  1. I think it is a great idea, which shows innovation and fan focused improvements to the sport, every meeting going forward has to have a winner which brings huge excitement.. Unless of course, you lose it.. Then it is a contrived crap idea and they haven't a clue on how to run things. What is bloody wrong with a draw anyway?..

  2. It wasn't the most exciting of meetings in terms of racing for sure, but it retained some interest in the scoring and seeing if Sheffield could build up a big enough lead for them to hold off the Witches big guns in heats 13 and 15. I don't think Sheffield's track is as suited to modern day speedway as it was in the past, especially at this level with riders being so fast and not making as many errors and 10 of the 15 heats tonight were won by riders who are world class and rarely get passed. Another issue must be the long dry spell which has made track preparation everywhere quite difficult, especially when it's been as hot as it has. The racing has been ok at Owlerton this year. Not brilliant, but entertaining enough. Any sporting occasion can be boring. It's the nature of sport. But it's not quite as boring as some of the f**kwits who seem to make up a large proportion of the posters on this site that can't wait to decry speedway at every opportunity.

  5. Gutted we lost the meeting, but thoroughly enjoyable night of speedway that had a bit of everything. Mulford was superb, and it's great to see him come on week by week. Hume and Bailey again rode well and maybe deserved more. Wright was superb but shows we need all our heat leaders to be firing really. Heat 15 I thought we maybe got lucky.. Ben Cook is just so good to watch round Redcar, alongside Worrall and Lawson who rode well. Congratulations to Poole, and I think a great advert for what this sport can be.

  6. Busters still a d**k though tbf, The guy has been involved in so many broken down relationships to a point where he's giving Megan Markle a run for her money. Tomalin is just another name on that list.....They've both let us down by not sitting down to iron differences out like mature adults, It's only us fans who've lost out at the end of the day and we may never get another chance to rectify this campaign and that's why I'm annoyed with both of them. If we had a guaranteed future then I wouldn't be annoyed, I'd just ride the storm out but it's the threat of going out disgracefully that doesn't sit well with me.

  7. And all joking aside , that is the sad part . Craig was a terrific rider to watch round Ashfield , wonderfully entertaining . And a constant thorn in our side during his first stint in the blue and gold . No reason he can't be that rider again if he can put what the trouble is behind him

  8. If you find someone I bet he's devilishly good looking & an hell of a rider.

  11. Thought it was a mistake to take Edwards out of Ht 14. Deserved win for Poole though they just hung in there and are always going to be a handful in 13 & 15 for any Team.Great ride from Lawson in Superheat.

  12. Could easily complain about 2 man team under performances etc but know what, that was a brilliant meeting. Thoroughly enjoyed it and heat 13 was as good if not better than Berwick. Borke looks a talent for sure. Minor point why was lasse and not Kye replaced in 14? Not made a difference but lasse was far better imo

  13. Well that clears that up, then!!!

  14. I'm confused. Are we trying to claim a rider who voluntarily sat out for 6 weeks to not endanger other riders, potentially costing himself a team spot in both leagues, is now being irresponsible and riding? Or is it simply lost in translation to what he actually meant?

  15. Sedgy off the back of a Prem paid max, Kye having a confidence boosting best prem meeting so far, Bastion had a promising debut and will find the Ashfield bowl easier to ride than the Dale, Paco and Lasse have never had a good meeting at Glasgow so must be due one, and young Dayle showing last week he can pick up points at this level. Wait a minute, I think we could win this one! Note to Blobby - stop being so pessimistic, man, just relax and enjoy the speedway

  16. You are right, he was looking pretty good and better than I had expected. Everyone knew the signing was a gamble, more than others, and it's not looking good at the moment. A cracking rider who was great for both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Shame how it's ending.

  18. During lockdown I watched plenty of old speedway meetings - some were from the Save Oxford Speedway Channel many had the Nielsen era and the racing certainly wasn't that great, Nielsen often just cleared off into the distance. I also started ordering some meetings from classicspeedway that I remember being belters when I was there - mainly from the 80s and again on video they don't come across that great at all yet I remember them being hugely exciting at the time. I have always said Speedway is best live!

