Well that was only my second meeting of the season and it was very good. However, what I really wanted to say is a well done to the stewards and medical staff. I was literally standing next to the unfortunate gentleman who was injured. He feinted and hit his head on the ground very hard indeed inflicting a nasty wound. The response from stewards and medics was rapid and professional and deserves praise. Thankfully the gentleman was lucid and talking when they took him to the ambulance so hopefully no major damage done. Well done all at Oxford.11 points

I agree, not sure why any Poole fans would be concerned about their title chances. I'm pretty sure ONE away defeat will not stop them getting into the top 6 in a 9 team league!5 points

And also having some realism when judging their capability.. The likes of Screen, Louis, Loram, Woffy, Lambert and Bewley we HL's in the top league within a couple of seasons racing, and for a few of those riders, the top league was full of the very best.. If the current crop of youngsters reach HL level in the Championship it will be good for the sport, as the more spaces getting filled by UK riders the better.. We seem to see any young talent who appears better than his peers as some sort of potential world beater... Generational talents are, by definition, few and far between... Just let the lads progress, create loads of ring fenced riding opportunities for them in the 2nd tier, and see where they end up..4 points

Fair comment, I was just pointing out that a reserve who doesn't always get more than 3 rides can still learn and progress under Garry May's management.4 points

Personally I thought they were quite noisy (in a positive way - except for the booing) - then again, I was stood next to them! There were certainly plenty of Poole fans on the third bend.4 points

Concur with all of the positive comments. From the moment you park on the very secure car park and get on the modern coach and get dropped within a few hundred yards of the track. Good entry points, food much improved from when I was there last year. Massive crowd, great atmosphere, good hard racing , great work from paramedics sorting out the guy in the crowd and hope he's ok. Poole below par and a disappointment but not to take anything away from Oxford, top 3 rode very well, especially Kerr, others chipped in, especially Atkins who is riding very confidetly and as he says in a place where he feels valued and with senior riders mentoring him (no body better at Scott han that) A lad I've long thought had potential - he suffered shoulder injury (not leg) at Somerset in 2019 just as he was performing better than Anders Rowe, missed a large chunk of season and ended up at mildenhall I remember in NDL. I recall going to one of 2 meetings at Plymouth in Covid year 2020 just before 2nd lock down in the September when he was outstanding against Young Lions outperforming Brennan / Edwards / Thompsons etc. He then did his shoulder fist NDL meeting in 2021 after winnign 2 rides and needed season off for a very serious op (like Kyle Howarth had) , obviously rusty at start of 2022 and big issue between his dad and Gary May (that goes back to 2019 I'm reliably informed and perceived lack of care by Somerset) so he left and unsettled last year. He's clearly at home at Oxford and riding NDL giving confidence for CL, acid test will be when he moves to top 5 - if he does - but he's certainly finally fulfilling potential. Glad to hear Brummies won but I'm told again not a great crowd, probably 400-500 mark. I've no idea how many at Oxford last night - I'd say at least 1500 may be more, and obviously when Oxford can draw crowds like that then the sky is the limit for them in terms of potential. One match doesn't mean Poole aren't still very strong favourites at end of the season, but at least now they know they are not invincible. Just a great night of Speedway and a reminder of what it can be and used to be in the late 70's and early 80's. I'll be back!4 points

If you are willing to basically bank roll something, then, naturally, you would expect some/lots of control as to how the money is being spent.. If the recipient of your finances isnt willing to allow that, then the benefactor is quite right in withholding their cash.. Let's hope for Peterborough that there is a longer game at play here..4 points

Owned by Jake Mulford and Dan Thompson in the same week. It's just sad at this point.........Watching Andersen this week is the equivalent of watching your pet dog die.3 points

Oxford get a good comfy win last night and all they can do is moan about Poole fans not being noisy lol.3 points
-
In number yes, but the intrepid visitors fro Plymouth a few weeks ago were making more noise than your lot were for most of the evening. But hey it's just one match and over the course of the season I'd still put my money on Poole to take the title. Three away wins in a fortnight, top of the league, victory over fiercest rivals - these are pretty much regular events for you guys at Poole but for Oxford's fans who didn't see a wheel turned in 15 long years it is a joyful thing of unimaginable proportion. Sometimes it isn't about you.3 points

Bad result for Sheffield tonight but don t worry we ll get to the play offs and bring lambert in to see us over the line lol2 points

Go and speak to Garry May in the pits before the meeting he's very approachable and will give you all the answers to any questions you want answering much better than bleating on about things on the bsf,at least you'll have a better idea of the difficulties involved with putting a team together, then you your bleating may be a bit more educated. Garry will welcome a conversation with you.2 points

