Keith Chapman doesn't prepare the track. Keith Chapman didn't pick the team, so can't be blamed for the poor results. He's having to now so as to keep King's Lynn running for the remainder of the season. He's had to inherit an expensive rider in Artem Laguta, but has kept on board for the supporter's sake. The man is doing the best he can having to take on the financial side of the club, that he'd got rid of. I think we all know, that the team that was put together at the start of the season was poor decision making, but not the fault of Keith Chapman, as he had no financial input into the club, and just financed Peterborough to keep them afloat. Poor side I know, but the Pedersen didn't help, and I don't know who was responsible for putting the team together anyway, although I suspect it probably was Keith Chapman. To be fair, on paper, they didn't look a bad side, and should be doing better than they are. Neither club are producing racing of the quality that they used to, due to the track material that's being used. Whether that's down to cost, or unavailability of 'Red Shale' who knows. I know that Leicester have red shale, and the racing is worse there than either King's Lynn or Peterborough. But with regards to King's Lynn, I think Keith Chapman is receiving a lot of undeserved criticism. A man who bought the stadium, saved the speedway many years ago, and has provided the fans with some excellent years, and now some not so good years, and not his fault this season as already mentioned, but this sort of thing happens in any team sport. It's also been mentioned about poor crowds, but which team in the Premiership are enjoying really good crowds in this difficult financial time for us all with the cost of living, I can't think of one? Peterborough seems to be hold up quite well. Ipswich far from satisfactory compared to the past. Sheffield, Belle Vue, and Wolverhampton pretty abysmal, and Leicester, very poor. Sports club supporters seem to be very fickle when their club isn't doing well, none more so than speedway, but it's times like this, that your respective club in whatever sport, needs and deserves our loyalty and support through the not so good times, not just walking away from it.10 points

I enjoyed my first visit to Foxhall for around 40 years! I'm currently on holiday on the Broads and decided to visit Ipswich rather than Kings Lynn as the match looked more attractive for a neutral. I had no trouble getting there, nor parking. Getting in was a little slow but no complaints there. The stadium itself is pretty impressive, with the big grandstands on the back straight, and having bought some food me and my son found a seat in the grandstand. The view was really good, although my own preference is to be a bit closer to the action. The racing wasn't bad at all, although as mentioned on the updates Wolves did seem to get some flyers. As expected, when the Witches have Jason and Emil as their top two heats 13 and 15 will always favour them. A couple of things I noticed, the music wasn't very modern, although I didn't mind that, and there also seemed to be a lot of children around where we were sitting. Hopefully the latter is a good sign for Ipswich. The meeting was done and dusted in just over 90 minutes, from tapes up to the end of heat 15, including the interval so well done to all for that. I had no trouble getting out afterwards and but for the A140 being closed would have been back in Wroxham by 10.45. Taking everything into consideration, that was an enjoyable evening.9 points

I agree with your sentiment 100% but you’d not go in a restaurant every week if the food wasn’t good just cus you don’t want the restaurant to close - winning team isn’t the be all and end all for many all we want is good close racing feeling like you been entertained value for money ( certainly not worth £22 ) and for me not being taken for granted that you’ll turn up each week with 0% effort from the promotion to make fans feel valued. I certainly don’t want any club to close least of all Kings Lynn .6 points

Onto the important stuff - Whose going to clean the air fence and toilets now?5 points

Sadly that is a view that doesn't cut it anymore.. The customers are never a reason a business fails... Speedway in particular is an entity that has lived beyond its collective means for far too long, with seemingly no clear dynamic strategy or direction... Fans have shown by walking away in their droves (whilst never being listened to as to why), to show that, for many, it doesn't really matter anymore if any particular track survives or not.. The Promoters, as a collective, are all culpable for the situation some clubs, and the sport in general, finds itself in... Their disillusioned customers who no longer attend, but still keep close to the sport, are 100% not to blame...5 points

Curious to understand why you think promoters are greedy. I'd suggest most, if not all, are losing money. If I was out to make a quick buck, speedway would be the last thing I'd think about.5 points

The club is a absolute shambles unfortunately. Track, team, results, crowds, take your pick. For those o us who have been going since the last century in particular its painful and so demoralising.5 points

Why shouldn't Lisa if she likes Speedway & wants to talk about it? That's what forums are for I thought?5 points

Cracking meeting tonight, same as last time Redcar were at Ashfield. I was really impressed with Ace tonight. It may not show in his points total but he's coming along really well.4 points

Dont agree.... It was all going great until you started this thread.. Your fault all this....4 points

