Just got home, not even going to bother reading all the pages on here as will be the normal moaning from the usual forum muppets. After following them home and away everywhere for 29 years can say BELLE VUE ACES CHAMPIONS!8 points

Congratulations to Belle Vue in winning the Play Off Final. The atmosphere on the night was electric, and credit has to be given to the Aces supporters who turned out in numbers. Its a pity the camera's did not capture the atmosphere, as I can tell you the atmosphere was there. The Aces supporters celebrated Polish style with smoke bombs and flares, which I did not mind apart from the smell, which smelt like dog rubbish. The referee decisions were in my opinion mostly correct after looking at the replays on the phone. I think Belle Vue came into the meeting to simply defend the 12 point lead and frustrate the Tigers, and we were chasing the in the meeting all night. But cannot fault our riders who put in 100% effort, but the Aces were just to good for us over the two legged final, and the signing of Robert Lambert as I suspected swung the advantage to Belle Vue. We now move onto the League Cup Final as consolation winning silverware against Kings Lynn so we are still in with a chance of winning something. Finally for me the Play Off's should stay, the tension and excitement that they create means they should stay.6 points

Mikebv has put his finger on it there! As a died-in-the-wool Tigers fan for 56 years, I'm actually glad to see Belle Vue win the title, for the simple reason that it highlights the sheer hypocrisy and corruption of the ruling authorities in allowing a rider who has shunned British racing for three years in pursuit of personal treasure to suddenly turn up for three matches in the colours of a team for which he has no past or present connection and have the audacity to collect a champion's medal on the rostrum. A "ringer" by any definition. Surely the authorities will now be shamed into ensuring no such aberration will ever occur in the future. As for the real championship, whichever team wins the Sheffield v Ipswich tie two weeks' time can hold its heads high and rightly claim to be the season's champions - an accolade won over the course of twenty matches home and away and without recourse to underhand and devious chicanery, the stench of which will always hang around this alleged Belle Vue "victory".5 points

I think this is already paying dividends with a potential sponsor noticing and being impressed Former Olympiam Tom Daley has said " Belle Vue are a perfect fit for me. My knitting appeals to the demographic in the stands whilst I feel great affinity with the diving on the track"5 points

Absolutely spot on in your assessment, the team that finishes top should be crowned champions and do away with all of this play off nonsense.4 points

Blimey, there's as many salty comments in here as there was in the Stead interview! Really poor from him but not unexpected. For the people commenting on the referee's gender... Nothing to do with anything and out of order imo! Male refs never make controversial decisions? People will have differing opinions of decisions tonight... FWIW, for me, heat 1 Brady had to go. Heat 3, all 4 back. Heat 11, Musielak had to go. Did the Ellis exclusion gift the Aces the title? Not by any stretch. Kurtz was just sauntering round at the back in heat 15. The title was won. If there was anything to race for that wouldn't have been the case. If someone said to me at the start of tonight's meeting that the Aces top 3 would score 22 points between them I'd be worried we were gonna be hammered. Brennan and Blodorn were excellent tonight with by far their best performances of the season around Sheffield. Last time we won it I was 9. It's been a long wait but it's over! Well done to Sheffield for a brilliant season and only lost by the smallest margin. We've been there many times. Their time will come. But tonight, it's our time!4 points

There are lot of Poole haters on this forum, but at the end of the the day they run the Club as a business and in a Professional manner. They pay good money and expect full commitment from their riders which they get and the crowd levels stand up well in comparison to most Championship Track. They had the sense to drop down a division when they thought the Premiership was not viable for them. Well done to them.IMO.3 points

Baring any injuries we will be there or thereabouts again. The club is run with our fans expecting success and that will never change. Regardless of what the points limit is, we can almost guarantee that opposition clubs will have to raise their bar to compete with the Pirates. Matt and Danny know the fans won’t accept mediocrity and only once or perhaps twice in Matts tenure did the team completely fail to deliver. The club is not run on good enough. It is run on expecting and demanding 110% and the riders thrive on it. Not meant to sound as blowing our own trumpet but other clubs need to rise to the challenge. And the more that do so, the better the league and meetings.3 points

Never seen any tripe at Poole, tried it once on holiday didn't like it!3 points

For someone who is used to being a loser, and isn't bothered about being a loser, he hasn't half done some crying on this forum since they lost.3 points

Not for H3. She took ages to put the red light on when Tom went down, so waiting for him to get up. Without TV replays I think he would have gone or all 4.3 points

