A good entertaining meeting with some exciting talents on show - future looks bright for Czechia and Latvia on that showing if the likes of Gusts and Kvech can kick on. Adding to the likes of Salonen for Finland. Concerning future for Sweden - where is their next GP rider coming from? None of their 3 looked like potential world beaters or special talents. Positive outcome for GB but like the senior team, felt the body language on the podium said a lot about the mood in the camp - Flint particularly looking very hard done by to have gone all the way for no rides! Questionable decision on gates and lack of Flint rides - why pay TMs if you are just going to go as per programme (and GB have 3!). Looking forward to tomorrow but for the pinnacle of the sport and ‘new era’ the coverage is at times embarrassing - can somebody please give Kelvin and Chris a calculator or programme… it isn’t difficult to follow and professional commentators should be able to tell us the implications of a race! Secondly they should have some knowledge of the riders to add a bit of colour to their commentary - “I don’t know a lot about him” isn’t a great look with all the detail easily available online. And finally, Abi… please ask one question at a time with simpler words when speaking to riders who don’t speak a word of English… the poor Poles had a glazed look as she asked multiple questions in one!

Been shockingly bad crowds and a shockingly bad track devoid of passing,... no comparison to Belle Vue last year. But proud of Dan Bewley and Robert Lambert. Terrific effort without arguably the GB No.1. World Champions last year, runners up this year. And bronze medal in the U-21. Not too shabby at all. (And of course the new world champions would be British if their grandfathers hadn't been criminals).

At least team managers can't get anything wrong.

With respect to Mr Ford, his comment that he "only received Birmingham's team on Thursday pm," should be construed as the final team. He would have earlier received details of the anticipated team in line with the regulations, but which would have included the two riders who were injured in last Wednesday's meeting, Morris and Nielsen, and who were not certain of being fit enough to ride last night. Perhaps those who so gleefully predicted that "Birmingham would "struggle to reach 20" might feel a little more gracious this morning - although I rather doubt it! The reality was that despite all of the problems, Birmingham played a major role in providing the crowd with an entertaining meeting which included plenty of good cut and thrust racing which regardless of the final scoreline (distorted to a degree by Poole's three successive 5-1's from the last three races,) is what the punters wanted to watch. Those who so blandly listed the riders whom THEY would have used as Birmingham's guests, could have no idea of the complexity involved in booking guest riders - especially by promotions so down on their luck as Birmingham have been this season and who are frequently confronted by potential guests who either demand excessive payment for their services or don't particularly fancy the prospect of getting a low score against the strongest team in the Championship, so all credit to the riders who were prepared to accept the bookings offered to them at short notice - especially to those who must have known full well that they had little chance of making an impact in such a tough meeting. Finally, I should say that I have no issue with Poole not wanting to call off the match. To have done so at such short notice would obviously have been highly damaging to their business. Poole thoroughly deserved their win and I wish them and their supporters well for the remainder of the season.

Silver medal minimum, whatever happens in the final Lambert & Bewley have done a wonderful wonderful job

Translation.... We are likely to get a bumper crowd many of whom are just here for the week so don't give one about what teams are put out We'd rather take the cash than have any concern for the integrity of the sport (Unspoken but in mind - if we could’ve sold up we would've plus the stadium may not be here in a couple of years anyway so why worry about the future reputation of the sport)

There tonight horrid crash for Zaine , spoke to riders in the pits after his crash tonight rumours are his throttle side stuck open . Speedy recovery to Zaine and was great to see riders from both teams pulling together while we waited for the air ambulance by collecting Zaine’s equipment and bikes .Different breed speedway riders big respect to all riders tonight and the crowd for there patience and entertainment

Well done Robert and Dan, a great effort. These two are GB's future.. Would have liked to see Dan off gate four in the final though .

In all fairness, you can't blame Poole for wanting to cash in on the tourists and who's only concern is to see some entertainment which they have done. The casual visitor/tourist/fan probably doesn't care less if they see guests or not as long as they see 4 riders come to the tapes. For the avid speedway fan, the guest system is a pain and will always be ridiculed but is a necessary evil. Maybe the only way speedway can survive now is to just have a good entertaining meeting and not get to anal about who belongs to who, a bit like what the IOW do

Gobsmacked that we chose 1&3 in the Final. Not to mention the fact that the Aussies looked very dangerous off 2 and 4, look at GB results through the course of the night... Bewley off gate 3... 0 0 2. Bewley off gate 4... 4 4 4. Surely you have to back Lambert to get over one of Fricke and Holder from gate 2. I really do feel like the team managers have thrown that away big time.