Blimey, I knew it was bad and hence starting this thread - but it’s even more of a mess than I had first expected!4 points

Brilliant meeting that could have gone either way right up to the last few heats. Last years rider of the season turned up again to remind us we should have kept him. More passes than an SNP conference tonight.4 points

Buster has only got himself to blame. Buster has fallen out with so many people and now it's become one too many that's left him in the mud, Would've had the finances covered at Peterborough via Tomalin if he didn't let personal grudges get in the way of business. You have to remain professional when it comes to business otherwise things will fall apart at a rapid pace.4 points

The clock at Belle Vue is fully connected to the refs box and riders like Dan use the display when gardening. He looks up at it a few times and generally finishes with 10 or so seconds to spare. The problem, which is typical of UK speedway is how inconsistent it all is. Not all tracks are set up the same and not all refs implement rules the same.4 points

It's the material used that puts a lot of the the riders off, im sure it's been said that Chapman uses a clay based mixture rather then just shale at both Lynn and Peterborough and it creates a very grippy track so it seems, the main problem is most of today's riders don't like it heavy and grippy and can't ride a grippy track with confidence, Loram and Screen from yesteryear would have a field day and revel in the conditions, a bit like Harris does now at times, but not the majority of today's gating tartsplus the rocket ships they ride nowadays are so much harder to ride compared to bikes of a few years back if the track ain't smooth and slick and prepared just so.4 points

No need for a clock. The 2 minute warning was sounded. An announcement was made A 60 second warning was announced. A 30 second warning was announced. NKI then emerged from the pit gate. He came to the gate at a reasonable speed but not with any sense of urgency. He then started a full gardening routine. This was permitted for a short time, but eventually the starting marshal called NKI forward to join the other 3 riders who had been ready to race for some time. NKI failed to come forward and the ref clearly felt that enough was enough. I have some sympathy for the view that this was not untypical. I had began to get a bit fed up with the delays at the start last night and generally, actually. But arriving at the start well within the 2 minutes and then gardening is one thing. Leaving the pits with less than 30 seconds to go and then expecting to take significant time preparing to race is taking the pee. And it wasn't just Leicester fans who cheered when NKI was excluded.4 points

Don't tell Alexa I mean Lisa lol thoroughly enjoyed that meeting Lees shoulder popped out when his chain snapped and paramedics popped it back in so I believe3 points

I've got to be honest, I think that press release is an absolute disgrace. It's a clear effort to not put any blame on to Buster & or Allitt. People have missed the point in that King's Lynn (& Peterborough) have been run disgracefully even pre Brady & the common denominator in that is the 2 names within my 2nd paragraph. It's not a coincidence3 points

Oh diddums , will get Speedway stopped only 13 hears with passing ah well can’t have everything.3 points

I wonder if this latest crisis is the way the KL promotion are going to announce to the Speedway world that Laguta won't be riding away matches?3 points

It's a two way street though mate. I'm not shelling out 22 quid plus petrol for a losing team and poor racing, and it seems many feel the same.3 points

Obviously. Or maybe he just likes proper speedway , you should try it sometime.3 points

I actually agree with you Brady had totally s###t on Lynn he might well have serious personal reasons to quit but his actions could well have single handedly finished the club .3 points

will somebody please wake up and organise this sport in an affordable, credible way before its too late.3 points

Well said Chris,at last someone recognises that although Buster may not be everyone's cup of tea, he has done a lot of good, and tried to do more .Its frustrating as a lynn supporter to see us struggle so badly, but the man has right royally been dumped in the rubbish this season and still kept the club running3 points

Just caught up with this meeting on BSN. And people have a pop at the Poole track? Howarth summed it up perfectly. No one wants to ride in heat 15, regardless of pay, as the track is bad. Got grippier as the meeting went on and was grippy at the start. Howarth said for some unknown reason the track staff worked on the track to make it as grippy as possible (not his exact words) It’s clear both Klindt and Laguta just want to get through the meeting unscathed regardless of whether they score or not. The track is dangerous. The whole surface needs taking off and shale put down. For some reason Kings Lynn want to race on clay and the riders are clearly struggling. It’s not those with the biggest gonads don’t have an issue, it’s unsafe as the way bikes are today makes riding them difficult to turn. Seems Kings Lynn want to have a different surface for the sake of it. Not in the best interests of the sport.3 points

And there you have it - the exact approach that many promoters and the sport generally takes with regard to its customers! Those no longer attending/attending less regularly but still with an underlying love of the sport are dismissed with disdain when really these need to be listened too constructively Instead only happy clapper ar$elickers sycophantically tugging their forlocks submissivally are desired for conversation3 points

