  5. He hasn't had a long running feud with Belle Vue at all. He fell out with Perrin at the end of the first season at the dog track and enjoyed cordial relations with Mole/Thomas and Mort/DG subsequent to that. To his credit, he supported BV at lots of events with his bike collection and other items. The idea of a 35 year long feud is patently not true. He was a regular at Belle Vue as you stated and flitted between the UK and Australia at that time. There was no feud over 35 years. PC came and went and did not take an active view aside from the casual visits. He was welcome on every such visit. This started in 2015 in the run up to the new stadium where Mort and DG made noises that the free list needed a big review as it had got out of hand. PC self appointed himself as the champion of the issue and started issuing demands that 100's and 100's should be allowed in with guests otherwise he was not attending. Many interpreted this as a noble gesture but nobody of sound mind in the Promoters/Business owner chair would ever accept the list presented. Especially as a great deal of the names were not connected to speedway or not ex-riders of any description. As I have mentioned in previous posts, he was sent 4 letters to my knowledge from the BV promotion (and have copies of all) but refused to acknowledge or reply to them. Lack of simple respect and courteousness. You cannot negotiate with a party that refuses to come to the table in any walk of life. Even after 7 years of bile and spite thrown out by him, I still believe he should be at Belle Vue despite the bridges he has burned. For his riding achievements. However, he needs to completely alter his perspective and view and take a conciliatory path. I noticed in his book that ''all Mark Lemon needs to do is go to his house and sort it out with him'' which suggests he still believes he is the 'A' aide as they would say in boxing. He still believes he holds the power position and that is simply delusional.

  6. Maybe you should play the ball and not the man! Have you read the article and the tone of it? What you say is 100% logical. What Jim Lawrence and Neil Vatcher are quoted and attributed as saying is not. The SCB are basically telling Kent and Plymouth it's SCB or NORA league. It's pretty unequivocal. The distinguishing aspect they seem to make is NORA training is OK, a NORA league is not. They hide behind bullrubbish rather than saying what we all know as that would be smashed out of any Court of Law. As others have pointed out they want to hide behind an SCB BSPL banner to dictate to what a stadium owner can and can't do. It's a vendetta against Bishop and Widman who they fear.

  10. Holder isn't going there fact. He has zero interest in it and was only going to ride for panthers due to a relationship he has with one of the men in MT's backroom team. I really don't think Ipswich turn up and roll us over providing we get a number 1 in. Basso at home is heat leader standard and he wasn't getting beat many times at the end of last season around the showground

  13. Agree with what you say. What I do not understand is that the majority of teams rent the stadiums from landlords. If the landlord is prepared to also rent the stadium to another party what has it got to do with the BSPL or SCB. Do the authorities currently licence a club to run on a certain track or do they have a say in the agreement between the promoter and the stadium owner as well. Looking at some of the arguments used in the Star why do they not apply in the same way to Flat Track and sidecars who race on these tracks? All very confusing and you have to ask why they just cannot live together and let each get on with entertaining the public.

