  1. The palace can mourn for as long as they want, life for others goes on. Don't see why there should be "mourning". Surely people would rather have their lives remembered by "celebration". A minute's applause before every sporting occasion would be enough, or a tribute before every match. Cancel events the day of the funeral if people want to pay respect that way.

  2. Total over reaction. Cancel everything the day of the funeral and a minutes silence is enough.

  3. Completely disagree, massive over reaction IMO.

  4. Thanks, glad someone said it!! I'm 42 now. Started going with my nan and grandad when I was 3 and was a regular until 2019. Both my grandparents aren't around anymore but going to the speedway with them are probably the best memories I have as a kid so to think of it closing forever is upsetting. My own kids and nieces and nephews have got into speedway because of me taking them to the Abbey. Unfortunately I'm in the group of people who have been going for decades but know it won't happen. But until they stop BS'ing us and putting off the inevitable with lies then people like myself, Orion and Hagonshocker will keep moaning about Tommo, Gaming and SBC. They have all played a part in getting to the bad situation we are now in.

  5. There might be a few who have supported Swindon for decades, and think it might happen. Others might still have hope it might happen. Some will hope until it's over. And then theres you.

  6. Suspended from riding during the months where no riding takes place anyway. Wow, that's a great "punishment", isn't it? It's about as meaningful as being banned from riding every day between 11pm and 7am.

  7. There we go. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

  8. I drove past on the way to golf today and I would say putting the grandstand together is an optimistic claim. It looked to me like they had moved the units so they could clear the old main car park in time for Taylor Wimpey to start building the houses they aren't allowed to build until we have a fully functioning stadium! I sound cynical but I'm just being realistic.

  9. You are pretty clueless about this whole thing, aren’t you? Suggest you educate yourself on who Queen Elizabeth 2nd was, and why it’s wall to wall coverage and will continue to be. She was not a celebrity. Your dismissal of her with a minutes silence and let’s get on with life shows just how little you know or understand.

  10. Once again the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) have created a PR disaster for British Speedway. Secrecy over such serious matters is not acceptable. What sort of role models are they creating when findings of riders "taking banned substances" are not made public. The decisions on punishments seem entirely arbitrary...... surely bans should be stipulated for a number of fixtures rather than some timeframe over the close season? I cannot help but recall an English International rider who was banned for a season for merely riding around a lap the wrong way. Seems drug offences in Speedway are viewed much more lightly.

  11. Sports should be stopped in a period of mourning its out of respect for the Queen that this is happening, we all know that in Scotland the Queen dying to a certain teams supporters would be a chance to sing hatred about our beloved monarch QE the 2nd, I have heard stories about in the rep of ireland they were cheering when the announcement of the death of the Queen came about, it sickens me that in today's society people still spout hatred, our Queen dedicated all but 26 years of her life to the role she was destined to have, to me it's a great loss not only to the UK but the whole commonwealth and the whole world to lose the greatest monarch to have ever lived, no doubt the anti royals and hatred speaking idiots will take great pleasure in taking the day off work for the queen's funeral, talk about two faced, if you hate the royal family and are happy to spread hatred then tell your bosses that you will work on the day of the funeral.Sport is secondary in this time of mourning.

  13. Average rigging has gone on since the sport started, the only real argument is to make all official matches count towards GSA, league, all cups and play offs etc, the more matches that count the less an average can be manipulated. Thats why it’s interesting that the BSPL have this year decided to reduce the amount that matches that count towards an average. No explanation has been provided for this so everyone can draw their own conclusions as to why it’s been done.

  14. They really need to make the full findings public. That answers the questions with facts. They probably won't and that does the Sport no good. Plenty of issues in the past that have either been swept under the carpet and in to the long grass, or penalties reported but no full explanation.

  15. Like a lot of people on the planet he doesn't talk work outside of work. I find it quite human rather than not interested. Troy's had a lot of problems with engines this year and has spent a lot of money trying to get them right for him. He'll be the first to admit that when he gets the right engines performing he's as good as they come, but when they are not doing what he needs them to do he struggles. Every rider has their plusses and minuses, when he's good he's very good, when he's bad, he's bad. The perception is that he doesn't care. That's wrong, but I understand why people think it. I've known many riders over the years who can make themselves look "all action" and trying really hard, when in reality they are not. Troy isn't one of them. If he's struggling for performance you'll see it, if he's flying, you'll know it. He's not everyone's cup of tea, I think he's been good value this year on a 5.5 despite his problems. I totally get the frustration because he can be world class on his day, so why can't he be like that every day? If he knew how to be like that do you really think he wouldn't do it?

  19. I do think that the exact nature of the offence and the determination of the punishment are of legitimate public interest. Edit: On reflection, there could be medical reasons as to why some of the details are confidential. An individual's medical condition and prescribed medication are not for public consumption.

  20. The bid was less, even though we racked about a lot of points for community the decision purely came down to cash in certain members of the councils eyes. Seen as a short term fix for the councils funds.

