Theyre out , but the full extent of not having the two home and away set up.is now evident6 points

How is failing to make former favourites welcome logical or sound business practice? On the contrary. It's obvious that that vast majority of ex-riders wouldn't pay to get in anyway, so the promoters would lose nothing financially. But then consider the potential positives from their presence on race night . . . As Steve has previously tried to explain, there is anecdotal evidence that a number of supporters, both existing and past, enjoy meeting up with old faces who remind them of their younger days and a better time for speedway. Let's face it, too many speedway meetings drag on so long these days that a friendly chat with an ex-rider will often be the highlight of that fan's night. If he or she leaves the stadium feeling good, or at least believing that their time and money showed some tangible reward, then they are more likely to return. Think of the goodwill factor, too. Does it do any speedway promoter good to make ex-riders even slightly unwelcome or made to feel like parasites? If a track's legends and former favourites help spread the word about their local former track it can possibly lead to newer fans coming along - and help to keep some who are in despair and thinking of abandoning the sport. Imagine the fan's thought process: "I can't really be bothered go to (insert track name) tonight, its cold and damp, I'll be waiting around for ages between heats, fuel and admission costs have gone up . . . but, then again, I KNOW I'll enjoy meeting and speaking to my old heroes, so, sod it, I'll go." Whether you agree with PC's stance on passes or not (he and I don't agree on everything he has written about every subject in the book), it doesn't do Belle Vue or any other track any good to have this perpetual public debate. It's a needless negative for the best racetrack in the UK where, by general consensus, average crowd figures for domestic meetings were poor last season in relation to the success achieved by the Aces. I'm not suggesting that letting 20 ex-riders into the NSS every home meeting will make much difference to the paying attendance, but it certainly won't do any harm. Some promoters 'get it' (Berwick gave Craig Pendlebury a life-long stadium pass even though he rode so little for them) but they all need to dig their heads out of the sand on this and many other issues. British speedway needs all the goodwill it can possible muster. It should look at the bigger picture.4 points

Don't be silly...that's called "promoting"....that's a word I would doubt ever appears in anything coming out of Rugby.4 points

Usually, there are more pages on the Poole thread than any other but, until Kyle Newman was announced, Glasgow were “winning” that battle. But thanks to the usual suspects, particularly HGould, Poole have romped ahead and are currently 125-122. So the Poole promotion and it’s supporters should give a big clap to HGould for helping to promote the Pirates. It seems everyone’s a Pirate at heart…..or wish they were!4 points

Lol Poole fan complaining about another club being discussed on their thread. Very definition of irony right there4 points

We are here again the clueless idiot from Birmingham strikes again, it's just a pity he as not got a idea what's he his talking about the same as what he says about the Brummies! As he keeps saying he gets his info from a insider if true then they are both way off the mark.4 points

Find out more about our new promoter of the Comets, Andrew Bain. He recently spoke with Cumbria Crack and revealed all about his love for speedway & bikes, how progress is continuing at Northside and how the return of the Comets came about… A TALK WITH ANDREW BAIN: https://workingtoncomets.com/andrew-bain/?fbclid=IwAR0KCIjEqiVGGkh6al6mseFANfWc4rUERnWsMPwF9j4r3iqQzGL7_7HhnaE3 points

Think the dates of 15 march to 31 october should be cast aside ĺate april or 1st may bank holiday to 30 sep long enough,or should be !3 points

Back in the real world.... The only bully is you considering you are the one threatening violence. What a sad person you are. Don't like Poole or the fans, stay off the thread! No one is forcing you to be on here!3 points

He's also probably calling people bullies because he's been called 'a clueless idiot' and '5-year-old' in the space of a few posts. It's a forum, he's allowed to have a different opinion without having to be insulted.3 points

Only started reading the book that covers Peters early life and he certainly packed a lot into his childhood and youth, also how close he was with other guys from an early age who would go on to race Speedway, Chris and Dave Morton, Dave Trownson, Andy Reid (or am I mixing up with another Andy Reid) and later Graham Drury.3 points

Quick glance at Glasgow fixtures no meeting between 14th April and 5th May? Assume similar at time be reflected in other teams. With such a reduced season why not just have a set night of say Friday and you have one home a fortnight. Looks better than what I'm seeing3 points

Totally agree, there are so many gaps in the fixtures that some fans will get out of the habit of coming.3 points

Fingers crossed not just for us, but the league in general. I’m sure everybody would like to see him at their track. Without a doubt would add to the gate receipts everywhere.3 points

The FIM are involved. They are fighting it. Emil wants Ipswich. Ipswich want Emil. There is still 2 month to fight this. It’s not over yet3 points

Glasgow and Edinburgh ride on the same night. Friday is our race night. And do you really think Glasgow have any say over the Edinburgh promoter who does the fixtures. Usual BS we've come to expect2 points

In these happy days, the Wasps would bring over 250 travelling fans north! A bit different to Poole's current small band of camp-followers, and certainly not worth switching off a regular Friday night at either Ashfield or Armadale for......2 points