Some reasonable points but NKI rode in heats 12, 13 and 15 so clearly could have had issues that needed attention including a likely tyre change, fuel, oil etc. Bearing in mind that the race wasn't deciding anything either points or aggregate etc, I think some time and common sense should have been applied and unfortunately Jarvis showed niether, having stated that Iversen was excluded for delaying the start the exclusion this action then delayed the meeting conclusion for another few minutes whilst his replacement got ready and appeared. It was all so pointless.3 points

The thought had crossed my mind too, that this could be a tactical move. Why would Carl be helping find a new stadium when he's no longer involved and peed off with the current owner?3 points

Many of us have been following Tigers when bottom of the league, going both home and away, knowing that if we got 30 away it was deemed a success, it is the new younger fans that are looking for Trophies, which we have won only 3 league titles in 75 years and they were all before play offs came in to play.3 points

A few years ago I thought 'how would I run a speedway track'. The model was based around regular open practice sessions, individual meetings (multiple classes, with riders paying to enter) and perhaps some amateur team meetings for variety, and if there was demand from my customers. My customers would be competitors, who would be club members (as with most sporting clubs). I might 'promote' a couple of pro meetings a year to raise the profile and give my club members something to aspire to, and to try and brings some additional revenue in. Don't think it would be allowed due to the BSPA cartel.3 points

Ladies and gentlemen, the Facebook happy clappers who refuse to believe anything is wrong with Peterborough Panthers: "Good result for Leicester who have clearly got themselves dialed into their track."3 points

Errrr....no, it's not. You said exactly the opposite.3 points

'Most' Glasgow fans don't bother with speedway forums. There's probably less than 30 on this one and yes some of them would rather watch good exciting racing than win trophies. The majority of Glasgow fans are like most fans they want to see their team win at home. The difference at Glasgow is that they also get good exciting racing as a bonus. Most fans also realise that not every team can win trophies and teams that win trophies don't always attract big crowds. The Ford's model works for Poole and they are very good at it. For example, they signed and kept 2 of the best gaters in the league who are also apparently very good at manipulating their averages. Unfortunately their success also results in them attracting sad people that can't help spout nonsense and who enjoy trolling,3 points

Tonights cricket at Edgbaston was a T20 QF Warwickshire Bears v Essex Eagles, 3 hours of almost none stop action in a modern Stadium all for £10 per ticket, that's the price Richard Willford said on Radio WM tonight, and that is the kind of competition Speedway is up against and really has no chance of winning as things stand.3 points
-
hey, firstly thanks for attending.... and you are right, how we run speedway it's not for everyone. We aim for mainstream fans of speedway and motorcycling, and of course tourists. I dont agree with your comment of poor racing, we all have different expectations for that I guess but the overwhelming feedback, despite all the challenges we face external to Nora and what we want to do, is that the racing was great, entertainment was brilliant and its was non stop action. If you come down for the second leg be sure to introduce yourself to me and lets discuss it further. All the best and i really hope that we've kickstarted more interest in RH returning where no other club would even consider helping.3 points

If we had a governing body that actually did anything this crappy situation could of been avoided, all we’ve got to show for any supposed changes this year is a red, blue, white and yellow mat in the pits2 points

Very enjoyable meeting with two teams going at it , Harris was superb tonight with a 5 ride maximum. There was also a thing called passing tonight in every heat great entertainment. Will this thing called passing catch on.2 points

Absolutely. There's a winning culture at the club. They are well supported, well sponsored and well managed. Everything you want your own club to be.2 points

To be fair Buster didn’t build the Lynn team, or pay them this season. He stepped in after Alex left, to stop us closing I presume.2 points
-
If Buster truly cared about the club and it's fans then he'd hand the club over to Tomalin free of charge with immediate effect, Buster isn't fit to run a speedway club in 2023 and almost everyone has had enough of him. I'm surprised Rob Lyon has stuck around this long tbh.2 points

Another thing I've made up This is all on Buster Chapman we all deserve better than this.2 points

Shows what an absolute shambolic mess we are in...I hope someone like Ged or MT can step in and take us out of this nightmare..to be honest I hate to say this but there's no point in even running if it's going to be like the last 2 seasons...it's just not enjoyable to watch and it's not competitive so what's the point?2 points

Compare this response to the Kings Lynn team manager’s reply on another thread about “come and see me in the pits and I’ll put you right!!” And this is the difference between good/poor communication and success/failure - Keep up the good work.2 points
