They should be made to build the track and stadium at the Abbey site as that is the stipulation legally bound as part of the planning permission.. It doesnt even matter if it is viable or not to run Speedway there, as that is irrelevant as part of any planning permission requirements... And surely a track "up to 45 mins away" has to have less chance of being "viable" than a brand new one on the very site where Speedway has ran for decades? Absolutely no guarantee that this track "somewhere else" will be viable so what is there to lose by "staying put"?.. Surely someone is asking these questions within some kind of organised fans' pressure group?5 points

No thanks. The World Cup should be the best available rider's a country can offer. Scrap all ideas of forcing the including youth.3 points

Simply because it's his average. The advantage to Brennan & Belle Vue is already given with ¼ off his average. Without that advantage Belle Vue wouldn't have been able to put that team together or Brennan would have missed out completely. With that reduction, starting at reserve is also a 2nd advantage with a rider that is clearly at 2nd string level comfortably.3 points

I doubt he will build a track/stadium within 45m of Swindon, more likely he will try to appeal the planning condition that says the stadium must be built. In 5, 10, 15 years down the line he will claim that speedway is no longer a viable sport in or around Swindon and therefore there is no longer a need for a speedway stadium. Whether the council will have much fight in them in 5, 10, 15 years time, I have my doubts. Terry Russel has taken the money(just like he took loads of money out the sport for brokering a tv deal), he has been lying for a long time and is just as bigger a crook as Osbourne.2 points

It’s their fault for wanting a 2 or 3 point non-Brit on a 4. I can’t see how the 25% reduction can be used as a genuine MA. Hopefully, the BSPA will clarify the situation … without careful rewording of the Regs, they’re in danger of creating yet more ambiguity.2 points

Was only going to sign up for one package but got some money off the mother in law for Xmas so signed up for both. Unsure what to do about Discovery+ next year , bit bored with the GPS and the friendly rivalry between the GP riders2 points

JP had very little 500cc experience and is definitely one for the future. Hell definitely need more core strength and its a shame he doesn't appear to qualify for NDL as that would have boosted his development. He seems emotionally mature though which will serve him well and his winter results have shown real progress in his own environment. If he and Brummies persevere no reason why he can't hit 4 plus in 23 and then improve again. Let's not forget he arrived as a 16 year old not in his early 20s like some he's been unfairly compared with.2 points

What about a team that has a 2 or 3 point foreigner in the team on a 4.00 average, but has a stronger Brit on a 3.75 average at reserve? Is that not much the same?2 points

Only thing is it’s a quite Journey up to Cumbria and to even pay for expenses would be too much I would have thought at this stage of the project.2 points

Aren't all autobiographies by definition a one-sided take. But, as I mentioned previously, much of what PC has written about respective BV managements is supported in print by George Carswell, who was financially involved under all regimes from John Perrin to David Gordon/Chris Morton. Believe me, PC didn't decide to write his story for money. If so, he would have done it many years ago, when speedway had a far bigger following and more fans from his peak racing era were still around. I accept your view that riders know the risks when they begin and that they go into it hoping to earn a living. And PC did very well out of speedway - no doubt - as did the sport out of him. But, come on, some goodwill from all tracks towards their past employees wouldn't go amiss - and wouldn't cost them a penny. To make ex-riders pay (or ask) to get in is, of course, not a crime and it's every promoter's right to dictate his own policy. But it's churlish, mean-spirited and short-sighted when tracks need all the good PR they can muster in these financially ominous times.2 points

