The best burgers in speedway were at Newcastle in the early 00's. Track burgers were crap so we bought prime beef direct from a small butcher and served them them in a specially provided caravan beside the office doors. We used to sell out every week with big queues and the track owners were against us selling them and we had to pay a premium for selling from the caravan. We then started to serve hot drinks as well, as the owners had not provided a disabled lift as per the regulations and it meant that disabled fans didn't need to go upstairs for anything. We got loads of praise for the quality of the beef. Perhaps Halifaxtiger can remember them, can you Chris ?.2 points

At least that would stop you seeing anything on here and that would mean we didn't have to suffer the rubbish you type! Result, I am sure I could find a bag of rusty nails for you.2 points

I don’t think it’s thAt bad, Andersen was using the same engine for Plymouth and pboro last year, it clearly worked way better on the smaller tracks, this year he’s got pboro and his polish club which are both big tracks, if he gets his engines firing he will be good for 6 or 7 a meeting at least. I honestly can’t see them making a change to the seven they have signed before the season starts.2 points

They went on record stating that Somerset had permanently closed and that they were not going to discuss it. They surely forfeited any reason to keep a promoters licence.2 points
-
And Wimbledon have been fined multi millions by their world governing body , ranking points were removed from the tournament and potential future expulsion is on the agenda should they continue with the stance in 2023.....2 points

A Polish citizen on a Polish licence..... Should be rather straightforward really so yes definitely red tape by the definition you provided2 points

….and who supposedly is that? Come on, don’t continue the trend of talking in riddles and “I know more than you”2 points

Nicki and Chris have ridden together in Sweden a few seasons ago I believe. So can't see any reason why they wouldn't again and had photo together at Cardiff last year too! Think a few of the legends were in the same hospitality room. A few of them filmed a bit of it and was on their Instagram stories and all seemed happy enough to be together!2 points

Yep the chippies at both Mildenhall and Rye House twenty odd years ago when I went regularly were fantastic. Don't generally do food in speedway stadiums unless I have to though as its usually overpriced garbage.2 points
-
If that's true its quite different to pre season targets but in any case riders need a little bit of pressure if you want to be successful. Not too much but at the same time not ambling around pressure free and unmotivated. Team spirit and togetherness is the key for me though good team managers and captain will cultivate that early on and keep it going even when results aren't great.2 points

Not track food but Kevin Wolbert once told me about how good the burgers at the airport were.2 points

Happy Birthday Dave. Went on many trips with Dave and a few others in the first few years of the British League. Remember one in particular to Edinburgh and Newcastle in 1966. Loved those years going to places like Cradley, Long Eaton and Halifax which all seemed so different for lads from Cowley.1 point

It’s competition at the end of the day. If Emil suddenly rocked up at Peterborough would I be pleased that they had him and that I’d get to see him at Foxhall as an away rider? Not particularly, I’d rather they signed Andersen and Worrall1 point
-
Makes you wonder why he was using the same engine for two completely different tracks…..1 point

I've got a feeling Newman is going to have a good season back at Poole, had a good time last time he was there, never let us down1 point

Battered chips at the Chippy near Monmore Green were the best imo... avent been for a few years...apologies, just realised the topic states Championship food? On that note... I can only confirm that bham food is rubbishe!1 point

Unless the Hancocks still hold a promoters license, in which case nobody can open another track within a 30 mile radius. You’d assume they would lose that license when the track closed but who knows?1 point

Peterborough thread chaps Although maybe this is relevant! Carpy did hint that Panthers were in the mix1 point

https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/20/tennis/natela-dzalamidze-wimbledon-nationality-change-spt-intl/index.html So citing this example from Wimbledon there should be no problem (other than the little matter of the Home Office and visa red tape)1 point

Yeah,,, I just put that as your phone or computer decided to put can't get it done1 point

I still have my Oxford Silver machine poster signed by Greg Hancock on the wall in the office.1 point
-
I can confirm that Posters for Hackney Speedway and rider shown with "TRAXCITEMENT MAKE IT A DATE FRIDAY AT 8 !! " WERE EVERYWHERE !!! Len Silver = Master Promoter - "GO HACKNEY !!" was another slogan used. The man was Hackney Speedway with a passion through and through and lived and breathed the club - He just has to be honoured for his service to Speedway. The Hackney fans loved his excuberance and showmanship and banter, worth the admission alone, with incredible racing and a race track prepared by Len unsurpassed1 point

What power would the Hancock's have to contact Rob Godfrey and oppose them getting a licence? The club has been closed down, has no track and as far as we're aware they have no plans to reopen somewhere else. This new company was planning on using a different name and is 10+ miles away, surely it's irrelevant what the previous Somerset promotion think?1 point

It cant be the team, Tomalin wouldn't sign Andersen and then rave about a way under the limit team before a wheel has been turned imo, He wouldn't make a fool out of himself because he's a smart and successful businessman. Is this Tungate situation a he said, she said situation because no reason has been given for the deal potentially being off The last I heard was that The club and Tungate have been ringing around trying to find a spanner for him over the last couple of months and he'd be on a good money contract (More than he's worth) also left the like on the fixture list post. This is the only team that holds any logic and if I'm wrong then so be it. NKI Holder Basso Tungate Worrall B. Cook Jenkins Andersen (Team Manager)1 point

It won't bother Marcin - he only knows about 10 words of English anyway! I don't think any of the side will be lacking motivation to be honest. The biggest question is going to be, how many foam bags are going to need replacing? I expect the racing will be wild.1 point
-
Frankly that is just nonsense. There are controls and oversights in place to prevent such things.1 point
-
Certainly wouldn’t eat at Poole. Double Cheeseburger £8. RIP off! Go McD’s before if you need food.1 point
-
Isn't that what happened in the past, team members were given an envelope before the meeting with expectations of score inside, this putting undue pressure on the riders !! Maybe a reason your trophy cabinet remains empty, may need a different type of team management??1 point
-
Why would he need special permission as this meeting is in Poland1 point

Who needs coffee at speedway? Unless you are having trouble staying awake!! The best food I have had is from a former track, Rye House. Lakeside wasn't bad either. I am not really helping with the Championship food thing am I? Lol.1 point

With Tate doing Polish U24’s on a Tuesday, I would have thought it unlikely that he’ll be at Plymouth.1 point

So to conclude all 3 have now done 2 full seasons in the championship. Cook is the lowest average of the 3 but is the best of the 3. Makes completely logical sense if you’ve got blue and white specs with scull and crossbones on them I suppose.1 point
-
Thomson and Cook 2 full seasons (2021 and 2022) Brennan rode in 2019 but only raced 8 meetings and was out for the rest of the season due to serious injury. So basically all three have the same Championship experience.1 point
-
Course he is averaged over half a point less than both Brennan & Thomson without bonuses in 2022. Might well turn out better than those two but as things stand he's behind them.1 point
-
Absolutely. Think Ben Cook is probably the second weakest third heat leader in the league after James Wright.1 point
-
...and one wonders why speedway has become expensive for the competitors when it should be about keeping costs down.1 point

I have just heard from my good friend, man in black, Terry Stone, who tells me the first annual get-together at High Beech was in 1992. So I am prepared now to correct the speaker in case he makes a mistake in his speech.1 point
