  1. Things don't dry this time of year, that's nature. Absolute insanity to be staging finals in October. Will we never learn.

  2. So the 2000 and the 600 are all full paying adults? I don't think so. Plus how much sponsorship and advertising revenue do Oxford get? You really need to get down to Poole and see a big crowd. And once again no disrespect to Oxford who have done a great job. Long may it continue.

  3. Should the weather intervene again and the final cannot be contested, the title should default to the team who finished top of the regular season table. Just an opinion

  4. Running the league play offs in September would be the perfect scenario.. Just after the summer hols and kids back at school so maximum possible adult attendance... And whilst the weather is still decent too... The Cups should take place in April and be done and dusted by mid May.. Again, hopefully in decent weather.. Spreading the competitions keeps publicity throughout the season and not just in one block when Speedway closes just afterwards.. Win a trophy in May, get some local publicity, then advertise yourself as "x" cup winners for the rest of the season.. Fans like to latch on to something successful... Run all the individual comps in October...

  6. Good god you really are a pathetic individual as many people on here are testament to.you silly irrelevant and trivial man at least with shovlar you get a balanced view from a Poole perspective how do you see the racing with those blinkers you wear.cheats is an interesting word because you can only be referring to kennett and if that’s the case you must be referring to a member of the medical profession who must have been writing sick notes for the above mentioned and calling him or her a liar that’s a rocky path your choosing there. Or maybe your referring to the management committee of the bspa which obviously had the evidence in front of them to allow this to continue which I’m assuming pretty confidently that you yourself never saw but your promoter who is a member of said committee Has seen and didn’t have a problem with it. When your walking around your house or outside do you bump into things because I feel for you wearing them blinkers.

  7. Just to clarify this, the policy regarding how postponed fixtures are displayed hasn't changed for many years, although the presentation is slightly different this year since the new website came online prior to the start of the season. I took over responsibility for BSP website editorial a number of years ago now, and one of the things I was keen to bring in was that we would show a separate news item previewing (and subsequently reviewing) every fixture individually. (You may remember that in the very old days, the updates tended to be 2 brief news items per day, and the reason for that was the content was tailored to fit in with the space requirements of Ceefax/Teletext). It's always been the case that if a meeting is postponed, the news item is removed and there's then a separate section on that front page where the fixture is marked as POSTPONED, along with any other relevant info, which would typically be the re-arranged date if available. As mentioned above, it looks slightly different now to the past when it was simply a text box showing results, but that information is still on the front page when a meeting is postponed. The news item previewing the meeting is obviously removed, as to leave it there would cause confusion, and personally I wouldn't want to see separate news items reporting meetings being postponed, especially in a week like this! Individual clubs, of course, would be putting postponement news items on their own websites, but on the BSP site it is reported on the front page down the fixtures/results section on the side, which has always been the case. We've worked over the years to add a huge amount of information to the BSP site - items such as official meeting scorecards, Green Sheets, match-by-match averages, pics from the previous night's meetings rather than standard press day shots, to name a few, but we're always open to suggestions on ways in which it can be improved. We'll look all aspects of output over the winter and happy to receive e-mails to the press office with any feasible suggestions for what you'd like to see in the future.

  8. So based on that theory there can't be a winner of the jubilee trophy thingy as clubs signed up for a 3 team final.

  9. Good to see a couple of others wanting Marcin Nowak back. He was told when we had him for a few weeks end of last season. We want entertainment and he certainly gave it. His English wasn’t great but he just seemed like a great guy to have around. No idea what he’s done this season, but if we had a full season of what he gave us a glimpse of, he’d be a very popular rider.

  10. On a serious note... how on earth are clubs supposed to "promote" their biggest matches of the season at this time of year... it's totally ridiculous!

  11. For the conspiracy theorists, here’s a look at the track. It’s a swamp, everyone was ready to go but it’s simply not safe as Stewart explains in the video.. https://fb.watch/gjFLaGwnQ0/

  12. Poole fan who doesn't know his Poole history. Suppose you only started supporting them once they became successful. The original Poole Pirates closed down in the mid-80s and racing only returned when the Weymouth Wildcats were relocated to Poole.

