We had a fantastic day . Thank you words Can’t quantify just how impressed we were by what had been achieved. So much space, so much potential snd most importantly, the work done has been done to a very high standard snd using quality materials. Attention to detail including the landscaping snd tree planting, shows a promotional to team not afraid to spend money. the pits are the biggest I’ve ever seen!!! the track shows just what can be achieved on a blank canvas. Eat your hearts out Leicester, this is what you could snd should have done !!! To be honest, the track is too good for national league riders to fully exploit. Just wait until you see the top guys racing on this track which has the potential to be the best race track on the country. i think you missed a trick by not charging for car parking. no one would object to paying £1 / £2 to park the car snd all revenue helps i wish you every success for the future. Everyone connected with getting this far should be proud of themselves I’d strongly urge all fans to get there snd watch a meeting . You won’t be disappointed Csnt wait until you are in our league do thst I csn watch the Brummies up there. a fantastic day, well worth the 500+ mile round trip11 points

Some excellent points here, IMHO. The quality of the landscaping, viewing, access points layout, high stewarding level etc are all small but significant details that shout "long-term project". The track itself is a masterpiece. I don't think you need a lot of passing in a speedway meeting -- but you do need the threat of it, inside and out, and this circuit has it in spades. Steve Lawson's mantra has been the avoidance of pinch points, to let the action flow, and frequently you'd see four riders all confidently choosing different approaches to the corners rather than queue up behind each other on the one line. And if you go right out beyond map and compass territory, to the steeply banked land of the brave where the white line is in the next postcode and you have to steel yourself to keep it wound on, you reap a fabulous dividend of momentum. Bailey in heat 10 (to my strangled comment of "where's he going?") and Sam McGurk later both did it and promptly rocketed past opponents on the back straight. So, a day of triumph and great promise. But it's a promise that can only be fulfilled with public support at the entrance gate. The likes of the hobbit, 520-mile round trip, and I (420) are not going to be regulars at every fixture. Next week's crowd obviously won't match that of the opening day. But I do hope that speedway fans locally, amidst the cost of living crisis that's affected so many people around the country, feel able to turn over their hard-earned cash and help make the venture thrive.8 points

So your saying Doyle was excluded for things he has done in the past. Watched the incident back a few times and still come to the same conclusion, Zmarzlik knocked Doyle off, it clear and its simple. The referee bottled.6 points

Don't care what anyone else says on here - for me this afternoon that was indeed13 quid well spent...........Yes some will quibble about food/beer prices but all in all the whole arena, packed as it was, gave me exactly what speedway at its best can do for total enjoyment. Comets are back and it was great !!!!!......... Crowd estimates for me were above 2000..well packed in all available areas....the weather obviously added to the overall experience but roll on the next fixture..UTC.6 points

Fantastic to have competitive Speedway back at Worky. The delight delight on the faces of the long term fans was plain to see. Thank you to all members of the wider Speedway family who made the journey, I'm sure every one of you help make it an even more special day for Andrew, Steve and the rest of the team who have worked tirelessly to make it happen. The weather was the icing on the cake. Nice to get the new era off to a winning start. Some fans not used to this level of speedway may well have been surprised with the general high quality of racing but these young men are obviously very comfortable and accomplished on the bike. All square after 7 heats at 21 all Comets took control of the second half of the meeting with 4 5-1's not conceding another heat advantage and the like of Sam McGurk, Connor Bailey, Ace Pjiper and Elliot Kelly gave the fans a glimpse of the competitive racers they are. Can't wait for next week. UTC !!!5 points

I always preferred the points you score being the points you get, getting in a final on 8 and being awarded 20 if you win it is a joke5 points

Not even a racing line that Zmarzlik was taking... Far too narrow up the back straight meaning as soon as he threw the back wheel out he was going to make contact with Doyle.. Amazed Doyle didnt lamp him when he walked back... Bewley and Woffy both had chances to clamp their opponent on the line by coming across him, and didnt do it so got passed up the inside (again)... You dont win all GP's by just gating and going fast when in front... Interesting that when "chaos" was occurring the "veterans" that are always "full gas" ie Doyle and Lindgren come out of it in the best positions because they still go into potential dicey situations full pelt... Zmarzlik is certainly pushing his luck with his own health as for the past couple of years he has trodden a fine line between "genius" and "reckless".. One "unlucky" moment could have serious consequences for him...5 points

And poor old Dale won’t no which pit bay to be in with all his job for the boys in one meeting .4 points

This type of incident has been discussed many times and as usual people see it different ways. For a long time, the falling rider getting the decision was the default decision by referees, so this is what people expect, but it seems now that the tide is turning a bit. For me, Doyle left Zmarzlik a gap coming off bend 2 that he was inevitably going to take and he was passed. While I agree with the comments saying that Doyle didn't lean in on Zmarzlik, and that he continued on his natural line, was that wise when you know that someone else is already on that line now? Zmarzlik didn't move towards Doyle either, and had nowhere else to go, but Doyle had probably 70% of the track width available to him to avoid the collision. It's racing, and we all want to see close racing, so this type of incident is inevitable unfortunately. It was a racing incident and without prejudice, I think the referee got it right.4 points

