Me too. Put bikes on the track and I'll happily turn up to watch them. As others have said, the real problem is clubs having control over fixtures. If you give them control, they will manipulate it - why wouldn't you, if it helps you? Take control away from the clubs. Tell them who they're racing, and when. Let them deal with the consequences. They'll find riders if they have to.

Suspect you may need your dentist on speed dial if you repeated that in front of Gary May or Mark Phillips. They've repeatedly said they've tried numerous options. Some had Swedish commitments, some wanted silly money, some couldn't get Visas and at least one PL rider was refused by his Promoter who is on Management Committee according to various comments made on here by people on the know. Plus they replaced Gilkes and Bowtell and Atkins didn't they?? Morley, Complin and McGurk then Coles.

Onto the match. I said Peterborough would win and at the 3/4 stage it looked like they would so well done to us for pulling that out the bag thanks to a brilliant ride from Brennan and Zagar. wasn’t a bad meeting I thought . Not much passing granted but there was a lot of close racing. Sometimes you don’t need a pass for a good race. good news about your return. See y’all next season where hopefully you have a better season

There is no rule that requires teams to make a replacement. The guest rule at times encourages teams not to find new riders! Don't blame Plymouth for following the rules. Blame the rules.

Ted 'Sandy' Sturgess was born in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1920 and became a prominent road racer and dirt track rider in Canada. He was invited to try his luck in UK speedway in 1939 and his first appearance was as a reserve for The Possibles against The Probables in the opening meeting of the season at West Ham. His only appearance in the West Ham team was as a reserve at Belle Vue in a challenge match the following day, although he also rode as reserve for the West Ham Hawks (reserve team) at Bell End in May 1939. He was otherwise restricted to a few unsuccessful second half rides at West Ham during April and May. After the war he continued road racing and worked in the family motorcycle business in Hamilton.

Don't think there's a panic, just a desire to see finals raced in the summer in good weather with good crowds. Compared to the more likely league / cup / trophy finals all being raced at the end of October.

To be honest I think I’d enjoy it more if mine was pitch black. Terrible meeting to watch as a neutral I’d imagine as we’ve had 1 pass so far all night, but as a Bears fan it’s painful to see.

If it's 7 new riders so be it. Riders like Douglas, King, Basso, Pickering and even Cook are on averages which I think would improve around Peterborough regularly. Would also be nice to see a proper number 1 around the place again given it's our last year at the showground I hope we don't persist with the like of Ostergaard and Andersen again

Maybe so ,but I’m sure if the “boot was on the other foot”he would be doing the same ( if that is the case) The BSPA have to take a lot of the blame for lack of control of the fixture list and not setting strict cut off dates.It just gets a bigger shambles every year,even with less Teams.

Scunthorpe should of been given Plymouths Play Off place. At least their Promotion sought replacements for injured riders, Kinsley, Palin and.Kennedy. Gladiators Promotion made no attempt to find a replacement for Kennett. Or a couple of changes to use up the available points.

Went as a neutral last night. Decent meeting. Not an awful lot of passing, but close racing. Large bias towards those off gates 1 and 3. Heat 10 was a complete cracker of a race. When Hans Andersen lifted on the second bend of the last lap with the other three riders so close, I could see it ending in a pile up, and it was four abreast heading into the third turn, just in front of us, but everyone stayed on. Great stuff from Bomber to fend off both Aces earlier in the race. Basso passed Fricke on one wheel in Heat 5 after he lifted out of the second bend. Fricke's body language was "f*ck that, I've got a GP in two days time" because he shut off and can't blame him at all for that. Reckon Nicholls should have gone down in Heat 14 after the contact - he would have got Blodorn excluded. Belle Vue deserved the win, with good ride by Brennan in Heat 15 to not only get past King, but create the gap for Zagar as well. Jordan Jenkins very unlucky to be on the losing side, after great ride in Heat 8 to fend off both Aces, after his team-mate Andersen pushed past him and left him to it! Great news that Peterborough are back in 2023.

Ah but. The word on the street is that the Poles are going to relax their rules next year. So the likes of Nick and Dan the Man could well be riding here as well as in Poland. For sure, Saturday could be a problem.

