  1. And so British Speedway trundles on in it's minimal existence.

  2. As much as I admire Bomber, and yes he is having a stellar season in the UK, I feel comparison with Zmarzlik is a tad ambitious.

  3. Facts are- Brennan and Flint are official Meeting Reserves for SGP on Saturday so contractually obligated to be at Friday Practice 3 pm Impossible therefore to be at Oxford Also Brennan is wild card for SGP 2 on Sunday. Very unlucky to miss out on SGP2 Series pick in his last chance year. A good display either Event will be seen and noted in all the right places for his career. Puts the CL Pairs into perspective. Lay off both lads, key part of British Speedway future and deserve this chance at Cardiff. Both done thousands of miles in age groups round Europe for peanuts.

  5. Ok, lets look at probably the daftest fixture ever ridden in British Speedway, and that takes some beating... Pretend Plymouth vs Pretend Birmingham, both teams made up of riders pretending to replace a rider pretending to ride for a pretend club: Pretend Plymouth: 1. Richie Worral: Kings Lynn & Leicester pretending to be Ben Barker: Plymouth & Ipswich (+Wetherspoons) 2. R/R for Alfie Bowtell: Plymouth & Kent 3. Lewis Kerr: Kings Lynn (at the time) & Redcar pretending to be Ed Kennett, who was pretending to be a Speedway rider 4. Danyon Hume: Ippo (at the time?) & Glasgow pretending to be MPT: Plymouth & Peterborough 5. Josh Pickering: Kings Lynn & Edinburgh pretending to be Hans Andersen: Plymouth & Peterborough 6. Ben Morley: Plymouth & Kent 7. Harry McGurk: Plymouth & Belle Vue Pretend Birmingham: 1. Kye Thomson: Edinburgh pretending to be Claus Vissing, who was pretending to be a Birmingham rider 2. Jacob Hook: Edinburgh pretending to be Josh Auty? 3. R/R for Stefan Nielsen: Birmingham... but wasn't there 4. Broc Nicol: Glasgow pretending to be Ashley Morris? 5. Justin Sedgmen: Birmingham & Sheffield 6. Lee Complin: Armadale pretending to be James Shanes: Birmingham & Mildenhall 7. James Pearson: Birmingham! Woo Hoo! an actual Birmingham rider! ... I'm going for a lie down

  6. No but perhaps Plymouth should/could have arranged some level of cover even if it was an unattached 3 pointer

  12. So 3 days before the event no lineups announced. I have a ticket but am now having serious doubts whether to bother. Meant to be top two from each club.

  13. I think if Flint had been riding, Berwick would have been red hot favourites!

  14. If Gary May wants to beat Poole may be he should pay for his select Team for the night. Nothing in it for Plymouth, been there twice, best to save man and machine for far more important matches ahead. Nice night out for the Centurions

  17. SGP practice is on Friday at 3pm, I'd imagine they both want to get as much time as possible on the track at Cardiff, especially for Brennan who is riding in the main SGP2 meeting on the Sunday. They'll both get much more out of being at Cardiff for 3 days than riding in a Championship pairs meeting...

  18. His test was non negative. Which is a diplomatic way of saying it was positive. If it was inconclusive he would have been asked to take another test. Nobody can come on here & defend Ben , he broke the rules (knowingly or unknowingly) so now must serve his punishment.

  20. He did claim at Glasgow last Sunday that he was hoping to ride in the pairs depending on how much movement he had in it. Personally I’d rather be left it till the leagues are back in action.

  21. What a ridiculous situation. Here we have probably the most entertaining rider left in British Speedway, which everyone knows is" scraping along the bottom",who's future is being questioned because he scores too many points.

  23. Pretty sure his chain coming off was his on doing to as he leaned on Fricke,,, as that is when it seemed to come off,,,,, As for Cols comment about not being breath taking,,,,, I'm pretty sure any Ipswich fan would give an arm and leg to Watch speedway like that every week,,,, I thought it was pretty awesome with that speed and noise and watching riders swapping lines for fun.Credit to Tungate,,, he tried his best and raced the track as its meant to be raced,,,,

  24. Too many guests? Surely, one rider from another side is too many. But when it guests to three or four... That's why speedway now is ruined, as too many riders are now trumped up guests and have more than one side. The doubling up/down rule is surely just a wheeze to operate guests for a lack of advanced planning. Watching speedway with guests is like those Top of the Pops albums in the 70s, sold as the proper thing but in which the songs weren't even covered by the proper artists.

  27. Can't help but think that if they told you what was going on months in advance regarding other events, celebraties attending etc, that fans could be attracted long ago rather than 4 days before the event and nobody really knows anything. But then again, it wouldn't be speedway would it...

  28. If that's 7 in total max will get an average as playoffs count towards them. No team can make changes after the 28th of August as that's the cut off date. Decision is do Leicester drop mickie Simpson as he moves to reserve at next meeting as max Perry goes to number 2. Do team James take the opportunity and get an average for next season. Its 4 meetings and it kicks in cups playoffs league all are officially counted.

  30. Absolutely this. You could easily argue that if a wedding takes precedence then whether the NL claims to be professional or not, there’s no justification to charge fans to attend! But regardless, Plymouth could have arranged a 3.00 rider so at least there were 4 riders races at a bare minimum.

  31. Yes they do but with Mark Lemon in charge, disaster is never far away!

  32. Absolutely right that Flint and Brennan should be at Cardiff practicing and getting as much out of the event as they can.

  33. Not sure about flint but Brennan is either 3rd or 4th in our averages depending on who you believe as him and ulle have same figure. So if wasn't cook and basso as our 1 and 2 wouldn't that be more of a pi$$ take to the public?

  41. I think one of the reasons that BV have been so dominate at home this year, is that the weather has meant that the track has been consistent most of the year and the BV have got well dialed in. Plus with Brennan & Blodhorn improving all the time we have a very solid team at home. Losing away by a few points does not matter that much when you are scoring 60 points at home. The one thing that could could effect the home form is, if in the Play-Offs ( BV should now get there) the track conditions are a lot different to now, as later in the year we get a lot more rain.

  46. There the results out come would have been the same .IMO Think the Final should have been originally contested as a Home leg for each Team, sure in would have attracted bigger crowd than a one off Final at a neutral track.( which funnily enough Bates has an interest).Still that was probably too logical.!

  49. I'm generally not adversed to guests but for me the majority of the team i.e. 4 riders should be from your club, 2 guests + 1 R/R. Anything more than that should not be run as an "official" fixture imo.

  50. The best deal was to wait for the July GSAs and do a one-for-one replacement. A redeclaration would have decimated the team. On this basis, a rider with an average up to 4.53 was needed. If people don't like Max, perhaps they could suggest alternatives within that average constraint?
