Any Poole fan that was happy with JT surely would see DanT as an very good replacement,still young and has lot of improvement to come IMO.Couple of weeks and he would soon have the track and set ups sorted IMO.

Dan Thomson would soon get to grips with the track after a few practices there great kid doesn’t say much just gets on with it

Having been told on how Jack's crash happened - it was an accident that would've happened on any other track in the country. As for Scunthorpe's fencing needing SCB inspections - we obviously have replaced our fence, which has already been SCB and FIM approved, while we will also have foam fences (similar to Berwick and Kings Lynn) coming in time for the season, in an attempt to make the track feel safer to ride on. It goes without saying though, I send my best wishes to Jack for a speedy and well recovery

Hawkins said on Thursday night on radio Suffolk he should be on a bike this week in Aussie before he’s over and then has plenty of practice in Poland before season plus they’ve got 2 or 3 planned practise days at Foxhall before the first meeting

Think Proctor is the best 4.00 rider available tbh, he averaged 4.55 (5.52) in 2022, which is far better than Hook 2.78 (3.44) for example!

Some might be revaluating Birmingham's side now Proctor has signed at reserve. I know hes had a lot of injuries in the past but he could easy put a point or 2 on his average riding at reserve.

He was scoring pretty well at home at least start of last season proctor, won heat 1 at ashfield I'm sure very comfortably. Personal opinion might work out better than most of the others suggested for the spot.

Are you differentiating between promoters and directors (shareholders). Glasgow directors include Ian and Johnnie Hoskins (1946- 54) Tommy Miller and Junior Bainbridge (1956) Trevor Redmond, Rob Netcott, (Trevor's father in law) and the Hoskins from 1964. Danny Taylor bought out Redmond and Netcott in 1967 and subsequently sold out to Les Whaley in 1968. The Hoskins sold ahead of the 1972 season to Jimmy Beaton and Neil Macfarlane, while James Wallace bought out Whaley during the 1972 season.

Rew is not riding for his parent club Leszno in the U24 Lge this season as he did in 2022. Leszno decided to loan him out to Gdansk Coast in Lge 1 for 2023 to give him more experience against more experienced/better class riders. He is following a similar path to what they did with Jamon Lidsey. This means racing mainly Sundays so no real clashes with UK Prem or Champ. Also in a POL interview he stated that besides Ipswich he also wanted to secure a Champ slot (for which he would be a 5 point rider and not 4 only because he has raced in competitive racing in POL Lge 2 and DK Prem). I understood it was more a cost issue previously in view of flights/mechanic/equipment/accommodation/workshop etc as he planned to base himself in POL with I think his POL girlfriend. You would not have such costs with a Rowe or Kemp or Thompson much as I would like to see Rew at Poole.

Well that would work but surely if he could have ridden for Poole they would have signed in the first place.

Yes that is true, he had one great meeting at Poole when he was a reserve apart from that not too impressive although I think he rode at 5 sometimes which would have been tough, he was very good at Leicester but he has done a lot of laps there. I doubt his scores in the later stages of last season were much different to Kemp and he wouldn't have Kemp's attitude so I think after some laps at Poole with the guidance of the more experienced riders and Middlo he would do well. It looks like a straight choice between Kemp and Dan Thompson to me.

I think if he'd calmed down a bit he could have gone a bit further with his career... seems quite wild on the bike at times and therefore very injury prone. Don't know about his off track exploits so can't really comment on whether he's been misguided

Ah yes Hyde Rd , so many memories. The BLRC was always around the date of our son's birthday so each year it was a family day out , firstly the Zoo, then off to the speedway which was always a great atmosphere & when that finished the rest of the evening at the funfair along with many other supporters .Great times .

I would say Dan is a better option, he has more potential in my opinion. Bit strange he hasn't been able to get a ride in the Championship.

I'd personally go for Kemp, if you compare his average as a number 6 3.15 (3.65) to Flint who rode as a RS 3.54 (4.25) it shows he's not far behind the man most agree should be the strongest "RS". He may also feel he has something to prove after being overlooked for a team spot in both leagues. There's no real risk with a rising star though, if you get your first pick wrong, just try another! It's never going to be a case of the averages not fitting!

Depends if Kemp or Rowe sign for both Poole & Ipswich, they'll both be "match fit" then. Mind you even if Kemp only signs for Poole on one league, that's no different to the amount of racing Kyle Newman is getting!

Main Polish team? I swear I saw him in a Polish squad of some kind! Possibly the same one Scott and Hans are in but I am not 100% sure on that.

Personally I don't think it's a conundrum at all, Poole built the team they wanted, Rowe, Kemp & Dan T are all similar standard to Thomas, so they have a very simple choice imo. If they wanted Batchelor & Ablitt sure they would have chosen them from the start?

No chance of Phil becoming a puppet, Im sure the promoters won’t interfere and will just let him get on with the job and be a success and then take the plaudits!!

