And not so vocal when they've done it themselves I don't really have a problem with it, riders are self employed tradesmen only ever under contract for eight months at a time, if they can get themselves sorted for the next year nice and early then good for them.4 points

A change of track will help him improve for sure and think the brothers will spanner for each other durning the season along with their father so plenty help around them3 points

That's the problem; they make things too complicated, not all the options are published, and nobody knows what's going on.3 points

My husband attended this meeting and was very emotional when he passed the news to me. I then became 3 times as emotional as him. Whatever the outcome well done to all those involved in a possible return. I'm cock-a-hoop for a positive result and will transition from an armchair supporter of speedway at to my local club.3 points

And why hasnt someone else been given the chance to run the sport in the brand new facility that still needs to be built to comply with the building permission for the houses.. ?3 points

Think the time was right for him to move on and I am sure he will leave with thanks as he has been an excellent servant to the club. At this stage a move back to his parent club just might reignite his form.2 points

Any truth in the rumour that you may seek to swap Zach Cook for Richard Lawson and then loan Lawson to Glasgow?2 points

You cannot afford to run the Premiership at too much more of a level than it is now ran at I would suspect... Therefore, running the 2nd Division (also the middle tier), at a lower level is the obvious way forward... It gives clear demarcation between leagues first and foremost, which is important in selling "the brand".. And It provides a more realistic bridge between the NDL and the top league, which should benefit younger riders, and also maybe attract more teams up from the NDL into it, (Mildenhall, Kent, Workington?).. And if some more "top riders" come over, and ride in the top tier, that will take spaces of current DU's, so the 2nd tier will have plenty of "decent talent" still within it.. Especially given seven Leicester riders will also be available... It could mean that, for once, supply will exceed demand in the 2nd Divsion, which can only be good for cost control as well as having spare riders to cover injuries rather than using guests... Which can only be a great thing for the sport..2 points

Not sure I'd agree with that. Joe's average at Leicester was 5.62 (6.64), while away from home he was 1.94 (2.71). So scoring well at Scunny isn't what's needed to up his average imo. Also depends if he rides at 6 or 7, Scunny always put their strongest reserve at 7, Joe at 6 may only meet a reserve in one or two races, so even if the league has weaker number 6s he wouldn't meet them often!2 points

Totally agree, love watching riders for first time never knowing what going to get. But for every Josh G we had a Michael penfold. For every Nick Morris there was a Peter juul. We'll see but I'd take a chance our promotion looking at vissing and Starkey over any untried foreigners on a 52 points

Fair play to Osbourne Clark a ex landlord with no interest in Speedway is Helping us put a new stadium together .. what a thoroughly nice chap2 points
-
This would be laughable if it wasn't so sad... The front of messrs Russell and Osborne seems to have no limits. Have to laugh that the rationale is the lack of multi-use options at Blunsdon. Err...are you not supposed to be building a new stadium? Maybe, just maybe, adjust the plans to accommodate those options? Full of rubbishe...2 points

I wouldn't believe a word Terry Russell says, he's probably sunning himself in the Caribbean burning his way through the Gaming International bung.2 points

The danger is of course, that Brandon Estates will now sit tight for perhaps 20 years or more, knowing that it will not decrease in value. I'm as pleased as everyone else at the outcome of today's planning meeting and really hope that Brandon Estates get the message that they and their proposals are not wanted.2 points
-
Brandon Estates will appeal. Appeals are dealt with by Planning Inspectorate (professional planners - no democratic involvement). Meanwhile they'll submit another application (the exact nature of it will depend on the precise terms of the reasons for refusal, which they will (pretend to) address.). Usually with a contentious site the developer will keep plodding away with appeals and new/revised applications for 5 years or more. If council don't look like buckling they'll probably offer some form of planning gain as a carrot.2 points

I think the "E-Ticket only" also helped to keep people away. My wife, son, two grandchildren and myself would have gone if we were allowed to print out tickets as we have been able to in the past. The no printout email ticket policy prevents oldies (some may say dinosaurs) like me who do not have, and do not want a modern phone, at up to date prices, which many of us cannot afford, are being discriminated against, in this modern technical world.2 points

