Great meeting to watch... Atmosphere seemed brilliant. .. Riders giving absolutely everything. .. And a young Brit leading the charge regularly now for his team against world class opponents.. If only we could bottle some of that and bring it over here one day.... Speedway. ...4 points

I am afraid if there isn't enough money in the club to reimburse its customers then Rob Grant will need to get the wallet out and pay, he was happy to take the fans money over the winter when offering a season full of racing so should take the responsibility now Newcastle cant complete the season.4 points

Because they have a team to support that is theirs and they can identify with it. We have 'licorice allsort' teams of double uppers, guests, rider reps etc that have NO team identity whatsoever. Sad times.4 points

and they cant see what they are doing to the sport and themselves junior riders are the best entertainment because you dont know what they are going to do next . i can see good support for the new venture and will support it when its on . looking forward to going to the field of dreams ..3 points

Aye, as long as he's pocketing enough zloty to pay for nappies and the mortgage, who cares about his contractual duties in the UK? Conscious much? I like the news snippet on the Monarchs website. Says something like, "he'll miss KL and Leicester and have treatment this weekend. He won't miss any more meetings." Perhaps they should have gone with, "he'll miss KL and Leicester and have treatment on Saturday before returning to action in sunny Polska 24 hours later." Wonder what sort of reaction that would've gleaned. Poland is famous for its 'gun to the head' policy. Perhaps we should do the same? If Mr Campbell wishes to purchase a rifle, I'm happy to provide the character reference...3 points

Tom Brennan has improved massively this year. Hopefully the progress continues.3 points

And theirs still folk defending grant in the latest fb post. Idiots! seems an impossible task or someone who would need thousands to start speedway again there if theres no stuff to start speedway there! so ‘bleeped’ off but he made loads at the hoppings too!3 points

Maybe Ed should go and spend some time in Poland...? I believe the air over there can heal Speedway riders in particular very quickly...3 points

Saw on Twitter that the Brummies announced he is out for the season. So for remainder of '22 Birmingham will have more guests than a Premier Inn.3 points

Not getting them anytime soon by looks of it, now it depends on sale of club and assets. Originally the money was coming from other businesses.. they really do struggle to remember what they said a few weeks ago Bunch of crooks!3 points

Don’t know why they can’t get the league fixtures finished before we start the Mickey Mouse Cup fixtures .Just going to run into the usual fixture chaos in October.3 points

Or we alternated all the way through the meeting as we have done for the last five seasons.3 points

Agree you can't really promote the sport around those that don't ride here, but i don't blame those riders for looking after themselves and going where the money is.2 points

Next one on the rank... Level headed kid too... Glide path spot on at the moment. .. HL in the Prem next year the next phase,.. Needs to be a bit harder I would say... Lambert has learned that, Bewley slowly getting there the same but needs to speed it up a tad... The future looks good given the excellent talent of those three... Let's hope the UK Speedway promoters can utilise their talents to promote their own sector of the sport.. Bewley and Lambert now Ht 15 regulars in the toughest league in the world.. Not bad that is it?2 points

But the difference between this and other situations you might believe to be similar, is that there is absolutely no doubt that Sam is injured. He has a broken bone in his foot. He is trying to miss as few meetings as possible. If he was not injured, he would not have missed any matches.2 points

Now that was the sport I love2 points

Let’s be fair the rules are just a rough guide and always have been. With MPT and Hans out, Scotty is currently number 32 points

Smart bit of PR that to both set up interest and inform about the weather and track concerns that may have put people off travelling. If they don't know their team yet then best say that than put out something inaccurate. Good promoting.2 points

‘’Cannot believe Poland doesnt follow the UK operating model to be honest given it works so well, definitely missing a trick the Poles aren't they? ‘’ They don’t need to Mike as Poland has one advantage over all other Speedway nations - fanatical support!2 points

Hey guys, I know there's a bit of pee taking going on here, but give Steve a break, he keeps us grass roots supporters up to date in the absence of official statements from Rob's PR department ().2 points

I have had a private message to confirm it was indeed the referee that broke the equipment It was all his fault for pressing the wrong buttons or pressing the correct buttons the wrong way There was nothing Sheffield could've done to prevent this unfortunate unforeseeable situation Whatever he did caused such extensive damage that it was assessed by the electrician that "many hours work" would be required to rectify the situation I must say I am rather sceptical and feel that the root cause is rather more likely to have been an out dated no longer fit for purpose control panel (unless of course the ref savagely beat the system with a sledgehammer! )2 points

