What sort of speedway fan wants to see a track close? Disgraceful17 points
-
Hugely embarrassing . There is no way the team we have assembled should score less than 30 points anywhere and against any opposition in our division . This is why I wanted the home leg first a packed stadium full of anticipation, now we'll have a half full stadium if we're lucky and riders and fans just going through the motions . 15 last places , dear god , that actually takes a bit of doing . Only a 16 year old 3 months into his Championship career escapes criticism .13 points

Some of the posts on this thread are ridiculous. The track had a problem which was sorted during the extended interval. Some seem to think Complin and Nowak could have won races had they gated! Brennan is always poor at Poole even when there is no track issues. Basso hasnt had many good meetings at Poole since he left and he must know all our secrets! To say the track is terrible in general and should be closed is awful , i hope it continues for many years to come.8 points

Most Glasgow fans struggling with the simple concept that their team just weren’t good enough.8 points

Best rider on show for Kings Lynn. Well done Simon, a brilliant performance.6 points

I would disagree completely with that. Fair enough the trophies have not been flying in the door but I have never been more entertained attending Ashfield in the last 5 years than I have in the last 20. Truthfully, at the end of the day I would take that all day everyday and twice on Sundays over winning silverware. You want to see the team do well and it would of course be nice to win something but the knowledge of turning up to Ashfield and witnessing top class competitive racing outweighs silverware in my honest opinion.6 points

They obviously confusing Poole with Plymouth.5 points

No good blaming the track.Tigers we’re crap. These guys have been riding for years and still can’t find a set-up.Standard excuse.5 points

WOW are you seriously thinking i know what was going on in Poole bus station while I'm in my lounge in Manchester., must be big news in Poole for a stabbing.4 points

There’s no point anybody blaming the track.Poor opposition was the main reason for poor spectacle.4 points

The track isn't crap at all. I've been going to Poole for over 30 years and have witnessed countless classic meetings. I will admit that it's currently not as good as it has been, but it's certainly not crap. Our boys cope with it very well and so do most other visiting teams. Yes they may lose, but they don't endlessly bang on and on about the track. Last night the Tigers were just woeful. Couldn't gate, couldn't race, couldn't do anything. End of. Therefore they got a good tonking. Oh and not all Poole supporters go missing when we have a poor season I have supported them through the good and not so good times and I will continue to do so as long as thery exist....which I sincerely hope is for many years to come4 points

It's amazing that the likes of Redcar and Scunthorpe come to Poole's so-called 'carp track' and manage to make much more of a contest of it by scoring over 40 points respectively?! Yet a so-called 'top team' simply capitulated.4 points

So Lawson didnt revel in the dirt on the outside then?4 points

Firstly Glasgow was very poor that goes without saying as 15 last places is a shocking statistic but let’s be fair Steve the Poole track is crap and that’s backed up by the almost complete lack of overtakes. Poole have an excellent home track advantage and took full advantage of Glasgows shocking performance. I am not sure who thought Vissing and Complin were a good idea but Brennan was outscored by Pijper. Its all been pretty downhill since Dickson left.4 points

Great to see a true appraisal of Glasgow's performance last night instead of blaming everything but themselves.4 points
-
Well done Poole. I only saw heats 2-4 but doesn't take a rocket scientist to read between the lines. You have to ride what's in front of you and at Poole, that means gating. I don't understand why people would rather watch gating than racing, but they make it work and people pay, so that's how it rolls. Surely experienced riders can learn to set their bikes up to gate there, at least after they've had a ride? Anyway, on to Friday. Might not be a trophy, but plenty of passing, and that's what I like to see.4 points
-
As a neutral watching this meeting, how can there be good racing when there is a complete no show from the away team. It takes 2 teams to make a good meeting and Glasgow were just outclassed. It was like watching Halifax away meetings in the 70s and early 80s. Cannot blame the home side or the track, start with Team manager who is crap, and riders who looked beat before 1st corner.4 points

I'm watching this on BSN. Is anybody else suffering an occasional picture break up where the picture briefly goes a bit pixelated? My broadband and wifi are fine and normally BSN is excellent.3 points

Hate to break it to you lisa nobody benefits from what you or anyone posts. Sorry to shatter your illusions of grandeur.3 points

Ffs Lisa your like a dog with a bone, how would he know how serious or not it may have been. It has been known for an Ambulance to be called for non-emergency incidents. You are trying to make something out of nothing here.3 points

Cannot just have a wet T shirt comp for ladies anymore... In fact, you may need around 18 different categories...3 points

Not sure where I said any of that but I will try and make this simple for you to get your head around it. Ultimately I would be fairly content finishing second in the league after seeing 12+ meetings that were chock full of passing and entertainment and that is basically the story for the Tigers anyway for the last good few seasons. Trophies in speedway are just not quite the same in other sports. Again, would be brilliant to win something from time to time but winning trophies is definitely not the be all and end all in speedway.3 points

I don’t think it’s there now , apparently it fell down a hole on the 1st bend. But it’s a great track.3 points