  15. Taken from the new Nora Speedway League Facebook page today: A BRAND-NEW SPEEDWAY LEAGUE - the first for more than a quarter of a century - is set to launch. And it will welcome competitive team racing back to the Isle of Wight. Three other clubs, Plymouth, Sittingbourne and Cradley Heath will compete in the summer-long Nora Speedway League (NSL). The Isle of Wight will welcome back team racing after they dropped out of the National Development League at the beginning of 2020. Completing the 2023 starters are Plymouth, Sittingbourne and Cradley Heath. The Devon team will be a separate club to the Championship Gladiators and the new NSL Sittingbourne Crusaders will race at Iwade totally unrelated to Kent Royals. The Heathens, who have been without a permanent venue since their Dudley Wood Stadium home was sold for a housing development in 1995, will be a fully funded nomadic side, racing both home and away at each of the other circuits. The Nora Speedway League has already attracted a league sponsor in the form of Nora 92 and will be known as the Nora 92 Speedway League in 2023. The NSL is a major boost to the sport’s grass roots and organisers hope it will be a fertile nursery for Great Britain stars of the future. Club bosses have already agreed rules and regulations and insist the priority is to combine competitive racing with entertainment from the minute fans enter the stadium to their last step out on the way home. There will be a number of ground-breaking innovations that will set the NSL aside from other competitions with the introduction of a revolutionary handicap system that was successfully trialled on the Isle of Wight last year. Founding promoter Barry Bishop said: “The Nora 92 Speedway League will help develop riders even further with a focus on entertainment and value. In addition to this, it will be a league to encourage new riders into the sport by allowing them to be part of the meeting from an early stage while keeping a firm eye on the bigger picture of helping riders go on to great heights in the sport in the UK or abroad. What the league is not about is taking anything from the brilliant work of the BSPL’s National Development League; we are here to complement it, in a way that works for our businesses with the product that we want to put on under the guidance of Nora. The Nora 92 Speedway League is a natural follow on from the two successful Nora speedway seasons staged on the Isle of Wight in 2021 and 22, and at other tracks around the UK. Each team entering the league will consist of six riders who will get five rides per meeting. The league will make use of rules that have been tested over the last two seasons on the island to encourage rider development while focussing on entertainment. These rules which deviate from regular speedway will be included in matchday programs but are expected to include Team Manager selection to handicap opposing team riders and rider selection across all three of the last heats”. Bishop added, “We’ve proven that riders who come to the Island and participate in our meetings have shown considerable improvement over the last two seasons and the Nora 92 Speedway League will help develop riders even further with a focus on entertainment and value. My partner Martin Widman and I are so excited to be able to take the style of the Nora meetings we stage from the Island to the mainland and we are extremely grateful to stadium owners allowing us to rent their venues for this exciting new venture. The fixtures will be released as soon as possible and with most clubs, except the Warriors, running at the weekend we believe it is a brilliant opportunity for riders to get on track with the Nora 92 Speedway league for some fun time speedway. We would all like to thank Nora 92 for becoming the leagues sponsors in our fledgeling season and we are delighted they are on this journey with us. Hopefully, the fans and sponsors will welcome the teams to their hearts and get behind them all. We’ve worked so hard to ensure that we are ready for this and websites and social media will be online soon and, of course, team announcements. Hold on to your hats, this is going to be great. Please keep up to date with everything Nora Speedway League initially via our Facebook page “Nora Speedway League”. Lastly, we’re delighted to be finalising the 2023 agreement with Wightlink also and we will make a statement on this in due course.” NOTE: The last new national league competition to be launched was the British Academy League (now branded the National Development League) in 1994. and this from the Wightlink Warriors website: More Team Speedway For The Warriors In 2023 As Founding Members Of New League The Wightlink Warriors promotion have been beavering away during the off season with plans for another summer season of shale track action at the Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde – and there will be an exciting addition to the weekly fayre as the Warriors are in line to be founder members of the newly formed Nora Speedway League. The league – which has attracted sponsorship from Nora 92 will be known as the Nora 92 Speedway League - will feature the Warriors, Plymouth, Sittingbourne and Cradley. Warriors’ co-owner Barry Bishop said, “We are delighted to participate in the Nora 92 Speedway League which focuses on entertainment and value while looking to develop riders’ futures. It would seem that track time in the UK is becoming a precious commodity and we are only too pleased to allow our riders the maximum track experience that we can. Martin and I are just so excited about this, and we know the league will draw on our experience from the last two seasons to offer a new style of Speedway. We cannot wait to get going. The Nora 92 Speedway League will be complemented by a Knock-Out Cup too, and as well as the cup we hope that other innovative meetings including a Nora Riders Championship will also be possible. 2023 looks to be a bumper year for riders, fans and sponsors as we plan our full programme of action at Smallbrook Stadium including the Island Masters, Uprights, Ladies, MSDL, Flat-Track, Pairs, Handicap and more. This is an important year for us as we take the Warriors team off the Island again and we will soon be announcing team members, managers, fixtures and more.” Tapes up on the 2023 Speedway Season is expected in June.

  16. Thanks for this insight in to this issue. Most interesting. As I said in my post what isn’t clear in the book is precisely what actually went wrong with PC and BV and why by his negative actions he appears not to want to get things fixed when offered? Is this just about his daft free list or was their something else going on?

  17. That's a fair point but his starting point was low. You could argue that he went from 3.36 to 3.00 in the Premiership despite moving to the track with the biggest home advantage. I suspect Poole's strength at home and being in a title winning side explains in part why he increased his Championship figure. I guess the way he exploded onto the scene in 2019 at Sheffield made many people think and expect that he would rapidly progress but it hasn't happened. Same with Rowe after his first season at Somerset. He at least is scoring well in the U24 Polish league but perhaps both riders just aren't as good as we all thought.

  18. It’s been said before but Freddy still has the effects of Long Covid, it’s highly unlikely he will add to his workload I would have thought. If he agrees then fair play to Peterborough for convincing him, I’m sure CVS would welcome the extra income also.

