So Antonio Lindback named as the first rider for Poole v Belle Vue for Stevie Worrall's testimonial on 29th March to kick off the Wimborne Road 2023 season.3 points

Can't remember where Benji Compton had that crash, but remember the big lad that the bike nearly hit, wasn't letting go of his burger!!! (musta been good) Although not speedway, but if you can, try the Butterfly Cabinet on Heaton Road,,, best burger av ever had.2 points

They've solved the farce of a rider who rides for both teams. Lawson will ride for the Lions and the Pirates will use a guest to cover his absence. Bomber is the favourite to step in.2 points

If I was at home I could tell you exactly how many - about 145 I think - but at present I'm in Buenos Aires, having just returned from Bahia Blanca, my latest addition to the list.2 points

Thanks for that. Yes the real meat burgers were on before 2004, probably 02/03, and the caravan disappeared then as well. I wonder if the stadium owners objected to it for the later seasons. I've always thought Scunny were all right for food, although it would probably something with chips as i am not a connoisseur like you. Jen's cooking stops that.1 point

No. Only really started going again in 2004 and, to be honest, I have always avoided speedway food because it has always been - in my limited experience - overpriced rubbish (my most recent experience has been watching my old pal Youngy desperately chewing a sausage in a roll at Belle Vue - it looked like he was eating firewood), occasionally bordering on not fit for human consumption. It doesn't surprise me that one or two have been ill after eating it. Then again, its not much better at any sports ground. Football is probably worse, and the stuff they serve at rugby league across the north occasionally has to be seen to be believed (I once got into trouble at Halifax RLFC when a mate and I smuggled fish and chips into a reserve game). The exceptions for me were pies at Wigan RLFC (the country's pie capital, if they aren't good there abandon hope), John Anderson's burgers at Berwick (you could tell he was a high quality butcher) and Isle of Wight's food, particularly the sausage casserole and the chicken curry. Home made, absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced too (Barry Bishop once told me that on every occasion they were on the menu both sold out).1 point

That would definitely create a sell out plus a world wide TV deal that the whole of UK speedway could live off for decades!1 point

If so that isnt a bad team ..not so sure away tho ...Especially on the Technical tracks..1 point

I don't know tbh, Lindback was mentioned on the Ipswich thread a few weeks back though. I'm just putting 2 and 2 together though.1 point
-
He'd be a 7.00, I don't think he's at Panthers but I just found it interesting that he's riding in a Testimonial for a rider he doesn't have any kind of connection with. Could be at Ipswich though imo.1 point

What about best promoter/owner?? That one could open a can of worms! lol1 point

Doesn’t really make lot of sense given the lack of fixtures this season, also considering it was the reason that the fixture list was cut back to suit Teams in NDL and Championship.(if that was the real reason alleged)1 point

He's probably the only start marshall that I could name, so he must have done something right1 point

In 50 odd years of watching speedway racing have seen a lot of racing, racing incidents, crashes etc, some deliberate hard riding and some outright dangerous moves. The Ben Howe v Ronnie Pedersen incident was truly shocking, Howe quite deliberately rode Pedersen into the fence, it was utterly blatant with no regard for the safety of Pedersen and Howe made no attempt to race, his sole intention was just to put Pedersen in the fence. I have never seen anything like it since, at least with most other racing incidents and crashes I have witnessed the guilty party wants to win the race, this was different, the race was secondary Howe’s only objective was to ensure Pedersen hit the fence. He couldn’t have made it any clearer.1 point
-
The Pedersen/Doncaster incident was extremely hard riding I agree, but it was still a racing incident. The retaliation by Howe was the most blatant piece of fencing I have ever seen, and certainly nothing to do with racing1 point
-
I was there. Howe was on the inside of Pedersen going into the first bend and didn't bother trying to turn left at all1 point
-
Yes they were completely cancelled so Newcastle never happened in 2022 as far as the stats go. Anyone who didn't ride for another team, such as George Congreve for example are effectively new starters this year. That's how he can go to Mildenhall in the NL on 4.5.1 point

Count your blessings - Peterborough still haven't named most of their team !1 point

If Gasser90 says his source has confirmed Holder is in,signed sealed and delivered then that for me is good business. And he heard that yesterday,so fair play, but at 11-30am yesterday morning Holder was 100% NOT a Panther. Things change by the minute, and this delay of naming riders by both teams proves there is some serious hold up for reasons apart from Work Permit's none of us know. It is quite boring now, and by the time these Septet's get named, some of us would possibly of switched off.1 point

The whole thing sounds like a wind-up by some Walter Mitty on a fantasy trip. there's no way any of this happened. So the council turned down a planning application for a multi-million pound entertainment arena? A planning application that doesn't even exist in the real world? A music festival arena for 25,000 people. That's going to cost £15M - £20M minimum (And I'm probably way under there), and sorry you just don't pop up a 25,000 capacity arena by registering a company at companies house the day before with former junior rider Greg Daniels as sole director, and sole shareholder with one £1 share. But this multi-million pound arena can be funded by one appearance from Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, Simply Red and The Killers..... erm, OK. Then we look at some of the gibberish posted. "Un-vailing"? And what are "bonified" contractors? Is this some kind of fossilisation? "All domains both .co & .com are registered with companies house." No they're not! Companies House register and regulate Limited Companies in England and Wales. (Like the one Greg Daniels has a whole pound invested in). They're nothing to do with any register of internet domain names! Then we're expected to believe that this whole multi-million pound project to bring global music artists to Weston Super Mare has been brought crashing to the ground by a few phone calls with Neil Vatcher and Roscoe? A Speedway club using the facilities isn't some massive money-spinner. It would be bringing in chicken-feed compared to a Rihanna concert. Whether Henry Atkins can have a skid round on his bike isn't going to matter much to Bruce Springstein and Taylor Swift. No way would the lack of speedway derail this project. Sorry, but it's all Billy Bull****1 point

Can imagine he isn't. After all the promise showed, this was going to be a big breakthrough season for him. But we have to remember he is only turning 18 on 30th July and even a part season will be good. If he gets snapped up to also do some UK racing when POl tails off (22nd Aug for the last of the regualr season U24 POL EXL matches), he could still get good experience this coming season. He would not have much racing to do POL/DK in those last months of our UK season. As said many times would love to see him at Poole but we will see.1 point
