Oh dear. They replacing the air fence again. Peterborough fans better book some hotel rooms6 points

Why are peoole wetting their pants over a green light start? This has been the standard procedure for years if the tapes fail. Most motor sports start on lights anyway so it's no big deal. Better than calling it off surely. Not sure about the green flag thing though. Why not put the red lights on for starters orders then riders go when it goes out.5 points
-
Being serious for a minute. Damian bates is on the board so should be setting examples. The tapes have been iffy for a number of years going up unevenly and failing a few times. instead of spending all your money on great teams. Spend some money on new starting gates and spare air fences.5 points

Very sorry to hear of all the damage and vandalism at the Coliseum last night while the team were at Birmingham. Seems to be an ongoing problem by some idiots.4 points

If this meeting goes ahead then it’s the biggest farce I’ve heard, green light starts, absolutely pathetic and robbing the paying public in attendance, Sheffield should take some flak for this, ridiculous3 points

Before any of you answer this, it is not to be confused with "The Oldest Surviving World FInalists, which I am also interested (some may say obsessed by) in!!!! I started by looking at the 1949 World Final-all the riders participating are no longer with us. I then looked at 1950 and indeed there is one rider still around- Arthur Payne. Imagining still being around 72 years after appearing in the World Final. Then in 1951, Dick Bradley pops up- Dick was a reserve, had only one ride but got 2 points-finishing behind Louis Lawson but ahead of Alan Hunt and Norman Parker.. So one survivor from each of 1950 and 1951. By 1952 there were three still with us- Brian Crutcher appears ( 6 points) and Arthur Payne (9) and Dick Bradley (9). Actually I am not sure if Dan Forsberg is still alive. Actually after 3 rides Dick Bradley was joint second with 8 points.. That is as far as I went, hope forumlanders find this of interest-I think its great that these riders are still with us 70 years after appearing in a world final.2 points

I think some of the Bellevue lads need some track time on something that isn’t big open and well groomed. How about an experience day at Buxton2 points

Yep, the plan is to get 6 points in front and then release a herd of sheep onto the track…2 points

Another shambles at Owlerton. What is it with those in charge of track affairs? Surely all this nonsense deserves a points deduction. Green light starts in top division is laughable. Why did I bother?2 points

Start with running the competitions with credibility, as if you dont, you are just wasting your time and money, as enough prospective new followers of a team sport (and major sponsors and mainstream national media), will simply not be interested. And run those competitions on nights when you get your best crowd in, running when your customers want you to, not when your employees dictate to you they are available... And charge an admission fee that people see as reflecting the actual value for money they get, rather than an admission fee that is set to allow competitors in a tiny minority sport to work six months of the year and have six months off... If all you can afford to remain solvent, and have enough for further growth of your brand and sport is semi pro riders, then only use semi pro riders... In short, have a clear structured development plan for your brand, cut your cloth accordingly when it comes to outlay, and, most importantly, open your business for your customers, not your employees, and listen to what your customers tell you... Plenty more obviously but those are the rudimentary obvious starting points..2 points

When did it change that a rider without an established average could take guest bookings? I'm sure it used to be the case that those with assessed averages couldn't....2 points

Until speedway adopts a policy of having an independant body governing the sport it will only get worse and I don't go along with the often quoted argument that any one promoter will not accept someone independantly running "their" business because other sports cope admirally with such a policy.2 points

I guess the Sport should at least be grateful that you didn't have to resort to Lawson ramming opposition amidships this week to win....2 points

Yeah I hate using that as an excuse . That's what the Monarchs use after a defeat , we don't want to go down that road . After all , good or bad , the track is the same for both sides2 points

Just honesty pal... Gems like these go on to big things quickly... Got to hope the friendships he's created already and the bond with the Flint family can help influence him to stay! What a star he's been!2 points

Good win for Bandits,Jonas looks like he is good prospect.Leon riding well at the tough No5 position. On form we have a chance of overturning the 12 pts against Redcar, who are a bit up and down.2 points

completely agree with your 3 points, however - 4 should be finding tracks that aren't going to be sold/ rented at extortionate prices. Clubs based at dog tracks are doomed, if not now then some time in the future Its interesting, some saying spend TV money on getting big names back when (and i realise its difficult) it should be spent on getting a field somewhere and making a Somerset/ Redcar/ Scunny facility. Worky have shown it can be done - expensive but not prohibitive Finally, I don't care how weak teams have to be but the seven should be your seven, anything else is an unmarketable sham2 points

