I live close to Edinburgh and my wife of nearly 25 years is Russian. That doesn't mean she likes or supports Putin, does it? In fact she detests him. Most of her circle of friends here are Ukrainians and the already strong bonds between them have only strengthened over the course of the past year. Comments like yours are simply inflammatory and display a total lack of understanding of the whole situation. Similarly, Emil has lived in Poland for many years, has had Polish citizenship for many years and just because he was born in Russia, you seek to paint him as a Putin supporter. Pathetic.8 points

The SCB/BSPL are ultimately petrified of this Nora thing developing into a full blown breakaway IMO. Which might end up being the best thing that's ever happened to British Speedway, we might even end up with some competent governance.6 points

All of the news coming from this venture is fabulous for the sport, the custodians of the sport need to recognise this and propel Workington as an example and maintain a position that encourages investment in the sport. To mire this club with the usual political self serving bollox will deter anyone from investing in this sport forever. BSPL this is your opportunity to nurture and promote investment in the sport, burn it and you have fukt Speedway forever4 points

He isnt an idiot, and he puts rubbish on purpose to reel people in,,,, and he is very successful at it,,,,, and even after all these years people still fall for it,,,, I think they are the idiots4 points

Nah. Can you imagine if everyone who felt hard done by decided to go on instagram or any kind of social media to slag off whoever it was they were annoyed about, and in turn ruin that club/persons upcoming publicity promotion of their new gear? They’d be carnage. It would literally be happening every day,,,Thankfully that doesn’t happen it’s just Holder being a dick which isn’t surprising is it? There’s 2 sides to every story and this is clearly a case of wires crossed. There seems to be a power struggle going on at Peterborough at the moment than nobody knows the full details of. Holder was never riding in a Buster team, maybe the new sponsor got a little ahead of himself and thought he could do a deal but jumped the gun and has had to backtrack? Hardly crime of the century is it? Holder may feel upset and annoyed sure, but take it on the chin like a man and stop acting like a bellend.4 points

It bemuses me why some think Pedersen is the answer to our problems!! A great rider in his day , but past his best and totally untried since serious and potentially career threatening injury3 points

You'll have to excuse BassoRacingFan, he's the forum idiot and always talks a load of nonsense3 points

The same as the Ukrainians living in Peterborough when you had him nailed on in the Peterborough 1-7 so I suspect you know the answer3 points

Talk about ungrateful. If Buster hadn't stepped in,chances are you wouldn't have a club to support any more. The public don't know the reasons why any sale hasn't happened because its none of our business .We can only speculate as to why holders tram place has fallen through, probably because the sale of the club hasn't gone ahead, then you only have to look at his response to see that its just as well with Buster still at the helm. Buster might not be everyone's cup of tea but if you count lynn, Leicester Peterborough, belle vue and rumours of a guarantee in ippo's first season back in the top flight as being helped to a greater or lesser degree by him in the last few seasons, there wouldn't be much of a league3 points

Chapman needs to p1ss off out the club. Didn't he only buy it because the top league needed a certain amount of clubs when he was chairman? He did his job, now go. Tomalin seems to have the passion and money behind him to move the club forward. Chapman is a dinosaur and the club won't last long if he's in charge for much longer. Can you really see Chapman going to the council and fighting for the future of the club and putting ideas for a new stadium in front of them? How a bloke like this was in charge of the sport sums it up I'm afraid.3 points

Yeah, 'cos Buster has never done anything like that has he, always been a model professional. People see what they want to see.3 points

For sure. It used to be exciting, the World Of Sport credits after the aeroplane trailing the ITV WOS banners, the preview and the seemingly endless wait for Sports Special 2 at 3.10pm "Speedway from (wherever) with Dave Lanning, (maybe) Barry Briggs (and later on) & Gary Newbon". Always thought Dickie was genuiney interested in the different sports, esp speedway from the way he introduced, for example, when Bruce Penhall supplied CHiPS additional footage of 1982 World Final & THAT incedent, Carter & Penhall. Saturday afternoons have never been the same after 1985. RIP Dickie....3 points

Nora regulated Speedway might be exactly what a few people are wishing for as BSPL regulated Speedway hasn't exactly brought the crowds flocking in over the past 20 or so years, nor has it done a great deal to help British riders find team places once they have reached a certain standard, hence we have fewer British riders riding Speedway than at probably any time since the 1950's.2 points

He was the most talented/ best rider on show that night.. Ex World Champ. All the Poole team rode it. Be honest, he was sitting on the wrong side of the pits, and spat his dummy out when he got the chance. He didn't want to be there, and would of rode the same track that night if he was in the Poole team. What he should of done is show Poole they were wrong to dump him over his average and do the best he could to repay Buster's faith in him and giving him a job.2 points

If all riders adopted that approach every time they didn't fancy the conditions we would see very few meetings completed, & to walk out of the meeting was completely out of order. If had been paying the bills neither Holder nor his pal would have ever seen any of my money again.2 points

Imagine if we could get Chris Holder on a British licence with a reduction due to the number of seasons he has been out & a further reduction for being British, that would make Basso Racing Fans day2 points

from what i saw on the night, there were Poole riders not wanting to continue also but the manager saw a chance to take advantage of the situation and got his team riding2 points