There didn't seem to be any reason in particular other than no-one could believe Troy Batchelor scored 13 points!2 points

Also if our house was in order over here then Lambert, Bewley and others would choose the UK over Sweden as their second league. Wiffy might even be here. Get it run properly with fresh ideas and a new hierarchy and it could happen. Brennan definitely the next one but not sure after that, Rowe doing well in the U24 league but nobody else standing out from the crowd right now.1 point

Pirates to win the Jubilee League coz we av the King! King Danny, God Save the King!1 point

The thing is the Comets were initially very well supported (in both eras) - fans followed Comets both home and away-then the west Cumbrians began losing interest, quite rapidly in fact. And it's thinking of how fickle, yes the folk around here can be exactly that - Fickle, it's same with RL... Therefore it's probably a bit risky to serve up such as National League racing and expect large attendances - ok yes for a couple or so meetings. But my lifelong experiences as a faithful Comet make me feel worried if NL is used per se.............just my thoughts guys, I'll be there whatever.1 point

I think the issue was the South African sport boycott as Stefani was based in South Africa in the early 90s. (Same applies to David Steen's reputed birth in Maidstone)1 point

Even the British leagues aren’t daft enough to allow for lucky losers in a 6 team play off in a league of 8 teams1 point

You can only blame the way the sport is run in GB,riders rule the roost. He is not the first or the last to do as they see what is best for themselves. Nothing will change nowadays.1 point

Roughing up the start of the track didn't help Berwick hence why the tractors were out after heat two, always going to be tougher after Friday night, Redcar took full advantage from heat one, good luck to the Bears in the next round, only an outside chance of play offs, and that daft summer, Jubilee thing left, but sure the guys will give it a go .1 point

Berwick`s near impossible task was made all the harder as in the early heats there was an inability to make any decent starts and when that failed an inability to make any passes on what looked to be a very peculiar track where the home riders struggled, in the later races Berwick did at least make a fist of things but by then the meeting and tie was virtually over. Again Berwick didn't have to look far to find their share of bad luck with riders breaking down while in scoring positions etc but Redcar were way better and deserved their win. With a KOC exit Berwick`s target for the rest of the season is a battle not to finish bottom of the Championship table, thankfully they are getting a bit of assistance just at the minute.1 point

Two groups of 5 Teams. (10 heats for each group) S/F 1: Winner Group A v 2nd Group B S/F 2: Winner Group B v 2nd Group A Final: S/F winners. 23 Heats in all. 4-3-2-0 Scoring.1 point

No chance, BOBBATH. No-one could have beaten the all-conquering Hammers that year!1 point

Totally agree. He obviously loves his speedway to still be continuing in the NDL at his age, the CL is too strong for him to move up imo, the league needs weakening next year to encourage riders of his calibre to stick with it and be decent 2nd string/ reserves1 point

Didn’t realise anybody took that chap seriously!?! If you actually read what he says, they haven’t confirmed that there isn’t a curfew at all. He’s just twisted that whichever poor person he had harassed hadn’t provided him with proof it exits… but in all honesty why would they? Sure that they have better things to do than deal with conspiracy theories! It’s not the first time a meeting has had to be abandoned at Owlerton or at other tracks around the country due to a curfew. The last time I remember in Sheffield was against Redcar in 2018 (I think) when Ben Barker had a bad crash. if you read the other comments on Fanpowers’ Facebook page you’ll see various local people confirming that the curfew not only applies to speedway, but also football and the Tramlines gig. if you follow this link - point 12 confirms 10pm as a curfew for all outside events in Sheffield Monday to Saturday. https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/business/city-centre-spaces-policy?fbclid=IwAR0eDj82Eex3pN3d65rmZE43YTvG7ggTVh-dIvPyPJcqtDv25EsL9dOo6OQ&fs=e&s=cl You can’t argue with facts.1 point

I don't think you need have any concerns re. clarity. From my experience spanning numerous recent interviews with him about his life looking back over a 68-year period, PC has a very good memory; in many cases his recall of minute detail is remarkable. Enjoy Slaski!1 point
