Special mention to Tom brennan 1st rising star to make the 1-5 1st rising star to get a heat 15 and if it wasn’t for a puncture on last lap probably would have won heat 15 just take a bow Tommy boy. A proper adopted ace that kid7 points

It's still a big gamble for someone to finance a new track somewhere and gamble that the crowd would support it. I think speedway in general is dying off for all sorts of reasons. I watched the Bellevue match last night and was expecting a bigger crowd in the main stand. Not sure how many was there. Maybe that's their normal crowd or maybe being live on tv affected it. There did seem to be alot of kids there though which i suppose is a good sign4 points

Good post Dean. I have watched a lot of telly Speedway this season and I reckon this meeting was the most enjoyable of the lot. But then I am a fan of Speedway RACING and we usually get that in abundance at Belle Vue. The moans about “we need a couple more riders” etc I find very boring. They should try living without their team due to closure. It is 100 times worse. In these days any fans whose track is still open should count themselves very lucky and stop bellyaching. great meeting, more of the same please. oh yes, one more plus - the complete absence of that bloody helmet cam which is and always has been a real pain in the ass3 points

Always enjoy reading your posts as you get the point of team sports which speedway clearly doesn’t3 points

Best chance we'll ever have on winning at Poole . Watched them at Armadale on Friday and wasn't impressed . Even if Craig is under the weather , its not huge issue . Our second strings and reserves could tip the meeting in our favour . If we can edge a win tomorrow night , top spot becomes a realistic proposition , but whether we finish first or second is pretty academic . On present form I dont fear anyone over two legs3 points

Apparently they have Nadine Dorres lined up as Minister for Culture and Sport to present the Prizes on Finals Day. She'll no doubt recall buying a Car off Danny Ford, seeing Mark Phillips ride at Badminton Horse Trials, thank John Campbell for his Soups, and praise Mr (Damian) Bates and Mr Dickson for being in many of her saucy novels.....oh not forgetting the picture of Barry Sheene that she had in her bedroom as a teenager.3 points

If Alex is learning from Dale Allitt, it would explain why the team are where they are now. Bottom of the league.2 points

Before I started riding I used to be that fan that went nearly everywhere with wolves, on coaches to away meetings,it was always the same crowd singing away our songs like Brian karger has no father or we all hate the spoons to the American national anthem, great times and we loved our clubs no matter how bad they were at times, it was a tribal thing now I don’t even go to wolves that often and don’t feel an affiliation with them, I still love speedway but I can’t get behind a bunch of riders that don’t “ride “for that team, they ride for the money and anywhere they can get it,the sport has created this modern way but the riders have pushed it just like the modern bike, the riders have pushed the bike and nobody has ever held them back and we are now riding bikes cost to much for little reward and certainly no reward for the sport, British speedway has got to understand it’s a team sport on bikes not a motorbike sport and when it does understand that the fans are the lifeblood of the sport2 points

Truly baffles me Dean.. No point having teams in existence if you dont create rivalry.. I remember fondly the early to mid nineties when BV raced against Wolves.. A few hundred away fans at every meeting.. And plenty of (good natured) abuse between both sets of fans.. Add in "Sammy" swiping "Young Joseph's" leg away as they entered turn 3 and you had uproar.. Two things I could guarantee.. One. Both promotions would have loved looking at the fixture list and seeing as many of these matches planned in as was possible.. And two? Anyone visiting for the first time, or maybe had just started going a few times, would definitely have been back the week later.. Noisy, tribal followings... It is what makes a team sport successful, and delivers growth.. UK Speedway seems to be ran like a Group of Gentlemens Clubs with those who own them quite happy to have "somewhere to go" rather than worry about ever expanding...2 points

Got 11 in playoff final and 8+2 in the league meeting last season. I'd say that is quite good for him as took him a few seasons to get to grips with Poole. But in last few weeks going from getting maximums to scoring zero at Glasgow, goodness knows what he is going to do!2 points

2021 - very few heats 13 & 15 (and a ride against reserves in heats 8,12 or 14) 2022 - heats 13 and 15 in every match (and no easy heats 8,12 or 14) Makes a difference2 points

Scunthorpe have had plenty of blank Fridays, so don't know what the 2nd leg hasn't been raced yet. Perhaps Scunthorpe know they will get knocked out by Leicester & won't make the play-offs, so are wanting to hold this meeting later on to make their season last longer? I can just picture it now though, lots of blank days during the season & finals still raced at the end of October!2 points