2.41 available to (temporarily) replace Killeen, Kinsley is was 2.13 / 2.08 with reduction. Personally I'd go for Kinsley for 28 days for a few reasons, 1) it would give him more track time to help the NL side 2) if Killeen is fit before the 28 days are up, he can ease himself back in with NL racing 3) Kinsley can't guest for a 2.00 rider, so Oxford would have to look elsewhere for guests 4) allows Kinsley to put himself in the shop window for another club (Scunthorpe) if he rides well, but isn't kept on3 points

We had dates available. If we didn't want to race, why did we manage to arrange races with Poole in the playoffs? Surely that would be the competition we'd want to win more, and be awkward about dates... Yet we managed to provide a banged up 7 regardless. If we could provide 7 for that, I don't see why we'd make it a problem for the cup. So it doesn't make sense to me that we were the awkward ones. We are the most flexible team on dates. We own our track and I don't know of any local restrictions. Regardless, the real fault is with the speedway authorities for not organising things properly at a central level. It shouldn't be up to any club to dictate things. Set the date, tell the teams to turn up, or forfeit. Easy!3 points

I do hope you’re not visiting William Hill with this prediction in mind……..lol3 points

I wish you more luck in presenting the case to the management than I had. Going back to the early days, all I got was a "meh" reaction when I pointed out the existence of the Motorsports Engineering Faculty at Birmingham City University that's only 2 miles away. But hey, who needs them? What do these professors and students know? They could have had some work experience at the Brummies and then buggered off to McLaren F1 and all the effort would have been in vain. OR they could have looked at how speedway engines were designed and tuned, and maybe found cost savings in how things were done...but that would have been a threat to the established way of doing things, and you can't have that, can you?3 points

The biggest Homer referee of all time. Zmarzlik should have been excluded. Race should have been awarded. Holder and Doyle both robbed. Referee lost his bottle The speedway world is intimidated by Poland. When they say jump the rest of speedway says how high!3 points

Glad Holder slammed the door shut though and hopefully a few of the others will not just wave him past like they have done for a while. Bartosz reminds me a lot of Marc Marquez, won a few world championships but will do everything to keep that going3 points

Can someone tell me why this race was not awarded to Jack Holder? In GB racing it would have been. Why do the other two riders get another bite of the cherry? Clearly going into the last lap Holder had won the race. Is it different in grand Prix. To me it lacks common sense.2 points

We have ..a ref can watch video evidence. The trouble with any form of Var it call still come down to one person's opinion .2 points

I think it was a 50 -50 call..the main point that you quite rightly point out is how unlucky Holder is.. Common sense tells us that the rule should be that the race should have been awarded in this case.2 points

Holder was ahead and closed the door which is fine , Zmarzlik was off line and went for a gap that wasnt there. Big difference.2 points

Zmarzlik definitely at fault and the ref bottled it. Clear as day. Glad Holder slammed the door on him in the re run.2 points

Club is at stalemate however there is a very interesting rumour doing the rounds that an ex promotor is readying a deal to takeover. Emphasis on the word rumour however.2 points

Cracking GP from the first heat. I’m not a Holder fan but he must feel robbed, and rightly so. The referee had two decision to make, both involving Zmarzlik, and my view is he got both right. The first one was cut and dried, the second one seems to be controversial. If you watch a rerun and keep your eye on BZ from when he drew level with Doyle as they came off bend 2, then you’ll see he didn’t deviate from his line. After he was ahead of Doyle, Doyle turned into him and Doyle did the Chris Harris jump off (something Doyle criticised Harris for doing!) Doyle is usually the master of histrionics but he seemed to take his disqualification more calmly. No pushing cameras away or flouncing into his pit bay. That suggests to me he knew the disqualification was fair.2 points

I not a Jack fan but he was robbed tonight, shame. Whilst in the past most were applauding Zmarzliks genius, I always reckoned he was verging on wreckless. For two years he has had an easy passage, put under pressure, like tonight, and the wreckless Zmarzlik might come to the surface and be more noticeable. I just hope none of his opponents get injured. If it’s Freddie that is going to take it to Zmarzlik then I am happy with that. Even more so if Freddie come out as winner. He deserves it, always a trier. But he needs some backup. Disappointed with Leon Madsen. I know he been carrying a back injury last couple years. If he has had surgery maybe it’s not worked and it’s affecting his performance.2 points

He wasn’t in front tho Doyle was, he had more speed coming to the corner having made a longer straight but what’s Doyle supposed to do just turn right shut off and wave him through??? as others have said if it’s the other way round the decision goes the other way every time, zmarzlik gets every decision going it’s a joke2 points

Ashton Boughen is hopefully a future star in the making, not 16 till august i believe, rode at Oxford on wednesday on a very tricky track and looked like a wily old campaigner.1 point

I was lucky enough to see Arne Pander ride when he was at his peak but he was never the same after he suffered that fractured skull in 1961. There is little doubt in my mind that he if he had remained injury free, he could have become world champion - yes, he was that good!1 point

Yes, it's as conclusive as it gets, some bloke on twitter that hates Zmarzlik and has 22 followers has started a poll and got the answer he desired You lot are hilarious It was a 50-50 call which Doyle rolled the dice on. Can't blame him as he might have won the re run had it gone his way.1 point
