the date is 10 December, i posted a cryptic clue, 10th December was 76 days ago, that's 76 days of blood sweat and tears from Chris and his team, and probably started the process in November sometime, they never gave up not to just give Ipswich the best chance of winning silverware but to give British speedway a much needed boost. there should not be 1 speedway fan in the country that shouldn't be proud of what louis as done, there shouldn't be 1 speedway promotor who shouldn't be proud of what louis as done, every speedway club in the top flight will benefit from having Emil show up at there track. so louis from one very happy aces fan, THANK YOU9 points

Similarly as an Englishman I’d like distance myself as far away as humanly possible from the actions of every one of the prime ministers of this country to serve in the same time frame as putin and beyond the thought of it being assumed I’m sympathetic to the likes of bojo just because of where I’m born is stomach turning haha8 points

And do people really think that Louis has waited virtually all the close season and announced it now without having all the required visa/permit/approvals in place?6 points

I'm sure you're bright enough to understand he had nothing to do with the decision to invade Ukraine, even if others aren't...6 points

Doesn’t seem to be any issues going by those comments.5 points

Does Emil own a small inflatable boat? Probably didn't want the announcement of Danyon to overshadow the signing of Emil? Don't want him falling to his death out of a bungalow window!4 points

Lindgren is a level above Emil and Doyle. He is in the prime of his career, Emil and Doyle are both nearing the end.4 points

Just how many maximums did he score in 2022? I can understand fans moaning about signing the world number 5 only for the play offs, way worse than RR and guests!4 points

With the many great memories of cycle speedway and the fact it's a relatively cheap sport, motorised speedway is missing a trick, by not being more supportive towards the sport, as it's a great introduction to methanol speedway, from so many angles. From little acorns!3 points

No chance of getting a visa. None. Russia is at war with Ukraine. Russia is destroying a beautiful country. People are dying. What sort of message is Speedway giving out here?3 points

100% certain it will cock up rather than conspiracy but at least it gives the offended brigade something to get exercised about - I am sure many including on here could not actually tell you the date the invasion started unless the press helpfully reminded them - besides as far as I am concerned this all started in 2014 anyway3 points

2021 Panthers title win was a once in a lifetime scenario though that'll never be replicated again imo, It was basically the equivalent of Leicester City's title win. Ulrich Ostergaard was like an astronaut in a space rocket which then opened the door for R/R to become a luxury after he got injured. The older members of the team all hopped into a time machine and ended riding like they we're 30 again.3 points

sadly over the years I have seen and heard a fair few speedway fans who do lack brains cells! In the past there have been a fair few on this forum also!3 points

Optimism and realism are worlds apart if he thinks that lot has got any chance of winning the league he’s deluded …sounds like Horton and Swales telling us how great our team was gonna be great in 2008…3 points

Perhaps the government should throw your wife out of the UK as well for her heinous crime of having been born in Russia! I’m kidding mate obviously. Anyone who boos Emil Sayfutdinov needs to give their head a wobble,, anyone with a brain cell won’t be doing that.3 points

It was probably only made today thanks to the Polish media making it known and no malice was intended in announcing it on the anniversary of the incursion but that said it all started some time before with Crimea. It is a good signing for U.K. speedway but we are an island with an awful lot of small minded individuals who look for a cause to rise up against whatever, irrespective of the facts. Most clubs will see some benefit and hopefully add to punters to the throughput on the gate. Woe betide the authorities if they veto the signing. It will certainly be an interesting season and Chris deserves some support for having the vision to go beyond the run of mill signings and shake up the sport with an out and out rider whose has an appetite to chase the glory. Hopefully speedway U.K. will benefit from this move.2 points

Max was well capable of going through the card at home, who would have predicted Jack Holder underperforming as he did, we were still missing two riders, broke no rules so get over it2 points

I think they are dipping their toes in the water to see what reaction they get. From the government, BSPL, sponsors and supporters . I tell you mine I will cancel the 3 season tickets I was going to buy and my sponsorship. I will be finished with speedway.2 points

I was part of a Glasgow 4 when we not only rode at CarrsWood in the Manchester 21st Anniversary weekend in May 1969 but we also slept in our transit van there that night. A really wet weekend, we ended up in a laundromat on Saturday afternoon drying out our gear - not quite like the denim adverts in the 70s! The sliding door fell off on the way home on Sunday night which delayed us somewhat. Great times a life time ago!2 points