It was very much the same at Somerset with Anders Rowe as the other reserve. Atkins is doing well enough at Oxford with a much weaker reserve partner but you would have to wonder what might happen if his average put him into the top 5 & Heeps or Jenkins drop to reserve & he only got the minimum 3 rides. I guess watch this space....2 points
-
I think he's going on alot of hear say,I know the facts as I'm sure you do,at no time did the management or promotion want Atkins to go,it was a decision made by team Atkins, if Atkins had stayed he would have got alot more rides as gilkes got injured and missed the rest of the season, personally I think it was the right move for all parties involved, will be interesting if Atkins gets promoted to the main body of the team and possibly struggles and is replaced by a reserve he may spit his dummy again or he might thrive,he's definitely got ability but he's a confidence rider. By the way Ben Trigger, 17yrs old,2pt reserve beat Atkins in a 2 man race at Plymouth.2 points

It seems a barmy idea to let a sponsor put money in, change the colours of the team, agree terms with s much better rider than they ended up with at the start, and still be paying the wages.. Crackers... Surely the sponsor would have covered the wages of Holder, hence the signing? I cannot believe that Holder would have been sorted out a set of new colour kevlars without some concrete financial backing behind his signing.. And "if" it all went Pete Tong because of an ego not wanting him on the team, then that is fundamentally ridiculous, and even more so when what has transpired since has panned out for Peterborough.. Speedway is a bit of a shambles isnt it? Wasn't a certain someone in "charge" of it for a few years? I can only presume that those two things are not linked in any way, and just a huge coincidence...2 points

not sure they have much to complain about. they are getting plenty of opportunities, perhaps more than their talent deserves.2 points

I know it’s been the case all season basically but I still find it sad that we go into a meeting with zero chance and the question is how many we lose by. A real sad state of affairs all round.2 points

Sam Masters finished second in Heat 10 off gate 4. At least it's possible to race at Oxford - it's not all over by the second bend as it is at Wimborne Road. Terrific racing last night - a number of races where positions were still changing on the final lap. I realise that may have given you a nosebleed, since you're not used to seeing it Great performance by Cheetahs last night - Poole's top end strength didn't do the job and the Oxford heat-leaders dominated, while another fantastic performance by Henry Atkins at reserve.2 points

Fantastic effort from the whole 1-7 tonight, I couldn’t fault a single one of their efforts despite a couple scoring below par they certainly deserved more. The remodelled Birmingham team certainly looks a force if Batchelor keeps his form like tonight. It sets up well for us to take the aggregate bonus point though with only 6 points the deficit, every point will be crucial if we are to surge in to the playoffs as expected.2 points

Pleased to see it as well - it was in my view wrong he didnt get a starting place in either league - waits for the usual waffle and piffle2 points

Whatever, you got access to talk to the management or promotion you choose not to and moan about the team not performing, that access is not available in soccer,so a poor comparison. More to do with not having the balls to speak to those concerned. I got called out a few years ago by Mark Phillips who said if I could do a better job come and manage the team for a challenge match which I did,if you're going criticise surely it's better to equip yourself with the facts instead of doing it on here. I've asked alot of the questions you want answering and I'm happy with the answers because I've heard it first hand.1 point

I remember the Test Matches down under whereby many riders came back to these shores a better more complete rider. It certainly didn't harm Gordon Kennett who toured Australia in 1975/76 and he proved inspirational when riding for White City after a career spent on smalll tracks up to that point.1 point

Two similar away wins in a week for the Lions. Fewest heat winners in both matches. Down to the last heat in both, despite having had decent leads. Carried Harris in both. Come on Bomber, join in. Being entertaining is not about screwing up in Heat 14 to keep it exciting. Yeah, I know, I’m being greedy, Dicko’s boys are on fire!1 point

Yes, you are repeating your point yet again… Sigh! "I've been told I'm pretty much on the money."….ROFL. That claim has no weight at all without naming your source. I could quite easily claim that I've been told the complete opposite. (I don't want or expect you to actually name your source, just pointing out your claim basically means zero). I see that according to the Panthers website City Auction Group are still showing as sponsors so definitely some money has come in. For everyone else's sake, let's drop it now and agree to differ.1 point

??? Have they (illegally) switched back to a Thursday race-night? Or have they moved up to the Premiership without telling anyone???1 point

As of last night, it seems that Peatboghorror hadn't told Ipswich they were using Hagon. After KL's failure to notify the Witches of their line-up for the #Bustergate postponement, is this a sign that the Deadbeets and P'boro are morphing into one ....1 point

Masters 0 was in heat 13 when he was out of gate 1, ironically Richie won out of gate 4 in that heat.1 point

And yet your captain won the toss and chose to take it I ht 1, thereby gifting gates 1 & 3 to the Cheetahs in heat 15.1 point

Beginning to show some promise at Somerset in 2019 then lost two years thanks to covid in 2020 and a broken leg (and I think a second injury later in the season when attempting a comeback) in 2021. That"s a lot of ground to make up. Very popular at Cowley, and interestingly, given the circumstances of his departure, much love shown for him at Plymouth the previous evening.1 point

The way Atkins and Jenkins are starting to perform I have Oxford as slight favourites ,but any of the top Teams making aTeam Change could change things round.Nichols is having a vintage season.1 point
