  1. Emil loves the British fans, that's utter nonsense from the plastic Aussie.

  3. The big disadvantage of no pay at the door on the day facility is you can't take someone along without making a prior plan. I have a friend that is a massive rugby fan & I was in his area one saturday morning so I dropped in to see him. As time passed he asked if I'd like to go to watch his rugby club play & of course I agreed only to discover their pre-pay only policy. So the outcome is my friend lost his £15 for not attending & the club lost £15 by not allowing me to pay on the day via cash, card or in kind. I understand we are in the 21st centery but also people are now living a hectic lifestyle where plans are very fluid & change quickly.

  4. Watching Emil Sayfutdinov race last night was something special. Do you think Ipswitch have done a big favour to alot of other clubs to bring in the crowds when he rides away at other tracks this year in the UK ? When Ipswitch are in town its a definite one to watch and hopefully if Nick Pederson is ok that should help bring in a few extra in through the gates around the country. Anyone else ?

  5. I really can’t warm to him, I wish if he didn’t have anything constructive to say about speedway in this country which is having a tough time anyway don’t say anything

  6. More like the ground hasn't dried out enough from autumn and winter yet, so it's softer at this time of year anyway, but this year it's worse than usual. Plus, at present the temperature drops steeply once the sun has gone and that produces dangerous track surfaces as moisture rises to the surface - like it was at Swindon a few years ago when Martin Vaculik had his early season crash. Once the ground is generally more dry as the weather (we hope) warms, rainfall should be less of a problem unless it's torrential of course.

  7. Lee stopped riding after his crash at Scunthorpe in 2012 ,he badly broke his collerbone .I was there and like many other thought Nick Morris was to blame, ironically Morris guested in place of him at Leicester the following evening.

  8. He will come back this time, but i think he is only an injury away that keeps him out of the saddle for a few weeks, for him to think whether it's worth it, given his age and injuries. As Lisa said i doubt his Polish club will like it either. I hope he's here for the season myself. Puts bums on seat, and we all need that..

  9. Oh right, thanks. Well, we've got another five years yet to plan for that which probably means, if British Speedway runs true to form, somewhere around 1st Feb 2028, they'll start to think about it….

  10. Away win IMO, something I may be typing more than once this season.

  11. I was really bad at getting my point across yesterday and apologies to all 125 riders. Often the 125 & 250 classes are the most entertaining during meetings my point about the spectacle was that the NJL has 3 heats of the same 4 riders in each class and that can often (not always) produce the same result 3 times. I think for the MDL to survive they need more weekend tracks to participate, those that do run meetings need to make a much bigger effort to get them on (a lot of wasted travel occurs due to curfews met) and as covered to make it sustainable consider the switch to include 125 riders and generate the natural progression. In its hey day there was a strong amateur scene that enabled riders to compete against a similar level, then progress up and into the MDL etc safely. Sadly over the past few years the gulf in ability has been vast and bordering on dangerous in places which certainly doesn't help the cause.

  13. But again, Buster is entitled to move the goalposts as he’s the owner. Some don’t seem to be able to grasp this. Holder was NEVER getting in a Buster side was he? That isn’t a shock. If Tomalin/Tomlin/Tomilin or however his name is spelt, wants to build his own team then he has to purchase the club from Chapman. It’s very simple.

  18. I’m sure as Zaine is a reserve and was in a declared 7 riders and approved by the BSPA the Scorpions will be able to get a reserve guest upto his average

  21. Scunthorpe & Glasgow are Friday tracks so I would presume Theo will be with Ace. Confirmed signings thread is wrong as J Allen does not get discount. He is 6.30

  22. Tbf was going with confirmed signings thread, Kennedy 4.27 and they were 0.26 under the 40. 4.53 by my dodgy maths but the thread may be wrong

  25. Yes, there are descriptions of sliding round small track from before the First World War in the USA.

  26. Yes. By 1928, Australia had a whole network of speedway tracks with a number of different promoters presenting what we would know as speedway. Vic Huxley, for example, was known as "Broadside" Vic Huxley from about 1926 onwards. And I think it was you who actually posted an article from a newspaper dated November 1923 (a month before Johnnie Hoskins' much- vaunted West Maitland meeting) describing the correct way to slide round a corner.

  30. But presumably he committed to Peterborugh to earn money? I don't see him jacking those earnings in myself, especially being the determined character he is. Maybe if he has two or three big crashes he might decide to cut the UK out but not after half a lap of the season.

  32. Well people seem to be blaming Buster. He isn't perfect but he hasn't done nothing wrong imo. So yes when people try and put the blame on him i will back him on this one... MT was the one giving it the big un, and tried to undermine him imo. On NP, i always worry when an old (in age) rider comes back to the UK at the end of their career. Will he last a full season...Who knows.

  37. I think this is how Speedway is heading nowadays. Clubs don't want to risk poor crowds in bad weather, or calling matches off just before / after start times - so the safest option is to cancel hours or days ahead. There's enough gaps in the fixture list to only race in good weather (well maybe). Biggest issue is holidaying fans, planning fixtures ahead of time (happened to me) but for the majority, early call offs saves time & money!

  40. Like Diamonds85, I am looking to pop over sometime when the weather is warmer, I have not been to Speedway for quite a while and found that as I'm now 75, I feel the cold very much and my legs are not great, so if I can find somewhere sit down using my folding camping stool and watch the racing, I'm willing to give it a go. 43. I think Steve was probably referring to the anniversary of the first known meeting in Britain, at High Beech in February 1928.

  44. To be fair to Worrall, (and his brother), they both struggle when riding at No3... Hence when they rode for the Aces the team always came up short as usually one of them ended up there... No2 is the position in the team for both of them as off the inside gate in heat one, their starting capability can get them to the first turn in the lead, and both have the capability to ride the kerb for four laps and stay in front on a freshly prepared track where the wider lines havent yet developed... Putting either at No3 puts pressure on them, and they struggle, and with a much stronger heat leader level this year it will be compounded even more..

  45. Nobody wanted Worrall but Buster

  47. Agreed but not his fault or rocket science is it? (not having a go at you, just looking at the problem). The pits don't let him out; those who did must have heard the start of the announcement? If it's too late then those on the mic can see, same as everyone else, what's going on so shut up until he's stopped and off track.

  48. As long as new fans don't go near the rulebook then should be fine!

  49. Don’t know why anyone pays any attention to track records. None of them are accurate. That will change with the transponders.
