  1. Oh the irony! A Poole fan extolling the virtues of the spirit of rules

  2. Thurrock councillors have unanimously backed a motion calling for Thurrock council to use the local plan to support the retention of Speedway in Thurrock and identify a new home for Grays Athletic FC.

  3. You put Holder in Leave Holder out In, out, in, out You sort the numbers out . You do the hokey cokey and then start again That's what it's all about

  4. Had to happen. You currently have Russian players competing in the Australian tennis and quite right too. Wilmbledon better start changing their stance as well or they’ll find themselves in all sorts of trouble. Penalizing individuals and stopping them earning a living because a mad man happens to be in power of the country in which they happen to have been born in which they had no control over is absurd. Just don’t promote the Russian flag and crack on. They weren’t rumours in the case of Ipswich trying to sign him though. The only question open to debate is whether they were going to be successful or not.

  5. So do we get a 10 point start for sponsoring the league . It's only fair as compensation for a conflict of interests and laughing at sporting integrity

  6. Who wouldn’t want to ride for the best club in the country at the best track, we should be aiming for a top number 1

  9. Think this criticism of Hayley Bromley is way off the mark, I think she does an excellent job as presenter. Also women in speedway should be encouraged not mocked

  10. Would you now? Well when you come and buy the club you can charge what you want... however at the minute you don't own it... how do you know that the £13 quid isn't the OAP price and the club were thinking of charging every adult 15/16 quid and the 13 was the concession... but because they would like to give the spot not only a chance of breaking even but still encourage enough folk to come through the gate... they decided to charge 13 quid across the board... Get a season ticket for £90 they are a steal... it looks like 9 matches on your season ticket so that's £10:00 a meeting... Honestly what more do ya want... Regards THJ

  11. So Newcastle Diamonds live on, well for one night only! Redcar have organised the tyne tees trophy with a Newcastle "select" Diamonds side on the 24th March I think. A good gesture by Redcar and hopefully a few Diamonds fans may make the trip down the a19. No idea who is riding for Newcastle though...

  13. Something for p0rnhub rather than Speedway imo

  14. Unfortunately a few years ago may have been £10, but can't see that back again now really. Although we had quite an expensive team for NL , Eastbourne charged £13 back in 2018 and before, so can't think it's far out today. I think more teams will stop the OAP concession and that's coming from one who would qualify.

  15. Don’t be daft. But you do get three snake cards which shift Edinburgh to the bottom of the league every time Blobby has a whinge about the cheque book Tigers. Did you really expect ladders cards as well?

  16. Maybe the shock is Holder has been re assessed to 8 as his old average is too old to use

  17. This was an end-of-season individual meeting for which the Bristol management invited riders who had appeared at the track during the season. It was not a meeting for which riders had qualified. It would be better described as 'a championship for northern and midland riders' (plus Roger Wise of Bristol) rather than THE Northern Riders' Championship. The advertisement ahead of the meeting described it as 'a gala night, when 16 "stars" of Northern and National League teams will meet in a Northern Riders Championship'. Afterwards it was reported as consisting of riders whose clubs had been the main opposition of the Bulldogs throughout the season. Of the riders who took part, Jeff Lloyd and Roger Wise had appeared regularly for Bristol during the year. Frank Hodgson, Norman Evans, Jim Boyd, Wilf Plant, Stan Dell, Frank Lawrence and George Craig had also represented the Bulldogs during the 1946 open-licence season.

  22. The council don’t really need to spend any money, just force the developer into making changes to their plans. Simple solution would be to give the speedway stadium and large part of car park back, volunteers and sponsor backing could handle the rest.

  24. Spot on. Very impressed with Glasgow Speedway over the years. All these people who moan/complain about them but I tell you what, if they were no longer there they would be sorely missed. Keep on with your forward thinking and although I am not strictly speaking a Glasgow supporter, I hope they win the league this year. Good luck!