Firstly it was a great advert for speedway over the two legs that everything that is required, hard fast racing by 2 evenly matched teams. With the scoreline finishing so close though focus will always fall on the refereeing decisions as it will always be felt that the title wasnt truly decided on the track as it should be. With Heat 1 I agree Kurtz was the primary cause of the stoppage, but given that it was heat one, the move happened on bend 2 I dont think anyone at all would have objected to all 4 back, given first race of a final tension and all that. Heat 3 irrespective of who anyone thought was at fault or not this should have been all 4 back Had the ref chose to put all 4 back in heats 1 and 3 then there would have been not talk of poor refereeing decisions cos the ref wouldnt have actually made a decision, just gave the riders the opportunity to race. With heat 11, yes a decision had to be made, and yes in my opinion Tobiasz had to go. Brady new exactly what he was doing and gambled that once he hit the deck he would get the decision. I cant recall which GP it was but one of the final two roundsand it involved Patryk Dudek with an exact similar move on bend 3.....in that case the rider that hit the deck was excluded, assumption being although there was contact, the other rider was in front....Just as Tobiasz was, so all a matter of opinions.3 points

I dont know Luke or family but seems they have their heads screwed on. I really enjoyed watching him at Berwick not only last Saturday but in his development through the Berwick Academy as a wee lad. I would love to see how he progresses next season in NDL and would love that to be at Berwick but am sure family will make right call for him with his input too.3 points

I've watched the heat 1 and heat 11 incidents again Kurtz involved in both one went for and one against him - on balance probably both correct - If I recall it correctly the ref doesnt have the benefit of countless different angles to view it from? Also take a bow Lewis Kerr - 9 pts - 3 months ago he was riding for Lynn and would have had no notion of being in the grand final! - funny how life can change - same for Sedgmen who rode a blinder in heat 14!3 points

What a great advert for the sport the Finals have been.. Never a great fan of Owlerton as it is too narrow for the speed and the angles the bikes hit the bends nowadays, to ever be a "great" track, but it served up some tremendously fast close racing... With riders literally knowing that one slight mistake whilst out in front would cost them points... (Evening Jack) There most have been around 500 Aces fans there tonight and they delivered a truly awesome atmosphere.. My lad said how great the sport could be if they could deliver away crowds every meeting to add some noise, and that "the pyro" must have made the sport look worth watching to those who may be less acquainted with the sport but watching on TV.. Incredible at the end to see what it meant to the Aces riders, and Matej in particular... We sometimes feel that these lads are mercenaries travelling the globe riding for all and sundry to earn money, and they never really develop an affinity with the club or fans... Well tonight Matej proved how much he loves riding for the Aces and what this meant to him tonight.. And my lad caught his sombrero when he threw it before Matej jumped into the crowd and celebrated with them..!! Charlie doing a "John Terry" was a nice touch too.. A fantastic nights Speedway both on and off the track, and one that will live long in the memory.. Although I did say to my lad... "It was very good, but it wasn't as good as '93 at Wolves"... Well Done to the Aces. Unlucky Tigers.. Both teams served up 30 heats of great sporting excellence and drama...3 points

One thing they have to sort out is that all fixtures are completed before the play offs commence. This season the play offs were a farce, the grand final of the league program taking place with league fixtures outstanding. One of the fixtures could have lead to a different semi final match up.2 points

That was the oddest decision I ever remember. Kurtz was awarded 3 points whilst laid on his back on the fourth bend, whilst three riders had passed the finishing line ahead of him. If the referee reckoned Tobi had cheated and deserved exclusion, surely the race should either have a) been re-run with three riders, or b) awarded to Belle Vue as a 3 - 2 victory. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems odd to base the score on the assumption that Kurtz would have won had he not fallen off. Passing the finishing line first is usually the criterion for the awarding of 3 points.2 points

Well I am neutral and I thought the final was good viewing (both legs). The track at Owlerton however wasn’t particularly good and the starts were dreadful, why the start line wasn’t ripped I don’t know, gate 3 was a graveyard and 2 wasn’t much better. The Ref got some decisions right but heat 3 was surely all four back every time, not sure what she was thinking to exclude Ellis and looking at the reaction he didn’t either. Heat 11 was in our opinion wrong, Kurtz had lost that one and just dropped it. It’s disappointing that the match was effectively decided on the refs decision in that heat as it looked like it was going all the way. As expected Robert Lambert didn’t find it quite as easy to miss the gate and overtake as he did at the NSS but I still think it’s wrong that he was included in the first place as he is light years better than Fricke. That’s undoubtedly took some of the shine of the final but the Belle Vue fans and Management clearly don’t care as it was always all about winning and nothing else mattered.2 points

Pirates roar, nobody takes away fans like Belle Vue, as Brady said last night, the Aces have the best away fans in the country. Atmosphere was sensational.2 points

51/49? Not quite divisive enough... How about 52/48?2 points

Berwick have done a lot of good work putting in a pathway from Duns to NJL to National League to Championship then hopefully onwards for riders. It's slowly starting to bear fruit now. They deserve a lot of credit for it.2 points

