13th July 2017. The evening that part of me fell out of love with speedway, the track was a little heavy and rough but nothing that twelve of the riders on show couldn't handle. Unfortunately Messrs Batchelor and Holder senior sat in the pits when their races came round, treating the paying customers that night with contempt. The whole situation was handled badly by all parties including the Lynn hierarchy (Chapman, Lyon & Allitt) and Lynn of course lost the meeting. Batchelor and Holder were sacked on the eve of the transfer window closing (a petty move but at the same time my sympathy for the riders was zero) and as far as I know those damaged relationships have never been repaired. Having been there that night and leaving the stadium completely dissillusioned I can understand Buster Chapman not wanting Chris Holder anywhere near a club he is involved in but equally you'd have thought six years later they could have sorted their differences enough to work together. That said I think if P'boro end up with Nicki Pedersen they'll be better off.

Evening ScampiSpeedway, I don't normally comment on here but thought it was worth clearing this one up. The meeting will definitely go ahead, all the necessary clearances and checks were carried out long before the match was announced. Seven former Diamonds with a combined average just under this years points limit, hopefully this will give the Bears a strong challenge leading into the season and be an exciting team for the Geordie fans to cheer on. There's two reasons for us not giving this much hype yet, first is we don't want to in anyway overshadow Robbo's meeting the week before. Second is it is far too early, any hype created now wouldn't be sustained. As for financing the meeting, we have six outstanding sponsors from Newcastle making this happen and we can't thank them enough. Hope that clears it up and hope to see you there

Having dual nationality is very different to changing nationality. Has Emil given up his Russian Passport and renounced his Russian Citizenship? or has he just gained a second nationality. That is the question you should be asking.

I can never understand why P&P day is during the week (having to book time off work if wanting to attend....plus kids are at school etc)....wouldn't a Saturday/Sunday be more suitable... It's an opportunity to promote the Club etc.....

Possibly, although Hawkins did say over a month ago it would be in to February before the team was revealed. At least it’s nearly over for both clubs

Where do you think the photos all come from for the first programme of the year? The photos in the track shop? Photos in local papers and Speedway Star? All from press day. Personally I think press day should be limited to the club photographer and media team with the riders

Which makes sense as at weekends the media are occupied with football, rugby etc.

Thanks I have been through all of this year's tweets and carnt find it so no idea lol guess i l keep looking but we were not even looking for a NDL club this year but we're approached by one what didn't come off. Happy for Owen just to keep progressing this year

Hi can you show the tweet please as I do owens social media I know he hopes to one day have a NDL team and was in talks this year with a team who showed interest but not the bullets. The bullets would be great but not yet . He is however staying with berwick academy this year for 2023

For a Newcastle fan, you seem very negative. I would expect most fans would be happy that they can support their team again, even if it is a friendly fixture. It's still a chance to meet up with old friends.

So why query it then? You may not be bothered whether the meeting takes place, but there a fair few from Newcastle (and the surrounding area) who are bothered, as it will be great to see a "Newcastle" side taking to the track once again.
