It is their 'home' leg. So no problem with them practicing on it.7 points

Last chance should have been late September ...6 points

Surely they were facts? Not sure facts can be caustic and derogatory.... You must think that this is good for the sport I presume, given your unwavering support for those who plan in such things..? Coaches cancelled so local businesses lose out.... Fans maybe have booked hotels to attend who now have to cancel, hopefully getting a refund... One team now cannot have any home advantage in a two leg final of a sport where home advantage is fundamental... One team now doesn't get the "bumper payday" a final brings, which often offsets losses received through the year.. Some Leicester fans will have attended every home meeting this season, loyally supporting a sport who needs absolutely everyone it can find to attend, yet will now miss out on the very final that they have paid out hundreds of pounds to watch the qualifying process of... And. As has been said from even Poole's most loyal follower, getting to East Anglia is never easy at the best of times but now needs to be done on a Friday which is traditionally the busiest time of the week for the road network... Also. Several Poole fans (again passionate followers of their team and sport), have also suggested that it is now a "farce"... Now.You may say such negative comments from these loyal followers of the sport, about what should have been the flagship competition, are "caustic and derogatory"... I would suggest, some others would say they are talking facts.... Enjoy the final, hopefully a couple of thousand of fans from both teams can make it, and plenty of East Anglians are interested to go along too... Who knows, having a final at a "neutral venue" could become a roaring success, with both sets of fans there in big numbers and plenty of local speedway fans in attendance too... If so, even by default, it may become a blue print for the future...6 points

The entire calendar needs to be sorted. League cup final before end of April league play offs and final before mid September and finish with pairs mid September to early October. When competitions are strung out like this league cup campaign there’s hardly any interest in the final. All clubs need to get their act together5 points

That is a completely ridiculous view. Matt Ford was the only real go-ahead promoter in the U.K. and if others had followed his lead the sport would have been in a much better place. And as For Sandhu being hounded out. Good riddance to bad rubbish. A dreadful man who closed Coventry, made then sure it was utterly vandalised by smashing up the place and now trying to build a housing estate there.4 points

This new young promoter will have a lot of work on his hands trying to lift the sport back up from the depths that his old man helped drag it down to. And the others? The Bates? Really? The couple that have made a mockery of the Pairs and destroyed the credibility and integrity of the 2nd division and Jubilee Trophy and moved the final to a different venue with not 1 thought for ANY of the fans! The last time a promoter with new ideas came into the sport he was hounded out by the establishment... Mr Sandhu!4 points

What a joke this once massive sport has become. Poole in the second div. no more Swindon, Coventry, Zummerzet, Newcastle etc., 6 team Premier, thousands deserting the sport in last 10 years or so. Sad to see speedway on its arse The only highlight has been return of the Ox. Oh dear.4 points

A shame they didn't make this sort of effort to get meetings on within the season......4 points

At least the Cooks and Ablitt have ridden the Leicester track but not KL. Don't see how that's fair at all to allow Leicester practice when they have all ridden the track previously. I guess the official protest to SCB will be going in?!3 points
-
Haha! So it would... my real point is Poole need to engineer it to be level going into heat 3. It's the only morally right thing to do to make the best of a bad situation. It'd be great sportsmanship. I think Leicester would do the same if the roles were reversed3 points

I've said all along should have been run at Oxford, easy to get to for both sets of fans3 points

With the second leg being at kings Lynn it really has made a complete mockery of the playoffs for Poole because if they win, there is absolutely no credibility in it for them as they have obviously had an advantage of the 1st leg at Wimborne Road thus having home advantage, on the other hand Leicester if they win it will be massive as they have had to race both legs on away tracks. I'm sure even the most blinkered Poole fans would rather win it at Leicester than kings Lynn. It's just crazy imo.3 points

I have a question. Aside from the craziness of having this on a neutral track, what is the point of having a place called "The National Speedway Stadium" that provides brilliant racing and then - the first time it might actually be needed to be called into emergency use - having this meeting at King's Lynn?3 points

I take it there are Glasgow riders mentioned in the team you were sent and that’s why you’ve posted this on the Glasgow thread…..3 points