The first two, yes, very tight -- but referee was consistent. As for the Pole wiping out Kurtz -- he rode right into him, ffs -- there was no doubt.2 points

As far as I'm aware Tungate for Riss was a temporary Injury replacement, so now that Riss is fit again he comes back into the team.2 points

BELLE VUE ARE CHAMPIONS, belle Vue are winners. but also SPEEDWAY WAS THE WINNER this week 29 years of hurt ended, had frame, thrills, spills, best atmosphere from aces fans than anywhere. And if you don’t believe me, check my socials. hard luck Sheffield, makes 2 teams to make a final. some good news aces fans. Captain Kurtz is here to stay. He wants more trophies2 points

The referee does what all the replays, that’s why there was delays making decisions as kept watching the replays!2 points

Shocking sour grapes from Messrs Ellis and Stead. Bad decisions, good decisions, justice, injustice, good luck, bad luck, all balance themselves out over a period of time.2 points

I am usually disappointed when a season draws too a close, this season there is no disappointment this tells a lot on how the season went especially the fixture planning which was not as good as farcical.2 points

Thought Tobi was their best rider over the 2 legs. Always gives 100%. Great rider for Swindon, won 2 titles, 2017/19. Good to see The Aces triumph at last. Simon Stead is a great guy, Sheffield will be back.2 points

Some great drama with plenty for the fans to discuss, speedway at it's best. When speedway gets it right it's still a fantastic spectacle. The celebrations afterwards by fans, riders and management showed how much it meant to them. I much prefer a great team match than individual meetings. As far as the matches go, yes there were controversial incidents and none of the referee's decisions were easy, but let's concentrate on the positives. Well done the Aces after 29 long years and Sheffield will be contenders again very soon, I'm sure.2 points

In my opinion Tobias was already past Kurtz. Kurtz was leaning all over Tobias down the back straight forcing his line into bend 3 and then almost gambled the ref would rule in his favour as he was always going to end in a heap. The camera angle from behind suggests Kurtz should have gone not Tobias, and that's what I'd have probably gone with. 3 tough calls by the ref last night, first one right I think, but not so sure on the other two! But that's speedway. Where does this 'block' move come from that Louis keeps banging on about. In the old days it would have been seen as a dirty move by Kurtz to stick his front wheel at Holder, his intention pretty clear and dangerous. Btw, I'm neutral in all this cos I'm a Stars fan and jealous that we weren't in the playoffs again this year....!!2 points

As we walked past the pits on the way out from the fourth turn, several Aces fans did actually trip up over his bottom lip due to it protruding so far ...2 points

Can't say I blame him considering H3 decision. Off to buy some cornflakes so I can ref next week's meetings!2 points

Ellis being gracious in defeat on social media I see. Following his team managers lead I guess. Lacks class if you can't suck it up and lose with grace.2 points

Or maybe some of his key riders didn't put a shift in over the 2 legs?2 points

What a great Grand Final this has been. Racing was tremendous, atmosphere great and showed the best of speedway. Tough on Sheffield, but as a neutral I felt the pivotal heat 11 decision was correct. Unlike heats 1 & 3, that were very poor. And Holder won’t be pleased with Kurtz but that’s speedway. Delighted for Belle Vue. As the team with probably the best and fairest racing track in the country, I’ve always thought it was a slight disadvantage in trying to win titles2 points

I always used to chat to Phil when he was around the leagues and found him to be a thoroughly likeable bloke and very approachable. He is what you see on the GP circuit and when he tells a rider they are out for an infringement he does it in a way he is on their side. Losing his wife at such a young age must be devastating but I am sure Phil will stay strong for his daughters and support them through this dreadful time.1 point

For me... Kurtz quite rightly went for a clear gap, then it quickly closed. - Correct decision.. - Similar to Holder/Wright at the NSS.. When you watch Ellis in super slow mo, which the ref did, he locked up very slightly a couple of times to, I would imagine, try and stop him drifting over to Brennan, unfortunately on the second time he couldnt quite manger to avoid contact... The ref would have considered "could he have gone further left?" Thus avoiding Brennan. - A very tight 51/49 correct decision... As for Kurtz/Musielak - Kurtz defended the line brilliantly and Musielak must have thought he had "cleared him", given the angle they hit the bend.. I had a great view and if he had gone in a fraction nearer the kerb he would have block passed Kurtz and rode him up the race track.. As he came in about 2m from the kerb he caught Kurtz . - 60/40 for me in Kurtz's favour... Overall I thought the ref did well over the 2 meetings, and decisions like those made always will be contentious but always add to the atmosphere.. An atmosphere driven by having so many away fans there.. Surely clubs would benefit by either letting away fans in at a heavily discounted rate, or even for free? It would be easy to police to ensure no home fans get access to tickets.. As my lad said "Every meeting should be like this"...1 point