  19. To be quite honest I stopped getting the Star when it became just another propaganda tool of the BSPL and mis quoting promoters and riders and generally just printing the ‘ official line ‘ and not representing the supporters and questioning those in power. If that is what Lawrence and Vatcher are saying ( if accurate ) then it is just another cover up led by we all know who, who does what he wants and not what he preaches. As for a ‘ Vendetta’ ? well I’m not sure about that but the IOW are entitled to do what they wish and now must follow the path they have chosen. I do feel it’s a great shame that they are lost to the NDL but that’s their decision. The SCB/ BSPL ( virtually the same body these days ) cannot dictate to stadium owners as to what they stage but they do have the power to revoke a SCB licence for whatever reason they choose. Basically , as we all know, the sport is in one hell of a mess.

  20. Would need to start a new thread for the more. A 500 pager more. You forgot the missing £600k that was allegedly ringfenced for a future referendum (no laughing at the back) that their executive officer hasn't explained its whereabouts. What's a missing £600k between husband and wife?

  21. Not enough points left for the last rider. Been informed Muff is fixed up (just shocked its at Belle Vue) , Pearson looks odds on, leaving enough space for Hodder and a 3 pointer to complete the worst looking Belle Vue side for a good few years

  22. A little clarification is required. SCB run speedway events such as the three leagues etc. require SCB licensed officials , such as clerk of the course, start Marshall , track curators etc. Nora obviously have their own rules and regulations including sorting the insurance cover. There is / should be no issues for a track to run both events as does happen at a number of tracks now, Kings Lynn, Scunthorpe ( chairman’s track ) and others.

  23. 200 grand two years ago is a fantasy figure even then - but now with the uncertainty surrounding the long term future even 10 grand could be money down the drain.

  24. Given that he started the thread and is a poster on speed (not literally to avoid confusion) I'd guess that he's read all of it. I couldn't make out what's pathetic about it either. Most of social media is pathetic anyway and forums have been speedway's devil incarnate for 25 years or more. Everyone knows what they are going to get don't they? It's often puerile nonsense so surely that's the starting point if you choose to read?

  25. Having read the SCB statement dated 7th February I can see it being possible that both Sittingbourne and Plymouth tell the BSPL that either they are allowed to have the NORA and BSPL racing at the track or the BSPL can get lost and the only racing will be NORA sanctioned. If that happens then the BSPL will have shot themselves in the foot and that will open up the possibility that Mildenhall would jump ship which would practically destroy the NDL. Personally I hope that both leagues exist side by side and that both are successful as that is good for the sport and the more tracks that are successfully running increases interest in the sport. You only have to look back to the 1960s and the effect the Provincial League had on the sport leading to far more tracks opening.

  31. It be very interesting to no what Buster values Pboro speedway at - from what I can see it’s value is minimal at best - no certainty for 2024 that the Showground will be available no planning permission or funds for the alleged new track - at best 2024 the Showground is available second best Panthers run home meetings at KL - so the value is really bugger all

  32. Not sure about that. Get the top heat leader in whether that be Pedersen or someone else then the top end looks absolutely fine. Iversen will be a good second heat leader (much more suited than #1) and Basso is more than capable of improving further to nail down the 3rd heat leader spot. Ben Cook could do well at reserve also which just leaves the middle order. We’ve all got those Ritchie Worrall types in the side, Wolves have his brother, we have Riss, Belle Vue Charles Wright, Sheffield Howarth/Bellego etc etc. all similar average wise who aren’t exciting but are there to do a job.

  34. Sad read in the Speedway Star of SCB attempts to destroy this pre-birth! BSPL hiding behind SCB as seems to be the normal. Lots of excuses about Insurance , Track License issues , Track Staff etc. It all seems to miss the point though that what SCB can't oversee NORA will and NORA have excellent track record in other forms of 2 wheel sport. The fact that SCB seem to think that as Plymouth and Kent are SCB sanctioned tracks they can't allow them to be rented to NORA seems very spurious and restraining Keny / Plymouth opportunity to generate income. Fear it'll all get very messy and delay things which is probably the SCB/BSPL intention. Don't Godfrey and Bates sit on SCB Committee also, so they can't hide!

  42. Too many red flags for me. I mean, giving an interview to the local press recently down in Dorset saying that he hopes Poole return to the top flight because he’d like to ride for them again, whilst also stating that it’s just “not the same” riding for anyone else here when he potentially had a deal in the pipeline to ride for said someone else, isn’t the smartest move is it? Last time he rode for “someone else” he shed a big chunk off his Poole average whilst sitting in the pits with a massive cob on and refusing to ride in tricky conditions. Would he have sat there in Poole kevlars rather than Lynn ones and flatly refused to ride? I bet he wouldn’t!!

  44. I think they have backed themselves into a corner with a friends bid in order to maximise the price. If they accept the previous withdraw why not yours? Just say sorry I received it as a present for my birthday so don’t need another. According to the rules you can retract a bid within the 12 hour deadline. Then just leave it - don’t respond.
