Ellis has no moral fibre in him. He was well beaten tonight and should have declined to accept the wild card when riders far better then him were more worthy of the nomination. He has no conscience and seemingly will screw anyone. I hope he can sleep at night.8 points
-
Why? Ellis actually won a completed meeting and didn't get the chance he earned because Cardiff didn't happen. It's the best outcome of a crap situation for me, and I don't have a preference towards any of them particularly.7 points

A sensible call The place is for the reigning British Champion which is Adam as there was no result tonight Plus he didn't get his deserved chance last year6 points
-
With Eurosport starting broadcast at 7pm no reason 1st heat shouldn’t be starting dead on 7.30pm and then get on with it.6 points

Some of the reactions on here are just brilliant!!! Imagine thinking Harris deserves another go at a GP!! Kelvin and Crump were making me want to throw up in heat 1 with the Harris love in!! He wouldn't score a point at Cardiff! Brennan can feel a little hard done by but his time will come and he will surely be No17 Good decision on Ellis and really the only logical choice despite some idiots on here.. people calling him a scumbag need to take a long look in the mirror5 points
-
You're not alone tonight are you? Worried you'll do something you regret. Calm down! Oh no, I wouldn't want a once in a lifetime opportunity, give it to someone else please. Bomber and Brennan rode better in the 3 heats, Ellis is the current British Champion which both of those riders can't say. Has the sport let itself down again for the millionth time... yes, will they learn from the mistakes, No.5 points
-
No one was a winner tonight - Bewley, Brennan and Harris will obviously be disappointed, but the real losers again were the poor spectators who had to wait for the inevitable result in the rain, and most of all the sport itself (again). How can they not have hard and fast rules in place for a meeting called off after 12 heats, it's not like it's the first time it's ever happened. What would a casual tv viewer have thought of that I wonder?5 points

I don't see a problem with it, because young Adam is still the current British Champion...5 points

More racing in four heats tonight than four meetings at Vojens last week. Tom Brennan really does look the real deal.5 points

I called this before the start, Ellis to Cardiff and British Championship rerun in October. It's the common sense decision and hopefully it won't be on Eurosport and will be on a Saturday night so I'll be more inclined to actually attend. What is unacceptable though is the inability of anybody to make a decision that I reached half an hour before the start. Again the fans are at the very bottom of anybody's concerns. Which is pretty much par for the course with the current and every other regime. Eurosport running their show as if no rain was forecast at all, despite everybody saying rain is forecast didn't help things either4 points

Charles Wright never got a chance due to the pandemic did he? Absolute shambolic decision.4 points

They were locked in the room trying to find a rule that would of declared a Poole rider as the winner unfortunately one couldn't be found4 points

Thinking about it, Adam didn’t get the opportunity last year with no Cardiff, so perhaps it’s not so bad a call.4 points

Don’t think that is correct,Drug testing is for everything not specific substances,my daughter was active in Athletics and it was standard Doping tests that are administered.Even for Asthma inhalers you needed an exemption Certificate or faced a ban4 points

What we could do is sell tickets for the price of a McDonalds meal and give out a few freebies and tell the media it was a sell out. We should also promote British speedway as being the same standard as the Polish Extraliga and if anyone dares say any different we call them uneducated ignorant oinks. Seemed to work well for the Women's Euro's4 points

Josh Pickering in for someone suspended for breaching the rules ? not sure I agree with that one ?4 points

That has been the attitude from various promoters for many years "If you don't like it don't come". The issue now is that large numbers of fans have taken their advice .4 points

What a ridiculous comment, that Ellis is a "scumbag" for accepting the wild card. Is Bewley a "scumbag" for accepting a GB spot ahead of Kolodziej, Smolinski or Lebadevs who scored more in the GP Challenge? Is Celina Liebmann a "scumbag" for accepting a SON2 wild card despite scoring less points than THIRTEEN other non-qualifiers in the qualifying rounds? Is Tom Brennan a "scumbag" for accepting a SON squad position despite having a lower average in both the Prem & Champ than Charles Wright, Richard Lawson, Richie Worrall, Kyle Howarth, Danny King & Steve Worrall?3 points

The decision was a perfectly pragmatic one , and better than many made by sporting bodies (consider F1 earlier this year and football's assorted arbitrary points deductions under financial fair play rules) What WAS shocking was the length of time it took to reach and communicate the decision. (One I came up with before the meeting even started).3 points
-
Because the meeting as been abandoned and no result called Ellis is still British champion so he goes to Cardiff . Not ideal I grant you but he was unlucky last year with Cardiff being cancelled but very lucky this year pity it took so long for someone to inform the fans .us speedway supporters were also unlucky tonight because before the rain there was some bloody good racing .one day i am going to have to pop across the Pennines to a meeting3 points

