  3. Yes it's early days and nowt is won in April/May however this Birmingham team as it stands will not win anything, Yes they have a good No1 but his high average was built on being very very good around his former home Track at Leicester, take away that home track average and it is/was obvious to most people his average would drop, but that high average limits the remaining team building possibilities, that is the start of where the team building has imo gone wrong, yes it was also thought that this would be a strong team at home and that they could get the odd away point. I will say again, I have a lot of time for Laurence Rogers and he spends many hours doing good things within Speedway, but a good team manager he is NOT, whoever makes the decisions at Birmingham Speedway should be on the phone to Alun Rossiter and do whatever it takes to get him in as Team Manager at Birmingham, because take it from me Birmingham people will not spend their hard earned money on watching this team as it presently stands. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but something needs to be done otherwise I can see the West Midlands being without Speedway in the not to distant future.

  11. Very healthy crowd for the previous 2 meetings and plenty of OAPs amongst it so they were not put off by the new fangled internet and no cash.Sometimes I think people like to make out that the old are incapable of any new tech forgetting that most have been using it for years my opinion

  14. A good sized crowd can look small there as it has a high capacity and the back straight stand holds quite a few. Probably still around 2-2.5k there.

  20. I wish everyone involved all the luck in the world and a very big well done, and good luck to Workington in the coming season, whilst its obviously a work in progress "Rome was'nt built in a day" the main part is already done..

  21. Leicester running with their own contracted seven riders? A ridiculous situation... There should be rules about this... The crowds these days expect to see loads of lads from neither of the clubs appearing that night... Won't end well all this, you mark my words.

  23. Just seen this on the Workington thread in the National League section, and I thought it was worthy of a greater audience as not everyone looks in the National League section. This should be used as a blueprint for all future tracks in the UK.

  35. It gets better... The update on Facebook, supposedly promoting this meeting shows a photo of the two Brummies being trounced by opponents. And I bet someone from the Brummies hierarchy will be on here bemoaning that I'm the one with the negative outlook on the team...

  38. No need to buy Poole stadium. Just lobby the council to transfer the lease away from GI who are currently not meeting the terms of the lease agreement. The Poole promotion have enough support and experience with their sponsors etc to run the stadium and introduce other activities to it.

  39. The price of land in this area is ridiculous. I bet prospective promoters have looked. Best thing they could do would be buy Poole Stadium. Cost a pretty penny mind. Then you would see why costs are so expensive!!!!!!!!!!

  40. Brady Kurtz rides tomorrow in Poland and not at Leicester for Belle Vue.. The UK give up Thursday as a protected race night.... The UK is already very much a 2nd rate nation when it comes to Speedway when up against Poland.. Poland even dictates when FIM meetings takes place such is their power... And, to be fair, with the money they pay out, they should dictate what happens and when, as without that money the riders wouldn't have the same income levels...

  41. Just to correct the last paragraph - I was in the Peter Craven Suite last night for the amazing celebration of Steve Casey’s life so checked. At the top of the stairs, outside the suite, in gold letters, it says “Peter Craven Suite”. Below that, there is a photograph of the “Wizard of balance” himself. So yes there is a mention and yes there is a photo

  42. I hate to say it, but I have to agree with you. I personally know - and have known - many, many indivduals who have suffered major strokes and other life-changing events. I will admit that quite a few of them are a "little different" to what they were pre-stroke, but not one of them has turned into such a totally bitter and unpleasant individual.

  43. And sometimes you are just simply bang to rights. I am sure that there are many still of the opinion that Harold Shipman was just a little trigger happy with the flu jab and that Fred West was over enthusiastic when he was fitting damp proof courses.(cue the indignant comments of ''How dare you compare him to a mass murder etc etc) I have the list on my desk and it runs into the 100's and 100's and that's a fact. Whether you choose to believe that is none of my concern. The late Phil Rising was sent a copy and was well aware of its contents. This, I might remind you is from an ex-rider who retired some 36 years ago. According to some 20 odd riders I spoke with recently, all confirmed that they did not get a free pass during the one year PC was Promoter. In addition, the tone of the many letters received personally and by the BV management were abusive and demanding. I would challenge anyone reading this to say they would capitulate to such demands made this way. The P&L of any speedway club sits in the hands of the Promoter and so does the decision of the 'free list', Not an ex-rider of any description. Someone earlier mention Hans Nielsen. Does anyone think Hans would make such a demand of the current Oxford promotion and expected this to be granted? Its unthinkable. I have bitten my tongue on this subject for 7 years and have an A4 ring binder full of letters and notes that are appalling from the hand of the ex-World Champion. I also have copies of 3 letters sent to him from the BV management asking to come down and discuss the matter. Plus 1 inviting him to discuss a meeting to celebrate 40 years since his 76 victory in 2016. All unanswered. Interesting don't you think? The disgusting note scrawled in my late friends book really was the last straw and the facts need to be put out there. For those of you intimating that there are two sides of the story, its a witch hunt and it was a moment of aberration, you are welcome to your opinion. I much prefer facts. I have a clear conscience about all of my postings. The book incident was the last of many such abusive incidents and only 10% of the iceberg has been revealed. There is no getting away from the fact that Collins has totally brought this upon himself.

  44. Personally, I wouldn't give PC any money after his shocking behaviour. The apology made it worse in my opinion, as it's clearly only an attempt to protect book sales.

  45. Thanks Tony. And I appreciated then and am happy now to acknowledge your gestures. You were, of course, as much an innocent party to what happened as was Steve but I did and do believe that what happened needed to be made public. The one man who should have apologised has remained silent. As I have said elsewhere, PC’s behaviour was unforgivable and I am not alone being shocked and disgusted by it. I know he’s got a huge chip on his shoulder about the NSS, but you don’t take your bile out on one of the guys who has worked flat out to achieve a reconciliation.