  19. Will say this back in the 70s especially some team only visited once in a season Belle Vue prime example as both Lynn and Belle Vue at that time was Saturday night speedway so when Belle Vue visited it was go that night or wait till the following season now when Belle Vue or any other PL club you oh well go next time . And Saturday night speedway you got visiting fans sometimes even a coach now mid week racing that doesn’t happen. Of course bigger crowds better atmosphere obviously but won’t happen now sadly

  20. Totally agree BB,some people get stuck in the past and think it was great then compared to now.But as you say the racing isn't much different at all.You got a lot of strung out races back in the so called good old days. The only thing different back then was the size of crowds and atmosphere that made it seem that much better imo. What else did we have to do in the 70's and 80''s,apart from the obvious. Was thre a baby boom in those decades

  21. I've watched dozens of old meetings back. And tbh it wasn't as good as some like to think it was.

  22. Also, I would have paid £22 to watch Sayfutdinov ride round on his own. Probably one of the best performances from a visiting rider in my 49 years of watching speedway and the first time he has ever seen the track. Absolute genius.

  23. Saw Lynn v Sheffield and it was dire. Tonight totally different…great meeting, plenty of effort from Stars. Hard to find superlatives for Artem. Class personified. A real fillip for the Stars and am delighted for Mr Chapman. He deserved to see Kings Lynn deliver a really entertaining match. Well done

  24. Pretty special wasn't it in an otherwise pretty unspectacular meeting. Great team performance by the Lions and judging by their comments after the meeting most of them weren't very happy and there's a lot more to come. Where are the people that were calling for Max to be replaced at the beginning of the season after 2 or 3 matches?

  25. Summarised - The old cliche, heat 13 was worth the admission alone. Brilliant to see a new rider to British speedway like Borke giving it a real go. Definitely one to watch out for if you are chasing down Harris on his own track in heat 15. If Mr Cook had turned up tonight Edinburgh could have been looking at an away win. Potentially time for the tigers to start pondering a change.

  26. Watch out Watch out there's a stalker about! Lewy you should be worrying about your own team. How did they do tonight at Scunthorpe?

  27. Fair play to Edinburgh for making a very enjoyable meeting but job done in the end. Basso and Harris were superb and the admission money was worth every penny, you were hoping they missed the gate heat 13 was sensational. Sedgemen and Borke were excellent value for the Monarchs backed up by the international porn star.

  33. That is one of the poorest Champ line ups I’ve seen for a while. I’d even back the Comets or other top NDL sides to beat them!

  34. Good signing but don't see the logic unless we bring in 1 or 2 others..we are 4.5pts under the limit with Iversen at number 1 now..it actually makes us weaker.

  35. But did everything he could to pass his team mate on the last bend to rob him of a point, point is he didn't need to do it

  37. Were certainly the in form team right now. Mad Max looks brilliant now at Leicester. Sedgmen has been a rock and everyone is chipping in . I fancy us now for the play offs.

  38. In 1926, Cambridge undergraduate and keen motorcyclist, Lionel Wills, visited Australia. He later wrote about this visit: "To a keen motor-cyclist, a trip to Australia did not hold forth much promise... "My first pennyworth of Sydney newspaper contained a pleasant surprise; for there, tucked away in a corner, was the announcement 'Speedway Royal - next Saturday 8 p.m.' "A strange new word - 'Speedway'; but it sounded not unlike something to do with motor-cycles. "Saturday arrived: I paid my half-dollar and trickled into the grounds. From the other side of the stand came a roar, the old familiar sound of a racing Douglas..... "I broke into a run [and] burst into the arena. Two machines were hurtling straight at me at a hundred and fifty miles an hour, neck and neck, clean out of control. They were skidding, broadside on, engines roaring flat out, and for the first time in a mis-spent life I shut my eyes and waited for the crash. "No, no crash! Let's have a look, sure enough there they are, blinding down the straight and heeling madly over into the next bend. This time they're for it; they can't get away with that sort of thing twice; the chap on the outside is mad - you can't skid a motor-cycle like that. Hi! Someone stop him and tell him so; this is blue murder. "Came a bored voice from behind, 'Shut up, you fool, they're only practising, wait till the racing starts!"

  41. I don't think Danyon has much control over where he is going and doesn't go in the same place very often,, so Doyle was probably very apprehensive of passing him

  42. If the team manager wants to use him to build up a bigger lead for the aggregate point, then that shouldn't come into it, it's his job!

  44. ……There is now! Fricke was awesome tonight. He had so much speed it didn’t seem to matter if he gated or not, or against who he was racing against. Max grabbed the headlines but Sedgmen was brilliant again. He’s red hot out of the tapes and although he’s not as quick as some others, he seems to ride a clever line and is difficult to pass. Expected the Aces to be more of a threat to be honest but they never really got going. Lions are really on it now at home.

  45. I came on here expecting to see that people were saying that Max Fricke's win in heat 15 was the race of the season so far at Leicester but there's nothing!

  48. It’s a fair point, but I doubt many on here know what tests, medical examinations have taken place, so it’s just speculation really. If he’s not medically fit to ride then he shouldn’t, if he is then he should.