So it appears Leicester can’t even organise an end of season party without getting it wrong !!!!! It’s just been announced its being held on Friday 14th October let’s be honest it’s highly likely there will be an important match the next day. So I don’t envisage many riders wanting to attend the party when they can’t relax & have a drink because they have a big match the next day where they could be alcohol tested. The club have had a whole year to organise the party & plan it for when they know its very likely there will be a match the next day clueless !!!!! The words pi55 up & brewery come to mind.

Have to agree that the racing wasn't the best tonight, there were races where the riders were closely bunched together but there just wasn't anything out wide, anyone trying to get some drive to go round their opponent went backwards. Odd that the track was hardly graded tonight when most of the time folk moan about the tractor racing, thought it was crying out for a spiking and some water but there you go. Decent meeting in terms of the scores throughout though and great news about 2023. Also pleasing to see how Jenkins has progressed this year and his last couple of scores might make one or two eat their words.

Just en-route to Berkshire so I thought I would give my thoughts on last night's action. Bar the one incident mentioned above clarifying what happened as we entered the stadium it was a fun evening for us 'Bar Bandits' and 'Gladiators on tour'. The simple fact of the matter was Poole gated in every heat and we didn't and that was the difference. We thoroughly enjoyed Aaron Summers' heat win in 14 and duly celebrated as if we won the match! To be fair to the whole team, everyone gave 100% but sadly we came up against a fired up Pirates side who outclassed us on the night and gave a masterclass in gating. My views on the entertainment differ slightly to Steve's view in the fact other than Summers, there was very little passing and plenty FTG (Which Plymouth get pelters for every week...). On the whole, we came, we made a lot of noise (Respectfully), we had plenty of fun and laughs and we'd like to think the home fans enjoyed our visit. We certainly got a lot of smiles and claps as we gave off our renditions of: "Three Little Birds... Garry don't worry...about a thing... Every little thing... is gonna be alright..." and finally as we left the stadium.. "61-29 we're gonna win 61-29..." on our way out of the stadium to make our way home. All we are, before people get the wrong impression are a group of 12-15 people who love sport and are passionate about the side, yes we like a drink but we know our limits and we don't ever want to cross the line, we don't seek to cause offence or to make any fellow speedway supporter uncomfortable, hence why we tailor our songs to be family friendly and to get a few laughs. We promised to be loud and proud and we were. There was a lovely gesture from Garry and the boys to come over to us at the end and thank us for our support. We will still be there on Tuesday night getting behind the team. Over turning a 30 point disadvantage will almost be a tad tricky but we will try our best and end the season on a positive note.

I have to say that moving away from Oxford some 17 plus years ago I haven't been to a speedway since as the nearest, I guess, would be Sheffield (?). I would expect more than just 15 heats (?) for my money and when i would have to take into account petrol costs (especially nowadays) it just doesn't add up for me.

Really feel for those Plymouth fans . The team at the start of the season was awesome and if it had stayed fit I reckon they could have gone all the way. Always next year gladiators and abit more luck you never know.

Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting FB ROYNON SIGNS UP Adam Roynon is the latest rider to agree to join us for the Stuart Robson Farewell Meeting at Redcar on 1st October Roynon who started the season with the Bears moved over the Scunthorpe during the season, and asked Stuart when they met at the Birmingham v Coventry challenge a few weeks back how plans were going and Robbo was only too happy to ask him if he wanted a skid “Was good to bump into Royno at the challenge match the other week when I was on the spanners for Luke Crang and we got talking about the meeting and at that point I thought yeah let’s get him in. With the end of season playoffs and injuries occurring it it was great to hear someone willing to ride and we go back a fair way with our Coventry days so it is great to have him involved” said Robbo

The kids summer holidays should almost be a festival of speedway, as many meetings should be crammed in as possible. As others have said having outstanding fixtures in the middle of September in a six team league is unforgivable. I don't know who but somebody needs to grab British speedway by the scruff of the neck and run it properly, it's a shambles.

There is currently an acute shortage of riders in the U.K. for every rider in the U.K. that doubles-up that's one rider short. I can easily see 6 double-up riders retiring @ the end of this season that's 12 team places alone! Any rider currently riding in Poland but not the U.K. will require big bucks to do so in 2023 so I don't see that as the solution. We must encourage U.K. talent to take up the sport & welcome our commonwealth cousins. The double-up situation should only be used as the last resort, riders may love it but for all other reasons it's a disaster for our once great sport.