No passing at Poole apparently, someone needs to tell the riders lol

Congrats to the Aussies,also a big well done to GB for topping the charts and ending with a silver medal.Personally i would have chose gates 2 and 4.Bewley flew from gate 4 only a race before the semi final and if the management had watched the semi final the Aussies made some good gates from 2 and 4.But we move on and our young pretenders are starting to look like the real deal.

Kemp crashed on 1st bend in 5th ride so you would think that would have been a reason to bring Leon in. Does Neil Vatcher even watch Championship speedway? Would only have to watch BSN's coverage of the Berwick Poole matches to know Leon is better than Drew.

Don't disagree with that in principle And for balance even if you give Birmingham a month they are unlikely to be returning with a full team another requiring multiple guests and R/R With that in mind it's not a terrible decision for the short term The other part I would bring in from a wider angle is that it shouldn't even be Poole's decision to make. There should be a standard/regulation set for circumstances such as this which is then independently enforced

On the stream it looked like Ulrich dived down the inside of Paco entering bend 3, Paco tried to shut the door but Ulrich was ahead. Then Paco chucked it. No doubt there was contact but that was down to Paco not wanting to concede the lead.

I was disappointed that the senior GB riders didn't bother to attend, unlike the Polish senior squad, to give the GB under 21 boys some advice about the track and set up. I'm sure the young Polish riders appreciated their senior riders giving them advice and encouragement.

2nd place is still very good for GB. Would like to see a rerun of the last race but with GB on gate 2-4 and Bewley on gate 4. Might have been different…..we will never know. Amazing the track held together after 4 meetings and 3 practices within 4 days. Poland 6th (out of 7).

Agree with all that . I said to my wife at the time that I thought Ulrich was a bit naughty there , Thomson did well to stay upright . Shame the atmosphere turned toxic after the heat 15 incident and I hope all the wounded warriors from heat 1 are back racing soon .

Enjoyed last night's meeting. This despite a poor surface to race on. Good to see the Czechs and Latvia doing so well. Kelvin and Chris clearly struggled last night. Much as I wish them well, the difficulty to understand the scoring and the possible ramifications was amateur hour. Instead of banging on how Denmark were in with a chance prior to the last race they should have identified the Latvians situation who - I believe - could only be denied a place in Heat 22 by one possible result. The whole broadcasting team don't seem to grasp that the most important thing is to not finish last rather than to win a heat. For example, in the Final the camera should have been following the race for 3rd not 1st. Not a good look for the sport to have such a poor crowd, lets hope tonight's turn out is better.

Not sure what meeting you were at. !! Paco left no gap, I was at the 4 th bend. Ostrich carried too much speed , dived up the inside where there was no room and wiped him out. Reminded me of a similar Wolbert move on James Grieves at Ashfield in 2011 Scottish Cup which was equally dangerous, and James did not enjoy, or sad to say the Nick Morris move on the same corner that ended Tabakas career. All well and good trying to get your team a point, but not if you might hospitalise your opponent. !

Can’t believe they never gave Flint a race ,he can gate.Kemp didn’t look great IMO.

Funny thing is, people still question all four finalists, and whether they are good enough to be in the GP's. I think that answers the questions...

Correct decision for me

Motorsports competitors need to practice, and they often practice other forms of motorsport in order to keep in trim. What if an athlete pulled a hamstring on a training run? Would you say THAT was ill-advised?

Don't they learn from their mistakes... we had no cover a few years back when Lambert and Cook crashed into each other in the first race. If Tai was injured yesterday why aren't Brennan, Kemp, Flint or anybody replacing him?

Exactly and the rest of the team are going well so no reason to change, Ablitt is a young rider who scores points occasionally which is fine for us. To replace him would have to mean a double change which won't happen.

There seems to be a football element of fans in both camps, which should not be brought to speedway, there has always been banter and rivalry between the 2 teams, I am an old school fan and have applauded the Monarchs when they have won, I wasn't there last night but I have been to meetings that has had an uncomfortable atmosphere between 2 sets of fans

Just spoke to Danny Ford, who addressed why the meeting wasn’t cancelled… (1/3) “We only got the line-up yesterday afternoon from Birmingham. To put it simply, it wasn’t fair to those people who want to come down for holidays and see speedway. “People have gone through expense booking hotels and stuff. While we appreciate it is two very different teams, hopefully we see some good speedway.”

Not giving Leon a go is awful management. Hardly like Kemp was firing from all cylinders all night.