Sorry Tony, I can't buy that. Unless we have the exact number and names between Wee Eck's 180 and your "tiny handful" it's pure conjecture. I also can't go with the notion of riders "putting their neck on the line". I have admiration for anyone who gets their head above the parapet and goes for it in life, particularly if that is something dangerous like speedway or stepping into the boxing ring. But let's not pretend they are risking their lives for some greater noble cause and sacrifice. These are not volunteers marching off to war. They are sports people in it primarily for selfish reasons, personal glory and remuneration. Without those, they wouldn't be doing it. In PC's case, often very well remunerated, squeezing out as much as he could get from BV in his latter seasons. And fair play to him too...it's a short and dangerous career. What makes me uncomfortable about this book is that it is a one sided take from someone who has had a brain injury. This has had an effect and as such, his interpretations are questionable at least. And, to be really, really honest, it's only been published because there is a few quid in it. We can't take it as some sort of historical document without the views of all other parties involved be they past and current BV management. You can't have your cake and eat it. I was a big fan of PC and I've enjoyed lots of your output over the years. But let's say this as it is.2 points

Posted this in the wrong topic due to fat finger small touchscreen and being in the pub syndrome id love to know what happened The ZK and Poo Pirates gossip will be everlasting unless all the fans who say they know what happened say what happened to cause his hasty transfer along the coast As for those who put him down because of his age, remember John Louis didn't take up speedway until his late 20s and did far more in his career than plenty of youngsters who followed within a far bigger pool of riders. Before anyone jumps on the bandwagon of slagging me off for comparing different era's. I know the sport is generally a young man's game.1 point

Maybe Osbourne knows he has to build a track, so why not build one miles out of town, that will tick all the boxes! Then he has the present site to build more houses & pocket more ££££'s. Meanwhile making sure Osbourne PLC. hold the freehold to the new site as another longer term money earner. I'm sure "Ba____ds" like Osbourne are 2 or 3 steps ahead of the rest of us including the local council!1 point

So hardly lots of things then?! As if I was the only one surprised by his return including certain promoters.................!!1 point

Garry May knows how to build a winning team as does middlo and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s between Poole and Plymouth with Redcar as the dark horses.1 point

I would, he looks to have a good future if putting nigh on 3 points on his starting average is anything to go by.1 point

Glasgow look quite good but a few sides that could be up there, Plymouths with one rider left could be the main challengers, they have a very good balance and if Barker hits the ground running, him and Starke will be a strong engine room, then it’s down to their final signing and how Dan reacts to his layoff, if they have a great number six changing places with Dan or maybe Starke if he starts slow, they will have an ace up their sleeve all season. Any team with. Solid top four and one flying reserve will always do exceptionally well. Only team that looks weak to me is Birmingham.1 point

Well Basso is one of the best up and coming riders in speedway for me, how far he goes is down to him1 point

Looks like the Emil rumour is gaining speed on the Ipswich page. If we can get niki P then what a league we will Have in the UK next season ! The teams all look just as strong as each other. And with the BSN pass showing us 19 meetings we are in for a treat I’d say !1 point

That wouldn't just be a travesty for Workington. Its in the interests of the whole of UK speedway to see Workington, or any other team making a comeback, succeed especially when they have a track that has had a lot of work put into.1 point

The NDL of around 4 years ago was for me "the perfect level" for so many teams who struggled at a higher level to generate enough income to pay the riders of top league standard who compete in Div 2, eg Newcastle, Birmingham, Eastbourne, and even Worky themselves.. Used to love watching the Colts for a tenner and free for my U18 lad.. (Bargain)... Maybe if the NDL of four years ago was still in existence so would a few more teams? If it is a stepping stone to a higher league then great, but if it doesnt materialise and Worky make money, and develop talent they can then sell on by riding in the NDL for ever more, then it will never be a bad thing... Good luck to them and I look forward to going next season, followed by a "quiet night" in the town....1 point

I don't know where the talk of Sayfutdinov or Laguta riding in Britain is coming from, but I thought it was clear they can race in Poland as they have Polish passports, but cannot ride in the GPs or in any other countries GB / SWE etc.1 point

No problems marra, just Jenga has form of winding up people the wrong way, no offence to you Jenga either1 point

I think that access could have been the problem - I remember trying to get away from the stadium used to be chaos after the athletics - i used to ride a motorbike in those days and it was difficult getting out on that. Seemed to remember they used a one way traffic flow so it was into the park one way and out another. Not a impossible task to fix though you'd think1 point