The supporters club are the people that generally organise the coaches to the away matches. They have tried several times this season and last season and the prices quoted have gone through the roof due to the increases in diesel and the fact that our sport needs understanding coach companies to refund all monies in the event of last minute cancellations. For that, you pay an extra premium on the high price already quoted. Given that Leicester supporters by the shed load have said that they're unable to get to K.L. in time because of the time that they finish work, or worse still, have said that even if they could make it they're not going to be bothered because of what's happened, means that whoever organises a coach is on a hiding to nothing before they start. Look at what happened to the 3 Poole coaches. They were cancelled by the coach company because of the on off, on off situation of the matches and I've read that Poole speedway have taken a massive finnancial hit on this. Given the hit that the Bates' have already taken for all of the reasons previously mentioned over the past 100 or so pages of this thread, laying on coaches whether they be free of charge or at full cost to the supporters, that will then not be patronised is simply a non starter. There are some of us going by car with currently, 2 or 3 empty seats. If anyone is looking to go but struggling with transport please message me. I don't have a magic wand but we'll try and work something out to get you there and back for a share of the petrol money.3 points

When the pairs was announced at the start of the season I was sceptical if it was really needed or would be taken serious. However I thought there was some good racing and over the years maybe could be built up as something worth winning. Then speedway does what speedway does best . Another shambles. BSN must wonder why they bothered with it. It's a shame the BSPL arnt as professional as BSN. In just one season the BSN coverage improved week on week and glitches ironed out and they kept subscribers informed3 points

Feel sorry for Poole fans as they have done nothing wrong they have just been caught up in this farce, I also feel sorry for the Leicester fans the biggest meeting of the season and most of them won’t see it farcical shame on you bspa yes the weather has been poor but you need to get your house in order this can’t keep happening.3 points

As the NDL rules force the use of RR and multiple 3 point riders in circumstances such as this there can't be a minimum team points total. The six riders programmed have a combined average of 30.62, which I expect exceeds the seven-man total of the infamous S****horpe team of a few years ago. I'm surprised to see Boughen in the line-up as this meeting will give him an MA I believe.2 points

I swear I cannot take much more from this thread. I am so close to hibernating for the winter! Let me know in March who won the playoff final!2 points

It is their leg, they are supposed to have it set up for them!2 points

Who's mentioned it being a neutral track... other than you?2 points

On balance, I don’t have a problem with this. It effectively gives Leicester back a degree of the home track advantage that they’ve lost. And it’s a better idea than iainb’s of Poole not sending any riders out in the first two heats. There’s a limit as to how much practice will be possible without it requiring a complete regrade so the track may well be different between practice and racing.2 points
-
I’ve never heard such nonsense it’s not Poole’s fault ,and if people are honest on here none of us would want our teams to throw anyone a bone really some people talk rubbish, if it was my team I’d want them to go for the jugular from heat 1 so Leicester can’t get there track ready and for that Poole should be penalised I can’t believe what I’m reading.2 points
-
Why would we do that? You seem to think we should start from 0-0 as Leicester couldn’t get their track sorted? Why in earth is it Poole’s fault? We had to struggle for over half of last weeks meeting due to the track not being great.2 points
-
Oh good we’re back to this again…… The promoters chose to go to the press with details of the proposed new stadium in a bid to garner support from the local and wider speedway community. At no point did they suggest it was ‘in the bag’. Speedway at Armadale in 2023 was far from assured when the farewell meeting was staged. Cancelling it and then the extension falling through would have been more foolish.2 points
-
You keep thinking that. In fact there are several posters on this thread as well as you who are trying desperately to make this second leg as meaningless as possible. Yes we are all aware of you and others hatred of all things Poole but the final does mean something to both clubs. Don’t forget this farce has nothing whatsoever to do with Poole. We rode last week on a track that was far from normal, caught out the team taking away any home advantage and it was only when the track settled in the latter heats we managed to get a small lead. Under normal circumstances we would have had a 55-35 scoreline. Leicester have done their best to sort their track but it’s come down to this. Yes it’s a farce. But no other choice. Let the best team win, let’s learn from it and make sure it’s not repeated next season. The big winners are BSN who will have hundreds of extra viewers.2 points
-
It should and might have been but for postponements right from outset. Firstly, both original home and away legs of the quarter finals fell foul of the weather and had to be re-staged, Poole having three attempts to get their meeting at Plymouth completed thus delaying the competition by a fortnight. Then they had a further three goes to get past Glasgow before that was completed on 2nd October.2 points

