It seems to me that trying to place any firm parameters on rain-offs is futile. Local knowledge is the vital thing - stadium access, track conditions, machinery available (and if it can actually get on the track) all point to what might be possible. Add in weather forecasts and the financial considerations I outlined above. In the end the buck stops with the Promoter, who has to make a decision* - right or wrong. I’ve postponed meetings that could in the end have been raced, and not postponed ones that led ultimately to either a very late call off or an abandonment. The one thing I hope we all agree on is that in the current climate no Promoter can afford to incur all the fixed costs of a meeting without a high level of assurance the meeting can be staged. * Prior to the arrival of the referee who then assumes the role of decision maker.5 points

Yes but you know the bspl will screw it up somehow, one female rider will be unavailable and they will get bomber in drag to guest in place of her4 points

No it doesn't. It just needs common sense, effort and will to get the meeting on when possible without excuses that don't stack up. When you're not doing the organising and paying the bills though then logic and solutions usually come easy. I wish they'd called this off at 10am in the morning. I also gave £50 to the collection but I thought that it was collection to take the mic off the bloke making all of that noise pollution up to about 7.10, as well as locking the DJ in the bog for the evening!3 points

Switched it on at heat 8 - more entertaining speedway then quite a few meetings I've watched this season.2 points

Yet again the inside was the place to be if you made the gate with very little chance of anyone making an outside pass. I am sure Kings Lynn were delighted, Not sure Peterborough fans would be of the same opinion. Fast race times generally mean a grippy white line, a trapping contest and a follow the leader from start to finish.2 points

As all three Ekstraliga matches will be at the same time, as Racers and Royals said, Kergel's ucoz link will be the place to find them all. The VK links we will have to wait and see, but they obviously will likely only focus on one of the 3 meetings. Once they come live, I'll add them.2 points

When I arrived at the track around 5pm, the track staff were just getting access to it as it had been too wet to do anything with, the surface was bladed off and they all restarted laying a fresh surface with additional new material, once relaid it looked quite good but very grippy, once the riders and management s looked at it, it was all bladed off again, difficult to imagine who requested that. But that left it slick with pretty much nothing left and a trappers paradise, times were good but the racing was complete shyte and didn’t suit anyone on the home side other than Basso who was riding with a shoulder injury. It certainly didn’t suit Bomber and with Andersen and Nicholls on their usual steeds it was very predictable which way this match would go. For the record I still don’t think Lynn will make the Play offs2 points

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery? .......poor form once again from the mafia, at least make reference to the work started by IOW rather than trying to pass off as thier own idea. Embarrassing once again by those in charge.2 points

There lies the problem as i think its better if they ride the bikes myself,2 points

My immediate thought was "isn't Barry Bishop doing this already and with far more passion and sincerity than the BSPL could ever muster"2 points

Criminal to not use Roynon in heat 14! He even arguably should’ve been out in heat 15! Strange to give him the harder heat 13 though when Rowe rode in heats 10 & 14.1 point

Yes , if Scunthorpe gets a point at Berwick redcar needs a draw at least at Plymouth1 point

Great match. Would love to see the likes of Doyle, Zmarszlik and Bewley on these little 250s..1 point

The promotions had a meeting on the day of the pairs at which they decided to scrap the one off final and each have a home leg. The sensible thing to do would have been to arrange dates at that meeting. As the one off final was scheduled for Sunday 4th September you would have they would arrange meetings over that weekend. But no doubt some riders have Polish commitments1 point

Divide the cost of the ticket by the expected number of home meetings that were covered by the ticket and then multiply this number by the amount of meetings you didn't get to see and this will be roughly what you are owed 180 ticket say ÷ 12 meetings =15 quid per meeting... and if there were 6 home meetings left you are due 90 quid back as a refund... I don't know the exact figures / cost / meetings but it will give you an idea... Beware though because if there isn't enough money in the pot to pay the debtors in full the liquidators / administrator may only have enough funds to pay out say 50 pence in the pound so you will only get half of what you will be actually owed... or in the case we had where we got 0.02 pence in the pound... in that scenario you would only get £1.80 back against the 90 quid (ish) you lost... Supporters have already found other things to do... I would say approximately 20,000 of them since 2000 or so.... When circa 40,000 a week would attend, now it's around 20,000 tops I would say... Doesnt help itself in any way shape or form by its Mickey Mouse rules and administration... Nor does its self policing do it any favours... Then you add in all the adhoc call offs due to all sorts of wide and various reasons, which often make no sense to fans who often will also suspect 'other motives' given it isn't unusual to have 'strange occurrences' happen on nights when star riders may fail to turn up or get injured the night before elsewhere... It simply reaps what it sows.. Hence the harvest is poor year after year... When will the famine hit? I suppose is the big question...1 point

I spoke to a rider in the same race and he said it was a reckless move and dangerous, if he came off the throttle he would of straightened up and gone through the fence. Anyone who knows anything about speedway would agree. Why try to defend the indefensible? I know you like a wind up but that could of been alot more serious!1 point

Unfortunately those days are gone just like Coventry racetrack. The winning rider is the champion, the record books will show that, means more to Sam Masters than the actual trophy and cements him as the best rider in the Championship league.1 point

I remember when this used to be an even bigger meeting at Coventry on a Saturday night and it would attract 7-8000 fans from around all the tracks! Also the winning rider used to get a new bike/engine... last night they got a lump of plastic1 point
-
I remember when this used to be a big meeting at sheffield on a sunday and it would attract 3000 fans from around all the tracks. With every rider in the field doubling up/down its just another meeting to riders, 20 years ago the riders would have given their right arm to win this meeting.1 point

Would get more fans if it was held at the weekend ........ why do the BSPL insist on midweek for our big meetings1 point