4-6? Probably 46 on the track land Could get 4-6 in the pits!!2 points

And we think it's just British Speedway that is a mess, a major international event moved 45 miles a couple of weeks before the event. Absolute shambles2 points

I was there last night and to me there seems more than enough space to accommodate new houses and the speedway stadium.2 points

The point being made was that it "doesnt look good" when you see opposition managers laughing and joking with the opposition during a meeting,.. Regardless of the standard of the manager it shouldnt happen.. Riders too often do it every night and all it can do is give anyone watching the impression that "it mustn't really matter this"... Poland keeping teams (and fans), apart gives off the right message that "this means something".... Even both teams stood together watching from the same part of the pits is something that should change.. UK Speedway definitely suffers from not having "rivalries" which stir the emotions and therefore encourages attendance.. Watching team members and managers all getting on together during a meeting wont ever engender those rivalries.. I do understand though that for riders it might be a tad confusing at any given moment who is your team mate and who is your rival given it changes so often.. As an example. Splitting them in the pits would have many wondering "can I stand and speak with Bomber tonight or not, I couldn't last night, but could the night before, and I am pretty sure I can tomorrow?"2 points

Having seen many developments on small parcels of land I'd stand by 46 being far closer than 4-61 point

I can't exactly remember who it was as I was watching BSN two nights running, but either Justin Sedgman or Adam Roynon said that when riding at KL they put Speedway Stars inside their team suit as the track is so hard there!1 point

Now i know some have said in the past that the Witches are going backwards these days but as the rest of the Uk is in July already maybe its true !!1 point

Bearing in mind Havvy has virtually no use of his left arm/hand, its hardly surprising he doesn't bother with a programme!!1 point

I know what you mean. But we had the real pleasure of Tom as our guest at a recent meeting of the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club. He voiced a strong allegiance to British Speedway despite the obvious lure of "big bucks" in Poland.1 point

Things may of changed so what you heard maybe the updated information, if its to be one more year lets hope they put the effort into making it as memorable as 1999-2006 & 2021 Its looking like British Speedway really is dying a slow but sure death , as theres a few tracks or clubs that have uncertain futures1 point

Home win, no sweat. They won't be looking forward to coming to Poole.1 point

Thing is, and wot I always say, when a rider is put in a race as a tac sub, reserve replacement or nominated in heat 15, we the fans are unaware of wot is happening in the pits. Cud be a whole host of reasons for a rider being selected other than the better option. Not always a manager's cock up.1 point

Agreed, but don't write Tai off just yet1 point

It’s not yet decided but we should know something fairly soon. As for Panthers using the AFA, that’s a complete non starter in my opinion, something I think the management are fully aware of.1 point

I thought that was an excellent meeting in terms of racing, the best tv meeting for a long time.1 point

It used to equally as good as this until stock cars clay based soil was used instead of shale . A superb speedway meeting racing has been brilliant.1 point

I think you’ll find it’s Danny Ford making the decisions as Havelock doesn’t even fill a programme in and has Never by his own admission read the rule book1 point

So drawn out tonight, last week finished for 9.15pm Going to be nearer 10pm tonight. Problem with newcomers coming to TV meeting, great racing yes but they won’t be impressed by huge delays inbetween.1 point

Like I said Steve ( the offer of help was there in more ways than one) but it was declined & now look how it's turned out !! Maybe he could have missed the 22/23 seasons out & came back in 24 but that's running a big risk on getting fans back unless it's promoted massively on local TV & RADIO aswell as social media & as THJ said a lot of good will from volunteers helping out goes a long way1 point

And a Jubilee Trophy final on 31 October won't look as strange as a Summer Trophy final1 point
-
Yes but the reduction of speedway clubs has been as much to do with stadium closures as it has been the fault of speedway promotions!! You surely can't blame the speedway clubs at Coventry, Lakeside, Somerset and Swindon for example! They would all still be racing if the stadia were available.1 point

Keep up the good work and fingers crossed everything works out. July - First time in my kids lifetime (12+16) they have not been to a live speedway meeting - ( covid season apart ) they were taken when in a carrycot and been to nearly every meeting since at Arlington. This season their first meeting will be The British Final at Belle Vue. Hopefully Tom Brennan makes it.1 point
