  1. i was involved at Poole last season, found everyone at the club really welcoming and friendly, and seeing how things were done there i can see why they're winners

  2. Speedway would be a 'duller' sport without Poole IMO.... Poole set the bar and 'we' (other clubs) have to try and aspire to it.... It's a beautiful part of the country too. I admire their winning mentality.... We all want to beat Poole ...it's healthy competition IMO!

  3. If only he'd had British grandparents last year he could have come in on a 2 point average like Connor Bailey

  5. Sure, a part of it is definitely envy. Who wouldn't want to win the trophies that Poole have over the last 20 years or so? But a big part of it is also the way the club and the fans conduct themselves. There are plenty of examples of successful teams in sports that weren't universally hated because they (and their fans) acted with respect. (I'm not saying every Poole fan is like this, there are some good eggs on here - you know who you are)

  6. But why are they not doing the same for every other rider then? Just these three? Is it about the war or isn’t it? If they’re continuing to pontificate about the war in the Ukraine then they shouldn’t be allowing them to ride in Poland either should they? This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

  7. Hopefully now these people that think they are in the know about Emil coming over here can move on and start some other rumour.

  10. The Northern Junior League will once again run in 2023 ( 14 continuous years ? ) and the good news is that both Workington and Glasgow will be re-entering make it a six team league once again. Teams competing ; Glasgow Armadale West Lothian ( based at Edinburgh ) Workington Berwick Redcar There will be no ‘ Teesside ‘ team this year due to lack of 125cc riders. The NJL AGM has decided that due to a lack of new riders being available riders from the NDL with an average of 5 or below will be allowed to compete in the NJL as long as their 500 partner is not an NDL declared rider , or a rider with an average of 3 or below in the NDL can be used with a non NDL rider. This is aimed at giving current NDL riders extra track time . Squads will be named before the season commences.

  13. Don't think it's very good at all, but there may be at least some entertaining, close home meetings (maybe not against Glasgow, Poole or Redcar lol) there are some real triers in the team, Alfie Bowtell, James Wright and Stefan Nielsen. Having said all of that, I think the team looks awful overall and I really don't understand why there's so much hype behind James Pearson either, aye he's young and decent, but Darcy Ward comparisons are insulting to Darcy imo, he was SO much better Oh and no way will Nick keep his 10 point average lol

  20. I was at that meeting, can remember Wilkie doing just that, the Lynn fans in the stand were all jeering him but he'd made his mind up about having his say, as you say, typical Wilkie. I think it was a bank holiday lunch time meeting with a return at Hyde Rd later, which meant a fair old dash back.

  21. Been stated by you many times, don't remember many others stating the league doesn't matter and nobody cares.

  22. Exactly this... they can then say well we don't want to sign you anymore so go ride for Ipswich.... i highly doubt Emil would do that!! Doesn't matter who is involved Torun don't have to put him in the team!! Why should they not be allowed to protect there asset? There not banning him from riding over here there saying if you do we wont select you so its your choice...

  23. Probably similar crowd levels, but paying less out at championship level, so the fords make more money??

  24. Poole are disliked through envy. The big green eyed monster. Anyone but Poole. Heard it virtually every season for the last 20 years.

  27. The Mildenhall DJS Fen Tigers, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery, are pleased to anounce their fifth signing for the 2023 season. It's a warm welcome back for 2019 Fen Tiger ARRAN BUTCHER. He also signed for the Fen Tigers for 2021 but a pre season injury saw him unfortunately miss out. 22 year old Arran spent the 2022 season at Oxford in the National Development League putting 1.36 on his average and we feel confident that Arran can increase his average again back at Mildenhall. Arran has made it quite clear he sees this as a big season & that speedway is his main priority. He will start the season in one of the reserve berths but is looking to push for a place in the main body of the team. Arran joins us on a 4.36 average.

  29. You are misreading my post or I've worded it wrongly. Chris Holder said he will only ride for Poole if/when they are in the Premiership! Riding for anyone else in the meantime is fine. You never know if it is to be Poole in Premiership in 2024, - and that is by no means certain - he may use this year to lower his average??

  30. Flying back to England Sunday morning, if I listened to noddy properly. awesome meeting tonight at DW invitational. Just getting back to watty’s house. He was kind enough to let me drink my share as I was helping his son tonight as he was on spanners for woofy. Great meeting, sprintcars car tomorrow night in Brisbane..

  33. Trouble is it was in a reply to two posts really. I started it off by saying if Poole went Prem in 2024 he'd be first on teamsheet and Hodgy said about the Champ in 2024. Skidder was just saying that he would only ride for Poole if we were in the Prem not Champ, not that he wouldn't ride for anyone else in the Prem. That is how I understood it anyway. Obviously I could be wrong!

  34. Excellent read in the Speedway Star and wish everyone there the very best of luck. Most encouraging too to read that they will try to schedule when possible on Sundays when there HASN'T been Stocks the night before. That could mean a massive improvement to the Track.

  37. PC mentions in his book the occasion that Alan Wilkinson took issue over a referee's decision at King's Lynn after an incident with Ian Turner and stormed up the ladder (after first slipping up to the cheers of the crowd!) to the ref's box to have it out with him! Got that episode on DVD...a harsh exclusion in my opinion. Typical "Wilkie" robust pass but not worthy of being thrown out of the race.

  38. I only know the ages of some of the riders in the 1991 meeting... Lamb was 24, Little 18, McLusky 26, McKinna 30, Grieves 16, Coleman 21, McDonald 16 The 1986 riders were all juniors, although Rizzo made a few appearances for Berwick & Edinburgh in the 80s but with limited success - as far as I know all five were Scottish.

  39. Yes but Poole always pay their riders on time so money no object. Plymouth have to make a one of trip to Glasgow aswell and we are further away than Poole are,so stop whinging.

  40. I'm sure the Club were on the knife edge financially, but thanks to the brilliant support, both physical and financial in the last couple of weeks from supporters, its swung the balance before we lose another Club. I for one will be making every effort to get to as many meetings there this year and I'm sure the Management have taken on board the many negative comments about the length of time meetings take etc and will be making every effort to rectify that. Lets all get behind the Club, and if you haven't been to West Row for a while, then dust down those programme boards and enjoy a Sunday afternoon watching the sport we all love.

  43. Torun can then release Emil for breach of contract. Torun have Matej Zagar on a Warsaw contract so they won't need to scramble around to find a replacement.

  45. So this is again all about the dictatorship of the Poles and ceases to be about the stance against the war. If they were continuing to make a stand against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and banned all Russians from riding anywhere including Poland then fair enough. But effectively banning them from riding anywhere but allowing them to ride in their own league again is a complete nonsense.

  48. 20 is too many . Matches from July last year will still be in Championship averages at end of next season. I'd rather have 16 for both leagues than different rules for Prem and Champ.

  49. Not sure it was a ringer, Lambert was on an earned average replacing an injured rider. The doubt is whether the change should have been allowed at that stage but for the sake of the final as a spectacle I'm glad it was.