  23. Why? The Official Announcement came out at around 06:30pm. The meetings were due to start at 07:30pm, most or many would have already set off for the meeting, so would caused a lot of inconvenience. If the announcement was made 3 or 4 hours earlier then maybe I would say cancel the meeting fair enough.

  24. An update on a member of my family who did start out having a go at speedway at Isle of Wight and Iwade. Now got his eyes on a different sport, but maybe if he is ever famous might drop a word in for the sport . Remember reading his mum had nothing but nice things to say about Barry

  25. That's your opinion if she 'deserves more' . In mine she deserves a nice send off and that's it . Let people celebrate her legacy by enjoy British speedway . Bet she would appreciate that more than everyone supposedly mourning

  30. While I agree that better tracks would be a bonus, the GP for me is about the whole experience, I’ve been to Prague GP four times, not really seen a decent GP but it’s been a fantastic Fan experience , been to around 20+polish GPs and being in Toruń town after the GP is an experience in itself and that’s been the case for Cardiff too but in the last 7or so years they are getting imo less about the fan experience,, I get it’s not my money but for the cost of a free ticket they could get speedway vendors to create a whole speedway village around the fan zone, get bands involved (remember richie Webb’s band) just make the whole thing an event even before you get in the stadium

  31. Agreed. It does very much depend on the sporting events in question and how high profile they are. The bigger the event, the less likely it is to take place. For speedway, this weekend and the day of the funeral seems about right.

  33. Oxford has been one of the success stories this season and, by golly, speedway needs a few of those! Not sure what the "lack of medical cover" was all about however let us wallow in something positive when there is so much negativity within the sport...only wish that I could make a meeting at Cowley. Both my brothers have attended (on seperate occasions) and had nothing but praise.

  34. But the history behind that state is that when League Cup fixtures were included in riders averages there were several high profile examples of average rigging to allow team changes that gave some teams what was perceived to be an unfair advantage. You can argue for inclusion ,or against, but it has to be accepted that neither will give ideal outcomes 100% of the time.

  36. There is currently an acute shortage of riders in the U.K. for every rider in the U.K. that doubles-up that's one rider short. I can easily see 6 double-up riders retiring @ the end of this season that's 12 team places alone! Any rider currently riding in Poland but not the U.K. will require big bucks to do so in 2023 so I don't see that as the solution. We must encourage U.K. talent to take up the sport & welcome our commonwealth cousins. The double-up situation should only be used as the last resort, riders may love it but for all other reasons it's a disaster for our once great sport.

  41. Translated from Sportowefakty article Miedziński leaves hospital in Zielona Góra. We know the next plans In the coming hours, Adrian Miedziński, after almost two weeks of stay, will leave the hospital in Zielona Góra and will be transferred to the facility in Toruń. There he will begin the next stage of the fight to restore full fitness after a serious accident. After a strong head hit against the track during the semi-final match in eWinner 1. Liga for seven days, he was in a heavy coma. On Saturday, Adrian Miedziński woke up and immediately surprised the doctors. Not only did the 37-year-old recognize his loved ones, but to his father's first question he replied: "You haven't changed anything". Currently, the condition of the slag is improving every day. The most important information is that Miedziński can move his limbs, and he can even take a few steps on his own. The competitor already recognizes doctors and is able to establish basic contact with them. As for the first days after such a serious injury and a long coma, the condition is quite optimistic. The player has already been transferred from the intensive care unit to the neurosurgery unit, which means that the life threatening condition has passed and the player is no longer in danger. In the hospital in Zielona Góra, the resident of Toruń will spend only a dozen or so hours, because in the coming days a transport to the hospital in Toruń is planned, where the player will undergo intensive rehabilitation. The key now will be to restore the associative function and full awareness. Although the first news is very optimistic, it may still be very difficult, if not impossible, to recover from before the accident. Doctors, however, believe that the rider's good health condition immediately after waking up may indicate that the speedway rider may be able to restore even 80-90 percent. original efficiency. Such a scenario was mentioned in an interview for WP Sportowefakty by an authority in the field of neurology, Prof. Konrad Rejdak. - If the patient wakes up, opens his eyes and makes verbal contact with the environment, it will be an excellent signal and a simple path to rehabilitation. If the patient hears and follows even the simplest commands, such as finger cramps, there will be a chance to undertake active rehabilitation, which will significantly accelerate the recovery process - commented the president of the Polish Neurological Society, Prof. Konrad Rejdak. Ultimately, Miedziński's condition turned out to be even better than expected by a recognized neurologist. However, it is still difficult to estimate how large the changes in the brain resulted from the strong impact on the track.

  49. If Poole can do Sunday afternoons, then the CLRC should have been run on one rather than a Wednesday night. 6 men teams with a reserve getting two rides in separate reserve races which don't count to the meeting total. This was the format used circa 1990 in the National Series.