Given that 2023 looked unlikely to happen at all at one point and 2024 is a pipe dream (If you think that Tomalin is the answer and PCC will be supportive then you may need to revisit that) then I'd enjoy the moment and be a bit more supportive of those putting in the time, effort & money in to give you speedway to watch and attend in the coming season. (just made bratters spit out his coffee ) Yes it's a cock up and has all of the business skill and communication output of a secondary school project but that's speedway, who's surprised? As Peterborough fans we know all too well what happens when you get an owner/promoter who wants to take the sport up a notch and take it in to the real world.2 points

It would be good to see more of the 2019 team riding as would be good for fans. Maybe Oxford could sneak Dan Bewley in! There are a few in the Championship too - James Wright, Stefan Nielsen, Claus Vissing, Justin Sedgman, James Shanes for example. Anders Rowe maybe. It would be nice to have some idea anyway.2 points

I don't think anyone would try and arge that Buster isn't difficult or doesn't have his faults but as Aries says hundreds of riders have ridden for him without any issues and only two riders acted like brats in that night in July 2017. As I've said before despite the situation looking bad I think P'boro have had a lucky escape.2 points

There has been literally hundreds, and I mean hundreds of riders who have ridden for Buster over the years without issues. Who over the years have supporters generally disliked the most because of their whinging amongst other things? Doyle has never been too popular with supporters other than fans of the team he’s ridden for,, same for Rory Schlein (or slime as fans liked to call him), Tungate, Batchelor, Jack Holder, Chris Holder,, bit of a theme there no?2 points

“In March 2009, Sayfutdinov gained Polish citizenship.” “and on April 22, 2010, confirmed Sayfutdinov as domestic rider and known as Emil Sajfutdinow” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emil_Sayfutdinov https://m.vk.com/wall-29678582_436890?lang=en Correct. If you look on the Ekstraliga app, he’s still registered as Emil Sayfutdinow, not Sayfutdinov.2 points

I can only go by my personal experience reference Chris Holder, & I found him very friendly when he lived in Whittlesey a few doors from me. Got introduced to him, & every time I saw him after that, he always made an effort to speak to me, & wasn't big headed in the least. We even got him & Darcy in a pub in Whittlesey one night, & he was brilliant company as well.1 point

Lol, yeah. Embarrassing. I mean suggesting a rider for a meeting only takes 2 min research to see if there are already riding. Doesn't like it that he got caught out lol.1 point

Long Eaton was a fantastic track, was lucky enough to get taken there once in the 1980's.1 point

Dale Allit. He was taken i'll at the interval and taken to hospital. Holder probably looked over to his Poole buddies on the other side of the pits and threw a wobbly. He would of rode if he was on Pooles side that night.1 point

Just purely as a matter of interest, what is worse out of declining to go out and ride, or going out to the tapes but then just pootling round at the back, maybe dropping out after a couple of laps? Seen many instances of the latter, but the former will get the headlines and reaction, even though it may be called a more honest approach.1 point

Just for reference too, Grigori Laguta hasn’t claimed Polish citizenship. After his comments made at the beginning of the war, I think hell is likely to freeze over before he gains Polish citizenship! He does however have Latvian citizenship I believe.1 point

Drew Kemp is another example. He recently admitted he was told not to sign for anyone else as he was guaranteed a ride for a club, but then was let down by that club who signed someone else and left him without a ride. He could have named that club, but to his credit he didn’t do that and kept it professional. Holder could learn a thing or two by someone over ten years his junior!1 point

Shawfield at its best was our best track and stadium. It had bars and a restaurant from which you could watch the racing and had enough cover for the whole crowd on a wet night. Ashfield, good though it is, has none of these. Looking back Hampden was poor though we didn't think so at the time. Too narrow and the final year with no music was pretty dire. Coatbridge was ok but don't remember it as being "amazing". It served a purpose. Blantyre 1 had a good track, not so sure about it's successor. Facilities at both were Spartan.1 point

The funny thing is, fans spent all season moaning about certain teams using guests & not signing a replacement only to complain when Belle Vue do the exact opposite!1 point

So far in this thread you’ve suggested: Jensen, Ellis, Harris, Riss, Douglas, Bjerre, MPT, King, Vaculik, Huckenbeck, S Lambert, Wright, Kerr, Batchelor, Kildemand, Schlein, Sedgeman, Fricke, Holder, Berge, Pickering, Allen, Lindback, Zagar, Kemp, Lidsey, Tungate, Nillson, Lahti, Pawlicki, C Cook, Etheridge, Mountain and Nicki Pedersen. (I may have missed a few) If you throw enough darts you’ll hit the bullseye matey. Oh and I agree, you’ll likely find out Thursday.1 point

Surely every track licensed by SCB for Speedway events has to have SCB-licensed officials in charge of speedway meetings, especially as its highly likely to be using ACU/SCB-licensed riders!! Surely riders taking part in any non-SCB track racing event at an SCB-licensed track need the written permission of their SCB Club, with the understanding that for any incident/accident to riders/officials/public, there is no comeback on the SCB. Any claim for insurance would not be entertained by any SCB insurance policy. I am sure there will be other anomalies which the 3-page article by the SCB's Jim Lawrence in the SS attempts to highlight - and will surely need to be sorted out for the NORA League to take place as planned to include SCB-licensed tracks.1 point

I don’t think for one minute that anyone would suggest PC illness had no effect on his wellbeing BUT I can not and will not accept that should excuse his disgraceful behaviour at the book signing and his disrespectful treatment of Mr Casey who actually bought his book only to have defaced with an insulting message. PC issue was with BV not with Mr Casey!1 point
