Have to say after watching some of the videos and interviews on the club's twitter I'm getting really excited about this season. I always thought Ben might drop a bit start of this season but was flying for Peterborough the other night beating doyle and Emil. Potentially best 2nd strings in the league now Marcin has his own gear over hopefully see better performances away from home. And Lee seems proper fired up to get out reserve Berth which would be some achievement in that side. And even if we don't win the league ashfield going to be the place for entertainment this season!!5 points

What about fans who don't have a local track, or are unable to travel to away matches, or simply can't afford admission prices?4 points

Don't know if you meant that as a negative comment towards Berwick, but Edwards taking Mulford's rides is the equivalent of Berwick racing a team above the points limit!3 points

You can bet if next year starts at the end of April we'll have a dry March & first half of April, then a very wet spell as soon as the speedway starts!3 points

He fell off on the practice lap they do a few minutes before the parade. Didn’t see him come off but he was limping and being attended to by the paramedics for a few minutes.2 points

What about the elderly, disabled, people in hospital, people away on holiday, people who are working late. There's many reasons fans might chose to stream if they can't make it to a match. Get rid of streaming & you'll lose all these payments! There maybe some who chose to stream, who would normally attend (especially in bad weather) but Speedway is always better live than on TV, so don't imagine there would be many choosing to stay at home if they could go.2 points

To be fair, I don't think Tomlinson did much wrong. He always insisted that houses could not be built until the Stadium was completed, and it now seems to be being completed. The reason Swindon closed down was down to Osbourne and Russell. If Terry Russell decided to shut the club down, there's nothing that the local MP can do about that. I guess that what will now happen is the stadium will be completed, the houses will then get built, and then Osbourne will eventually sell of the newly completed stadium and it will get demolished. I'm sure the work that is going on there now is purely a legal requirement to allow the remaining houses to be built. If so, Tomlinson was true to his word.2 points

Watching Emil Sayfutdinov race last night was something special. Do you think Ipswitch have done a big favour to alot of other clubs to bring in the crowds when he rides away at other tracks this year in the UK ? When Ipswitch are in town its a definite one to watch and hopefully if Nick Pederson is ok that should help bring in a few extra in through the gates around the country. Anyone else ?1 point

You would expect Claus to make a mockery off his average if he picks up we’re he left off the last time he wore the stripes. I know some say his average is a 5 because that’s how he rode but we all know he’s better than that much better, really looking forward too see how things pan out. I expect Ben to be number 1 If he continues his upward spiral but it all looks promising hopefully it pans out the way we all hope.1 point

Scunthorpe have a 28 day facility "which can be extended" for Kennedy so in fairness Wolves MUST be allowed a 28 day facility for Becker (surely)!1 point

Not sure if it is a league ride thing, but so far this season both teams have had a couple of minutes of practice laps before the parade at Redcar. Did not see it myself either but that's when Flint came off, looked pretty painful. Fairly run of the mill meeting in the end, slick track (understandably) meant gating at a premium. Schlein impressed with soms good gating and hard first bends. Edwards was excellent with Hume and Bailey also looking decent1 point

Most Testimonial’s cannot now be taken seriously. It was usually rewarded after 10 years at the same club. I have no idea why that suddenly changed. Understand the ‘Farewell meetings’ (after long service) but not those that benefit then return a year or two later.1 point

I was quite close with my prediction. Rory did well, definitely not rusty!1 point

At the NSS it's the quality of the racing rather than the quality of the field that we go for. Many remember the first Craven meeting when the lineup looked decidedly ordinary but the racing was brilliant.1 point

Going to Redcar soon my prediction is 51-39 which would still keep it interesting1 point

I once had the pleasure of meeting Mary Hopkins when she attended Shielfield to witness the Bandits take on the Canterbury Crusaders on a rainswept October night in 1977 and she did indeed say that at the time. We all thought she was barmy though.1 point

What is probably more damaging to the club, rather than a comment on an obscure forum, is there being no Speedway on the opening night of the season when the weather is fine after all the build up, returning to the top league, a spot on local TV and radio and the visit of a former World Champion and the returning Russian. Instead the season opens with a junior match. Still, you can't do much about the weather without some kind of track cover system.1 point

Firstly, we are in England thankfully . The meeting being off tonight comes as no surprise giving the weather in Berwick this week. Monday was lovely, since then we have had showers and longer spells of rain each day.1 point

A lot of changes I’m hearing out is holder nicki and lindgren replaced by sedgman Kye Thompson and Hans Andersen1 point

Just pointing out facts. Maybe the best thing to do would be start the season later and finish it earlier? With the amount of fixtures, should be pretty easy to do.1 point

One day you'll come up with something positive and develop a can do attitude instead of constantly coming up with reasons why things can't be done... be sure to tag me in when you do1 point

It's OK saying it's "dry in Scotland atm," but first, where in Scotland? Secondly, it doesn't really matter what the weather is like now, if the damage has already been done. As far as covers are concerned, you need volunteers to put them down and take them back up again. Not always possible. Some tracks may not be allowed to put covers down, owing to their landlords not giving permission. Berwick have/had covers, so maybe someone can tell us why they were not used in this instance?1 point
-
That's odd because it's nice and dry in Scotland atm. You know you're getting old when you find yourself mumbling "I remember when riders rode through sleet and snow!". Club owners will one day have to come up with some sort of solution to keeping the track dry up until tapes-up. Large sewn-together track-shaped cut tarpauling (four individual segments?) draped across the track from over the top of the air fences and weighted down on the centre green perhaps? They have to do something soon otherwise these milder summers with more rain are ultimately going to kill this sport.1 point

...I would add Reading to that. A poor loss to the sport and again clouded in "rumours" and "stories" regarding promises of another site but, as yet, has come to nought!1 point

We have worked fast to rearrange the KOC match against Berwick originally planned for tonight to now be in two days time Redcar vs Berwick Sunday 2nd of April, 5pm Ecco Arena, Middlesbrough Please share and make sure no one misses the1 point

Correct. You could have a darts match between two pub players who were evenly matched and have a good tight contest but only averaging 60-70 and you wouldn’t fill one table at the ally pally. Roll out the Van Gerwen’s and Gerwyn Price’s averaging ton plus and you’re packing the place out. Speedway isn’t as popular as darts though obviously but it’s the same principle albeit on a smaller scale.1 point

For all the moans on why crowds have dropped its always been quite clear to me that the main ireason s that the standard of rider has . The most stupid thing I kept hearing on here is that we don't need top riders. What other sport would work like that. If Emil or Nicki are riding at my local track I'm going its as simple as that. .1 point
