he wanted to be transparent about the King's Lynn situation!

  4. Not the result we wanted but great to see plenty of travelling supporters getting behind our lads. Some positives from Luke Harrison who rode brilliant on the technical track and also Harry who looked a lot more on the pace. A big thanks to Lee Complin as our guest who gave it 110% in each race hope he’s not to badly hurt as that was a nasty one. Anyway onto the next away trips to Leicester and Kent let’s keep backing the lads!

  5. What a load of crap did you watch it…. Rowe was unbeaten in his heats but wasn’t the best by a proverbial mile ….. How about congratulating the winner …

  6. I have to agree. If this system is to be used for individual championship events where a new tyre can be used for semi-finals & finals then they should be ready mounted by the SCB/BSPL for the qualified riders to put on their bikes. either that or allow each rider two tyres at the start to use as they see fit. The waiting time at any speedway event is whats killing British speedway

  7. Glasgow like Redcar again showing that if you develop a proper race track with suitable banking and a racing shape that the sport can still deliver great entertainment. Those tracks should be the template for any new ones if at all possible.

  8. The tyre has to be authorised by the ref, then issued, then fitted preferably without nipping the tube, then inflated, then balanced, then fitted to the bike and chain aligned before final adjustment, in the pit bay with everyone waiting….clearly you have never fitted a speedway tyre.

  10. I just felt that this needed to be a separate topic... I know that after yesterday, a few people were questioning Jason Doyle's ability, but I have witnessed some really bizarre stuff on some of the Facebook groups. It seems that people really don't think he's good enough to be in the GP's. I just responded to a comment on there from somebody questioning his participation. I said that while he had a bad day yesterday, he has had a great year. Her response was, "he's not consistent enough!" Really? Four finals in six events? That's not consistent? Another idiot suggested that NONE of the riders outside the Top Six should be allowed back the following year, and should be replaced by newcomers! I know some of you question the wildcards, but really? The World number 7 isn't good enough to be in the GP's, and should be replaced by somebody who is probably nowhere near GP standard? Are there really 10 other riders who would be able to "compete" in the GP's?

  11. Okay, I've given it a day, so it's time for to prove summat to you lot! What a bunch of shallow, fickle fools we have on this forum! After EVERY GP, we have the idiots coming on here, whining about what a crap points system we have, and how it's total bollocks that the lowest qualifiers for the semis can walk off with the most points. This time, nuffink... So, that only applies to foreigners, does it? When it's a Brit, it's like, "Yea for us"!!!!!

  13. And just had 2 cracking races after it. The tracks a road, worst it's been all season but had to be given the weather we've had and the forecast. Still had 5/6 very good races. In future watch the racing or maybe get it on Bsn first, embarrassing yourself again

  14. If your a wolves fan then you must remember he scored 16pts in a meeting at Monmore last season.

  15. "Splashing the cash" on a 16 year old debutante?? Must be looking for at least £500 a point, £30 a mile and 40k signing on fee.

  16. The two posts you quoted were in response to the so called Glasgow fan with chips on both shoulders. He suggested the Facennas might be good businessmen but knew nothing about speedway as they had won nothing. They built excellent teams but were unlucky with injuries which you can't legislate for. Not to mention everything else they have done for speedway.

  17. Or wack a ball over a net and scream, Now I know Speedway in the UK is down and almost out, but I have never in all my life known anyone that plays Tennis let alone anyone that watches it except for the annual bash at SW19, yet we get daily updates on numerous media outlets, I guess Speedway fans don't have BBC accents .

  18. Everyone has to qualify for the following season. Riders have to race against the best riders in the world ten times a year, and have to finish in the Top Six to receive a "seeding". It is not actually a seeding, it is "qualification".

  19. Doyle shocking night but is currently in the top 6 in the world in pure merit so the people on here saying he shouldn’t be in it are talking out of their backsides. Should we also kick Madsen out because he might not be top 6???? Top 6 of Zmarzlik, Holder, Lindgren, Vaculik , Bewley and Doyle … if it stays like that do people think riders like Madsen , Dudek, Lambert , Janowski,Fricke shouldn’t be in??? I’d love to see the names of riders who are better than Doyle and Tai Not everyone can be world champion you will always have riders that can do well on the odd night but won’t threaten the top 6…. Doesn’t mean they aren’t in the top 16 in the world though. There is a changing of the guard that’s for sure with riders like Doyle and Tai and Janowski not performing and younger riders like Bewley and Holder coming forward and getting better …. Thing is Zmarzlik isn’t slowing down yet and these youngsters aren’t quite up to his consistency yet but it will come