Regarding the majority shareholding in Midland Sports Limited, I posted most of the following information in a similar thread about six years ago. In 1924 Allan (often named as Alan) Sanderson, a London based businessman (owner of London Lubricants) and racing driver, purchased the house and 200 acres of land at Selsdon Park in Surrey for £13,000. In 1925 the house was converted to a luxury hotel, operated by Allan and his wife Hilda until 1960, when their son Basil took over the running of the hotel and a golf course which had been added in 1929. The hotel was sold by the Sanderson family to Principal Hotels in 1997. Allan Sanderson formed Midland Sports Limited in October 1936. Initially the shareholders are believed to have been Allan and his wife, although various family members and members of the Ochiltree family were involved in later years. A mortgage was taken out in 1937 and this may well have been to fund the purchase of Brandon Stadium. Allan Sanderson died in 1968, following which Charles Ochiltree, as Managing Director, took the lead role in running Brandon Stadium. Other members of the Sanderson family continued as directors of the company and were almost certainly majority shareholders. Midland Sports Limited appears to have been restructured in 1992, becoming Midland Sports Stadiums Limited, with shareholders comprising Basil Allan Sanderson (until 1996), Mrs Shelagh Sanderson (until 1997), Charles Ochiltree (until 1998), William Peter Gilmour (until 2002), Mrs Linda Ochiltree and Martin Ochiltree. Allan Mark David Norton Sanderson was also a shareholder from 1996 to 2002. From 2002 onwards the sole remaining shareholders appear to have been Linda and Martin Ochiltree. Just after the war Allan and Hilda Sanderson acquired Lythalls Lane Stadium in Foleshill, Coventry, from Coventry Greyhounds Limited, the company which had built the stadium for greyhounds and speedway in 1928. The running of the stadium continued under the name of Midland Speedways Limited from 1950 and after greyhound racing became less profitable it was sold by the company for redevelopment at the end of 1964. When Allan and Hilda Sanderson purchased Leicester Stadium, Blackbird Road, in 1950 the track became part of Midland Sports Limited. Charles Ochiltree took a minority shareholding in the company and had a role as General Manager of Midland Sports Limited. Hilda Sanderson was the owner of several greyhounds over the years, based at Lythalls Lane and Blackbird Road. Barratt Homes made an offer for Leicester Stadium in 1978, but this was not accepted. However, greyhound racing was staged at Brandon from September 1978 and this suggests that the venue was seen as a replacement for Blackbird Road, which was an established greyhound track. It was important to the Sanderson family at that time that a greyhound venue should continue to be available. Midland Sports then finally accepted a bid from Barratt Homes, with the sale completed in 1984. The Sanderson family would have been the major shareholders at that time. Regarding Coventry and Leicester speedway, I am sure that Charles Ochiltree would have regretted the loss of the Leicester track when considering the crowds attracted to local derbies between the teams. When Allan Sanderson was granted a licence to operate at West Ham in 1952 a deal had to be agreed with the stadium owners. With the National League struggling for teams in 1964 Midland Sports Limited was involved in reviving West Ham. Reg Fearman states in his book Both Sides of the Fence that in 1950 the stadium continued to be owned by the Greyhound Racing Association. I understand that the GRA still operated at Custom House until the stadium was closed for redevelopment and probably continued to be the owners up to that point.

Kings lynn don’t have an air fence that pops or that you can slide under at Scunthorpe if the bike goes in first 9 times out of ten the body takes the full impact into the armco. It really is a dangerous fence that as caused far to many serious injuries the last few years

Still don't understand the many anti Richie Worrall comments, especially ones like "if he doesn't perform could see himself dropped" wouldn't that be the case for every rider in the league? Anyway compare Worrall as a number 4 against other teams: Belle Vue - close to their 3rd heat leader Wright (stronger in the Champ) & far stronger than second strings Blodorn & Brennan. Ipswich - 0.3 below HL King (stronger in Champ) stronger than Riss. King's Lynn - on a par with Jorgensen / Pickering Leicester - weaker than Morris Sheffield - harder to compare as Bellego has missed Britain, but stronger than Howarth (similar in Champ though) Wolves - on a par with Douglas & S.Worrall So on the whole, don't understand why many were unhappy with the Worrall signing!

Could be a tough league this year, hope it is. predictions are way harder as you could put a valid argument in for any of the teams. 1. Ipswich. Look the strongest on paper. Rew is probably the key and it depends how quick he settles in. The strongest top 2 bar none. 2. Belle Vue. Solid look with young chargers only getting better. Lidsey is on a steal of an average. How that hasn’t been reassessed I’ll never know. 3. Sheffield - extremely solid. Bellego is a much better rider than when last here. Gilkes definetly one to watch. If he comes back well from his injury they are going to be very dangerous. THE REST 4. Leicester. Solid top 4 but very iffy bottom end. Will need one of them to step up to be serious challengers. 5. Wolves. Look exposed compared to some of the other teams. Masters has proved he is a true number 1. Becker or Douglas (or both) really need to step up otherwise we could be hovering around the basement. 6. Peterborough - Pedersen and Iversen are so injury prone so both need to stay fit. Basso should improve also. Definetly an improvement on 2022. Lots of injuries to other riders with dirty Nicki back here. 7. Kings Lynn - solid but not real leader. KK has to be the worst signing. How long will he last before he stops trying and gets kicked out. Never been a big threat in the UK league. Jakobsen at reserve is a huge bonus.

This is going to be the big test. Phil always comes across as somebody who doesn't suffer fools gladly. If he decides something needs changing and the promoters all close ranks again he won't stay in the job long. It's a a role so many of us have called for over a long period of time, but it will only work if everyone buys into it.
