Here you go then "Poole are adamant that the lengthy wait for the 2nd leg of their Grand Final has had "no impact" on their riders" @SocialSpeedway15 points

An absolute farce how we are in the final week of October, in fact the final two days of October, and there are various meetings that are still to take place. To be honest, each year since Newport folded my interest has faded more and more but have still had a quick browse on here a few times a week and find it baffling how so many clubs had empty race nights during the hottest and driest UK summer for some time yet there is a big scramble to try and complete meetings now. Another huge subject to discuss and attempt to sort out at the AGM this winter.7 points

The most annoying thing about today is the communication. British Speedway clubs seem to forget about the most important people, the paying customer. At the same time that someone was phoning up middlo they should have hit send to the website and social media. It takes seconds. It should not be found out on here nearly an hour before that it's off. The whole track situation is another thing. Why they didn't get a blade a week ago needs an answer. Of course, we'll be told by certain people connected to clubs that we're keyboard warriors and we do nothing for British Speedway. We shouldn't be listened to, ignored. Well, we pay our hard earned money in various forms, subscriptions, attendance and very soon there will not be enough fans to keep clubs going. Its suffering a very slow death. Stadiums are easy pickings for developers and we've had several "Speedway Shambles" this week that do nothing for the credibility of the sport.6 points

Lots of track prep. experts now joining in on the forum :-) Lets not divert from the knub of the problem..... that the clubs' management cannot collectively agree amongst themselves to get these "finals" completed before the last day of the season in early winter. The fact that this applies to all 3 divisions shares the blame across the entire UK speedway promoters scene. They are all a little bit useless.5 points

Well I posted it was off nearly an hour before it was made official. I don’t understand why there was such a delay in getting it online. Takes a few seconds to type it and post on Twitter, then a few minutes to get it on the website. Next Friday is the date at the moment though surely next Saturday would mean a bigger crowd with more travelling support. As for getting a blade in to remove the slop, why has it taken so long for the bleeding obvious to happen?5 points

Weather isn’t the fault of the authorities. Planning is though! And all clubs must share the responsibility of what is now happening, delay meetings due to riders being unfit etc hasn’t helped. Lesson’s must be learnt but like year on year they never are and I’m sure in 2023 this will happen again.5 points

When will British Speedway ever do anything professional? The first announcement should be on an official platform not the BSF. Pathetic. Facebook says it's on, the away manager says it's off, The Echo asking who's going, silence from the home team other than telling us the teams first thing this morning. FFS. Shambles.5 points

Radical idea, run the second leg at Leicester when the track has been sorted, whenever that is.4 points

The self-entitlement that some Poole fans have is absolutely mind blowing.4 points

As long as the information you are posting is correct (and it has been)I don’t see what the problem is.4 points

Just award the title too Leicester as league champions as table toppers and present the trophy at the start off next season. Award Poole as one legged play off winners and award them with 400 duty free fags and present them to Havvy on there next northern jaunt.4 points

.. and yet here you are!! Lewy likes to make up the rules as he goes along - it's a Plymouth thing. Been doing it all season.3 points

Poole held the first leg and won 49-41. If Leicester can't hold the second leg, they should forfeit the tie and Poole be crowned Champions. I don't agree with the Play-offs and I think whoever tops the League at the end of the season should be Champions, but I believe they are here to stay. They quite simply should start the Play-offs earlier. Hoping fans turn out in what is usualy cold damp conditions is ridiculous (especially when you consider a lot of fans are of an older generation).3 points

This happens every season nice and simple whoever is top of the league once everyone has completed their fixtures are champions not exactly rocket science.3 points
-
Why should Poole agree that, all teams signed up knowing whoever won the playoffs would be champions If Poole were in the position Leicester are in right now, you know very well this thread would be double the pages it is now3 points

You stated Poole cant control the weather but want to punish Leicester for not being able to do so!!!3 points
-
I think it would be sufficient just to exclude heat 2 - the Poles used to do that a few years ago. Another thing we might borrow from them is to throw away highest and lowest scores before calculating averages which makes manipulation more difficult.3 points

Haha, they haven't exactly finished everything in to the Prem either? Mainly down to Sheffield. Hmm wonder who runs them?3 points

It's a shame the riders can't detune their engines, alter the tyre pressures, put a Football shirt over their leathers, put more tearoffs over the goggles..... oh and ride in the slush! It's called the good old days!3 points

You would have hoped that there would have been some kind of statement from somebody in authority about: The PL League Cup Final 2nd leg The CL PO Final 2nd leg The NDL PO Final 2nd leg The Premiership Pairs 6th leg The Jubilee Trophy Final 1st leg The Jubilee Trophy Final 2nd leg matches still being unplayed at the official end of the season and when they are going to be scheduled to be run But as usual... Silence! If Rob Godrey doesn't resign after this omnishambles he never will.3 points