Ipswich have 3.27 left for their final rider, as Keynan Rew is assessed at 5:00 and not 4:00 Chris Louis confirmed this at the staff signing-on night on Thursday.2 points

He’ll be well looked after by Guy Nicholls. His machinery will be top notch no danger of that. He certainly won’t be on the track spare!2 points

HelloOveFundinFan - The Satellite leagues were split into North and South sections - Partington in the North and Carrs Wood in the South so I do not think that our paths ever crossed. I think that Carrs Wood track built and maintained by Brian Moston was one of the top tracks in the League at that time. Now sadly gone. I think that you may have witnessed one of the Manchester Grand Prix held at Carrs Wood. I am attaching a copy of the more or less final league tables for both divisions.2 points

What a great team to be a part of especially for the younger riders, they will learn so much from Doyley and Emil. I hope Hume is the last rider, he deserves his chance.2 points

I wouldn't complain about Nationalities and stuff Under normal circumstances we wouldn't have had riders like Emil over here, So everyone who supports British Speedway should be excited and happy with this signing. We've all complained how weak the league has been over the past few years, 2023 is going to be the strongest league we've had in years which is only a good thing that will raise the profile of British Speedway again. I think everyone should forget about politics and just enjoy / savour every memory provided by an Elite level rider on track in 2023 because like us at Peterborough regarding Nicki, The chances of seeing Emil ride for your own team or riding in Britain period after this season would be very thin imo. Well done to Chris Louis who's worked tirelessly all winter, Must have been draining but he's got his man and nobody can doubt his commitment and determination for success.2 points

If it's Pedersen as mooted they look better than Lynn, Wolves and Leicester to me. And Mr Tomalin has money to make changes later on in the season. Ipswich BV and Sheff shoe ins for the Play Offs, the other three scrapping for fourth.2 points

23rd March vs Peterborough... I'll be there that's for sure... Might need to open the full backstraight... Always loved Emil, he's such a brilliant rider and an all round nice guy, I really am so excited to see him in the uk... I guess I'm an honorary Ipswich fan this year then? Well done Chris Louis, you deserve a medal... And for those who are slating Emil for being Russian, get over yourselves...2 points

Carrs Wood in Gately, south Manchester, was the first track that I saw cycle speedway. That would be late summer 1963. It was for an individual championship, Bob Duckworth had been invited to present the trophies and had he took along mum, dad and me. I got a program and it was advertising the 1963-64 winter league and inviting applicants. I followed it up expressing interest. Partington Flyers came into existence. Mum made the race bibs from sheets of plastic with vertical red and yellow stripes of insulation tape whilst myself and friend sorted a “track”, very primitive. As we were still new to cs and no knowledge, the track was too big, very long straights. Again, being new to cs, for the first few meetings we rode bikes with Sturmey Archer 3 speed gears, low-medium-high and wide bars. Completely against the “norm” but we were very green. I think Peter Collins, Dave & Chris Morton etc we’re at least 6 years younger then me and the rest of Partington Flyers, so we didn’t really mix with them, they were only kids! Partington was then only a small village, and everyone knew each other. We did though “hire” the Bedford dormobile off Peters dad, Bill Collins, to get the team and bikes to away fixtures. PC does mention his dads dormobile in his recent book (a large part of his family life), and also Partington cycle speedway (chap 6, para 3) which was a surprise to me. I remember one visiting team, Gorton, visiting for a winter league meeting. Gorton is the area of Manchesters BV Hyde Road speedway track, approx 10+ mile from Partington. This was a Sunday, and the lads got a train(s) from Gorton to Urmston, still about 4 mile away. They then cycled on their cs bikes, remember very low fixed gear, to Partington, raced on a largish track, then did the return journey. That is commitment, very commendable. One of their riders in that winter league, Johnny Watchman, became one of the all time greats of British cycle speedway, top man. Some of you may remember him. I cannot remember the result of that winter league, which probably means Partington Flyers finished last (highly probable) and I would think Gorton may well have topped the league - they had a wealth of junior riders, most if not all, became very good riders in the Manchester league summer of 1964.2 points

Everyone who was in dreamland yesterday that was ‘well chuffed’ with Hans returning still happy? All 7 heat wins and all from last season, 4 in 1 meeting at Ipswich…. What chance do we seriously have now? We’ve got a bang average/weak middle order and our big hitters are injury prone (not slating them for being injury prone before anyone comments) This is where we needed holder, someone who would have put 1.5 on his average at least, not worrall. As for Tomalin saying we will go and win the league im genuinely astonished at how good those drugs must be2 points