I noticed a few gaps in Bears home matches, had same in 2022. Am waiting for the NDL fixtures before booking travel for my holidays to see if I can fit in some meetings while I am over that side of the country2 points

I’d argue he HAS shown it. He’s been a victim of the hype that surrounded him early doors that makes people think he’s flopped when that’s not the case. Honestly when I see the likes of Lee Complin and Adam Roynon (probably) getting team places whilst Kemp at 20 years old being discarded and left on the shelf makes my heart sink to be honest.2 points

Yes why can't Glasgow and Edinburgh bow to the mighty pirates and they can have a fixture list tailor made to suit them, possibly with a bit of flexibility the rest of the league could let Poole pick their own fixture list and the rest of us fit in around it. Maybe the position on the mc has been abused to often hence the 40pt limit and one or two other things that are coming to light that is not to the liking of the not so special one2 points

Just need to sort out the league form! Second goal was a good one though Yes, he needs to just admit when he is wrong. I mean he didn't even get the person right who had the issue with ZK to begin with.2 points

Funny isn't it that only issues are with people from one club! Never had an issue with anyone on here - agree or disagree - treat and treated with respect. Then one day challenged something about Poole Then it starts drip drip drip, the name calling, the false accusations , the bullying, the attacks. Some people lie down and curl up and run away, just like the bullies want. Some of us stand up and give a bit back, Guess what - the Bullies don't like it. Be interesting to meet some of you bullies one day and have a frank discussion. See how brave you are then. I'll bring a few of my Front Row Vets XV mates with me. We can have a nice chat and a pint or 10.2 points

So let me get this right. Between 11th April and 7th June, Poole are scheduled to race in 7 meetings...................and 6 of them are against Plymouth. Good to see the fixture planners understand "the entertainment business" You got to feel a bit let down by that kind of planning2 points

I can see both sides of this. Meeting Dave Mullett at Swingfield grasstrack was one of my 2022 season highlights (and Dave Stallworthy did interviews with Dave, Gordon Kennett and Jamie Luckhurst to keep the track breaks interesting). On the other Chris Sully is at Leicester every week. Good to see him enjoying his speedway, but I don't think his presence adds to the meeting.2 points

So why am I a troll? because I speak the truth unlike you? I've probably forgot more about the ins and out of speedway than you will ever know2 points
-
You see you're wrong again. He didn't have any 'bust up with Danny Boy' as you put it. MF fell out with him over reneging with contract issues plus there were issues with him within the team. As I said previously maybe reputations preceed him? It's not always about on track performance! Bad apples etc!!!! You should know all about that being a Brummie fan apparently.2 points

Little Holder always been a complete knob end. Thinks he’s better than he is. Big brother also now a very angry man and past it. Sad as used to like them both. Just to add to the Oz egos, Tungate also always been a miserable, moaning twit. Wouldn’t want any of them at Peterborough. Come over here and think they own the place.2 points

And therein lies the problem with diluting the points limit again. Improve your average lose your place it is just a ridiculous scenario, what other sport penalises for improvement.2 points
-
Why? Non-speedway fans don't even know the sport, let alone the "top" riders - I would have thought that if there's lots of marketing for Sayfutdinov, it would generate more protests than additional support.1 point

It's already been announced as an Interleague Challenge with Poole able to strengthen and/or Leicester weakened. Dates are virtually agreed according to Speedy Star this week.1 point

I'd include that under incompetent promotion.. The BMR era is firmly over. It not only saw the Rockets rightly thrown out of the league but their incompetence is being used to prove that the sport is unviable there. The damage may not just be temporary. Sadly we don't gave a .Northside to escape to. Well done on all you have achieved. I look forward to being part of the set up that brings the Rockets back to Workington, hopefully in '24. Regards, Rob. Bear in mind we have links with the Courtney family.......1 point

Riders signed with Polish league 1 and 2 are now allowed to ride for 3 other teams from 2 other previously. Translated article From the 2023 season, the Main Speedway Sport Commission will allow riders of the 1st Speedway League and the 2nd Speedway League to sign contracts not in two, but in three additional leagues. This means that each speedway rider will be able to race in a maximum of four different clubs. Why such a change? Zbigniew Fiałkowski, vice-chairman of GKSŻ, mentions two reasons. - This is a nod to speedway riders, but I want to make it clear that we do not force anyone to do anything. No player has to sign four contracts. We only give them this opportunity, and it's up to them whether they decide to use it - he emphasizes. The second issue is equally important, because it directly concerns the course of the games and the planning of matches in the 2023 season. - Due to the fact that we have expanded the number of leagues in which players can compete, we will gain a free Thursday for the Polish league. This will allow us to run the games even more efficiently this year - emphasizes Fiałkowski. The vice-chairman also explains how the “free Thursday” rule for the Polish league will work in practice. – If, for example, the match of the 1st Speedway League planned for Sunday does not take place, we will be able to postpone it, but not to the next Thursday, but to the next one. Of course, we must officially inform about this so that no one in foreign leagues is planning competitions at that time. All these changes are the result of an agreement that we managed to work out with representatives of other countries. In fact, everyone will benefit from it – sums up Fiałkowski.1 point