  20. Yeah and despite less fixtures and gaps between matches you can bet there will be a mad rush to complete fixtures due to all the rain-offs and other postponements. Just glad the BSPA don't own a brewery

  21. Excellent meeting and a fantastic final. Congratulations to Connor Bailey who, after his first heat, looked unbeatable no matter where he was out of the start. All 4 finalists deserve huge credit and really good to see Dan T return to some great (and very exciting) form - he very nearly won it.

  22. You really don’t know how it works do you….each rider…all 16 of them , should have a spare wheel and a brand new £45 tyre ( unauthorised ) on it….just in case ? A tyre that if they don’t qualify they can’t use at any other meeting ! Think they know what they are dealing with and you just need to be a bit more patient.

  28. The comment of the 1-7 staying the same is a strange one, it's obviously meant to be positive comment aimed at the people suggesting Laguta would be leaving, but normally when you have a weak team saying the 1-7 is staying the same isn't something to boast about lol!

  29. Neil Middleditch wants to win everywhere, I don't think he'd tell his lads to take it easy. Could be Havvy team managing, if so he'd be wanting to keep up a record of not having being beaten this season.

  30. I often wondered if there was an original 'BEN Fund' that helped riders get there vehicles repaired after breakdowns on the way to 'B'ristol, 'E'xeter & 'N'ewport ! Wolves fans used to speculate if George Hunter would appear at these venues and some suggested r/r should already be printed in the respective programmes!

  32. Riss can ride the small tracks as several successful years riding for Edinburgh and Redcar have shown. He was also almost unbeatable around Newcastle. It's not the track that's the problem it's his illness and the fact he hasn't got back to where he was. His Redcar scores have been way down on what would normally be expected from him.

  33. But Kim did qualify. No system is perfect. The best I can come up with is you, me and 'RacersandRoyals' decide who the best 15 riders in the world are at the end of the season and announce them as next year's field

  41. Wright must have said that he didnt want to do it... ? Given the shape of the track, and his commitment, tenacity and hard riding style, surely he would have been a shoe in to take position four?

  42. If the organisers want to see new names each year all they have to do is stop seeding riders & make everyone qualify, of course they can't control who's in the field doing that!

  43. While Lindgren made a very poor move, I guess you could call it reckless, I didn't think it was any worse than Zmarzlik's challenge on Madsen in the last round. Different result as Lindgren clattered his opponent (& was rightly excluded) while Zmarzlik pushed his opponent (who stayed on) to the fence.

  46. Yes, your memory serves you well. Although the finals were not shown live in full, there was coverage on BBC television on 22/09/49 from 21.30 until 22.10; on 21/09/50 from 21.30 until 22.00; then from 21.00 until 22.00 on 20/09/51, 18/09/52, 17/09/53, and 16/09/54; from 21.15 until 22.00 on 15/09/55; from 21.00 until 22.00 on 22/09/56 and 21/09/57. There were reports in the Sport Special programme on 20/09/58 (22.15-22.45), 19/09/59 (22.50-23.20) and 17/09/60 (22.00-22.40).

  47. 23rd April 1951 part of Walthamstow v Coventry was broadcast live on BBC. 17th and 24th February 1962 the Grandstand Pairs were shown live from Cradley Heath, also on BBC. I have a vague recollection that some highlights of Belle Vue v Sheffield from 3rd April 1965 were shown on Grandstand a week later. The Internationale highlights were shown in the mid-1960s. Speedway clips were also shown occasionally on the midweek programme 'Sportsview', which became 'Sportsnight' in 1968, with presenters including Peter Dimmock, David Coleman and Harry Carpenter. Alan Weeks was the Internationale commentator. He also used to commentate on ice skating, ice hockey and swimming. He covered speedway World Finals for the BBC from the mid-1950s until the late-1960s. Weeks was a big speedway fan.

  48. I don’t think you understand the format of the meeting do you ? Every race bar the final is just a qualifying heat. The only race that matters is the final and your boy came second

  49. Not sure I understand the logic of blaming Martin for his line! Speedway riders are allowed to ride wide, there is no rule that says you have to ride the inside or your opponents can run into you!
