  1. I fly with him normally a few times a month but wasn’t there when it happened. Still can’t believe it. Yes he did what he enjoyed but his poor family. Young daughter, son working in Falklands is just flying back. Hard to contemplate as like me he was safe. Ah great guy full of fun with a wicked sense of humour. Enjoy your time on earth folks. You don’t know when it could end.

  2. Knowing what I do now Steve you are probably correct... it's a massive undertaking to set up a new venue and it needs a person or persons to dedicate hours of time to the undertaking... Things would have had to rumble on at Brough which isn't ideal and the commitment needed to move to a new track in either time or money is unbelievable... if you commit full time to the project you can save cash but will struggle to run a business or hold down a job... or you can go the other way and throw cash at it which will save you the time element but you are paying for the service provision... It's one hell of a juggling act to get the balance right... so one or more of three types of people required... someone who has a business making money and they can park that and have someone else run it to put 80 hours a week into building a new track and running a Speedway venture for little or no return... someone with mega bucks who is a fan of the sport who is prepared to put something like 500k in up front and happy to lose around 100k a year thereafter... or something like the Worky effort with one man's vision spending some cash putting in all the spare hours and relying on some good will and support from a network of friends... Because the returns from the sport are limited unless things change it's going to be a big ask and risk to get someone to come in for the club now... IMHO... Regards THJ

  3. The result of this this meeting will depend on a number of Cooks.!!!

  6. I knew there were a few, but didn't think there were that many "door pulls" in our midst!

  7. It’s surprising where the crowds do come back from though. Middlesbrough/Redcar had 10 years missing and the crowds came back, went again, came back again etc. Fans will still be there if the product is right. Oxford another one, 15 years? And seem to be doing ok. Workington will probably be the next northern barometer to go by.

  9. Probably waiting to hear confirmation of our Guests and their own. Most Clubs do a preview the day before and some on the day especially when Guests are involved and most of the riders report in safe and sound from the PL matches the night before. Speedway GB only preview on the day. They seem to be generating a lot of excitement down there and so they must be doing plenty right. Poole seem to be a bit jittery of their small neighbours all of a sudden

  10. Are you related to Nadine Dorres....certainly Comedy value So you are suggesting Athletes who have arrived in to a very secure environment with an itiery based around their Sporting Events should leave the Secure village en masse and go to a Speedwat Match?. Would you expect them to pay or to get a free Pass. I'm sure that they would be flocking back to Birmingham or even extending their visits after the Commonwealth Games to stay on and watch some Speedway??.. Where also are the top Class riders going to come from to take part in the Commonwealth Event, a few Aussies?, the usual Home Contingent, maybe BW-D ? Parallel Universe time.....

  11. Watching the speed generated at the NSS tonight and to think in a couple of weeks the Panthers go there its going to be so embarrassing again, especially for Hans ,Nicholls & Ostergaard ,

  12. Realistically Connor is unlikely to get any better than what he is now (in view of his age) and seems to struggle at the next level up. Whilst there may be more to the situation than we know, the way Scunny have treated him after just one month however is awful. He must be thinking is it all really worth it. I hope I’m wrong though and that he battles on continuing to do something I assume he enjoys.

  15. Well the season has gone. NKI wouldn't of made much difference. We are not winning enough races. The Kerrs and TJ's are the McFred of MUFC. Tel will know

  20. Heat 4 was over the top riding from Kurtz who could have caused an injury. Bashing riders out is not part of racing.

  27. Shouldn't be dusty at all or is there a hosepipe ban in Poole, decent track prep should keep the dust to a minimum. Practice session for the superstars, panic has really set in,showing very little faith in the riders imo.

  29. Not so sure about Tai in his present form, very poor in Polish League this season and it’s not happening for him in GP.Very Doubtful that he will be World Champ again.(only my opinion).Personally think Lambert and Bewley have been more consistent than him this season.

  30. They could of course name Coles as number 8 and allow him to take 3 of the RR rides and let the other go to the rider with the average above Dan.

  31. One of the problems with the reduction in no. of matches on which GSAs are based. All things being equal a team whose GSAs are based on 7 home and 3 away is likely to have a higher combined total than one with 3 home and 7 away. Over 20 matches that was far less of an issue.

  33. Instead of panicking ( allegedly) he should have closed it last season & accepted the help which was on offer & moved on to a newer venue & reopened in 2023 with much better team etc & all money took from the turnstiles would have been the club's & not a mega payout for the stadium rent

  36. Last Birmingham team match is scheduled for August the 10th though. As for the Commonwealth Games meeting, simple a Commonwealth Riders Championship featuring a line up of British based Commonwealth riders, heavily promoted in the athletes village the night before the opening ceremony, hardly rocket science

  38. The 2022 FIM Speedway of Nations has been relocated from Esbjerg to Vojens Speedway Center. The four-day event to crown the 2022 world team champions will still be raced from July 27-30, but will now take place at the home of the FIM Speedway GP of Denmark – Vojens – sponsored by ECCO. The change was necessary as EMS Event AsP chief executive officer Lars Guldager Dyhr stepped down from his position due to ill health and the board of directors from that company was unable to continue to run the event. We wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.

  39. The 21A Spark is the service that goes from the city centre to Plymouth road. It runs til late. I think there’s a stop near McDonalds which is 2 mins walk. https://www.plymouthbus.co.uk/services/PLYC/21A the park and ride service finishes at 1845 ish I think so that’s no good for getting back.

  40. Ipswich can race til 10.15 but they can’t use the loudspeakers after 10 pm. have witnessed this once before and it was very eerie with no results or times being announced. however bizarre the rules are you cannot afford to break them.

  43. Totally agree it's as quoted speedway out of the top drawer and regarding the moaners complaining that you can pay on the gate it's easy to book tickets almost self explanatory on the ticket site come see the cheetahs regenerated you'll definitely return

  44. You would be better off worrying about your team than a little club like Plymouth we're just making up the numbers for our superstar neighbours who apparently do everything perfectly and other clubs can only aspire to.

  45. so an open individual meeting which nowadays regular fans don't support === so a reduced crowd of support and hope that the athletes could be tempted (or even allowed to!!) come and watch something they know nothing about with heavy security with them ?? You have no idea !!

  48. 15. Started the season with Oxford when Killeen waited for his passport. Broke his wrist in a practice crash at King's Lynn so replaced in their line-up. Likely to be redeclared by Oxford with Killeen injured i would have thought. Not sure he can be blamed for either crash .... not least because he was behind Luke and in front of Greg.

  49. A number of people have told you already but you are still banging the anti-greyhound agenda on a speedway forum. While you may be passionate about that subject, it is hardly a topic for this forum. We want Swindon Speedway back and that means having the dogs too - as it has been for most of the last 50 years! If you want to talk about speedway then please do but keep your anti-greyhound agenda to yourself please as you have already had more pages on the subject than I care to read!