Today the 30th October I think in the 3 levels of speedway 5 trophies still to be decided, it's a totally joke situation and as far as I'm aware no statement from the clowns (bspa) who run !!! the sport . In the future, if speedway has a future? This must not happen again, play offs and finals must be run in September end off.3 points

I feel so sorry for the Poole fans who were travelling to this, but it’s now becoming a farce there has been some terrible weather in the south west lately and around the Poole area but they still managed to get there meeting on I can’t believe I’m saying this but other posters have already put this so here goes Leicester should have put the big blade on last week to get rid of the slop, not wait until now it’s a farce the two best teams and it’s looking like one of them won’t have there no 1 as he’s gone home not his fault it’s the farce of the bspa having the showpiece meetings so late in the year there must be a way of organising the season so this doesn’t happen again now I’m no Poole fan but I think this should be last chance saloon for Leicester if it’s not run next week it should be awarded to Poole as this could keep happening week on week a line has to be drawn somewhere as for the farce of a jubilee cup you might as well bin that now.3 points

Motorway blade now coming in and track to be re-laid. Why wasn’t this done 8 days ago after initial rain off? funny how I suggested this late last week and certain fans in the midlands shot me down for even suggesting it!3 points

52 mins after Steve Shovlar''s post on page 75. Very poor communication given the travel distance from Poole.3 points

If today is called off the play offs should be listed as Uncontested, no winner, every club is complicit (some more than others) of failing to run meetings or refusing to run/continue meetings during the season where they could have, that has led to this stage of events. I once heard someone say “f**k around, f**k around, soon you won’t be around”3 points

This is almost beginning to sound like a half sensible solution, if we are making the rules up as we go along, as we seem to be on this thread, to make it fully sensible, the 1st leg should be null and voided and it could be a winner take all, shoot out final at Oxford2 points

Well from my own point of view, as a family when the kids were younger we always went on holiday half term week and we were usually lucky with the weather.2 points

Sounds like the poor sods working on the track were trying to do the equivalent of emptying a swimming pool with a teaspoon.2 points

The season is officially closed - just leave it unrun and call the result After all any meeting has a result declared at heat 10 of 15 (67%) and this competition has had 5 rounds of 6 (83%)2 points

As a Professional Sport it is descending into a bigger farce as each season goes bye.2 points

I apologise to track staff who were upset by a post I made on Friday. It sounds like they've been struggling "against the odds" and that the equipment they've got to work with, whilst usually sufficient, has only provided limited assistance in combatting the "enemy" since 15th October. In mitigation, my posts to this forum about Leicester since the new owners took over have been overall positive and I probably on this occasion got swept along with the general level of feelings about this ridiculous situation which is surely down to lack of foresight and planning by those who run the sport. It's also been annoying that a Poole supporter seems to have had "inside knowledge", which he has broadcast on here including about the state of the Leicester circuit (as is his right, I suppose, providing that it is true) before such information has been provided locally. But it's just annoying, nothing more.2 points

Easter is a different date every year though. it's simple just don't close the sport down during the summer, that's all that's needed2 points

Old Bob speaking 100% truth here. I've been saying for years that they should rattle through the league, and hold the play off finals on the August Bank Holiday. Can move into September as a last resort. But no. Every year we fannny about in the cold and wet when nobody is interested and the racing is a lottery because riders are rusty and conditions are poor. Sadly it will never change.2 points

I think some promoters do see the flaws, but they know they can use those flaws to their advantage at certain points in the season. So they choose to turn a blind eye to it and hope others don't object to it.Then if more promoters want the flawed rule than not it will be voted in anyway. This is why we need an independent body set up.2 points

The promotion had been told by the stadium owners that speedway would not be able to continue in 2023 so the promotion arranged a farewell meeting. So far totally reasonable. Then the stadium owners realise that their plans are not going to happen and the speedway promotion also find their plans for a new track are sunk without trace. So reasonably the two sides have talks how how both can help each other out. Date for the farewell is getting very close but no agreement so it is not unreasonable to go ahead with the farewell meeting. Now we have the good news that both sides think an agreement is going to be possible but it has not been signed yet, so running the farewell meeting still makes sense as it is still possible that no racing for Edinburgh will be possible in 2023. Many tracks and promotions have been in a similar situation in the past and sadly many will face the same problems in the future. How many farewell meetings for both speedway and stock cars were held at Boston. There it almost became an annual event and if the stadium still existed I am sure many fans would be happy to still be having a farewell meeting every year!2 points