That is not what was said. The said they had to get the FIM to confirm Ellis as the wildcard for Cardiff, not decide it for them. But there is no rule that would be fair to decide a meeting in this situation where you have a three-way tie on points and count back, and where they have not all raced each other. But they have thought up a rule, you either draw lots or a rerun. For me if you have the option of a rerun there is no other decision to be made. As for the wildcard, maybe they did draw lots? All we know is they said they chose Ellis and the players agreed. The farce is how long it took them to tell people what was happening, because they did not need to keep everyone else hanging around while they decide on who will go to Cardiff then get it confirmed. We could all have read the tweet or whatever later, I doubt anyone in Manchester cared that much about hearing it over the PA.3 points

In the main Regs everything that mentions the British final regarding 12 heats it`s followed by IF NOT RERUN- that is the get out.3 points
-
That's the farce, if someone had 9 that would've been it, champion crowned no re-run and they would be off to Cardiff. Because they've not thought of a rule should this situation occur they've come up with some total cop and begged the FIM for help3 points
-
Wow, he's not killed anyone. It was said the riders were in agreement with it, maybe some weren't but either way I wouldn't blame Ellis, even though I don't rate him that highly as rider, he won it last year though and, based on tonight's situation where it was impossible to call a winner, deserves the wildcard in my opinion.3 points

For all these people saying its a crap decision.... Please come up with a solution which doesn't include rerunning before Cardiff as that clearly isn't a viable option. I'm all ears.....3 points

I think that’s a fair decision for Adam to go to Cardiff based on being the current British Champion3 points

Restaging British final Adam Ellis 21 Champ who never had SGP chance gets wildcard Fair play I thinks both counts right3 points

How can you name anybody a British Champion after this. The count back is a mess !!! Re-run the meeting would be the only logical choice but speedway is speedway and rules are rules.3 points

I think youre100% correct if you were referring to the testing procedures used by elite sports. Those sports testing for steroids and anabolic drugs and masking drugs. Soccer, Cycling. Rugby, Athletics, Weight Lifting, etc. I don't believe that Speedway is testing to that level or type of substance. I believe its more of a recreational drug and alcohol urine test. There have been examples of complete innocence like Kyle Howarth due to prescription drugs Plymouth PR was very specific about prescription drugs Barker was taking for known and documented injuries. They must have evidence of those prescriptions and GP or Hospital evidence. The B Test in this case should be able to distinguish the amount and type of substances genuinely in prescribed medicines and genuinely in illegal recreational drugs. Got little to do with WADA type steroid tests although it is under the same umbrella of Sport. Like others have said innocent until proven guilty. The fact he took the test rather than scarper like Steve Boxhall says something too.3 points
-
It’s not overly complex, surely? Non-negative result = Precautionary suspension of licence, pending findings of the B sample. As such, presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Of course Gladiators entitled to use a guest facility. Of course he retains the clubs support. Would the forum prefer a firing squad at this stage?3 points

The BSPA had the very large chunk of Dosh, during the early sky years...... sadly no vision. The sport just makes me so cross should be one of the best sports out there.3 points

i'm not sure it's the ticket prices that have put people off Cardiff this year, i believe it's the extortionate accomodation prices3 points

GB Speedway Team just got a silver medal in the SoN, Poland were 6th out of 7, GB U21's got a bronze medal in SoN2, when Sweden having finished last won't even be in next years event even with the talent they have. i think GB have done themselves proud3 points

Surely the Plymouth promotion will be handing out free pens for those with a programme as they will be writing all night. This meeting could set a new record for guests and good old R/R.3 points

We must remember that the powers that be run meetings for the benefit of a few riders and not the fee paying public who are basically given what is on offer on a take it or leave basis. Shame that the promoters show so little regard for those who turn out to watch what is sometimes dross and treat them which such contempt. I agree, if this was held on a Friday or Saturday more supporters would travel as they do to the GPs and surely the host stadium would make more money. Says it all when I think it was Tungate who was recently in the Star bemoaning the way speedway was run in this country because it did not suit the overseas riders who would coming flocking back if it changed. U K speedway can neither afford or should give in to rider demands and should plough its own furrow starting by allowing clubs to race on days that suit the business not the rider. Clubs should sign riders who want to commit to British speedway and not want to ride simply to top up the coffers when they have a lull in Poland or elsewhere. Sadly nothing will change and in a few years it will be into single figures the tracks left running and they will only survive if riders are part time and have jobs elsewhere.3 points