You got to love Poole threads because their fans talk absolute crap it makes for great reading Shovlar …. Says that Glasgow has a team of gaters and couldn’t race ….. thick or trolling?? Poole have a team of gaters hence last night they led after 20yds and Glasgow weren’t good enough on an absolute shocker of a track to try and pass and let’s be fair Glasgow were poor The track just leads to poor poor racing and yes Poole get decent crowds because they are doing well the fans don’t care about the racing …. It’s well known the Poole fans disappear when their team struggles At Ipswich we know we don’t have a great track and doesn’t lead to great racing we just have Emil and Doyle which is great when they miss the gate Why Poole fans can’t acknowledge their track is crap is what leads to their threads being the longest on here3 points

Fully agree re Hoggy , totally approachable and will give it to you straight (as far as he can go ...sometimes further depending on the number of sherbets consumed !)3 points
-
Why such negativity? On a sub 8 average I think it’s a no brainer. If he is committed as he says he is he’ll easily add to that average and it strengthens the team.3 points

Well if it's first hand accounts you're looking for. For KL fans, or indeed not, Dave Hoggart is the main guest on this week's No Brakes No Fear podcast. A good 20 mins or so with him and you can find it here https://pod.fo/e/189c6a or here if you don't have a podcast app of choice and want to listen online https://britishspeedway.co.uk/podcast/ The chat is in part 2 which is about 25 mins in.3 points

This is also were problems can start. A little chat trackside things get miss heard & misinterpreted & once information gets '4th hand' it can get dangerous. A '1st hand' account, direct from those involved is all we need. British Speedway isn't in a strong position for 'Radio Silence', it's making the situation worse, especially for fans of struggling clubs.3 points

I've barely followed speedway since Swindon closed down. But going back a few years, I seem to remember that the Poole track was excellent every week according to the Poole fans but when the TV camera's were in town and everyone could watch it then it would be shocking. This was apparently always be a one off (at least until they were next on TV!)3 points

Pinned the hopes on bomber being a "Poole specialist" when he got 5-1'd in heat 1 I'd imagine heads dropped massively. I agree beat before a wheels turned. Like to know what it cost to bring nowak over to roll around at the back like a novice!!!3 points

Yes we were crap because we could'nt gate. We knew this going into it but came out worse than ever. This time last year we had Ostergaard who made us respectable by gating and by default winning races, despite not being the fastest of riders no one could pass him. I'll disagree about Lawson & Worrall revelling in the outside dirt, they revelled in the 20 yard dash to turn 1. On the one occasion Lawson didn't gate quickest he couldn't get near Basso over the remaining 3.5 laps despite Basso also not looking the fastest. It is what it is, Glasgow aren't a bad team but can't blame anyone else, it wasn't a mystery what the track was going to be like.3 points

I think the Berwick fans are being a little harsh on their team. Bar Poole, they were basically the most competitive team I've seen at Oxford this season. The three late 5-1s definitely flattered Oxford at the end - looked like it was going to be much closer before that. It was also going to be hard for a number of Bandits riders to score big when they are facing either Masters, Nicholls or Kerr in the majority of races. Schlein was superb, battled hard and never gave up.3 points

It's worth remembering that Mr Boxall was never proved to be a drug user he simply failed to take a test & the only outcome is that is presumed to be a positive test & the maximum ban was applied. I believe before he is allowed to hold a racing licence he should be required to take a test at his own expense with SCB/BSPL/ACU witnesses present, Should the test prove negative then he can return to racing3 points
-
You miss my point. He has British Grandparents, which means, surely, he should have been on a 2 at Newcastle, rather than the 4.00? Anyway, this has little to do with Plymouth vs Berwick.3 points
-
Etheridge has been going backwards for the last 3 years but has still been a shoe in when team building comes around. Flint after initial promise is bang average. Both be number 1 and 2 choices for next years 1-7 no doubt.3 points

Glasgow as a team just can't ride Poole, ruts or not, bloody awful display really3 points

I think the phrase you need is learning disabilities.2 points

Now that is a professional at work.... Always see an opportunity... Never openly criticise your punters... A "growth mindset" can aptly describe those of a similar disposition... Be positively constructive in any criticism you give, accept all feedvack as useful, take calculated risks, make mistakes, learn from them... Imagine if all promoters had such a mindset?2 points

Rumours of further changes at Berwick. Claus Kristensen and Jörg Pingel have been spotted near the Shielfield pit gate2 points

After the meeting at Leicester the whole team and manager come out on the track and gather in front of the crowd on the home straight for interviews, photo's, chat's with the crowd etc. I know they've done this for a while, I've never really stayed behind before as it was a Saturday night and I had other things to get to, but I have stayed behind and listened to the rider/manager interviews this season and I must say it's something that's done excellently at Leicester and they bring the team out immediately after the last race so there's no real hanging around for it either2 points
-
I think he’s trying to make a point. Most Glasgow fans have been bleating on about how they’d rather have exciting racing at Ashfield than worry about winning silverware….so why wouldn’t they turn up to watch the ‘exciting racing’?2 points
-
Bomber is not at the peak of his powers now (understandably). Basso is the type of rider that can look world class on occasions on the right tracks and surfaces but really should be a 3rd heat leader at the moment Brennan is probably the most disappointing, has plateaued this season in the UK , back at reserve for Belle Vue and probably struggling with captaincy and expectation at Glasgow. No doubt adjusting as younger rider have to with the expansion of riding in Poland. The others are pretty much riding as expected with young Pijper outperforming expectations and massive credit to him for that.2 points
