  1. We are in Ipswich and it is pouring so right decision. We are staying overnight so plan B put into operation and having a nice meal in the pub. Shame as we were looking forward to getting our first fix of methanol.

  3. Yes, we should be helping our own, in my opinion. I really think, speedway should ditch its professional/paid image, it should now be an amateur sport, which would make it cheaper for promoters, hopefully, cheaper for supporters and probably many riders. That way you can rebuild speedway from the bottom up. In my opinion, it will then be more attractive for promoters to open tracks. They may start as a 'track in a field', but it would be a start. Let's face it, it definitely won't survive as it stands.

  7. Basically, if a race had to be restarted when no one is deemed to be at fault, the riders only have one minute to get back to the tapes to restart the race, not the “normal” two minute allowance about bloody time too !!!

  11. I know it's unavoidable due to the unreliable British weather, but people on this forum seem to spend as much time talking about weather forecasts as they do Speedway. Would it not be a good idea for British Speedway to only start running in April? Yes, I know April weather wise can still be unpredictable but I'm sure there would be a better chance of getting matches on than mid to late March. Just heard that the Ipswich versus Peterborough fixture has been called off so that's already three this season with no wheel turned as yet. If the match goes ahead at Sheffield tonight, I'm going for a Sheffield win but I think the score will be closer than Phil's forecast.

  14. What a really negative post from someone who has probably never organised a public event. The two teams will have to consider the safety of riders and the paying public, the distance that supporters and riders will need to travel and how reliable the weather forecast is. At 11am it is IMPOSSIBLE to say if it's on or not unless you postpone everything that has any doubt surrounding it. I suspect that it will called off around 2pm.

  17. Jan quickly won the fans over at Durley Wood when he arrived midway through the 1970 season. If I remember correctly his home debut included a couple of last bend overtakes to help clinch a victory over Wolves. I think Cradley were allowed to sign him to bolster a weakened team, but no sooner had he signed then Colin Pratt suffered career ending injuries at Lokeren. I think the dark forces of rider control wouldnt allow him to return to Cradley in 1971, so he only rode a half season in the green and white.

  22. ...I have to say that Soren Karlsson is an intriging one? Turned out for the "Bees" I remember before signing for Swindon? Remember Bob Kilby saying that on a non-riding visit to Birmingham when he shared a car with Soren that Soren was off his head drinking sherry!

  23. BSPA APPROVAL GIVEN!! We received some great news late last night that due to the crazy that we have found ourselves in, the BSPA have given their approval to the Redcar promotion to run a 5th attempt during the season, rather than wait for the allocated October window. We are extremely grateful for this decision, and discussions are now taking place with Redcar to come up with an alternative date for ROBBO TAKE 5!!!! Once we have a confirmed date, we will of course communicate it out. We will do all we can to try and ensure the line-up is just as competitive as it was for the attempt last week but during the season rider availability will be a lot different copied from Stuart Robson Facebook

  24. The old British League Division Two was introduced to generate riders and worked well for a number of years under the retitled New and then National League. However the two leagues moved apart when mis-trust and egostical promoters became prominent and then the intoduction of foreigners only added to the slump.