Zach Cook intimated similar in the Piratecast interview yesterday.2 points

With no rain forecast in Leicester from now until Saturday I don't know why Buster couldn't work his magic at Leicester tomorrow rather than at his own track, he managed to do it the other day and get the track looking reasonable so why not now. Apparently Kings Lynn has had a decent amount of rain too so I am not sure what the advantage is other than Buster himself wanting to host it at his track.2 points

Even you can see this is laughable!! Whoever wins tomorrow its an absolute shambles!! Thankfully no one out side a few hundred speedway fans will ever know2 points

I'm assuming not much available. Plus Buster experienced on how to prep a track?2 points

What an absolute farce this season has been …. A joke of a final where one team gets a home leg and the other doesn’t!!! Coupled with the fact that’s Pooles best rider is also the top rider at the neutral venue!! I hope against all the odds Leicester can pull this off2 points

I thought I may have calmed down a bit overnight... no! This is a total disgrace and so disrespectful to both sets of fans! Fans, who like you say, have been following their team all year long, bought into the competition (literally), encouraged to go along and support their team make the pay offs, support them in the pay offs and then Boom! we've moved the deciding final leg to a track that a lot of fans won't be able to get to... on a Friday night! And just to put the cherry on top of the icing on the cake nobody has had the balls to front up and make any comment on it from Leicester or the BSPL, just some bland statement on the Leicester website about it being "a difficult but necessary decision", that's it, no explanation as to why it was necessary? If you've run past the end of the season the damage has already been done! There will be a great many fans from both sides that won't be able to attend this and some, like myself, who will choose not to, so what was the point in moving it?!? What was the point in the whole season? On top of all that, I've not even started on the Jubilee Trophy!2 points

First Jack now Tobi good start to team building for next season. Would like Kerr and Mountain back aswell.2 points

The pits are that small he probably ran into him by accident. But speedway needs this sort of aggro. It’s happens way to little nowadays2 points

Because the whole reason we are trying to get the biggest meetings of the season ridden in October and November is the shambolic summer fixture list that he oversaw. Might pop along to this if the weather is ok and I can be bothered, for one last speedway fix. At least all fourteen riders should be there!2 points

Free coaches?? So Leicester will have lost the gate for the final and your asking them to fork out Thousands for coaches to take people to Kings Lynn where they won’t see the ticket money anyway. it’s not Leicesters fault so why should they have to put themselves even further into the hole to get this farce of a season done.2 points

Who now wins/is awarded the Championship League Title this year is becoming a secondary consideration. I sense that even some diehard fans, even from the two clubs involved, are losing all sense of real enthusiasm for this competition. And before you ask, yes, I'm planning my trip to KL tomorrow to support my adopted team. Surely, now is the time to learn the lessons. Yes, the weather has been exceptional, but there is a view that this is going to become more the rule rather than the exception. Either way, the sport has painted itself into corner with no way out with this competition. Let's have a sensible, grown-up conversation about how we got here and without all the finger pointing design a fixture regime that avoids this going forward.1 point

Don't let the facts get in the way of what Shovlar posts,he's already been called out by Leicester track man.1 point

Aren't the two promoters involved in this part of the "top table"? If so, heaven help the sport.... Fans will have spent literally millions across the country paying to watch the "qualifiers" of this competition and, now, all for what? How hard can it be to run a sport properly? Many, many others do seem to able to do so, and even do it well... Just two nights needed to run a final at their own tracks and they couldn't do it... Both had their semi final meetings done by the end of September and Instead of running the "flagship competition", other matches have taken place of a lesser level..... That isn't "being unlucky with the weather"... That is simply poor organisation... If those who run the sport don't take it seriously enough to organise and prioritise their biggest competition, then why should the fans? As for next year? Does anyone seriously think it will be any different? There does seem to always be an "insurmountable something" to overcome doesn't there...? Lets hope they run the final as a one off and they get enough fans from East Anglia who may want a "final fix" of the season to go...1 point