  27. Mike Parker is the only promotor to throw me out of a track. He threw me out of Crayford four times in one evening before a stock car meeting there because of something I had written in a magazine. Trouble was all his staff agreed with me and kept letting me back in. He would have been even more cross if he had known that the staff always let me in for free as I wrote articles for a number of different magazines. He did a lot of good promotion but also damaged both speedway and stox by some of his actions in my opinion.

  28. It amazes me how much stick Gerry and Peter get. In my experience, pretty straightforward, people-focused, invested in the community, great at business. They seem very private but that’s all.

  29. It won't bother Marcin - he only knows about 10 words of English anyway! I don't think any of the side will be lacking motivation to be honest. The biggest question is going to be, how many foam bags are going to need replacing? I expect the racing will be wild.

  31. Thanks for your reply, makes more sense now. Interested to see the 3 track reserves were Jack Mountford, Billy Hole and Mike Beddoe, I got to know them all later, mainly Mike as my dad was one of his mechanics and they kept in touch after he retired. Mike was a big help to me when I started Grasstrack in the 70s.

  32. According to some ITK on here the team is already sorted, but I'm surprised they never tried to get magic personally his form in the gps is very up and down granted but I'd have been pursuing him by maybe saying riding in England could help his gp form couldn't make it any worse.

  34. Democracy always (mostly?) wins Chairman THJ. Ideas were both ok, but simplicity probably was the overiding factor in the vote for most I imagine ? Ps, by the way I'm an OAP and beer under 5% abv why bother? and the only coffee I'd have is is with a nice malt in with it out the hip flask.....

  41. For the sake of 0.08 out and they could have had Bowtell back, that would have made them very very strong. Instead Alfie will have to start in the main body of a fairly poor looking team.

  42. So if it is badly written then that is a loophole which is not in the spirit of the rule. Robert Lambert also said there was a chance he could be back this season but that was never going to happen. It all seemed very wrong to me and I hope it will never happen again.

  44. Those other sports usually have options. However, the British Basketball League is actually owned by the owners of the London team, so you absolutely see it in other sports.

  45. And along comes the professional sniper You would imagine not as the people who run Glasgow speedway seem to care about British Speedway as a whole and not just their own club.

  46. Even the stuff that these Walter Mitty Somerset Superdome builders posted about Michael Jackson was cobblers. They said "you can see we are working on the same ethos as we did for Exeter City Football club who were in financial difficulty over 20 years ago. They were out the League, no crowd, holding boot sales to raise money. One visit from Michael Jackson, who didn’t even sing & a Match against Man Utd, they were back in the league & financially stable for a few more seasons in no time." Actually Michael Jackson did visit Exeter City in June 2002. It was arranged by the infamous bender and well-known spoon-nonce, Uri Geller, who was an Exeter director at the time. (Is Geller behind the Weston-Super-Dome?). The season following Jacko's visit, 2002-03, Exeter City dropped out of the Football League for the first time in 83 years, and took another 5 years to get back. As for " We have done this in the past for Stoke city with Robbie Williams". That sounds equally unlikely since Williams is a lifelong fan and shareholder in Stoke City's local rivals Port Vale.

  47. Isn't that what happened in the past, team members were given an envelope before the meeting with expectations of score inside, this putting undue pressure on the riders !! Maybe a reason your trophy cabinet remains empty, may need a different type of team management??

  48. I'm assuming you mean the USA Vs World event? Unfortunately the timing for this has landed right between our transitioning of websites so this one will be on the old website. We will post direct links to the meeting to make it easier to sign up, all accounts on the old website will be transferred to the new website though so you won't have to sign up again at a later date. As for pricing, this will be a one off fee and won't be included in any of the Season Passes as they are for Premiership and Championship coverage. Drop us an email at support@exstreammedia.co.uk and I will give you access to the old platform once you've bought your new pass if you wish to view last season's footage. We will also be moving all footage to the new website and making it available for all Pass holders.