  13. I've actually been to Poole twice this season (vs Oxford and vs Berwick) and the crowds were smaller than Oxford's, so not sure what you're talking about. Fair point that not all will be full paying adults, but it'll be the same situation at Poole. Can't comment on sponsorship, but doubt it's much different - at least it's not going to make up Poole's shortfall from gate receipts. Plus, advertising isn't a revenue by the way! It's a shame you feel so threatened by Oxford that you've felt the need to make it all about Poole, but that's life. Some people are just like that.

  14. No disrespect to him but he is the kind of dross that would be employed as a number seven if Rising Stars were dispensed with.

  15. Who will run the first leg? Very exciting isn't it?

  16. Yeah but doesn’t it go off their most recent average achieved which would be this years Premiership converted ?

  17. Something similar has happened to me. I think it might have something to do with AdBlock. I paused it and refreshed the screen and hey presto.

  18. Cmon Leicester you can do it.every other team bar one are right behind you.

  19. The final should be a single match at Leicester, with no return fixture at Wimbo Road. Poole fans will moan but true pirates supposedly cope with one leg.

  20. Be warned at some point there will be a falling out with Atkins not maybe with him but if daddy gets involved it could all end in tears because he thinks young Henry is a lot better than he is at the moment.

  25. There have been one or two dubious call offs in the past but it is also true that Poole have been accused of it too so sometimes it is just giving back what is thrown at us and most fans will do that in support of their club.

  30. The conversion rate is still 1.5 & did not change in(another) 5 year plan. If riding in 2 leagues in the same season then that league average applies. Therefore, most recent would be Premiership x 1.5

  31. Even if the season ran from January to December the way the sport is managed, fixture lists compiled and the book of excuses called rules are used, you would still have clubs who could not complete a fixture list. Time to run one home one away league fixture with play offs in August and fill the rest other forms of meaningless meetings and an individual British championship given that most of the riders are only interested in riding for themselves and would need to ride well to make a living rather than rely on clubs to finance what in effect is the riders business. Failing all that just let the riders and clubs pick and chose the meetings and days they want to race. Forgot they already do this!

  32. I told you all on Thursday this meeting will be off there was little to no chance the track was going to dry out in time for Saturday night when it was still raining torrentially at 7pm Friday night. Leicester have tried i walked my dog past the stadium this morning & a few cars there & sounded like tractors going round. But equally Leicester now get what they wanted the 2nd leg.

  35. Jenga the stalker still lurking on here I see will need to get a restraining order on his keyboard. Or let him start his own thread just for him and him only and he can talk Sh*te to himself all day long problem solved.

  36. You seem very cross. Regardless of age profile, Poole have consistently run with really good crowds suggesting that they are managing to attract younger people (maybe younger oldies!) year after year. But then this is an Oxford thread so well done to the owners, the promoters, the riders and the supporters. You have done what few achieve by being successful in your first year.

  37. When you're getting the biggest attendances in the league, if not the country, then I'm sure it is probably accurate. 2,000 x £18 = £36,000 a meeting, plus an additional 600 (ish) x £12 for the Chargers = £7,200. I doubt any other club (except maybe Belle Vue) got those kind of gate receipts week in/week out.

  38. Maybe it doesn't rain as much in Manchester

  39. How can it be that of the two clubs contesting the League Championship play--off:- Belle Vue have staged 10 Premiership matches, 7 National League matches, 2 League Cup matches, 2 play-off ties, The Peter Craven Trophy, The British Final, (and a half of a British Final), and will still be staging a Premiership Pairs round. but Shefiield have only staged 9 premiership matches, 2 League Cup matches and 2 play-off ties?

  40. I think it's pretty sick to bring the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II into the "excuses" for pulling out, I thought Glasgow were better than that. They've already renamed the trophy once, they should have just renamed it to the Queen Elizabeth trophy and got on with it. There is now doubt that any competition that Glasgow are involved in the future that they'll just take their ball home if they don't like the name of it. Pathetic really!