Who would you say these riders are that ‘shouldn’t be performing in the championship’? The problem is how far the premiership has fallen the calibre of rider in the Championship now is no better than it was 10/15/20 years ago. The main difference then was the top level had world stars in every lineup. If there needs to be a clear line between the two divisions then why is it the championship that needs weakened rather than the premiership strengthened? Why don’t they raise the limit of the Prem to say something like 50 then teams that want to can build super strength teams with multiple gp stars that would show the difference. Constantly watering down the middle tier the most varied and competitive division in the country does no one any favours.1 point

Anyone imagining that there will be a reduction in admission prices is living in a dream world. Clearly Championship promoters are looking to cut costs so they are hardly likely to give away what they might save. I fully agree with the poster who suggested that there are numerous rider riding in the Championship who shouldn't be performing at this level at all, and it is these who are pushing up the costs so a way has to be found to exclude them. Some supporters won't like it, but it has to be done. Allowing doubling-up has been the most damaging decision that the BSPL have made, but we are lumbered with it now, and the only hope is that it can eventually become more limited - but to be honest, I wouldn't bank on this happening.1 point

Should have happened about 4 years ago really, so although I agree with what you've said, will it happen now? I was lucky to see the NL with Eastie between 2015/18, and once you got it in your head we'd dropped from the old proper Elite league the racing was really good. Saw Adam Ellis, Ellis Perks, Tom Brennen etc, all coming up through, even a young Dan Bewley once, what happened to him I wonder... May have been lucky but a league level slightly higher than that level I'm sure would eventually work. Just need to convince the clubs and diehards.1 point

Also helps I think if you get recommendations from riders. Poole had Klindt and Freddie Jakobsen recommending Basso. And there are a few people in Aussie letting Matt know about any Aussies coming through to consider. So if you go for untried riders definitely need some spies out!1 point

From that www.swindonmotorsports.co.uk comedy site:- "Clarke Osborne Clarke is Chairman of Gaming International the owners of the Swindon Stadium at Abbeymeads. Not known by many, Clarke has a long history in Speedway and motorsport, including the creation and operation of the most successful Speedway venue of the modern era in Bristol. " At first I thought they'd mistyped "Bristol" for "Manchester", but Clarke Osborne has nothing to do with that. So I can only assume I have missed the Bristol Superdome. Can anyone tell me where it is?1 point

This is about as accurate as your “Marcin was not and will not come back” statement. Richie lawson is the highest performing out of the 3 heat leaders at Poole.1 point

I must admit that after reading yesterday's story in the Telegraph "Coventry Stadium to be transformed into housing estate" I was thoroughly depressed, as it seemed to be slanted towards certain success for Brandon Estates with only minor reference to the save it campaign. Although I never have the chance to get down there these days, it was so much part of my growing years and youth right up until work took me away from the area in my early twenties. One of my best mates at the time lived next door to the stadium so that even in the off season I was around the stadium constantly. It was part of my life and education, it's apparently in my DNA. I could still take you to the exact spot, where we used to boo and cheer on the back straight in my school days, and to every inch of the stadium, and offices and pits. So it's a mega thank you from me to SCS &S campaigners for their incredible work to keep the place and hopes alive. Fabulous to see such a turnout at the council offices yesterday, and thanks to Rugby councillors for their diligent appraisal of the application. I'm very proud of the campaign to fight for Brandon !!!1 point

The strongest side I could write down is Zmarzlik, Lambert, Lindgren, Janowski, Madsen, Bewley & Dudek. Seems about as likely in positions 3-6.1 point

Agree years ago it was champ riders at reserve in prem or there abouts not heatleaders in both, there was a clear difference between the leagues back then1 point

Tbh I don't understand all the hate for Lambert, yeah he's never going to be a world beater and he's not the greatest rider ever to grace the sport, but I'd happily have him in my team as a number 2, always a trier and a solid, experienced rider, particularly at scunthorpe and other similarly sized tracks. I quite liked him at Newcastle even though it didn't really work out for him. He's nowhere near one of my top choices don't get me wrong, but he's not so bad that you'd have to be daft to sign him surely?? And although I don't really know him personally he seems like a really chilled nice guy1 point

Having spoken on the subject to some of the members of the Save Coventry Stadium group, I can appreciate that they are fully on top of things so I think it best not to complicate things for them by e-mailing individual councillors. The group have done a great job so far, and will continue to do so, so the campaign is by no means over just yet.1 point