Speedway has three main issues which stifle its development and growth.. One. The operating model. Simply it is designed to give the owners something to spend their money on that they enjoy. There is no plan for growth nor development, hence putting out "any adhoc Speedway", regardless of credibility, integrity, or relevance, is the objective, rather than running the sport like other "respected, relevant and succesful" sports' do, with genuine "worth winning" Championships.. Secondly. A complete lack of capability (or maybe desire?) in marketing the sport nationally through a nationally recognised marketing company, instead we have tracks doing "their very best" locally, using well meaning amateurs, (although trying to sell the current operating model would be beyond even the best advertising agencies I would think).. And Thirdly. A lack of a consistently successful national team with which to live off the coat tails of. Ten to Fifteen years from now of GB winning individual and team events, including Test Matches, would paint a very different picture for the sport domestically than it does today. (Yet in the 2nd Div we dont even have Rising Stars which tells us all we need to know about how important growth and development of GB riders is to some).. The whole thing is fragmented and disjointed, and unless it every comes together under one voice leadership then it is never going to be successful.. Succesful sports have successful leaders in charge, making tough decisions for the greater good. Leaders who have contacts in the wider media, marketing and business world.. Should Speedway ever allow itself to have the same, then it has a chance.. If it chooses to persist in following its narrow minded, myopic operating model and business plan then it wont..2 points

You can tell he wasn't expecting it by his pre meeting interview. But was always going to happen imo. Just fans way of telling him, they are not happy he left. Prob won't happen again now it is out of their system. Didn't stop him going into Poole side of the pits though! On the other hand Craig Cook will always get boo'd at Poole.2 points

I'm sat ere at Poole train station thinking..... WOT A BLOODY GOOD NIGHT THAT WAS!2 points
-
A few halfwits booing Ben shouldn't have affected him , he'll need to learn to cope with that. I.know certain riders who used that to spur them on . Disappointed but not downhearted , in the grand scheme of things last night decided nothing , I'm sure we'll be more aware of what to expect if the play offs put us together . Lesson learned , it's still there for us .2 points

Thought the track last night held up well considering the heatwave we are currently having. The track staff worked well and kept the dust away bar one or two heats at the end. But that didn’t stop passing and in heat 15 Craig Cook worked his way past Worrall. Perhaps a bit more water on the track before the meeting. The main this is everyone went home extremely happy. There was someone behind me who was attended if their first meeting and they loved it and said they are coming again next week. Thought it was thrilling stuff. Whil we will probably miss out on top two, if we continue to put in performances like last night and not repeat our poor efforts of Edinburgh and Berwick, we will have nothing to fear in the playoffs. This time we are far from favourites so the pressure is off, expectations low. Can we retain the title?2 points

You need to understand the demographic of the city. Not enough people are interested in speedway. It's as simple as that. The world promoting champion would struggle. Honestly.2 points

I am a bit too,but will still go.I think the reason behind it is that we had such a good start to the season and it's all gone pear shaped. And nothing has been done as of yet to put it right. I know it must be hard to get riders at present with the Polish rule putting the mockers on a few riders that may have come over. But they must have known we would have come a cropper at some point with NKI.At no point did they say he was there for the whole season so they should have been prepared for this.2 points

No way was track overwatered if anything should have had more to start with2 points
-
If that was your best meeting of the season, I really, really, really pity your fans. We were beaten fair and square but on a totally unexciting and initially over watered track with very few racing lines. Most of the passing was done due to racers faltering by trying to race on a rideable but non raceable track. Very poor entertainment indeed. If we were to never win any major trophies again, I would still rather watch the excellent racing at Glasgow that that which was on show tonight. No sour grapes…..just the truth as I see it.2 points
-
Seems to be the theme in speedway if a rider like Jonas is doing well they will end up at Glasgow the following season. Hopefully, his friendship with the Flint family will see him take the sensible route and remain at Berwick in 2023.2 points

If that’s the best meeting of your season then that is a sad reflection on what you are being served up. I make no apologies but that was absolute dross as a spectacle.2 points
-
We were well beaten by the team that gated better ,If you are happy with that then fair enough. But don’t give it the Violin rubbish Basso is a racer as you well know but if the track doesn’t allow that then he is pissin against the wind.2 points

He must be so frustrating for Monatchs fans . He was mince for his first three heats , before popping out to win the important heat 142 points

Glasgow obviously offer good deals to riders they would like to sign. It’s up to the riders where they go.IMO. Who pays what is always an unknown fact in Speedway.1 point
